I was feeling very nauseous and was offered two glasses of water, very thoughtful. The bitterballen were good. Thanks for the good service.

Very tasty burger, good cocktails, and, once again, very expensive beer. There was a mouse running around the dining area. We spontaneously visited Grand Café De Tijd around 8:30 pm with a group of 15 people – without a reservation. Initially, they actually tried to turn us away, claiming the kitchen was already closed. When we then tried to leave, they suddenly said it was possible to eat after all. With a group of this size, we would have appreciated better communication. The food itself, however, was better than expected. The burger was particularly impressive: the patty was homemade and served medium-rare – just right and truly delicious. The fries were also good. Overall, the food was perfectly acceptable, though not a culinary highlight. The cocktails were also good. Regarding the beer, however, the prices are quite steep. Especially compared to other establishments in The Hague, we found the beer significantly overpriced. Online reviews also suggest the prices are sometimes perceived as rather high. A mouse then provided a rather curious moment, strolling leisurely through the dining area. We were told that this was apparently quite normal in this location. Whether you find that reassuring or rather disconcerting is entirely up to you. 😅 The restrooms are generally okay. The hand dryer, however, was truly disgusting. On a positive note, a paper towel dispenser has since been installed above it – which, in our opinion, was desperately needed. Otherwise, the café's location is really good, and the atmosphere is generally pleasant. The bar and grill concept suits the location, and the menu offers a fairly wide selection. The current menu includes burgers, steaks, ribs, fish, and various cocktails. Our conclusion: The food is decent to good, the burgers and fries are even very good, and the cocktails are also recommendable. However, the initial treatment of our group left us with a somewhat mixed impression of the service. Add to that the beer prices, which we felt were too high, and the rather disconcerting encounter with the mouse. Otherwise, the café's location is really good, and the mouse incident took some getting used to. For a drink or a burger in a central location, it's certainly fine to go there – but for a larger group, I would recommend making a reservation beforehand and not relying on being able to get a table spontaneously.

Unfortunately, a very disappointing experience. We ordered two cocktails, but they were so strong that we sent them back after just one sip. We then ordered two other cocktails and explicitly asked for less alcohol. To our surprise, we were still required to pay for the two cocktails we had sent back. The reason given was that “work had been put into the cocktails.” We have never experienced this before and find it absolutely not customer-friendly. Additionally, communication was very difficult. No Dutch was spoken, and unfortunately, the English was also very poor. All in all, not a pleasant experience, and not a place we will be returning to anytime soon.

Bad service, bad cocktails. They can't make cocktails, and if it's not good and you send it back, you have to pay for it. Terrible service!!

Went there to celebrate our one year anniversary, thinking we'd go on a nice dinner date. For two drinks, two starters, two mains, a side of fries and a tiny bowl of ketchup (1,25€ btw) we spent 77,75€. Ordered "de tijd burger" well done, and "zalmfilet honing mosterd". Burger was mid rare, and somehow, so was the salmon - also didnt specify that the honey mustard sauce would be full of dill, yet that's basically all it tasted of. Before that, we had garlic bread and pumpkin soup as our starters, and our mains made us wish we had just ordered more of those. Service was friendly but not very attentive, had to ask to be given a clean spoon for the soup. Got asked after one bite if everything was to our wishes, wasn't till a few bites later that we realised the burger and salmon were raw inside. Despite being hungry because we knew we'd be going for a big dinner, neither of us finished our plates. About half an hour later, on the train towards home, I started feeling sick to my stomach, and I spent last night stuck on the toilet until around 6 am. Still feel nauseous and sick a day later, although I'm fairly certain all the food from there has left my system. Nice spot for drinks though, I think, if you don't mind waiting for the server for 10 minutes before deciding to walk to the register so you can pay.

Had a delicious meal during a few days in The Hague. Friendly staff, beautiful interior with a great terrace. The only downside is that several cushions on the terrace need replacing. But that didn't spoil the fun. All in all, great. Grand cafe

It's a nice place to have dinner. The area is quite crowded but you still can ha a good conversation. The food is as advertised.

Grand Café De Tijd sits in a really lovely location and is clearly a popular spot, so it's worth calling ahead to secure a table, especially during busier times. We only had drinks, but the overall setting made for a very pleasant experience. Food, from what we could see and hear from others, looked excellent, and pricing for both food and drinks felt fair given the quality. Service was a touch slow at times, though this seemed to be down to how busy it was rather than any lack of effort. All things considered, a great spot that's well worth the visit, ideally with a reservation in hand.

