Had lunch at Het Steegje this afternoon. I wanted the 2 sandwiches with 2 croquettes (so you pay €7.95 for 2 croquettes). I asked the waiter if I could have 2 plates, with 1 sandwich and 1 croquette on each plate? Because I want to share it, otherwise I won't be able to finish it. Then we got the bill: €12!! Walked inside with the receipt. The answer we received was 'we charge per plate, so 1 sandwich with 1 croquette is €6 and you had that multiplied by 2'. What a rip-off! We won't be coming back here.

Everything is good, but a bit too noisy; it is a cafe, after all.

Great place with good food. The only flaw was the factory-made cheese on the delicious onion soup, which melted, sank, and was inedible like chewing gum.

A bit of a shame. Arrived at 11 PM to enjoy a nice chat on a Saturday evening, there were still over 20 people there. I was kindly asked to leave by a young woman with little sense of humor. Missed opportunity.

Always a pleasant and delicious meal here. We've been several times. The menu is generally pretty consistent, though they always offer seasonal dishes. The service is always very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend it. Reservations are recommended for dinner, especially if you're with more than two people.

A pleasant spot in Borne where you can enjoy a delicious meal. I was surprised by the menu and also very impressed with the service. They offer several types of coffee, which is nice for variety (e.g., coffee/tiramisu), and with your coffee, you also receive a liqueur. The decor is also nicely decorated, with coffee beans, for example. The winter tea is also recommended. A nice, small detail, but still nice. For dinner, I surprisingly had a bao bun with pork belly as a starter, followed by red mullet fillet with mushroom risotto and a stewed pear. You don't often see that on menus, completely in keeping with the ambiance and the season. They also checked regularly if everything was alright (almost a little too often), but that's the only thing worth recommending.

A cozy grand café and restaurant. The food is excellent. Everything here is prepared with care and attention, and you can tell. The satay is delicious, and the accompanying salad is also very freshly made. They have tasty beers on tap and excellent wine. Afterward, enjoy a delicious liqueur and a delicious bonbon with your coffee. And all for a very reasonable price. In short, highly recommended!

Delicious food for a reasonable price

Vandaag hier op 3 mei 2025 heerlijk geluncht en wat ongelofelijk vriendelijk spontaan personeel ,leuke tent op een gezellig stukje in Borne

De bediening was prima, misschien iets minder vaak vragen of het smaakt. We hadden brood met kruidenboter vooraf, dit was wel een wat klein broodje voor de prijs 4,75. De hoofdgerechten waren lekker, varkenshaas had iets minder ver mogen zijn. De friet was erg lekker, de gebakken aardappels waren wat zacht en smakeloos.

Fast, delicious and absolutely not expensive. Highly recommended. Ate an egg roll for lunch, which was delicious. Good brown bread too. Service was fast and good. Atmosphere is cozy, it was busy (but that is also a good sign)

I had lunch here with my daughter. A healthy sandwich and a bouncer. Very nice service, real attention to the customer. Nice atmosphere/entourage and last but not least: very affordable!!

Had a sandwich with salmon, the salad around it was old and limp. The bread was toasted but in my opinion also old. The salmon that was there was fresh. We won't go there again, the food was disappointing. The boy who came to serve it was nice

Cozy atmosphere and delicious lunch

Food is good, but me and my girlfriend were in a hurry and we both ordered a croquette sandwich to take away, 1 croquette with bread. These are on the menu for about 8 euros. We also ordered a coke, say 3 euros, to drink while waiting Yet we had to pay 25.40 and were not asked for a receipt. It seemed like a lot to us and we got a strange feeling about it.

The 2 croquettes were not served warm, when you cut open a croquette, steam should really come out, the served vegetables were not tasty, I only had 1 bite, have had a stomach flu for 2 days now Very unfortunate because it is a nice restaurant that is centrally located

Excellent bistro in the center of Borne. Free parking nearby (De Bree). We were here with 4 colleagues to celebrate the retirement of 1 of them. Have a casual drink and then something to eat. Service is friendly and attentive, the atmosphere is good and the food was excellent. You don't need more!

Nice place right in the center. Spacious enough so that you don't have to look at each other's plates. Ordered the pork rack and steak. Both were tender and well seasoned. Nicely presented. Plenty of side dishes.

Lunch at the alley... The sandwiches with the croquettes and the salmon sandwich, among others, look a bit shabby. Then use a nice thick slice of freshly baked bread. By the way: Joris is a great guy!

This place has gluten-free bread and there is a choice to eat organic food. Opted for the tuna salad here, and it was a generous portion. It is a pleasant place to sit.