We sat outside and ordered mac and cheese, salmon, and steak: delicious food, great service, and no waiting. We are definitely coming back again before our trip to The Hague ends.

The three of us had lunch here on the terrace. Several other tables were occupied, and they were only working with two people. Nevertheless, we were served quickly and courteously. The food tasted great. We had the Philly cheese steak twice and the crispy chicken once.

We arrived at 4:50 pm wanting to eat there. We were told that orders couldn't be taken until 5:00 pm. We ordered drinks and waited for the menu. Menus were being distributed to some tables, but unfortunately not to ours. When we still hadn't received a menu by 5:40 pm, we left. That wasn't exactly customer-friendly.

The Bavette was truly delicious, as were the sweet potato fries with Parmesan and truffle mayo. Restaurant de Tijd is a grill restaurant on the square in The Hague, in close proximity to the theater, the Binnenhof, and several museums, including the Mauritshuis and the Escher Museum.

Had a great meal here on a Thursday. It was surprisingly quiet, though. The service was good, quick and efficient. Definitely worth a visit!

The meat (chicken) was overcooked, and the other chicken dish was also overcooked. Too bad, otherwise a nice place for drinks.

Delicious lunch in a beautiful location

Oh, how busy it was before Christmas.

The food was average; I've had both better and worse meals. However, I find the price too high for the quality we received. Furthermore, the wait time was long, the food was served just a bit too cold, and many items on the menu were unfortunately unavailable.

We rounded off an afternoon in The Hague at De Tijd. The service was friendly and attentive. My dinner companion ordered chicken satay, which was excellent. I prefer vegetarian food, so I opted for the oyster mushroom burger. It was a shame that, contrary to what the menu promised, it wasn't crispy.

We had a delicious meal at Grand Café de Tijd. Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere. It was very busy, even at the bar, which is nice. The noise made it a bit difficult to have a conversation. There were a lot of paper towels on the floor by the restroom...that's the guests' fault...so please put them in the trash.

The food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommended. Tip for the restaurant: clearly state the actual opening hours. We went back later for drinks. It says they're open until midnight. The heaters make it lovely and cozy outside (we went in December). Unfortunately, at 11:15 PM, all the lights on the patio went out and all the tables were cleared. We were just able to order a drink at 11 PM. Otherwise, it was a very pleasant and delicious experience!

The food was fine, but when I asked for the bill (which was very high), I only got a printout from the ATM. The staff speaks English... I definitely won't be coming back here again. Don't let me... again.

It's not super tasty, but it's not terrible either. The wide selection of alcohol is great for drinkers, which is a given, as you'd expect from a bar and grill. The service is also good, although by European standards... The local TAP beer, Hertog Jan, is easy to drink and recommended for Japanese people.

I highly recommend De Tijd in The Hague. It has a very cozy interior, and the food is delicious. My wife had the spareribs, and she thought they were the best she'd ever had. I had the half chicken with fries. The warm half tomato and the fried lettuce were delicious with it. The spicy sauce with the chicken was also superb. We had a wonderful meal there. If I ever return to The Hague, I know our dinner spot, De Tijd.

We had a fantastic meal on Heritage Day. Highly recommended! We'll definitely be back.

Excellent food and drinks with fast service

We were served a cake with mold stains, after reporting this to the waiters they threw the cake away and put new pieces on the same plate.

The food was tasty but the service is one of the worst I have ever seen. We were sitting outside and there was just one other table where people were sitting. So more than enough space for the service people. But they told us two people to move away from the paths even with so much space available on the terrace and with another paths for the service people. We planned for dinner but decided to leave after our snack since the service was too bad and rude. And we won't come again.

A spontaneous stop, good food at a reasonable price; we had steaks! The service was a bit slow, but very friendly. The ambiance is wonderful inside and out, especially with the view of the square (Het Plein?). There's a lively atmosphere all around; life pulsates here in a pleasant way.

Everything that could go wrong did. But the staff did their utmost to make everything right. Next time will definitely be better.

I can't recommend the €60 grill plank for two people. It's very frugal. Maybe it's enough for two small children. Cafe time? Probably no time, no time to prepare normal portions of food.

While working away, we found this lovely place with stunning food right in the middle of the kicking evening scene. I had a beautiful tuna steak that was so juicy and a bowl of sweet potato fries with a spicy mayo. Food arrived quickly even those this and places nearby are so busy. We had bitterballen as a snack with our excellent cocktails and they tasted very good. As a main course I had the sweet ribs and they were DELICIOUS! The meat fell off the bone and the sauce/seasoning was perfect. My friend had the 'time burger' and it was also sublime. To finish we shared the brownie with salted caramel and it was also absolutely fantastic! The only thing to note is that the service can be very relaxed, but this is of course a personal preference. I have no problems with this, but my friend prefers faster operation. The service is extremely friendly and polite. Definitely recommended if you are in the area and fancy a nice dinner!

We went there for lunch on Sunday, December 8. I didn't know the place and was pleasantly surprised this day. Get grand café looks really nice from the inside. We sat in a semi-circular bench overlooking the bar. The inside looks very hip! They have decorated the tent with wine bottles, which gives it a professional look. The waitresses speak English and are friendly. I ordered a De Tijd burger and my girlfriend a Philly cheese steak sandwich. Both have another latte macchiato as a drink. The hamburger was delicious, just like the fries you get next to it. The Philly cheese steak was very tough and the water "large" pieces of meat. Normally the steak is cut thinner and that made the sandwich a lot tastier 😉 Despite the Philly cheese steak, we enjoyed it and will definitely go back, if only for the atmosphere while enjoying a drink

Well, what a welcome! The lady who helped us clearly didn't feel like it. A smile? Forget it. Anyway, maybe we wouldn't have had that anymore if we had had to make those bitterballen ourselves. Seriously, the chip was fried so hard that I almost had to make an appointment with the dentist. Bitterballen should be crispy, not life-threatening. And the worst of all? At 3 am, drunk and half asleep, I get better bitterballen from a simple air fryer than what was served here. This was not a culinary experience, this was punishment. Never eaten such disgusting snacks before.

Went with my parents and partner for a meal to get out of the rain and it was lovely. Burger was well priced and the quality was great same with the ribs. Enjoyed the drinks and lovely atmosphere and staff.

Wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. Despite the large group there, there was no running or unrest among staff. Everyone helped quickly. Meat was delicious, vegetables cooked too much for my taste.

Ayer llevé a mi cita allí, y nuestra comida llegó tibia con las verduras demasiado cocidas, también tardó bastante en llegar, más de una hora. Le dije al camarero sobre nuestra decepción, no nos ofrecieron un descuento, solo que se lo pasaría al chef. Creo que necesitan más personal y un chef que sepa cocinar.

On the entire menu there were only 2 options to eat gluten-free and dairy-free. Carpaccio salad was ok, but not very special or attractively filled.

We had a terrible experience at this restaurant. Our hamburger was served raw and still frozen. To make matters worse, they forgot to bring the second one. When we politely mentioned that we wouldn't be paying for the inedible burger, we were met with aggressive behavior from the waiter. He raised his voice and pointed at us. I strongly advise against dining at this establishment.

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. I ordered a side of vegetables for 5 euros, which arrived as a very small portion and was completely burnt. When I asked for the dish to be removed from my bill, the manager refused to do so. Additionally, my meal was disrupted by a large number of bees swarming around my table, making it difficult to enjoy the meal. I hope the restaurant addresses these issues promptly.

Cozy restaurant with delicious food and drinks.

This was our second visit here and it was by far the worst experience ever. The Steaks were really bad, the starters were missing, the waiter messed up with the bill and wanted us to pay for the mistake he did and we waited very long for drinks and food. We will not come back again. It was very very very horrible!

Had a drink on the terrace after Veterans Day. It's a bit strange that you have to order English every now and then.

Had a late lunch. Avocado with crispy chicken that was tasty. And the Philly cheesesteak sandwich, the ratio was not good. Little steak and a very thick brown sandwich tasted good and fresh but far too thick. And I miss the chimichurri afterwards.

Friendly help from an English speaking lady. The food was good but not special hence my 4 stars. The lady serving was correct and friendly. The food portion was quite large and tasty but lacked the special twist that was a bit different than I would make it at home.

A lively and vived location in the centre of The Hague: The air is filled with the rather loud sounds of club-music and of chatting voices. The light is dimmed. The atmosphere: somehow cosy and dynamic at the same time. The (numerous) guests, within the wooden guestroom and on the terrace, are being served in an uncomplicated, very friendly as well as efficient manner. The dishes are tasty and well prepared good, solid standard, The Hague-style priced. A good place to grasp the city's flair.

The terrace system at Het Plein is sometimes difficult to figure out which tables belong to whom... But De Tijd has delicious mocktails, which are sometimes too expensive...

Missed opportunity. Sitting outside on the terrace for half an hour on Sunday evening waiting for service. Unfortunately without results. And let's just say it was busy 🥴 we just left.