Here I had a quick meal, my wife had a well-filled meal of salad and I had a delicious duck breast, which I loved after them. Nice and tasty meal for a great price.

Cosy bar cafe restaurant in the city center of Borne. Friendly and attentive staff. Awesome that they have Gulpener as draft beer. One of my favorites. Tasty food, nice portions. Not the best spareribs ever but tasty enough and fall off the bone. Free parking around but mind the blue zone to be limited to two hours parking and needing a parking disc.

Nogal teleurgesteld na gisteren.. Ik bestel een cola zero met ijs & citroen. Krijg een lauwe cola zero. Ik bestel een broodje carpaccio met tuffelmayo ipv pesto, krijg met pesto. Bestelde nog keer cola zero met ijs en citroen, krijg cola met ijs.. Erg teleurstellend dit.

Leuk bruin cafe en ook goed eten

De inrichting als bruin café is niet helemaal mijn ding. Maar het is onjuist om daarom dit als onvoldoende te beoordelen. Ze hadden het interieur in herfstsfeer aangepast. Best leuk. Ons kleinkind kreeg gelijk kleurpotloodjes en een kleurplaat. Erg attent. Vriendelijke bediening, de cappuccino was best goed! De bitterballen waren prima. Mooi lichtbruin.

Gezellig terras in het centrum van Borne

Geweldig leuk café. Vriendelijk personeel, lekker eten.

Keurige en snelle bediening, ik had een speciale wens waar aan kon worden voldaan. 100 punten voor de steeg.

Zeer vriendelijk personeel, heerlijke betaalbare latte Machiato en een gezellige inrichting.

Zeer leuk en goed verzorgd café. Het eten, in dit geval: sandwich Zalm en een Beef Burger, waren erg lekker. Deze waren tevens goed geprijsd voor de kwaliteit en hoeveelheid. Wel -1 ster voor de donkere sfeer binnen. Hier mag naar onze smaak wat meer verlichting komen.

Heerlijke tent en fijn personeel.

Bij binnenkomst aangegeven dat we 2 hongerige kinderen hadden en snelle plate wilden bestellen. Bij bestellen nog eens aangegeven dat we wel een broodje willen maar alleen als het eten daar niet op hoeft te wachten omdat de kids al honger hadden. Het duurde uiteindelijk 1 uur en 10 minuten voordat wij ons eten kregen; wat de gezelligheid niet ten goede komt. Het eten was lekker. Heerlijke burger en varkenshaas gehad.

Positief verrast! mooie combi van cafe en restaurant. Wij zaten boven, dat is echt een restaurant deel. Zeer vriendelijke en vrolijke bediening. Het eten is goed bereid, ziet er lekker uit. Geen poespas, gewoon een royale portie lekker eten. precies wat er zochten op een koude lentedag. We waren hier op een zaterdag en de hele tent zat vol wat meteen een goede sfeer brengt. Ook de prijs kwaliteit verhouding is gewoon goed.

Gezellig was druk maar hele vriendelijke bediening

Uitstekend eten de kok kwam nog speciaal bij mij of ik nog iets te wensen had. Ook de bediening is top voor een redelijke prijs.

Service was good & fast We told the service we only had an hour to lunch, and they made the dishes fairly quick. It was good quality for the money you spend on it. A good recommendation is the "Rundercarpaccio" it's on a bun which is nice and crusty. Also the hot chocolate is a bit on the strong/pure side so that was a bit less. Over all a good cafe to eat at if you need some good food. 10/10.

Tijdens ons verblijf in hotel Jachtlust in Hertme met z’n vieren gegeten op vrijdagavond 23 september. Dit Grand Café is van binnen gezellig ingericht. Ontvangst en bediening is bijzonder vriendelijk. Wij hadden als voorgerecht de Steegstoet. Dit is rond desem brood met tapenade en kruidenboter. Het was vers en nog warm. Als hoofdgerecht hadden we Salade Falafel, deze was erg lekker. De Shaslick en twee maal de Saté. Geserveerd met atjar en klein bolletje salade en kroepoek. De eerste twee gerechten zijn voor de weinige eters genoeg. De Saté waren twee stokjes met vijf kleine stukjes vlees, voor een gemiddelde eter is dit erg weinig. Desondanks is dit wel een aanrader als je in Borne bent en je wilt niet al te duur eten.

Netjes ontvangen. Vrij snel werd er gevraagd om de QR code. Toen dat klaar was werden wij direct geholpen en hebben wij lekker wat gedronken en gegeten.
