Tasteless, disappointing, and stiff staff who happily start eating croquettes themselves and let the customers leave in great disappointment; once is enough, never again.

We both had vegetarian lasagna. Delicious! The service was friendly and attentive. Highly recommended, we would love to come back.

After waiting for three quarters of an hour for two hot chocolates, we just got up without being served. Terribly bad (no) service on the terrace. We do understand the crowds on King's Day, but this was a very bad experience.

A lovely little restaurant with very friendly service. We were there at lunchtime, so they offered the lunch menu. The food was excellent. The portions were more than generous and the prices very reasonable. The entire atmosphere was exceptionally pleasant. Highly recommended.

This restaurant, located in the medieval monument De Waag, is charmingly decorated and offers a wide selection of dishes. I chose the red gurnard fillet. Besides the generous selection of wines, which I'm not familiar with, there's also a wide selection of specialty beers. They even have beers from the local brewery on the menu. The service is attentive and professional. We had a fantastic evening and I hope to return.

It looks nice inside. It was averagely busy. The coffee was okay, nothing to complain about, not great coffee. Standard coffee. But what a terrible place. So noisy. Too much sound. The decor amplifies and amplifies the sound. We had to shout to hear each other. And then it was averagely busy... We'll never come back.

May 17, 2025 I had a delicious cup of coffee here today with my girlfriend. Friendly staff. You get served quickly.

The four of us and our puppy ate here. On our first day in Friesland, we were doing some shopping nearby and suddenly stumbled upon a small town. Walking the dog and grabbing a bite to eat, we ended up at Café de Waegh. Despite the heavy rain, we sat outside, which was perfectly manageable. The four of us went for lunch; they had a nice menu with lots of delicious options. All four of us had a latte or cappuccino, two meatball sandwiches, a tuna melt, and warm goat cheese on bread. The only disappointment was the tuna melt, not because of the taste, but because, unlike the other dishes, it had less filling. The food was delicious and for a great price of €16.20 per person.

We had a wonderful meal at this lovely spot in Dokkum, with friendly service and delicious local beers. All in all, a very successful evening!

We just came here for a beer, and it turned out great. It was a Friday night and there was live music (accordion, singer, and singer). We thought it was old-fashioned, but very enjoyable. Mind you, we're from the Rotterdam area, and that's completely out of the question here. A bit of a shame. The atmosphere was great and it was fun. We were getting late, and they politely asked if we wanted one last round. Great atmosphere and location. We had a great time.

I had a wonderful meal here on Sunday. I had the spare ribs with a delicious topping of sweet and sour vegetables. When I wanted to eat, I saw that there was a plastic cap from a squirt bottle among the food. I said to the friendly waitress, "Your chef is very enthusiastic and squeezed the bottle too hard and is now missing its cap." She took it away and apologized. A little later she came back. She had discussed it with her manager and I got a free dessert. What top service, the location, the food and the service are top notch and the dessert was of course extra delicious.

We ate here today. The staff wasn't friendly and didn't warn us that the plates were hot, which resulted in a child getting burned. When we pointed this out, we didn't receive a proper or sympathetic response. The food was also mediocre. It's a shame, because the location is beautiful and the restaurant has potential.

We sat outside on the terrace, at the front. There were 2 other apparently well-known ladies of one of the service ladies. There was almost only attention for the well-known ladies than there was for us, very unfortunate because we did not feel welcome. The food and cappuccino were delicious!

Leuk Restaurant, niet te volgepropt met tafeltjes dus prima armslag & privacy. Kaart was erg leuk; zéker de items ‘van de dag’…! Personeel erg behulpzaam, vriendelijk en snel en niet zoals je weleens elders ziet dat je eerst 3 kwartier achterstevoren moet gaan zitten om iets te bestellen. Al met al een leuke belevenis!

We tried both vegan dishes (vegan satay and vegan curry) and they were delicious! Noticeably made by a chef who knew what vegan food entails, with subtle flavors and beautifully presented. The service was smooth, friendly and attentive, and answered all our questions through the chef. Highly recommended for vegans and those who want to become vegan.

Had a bad experience. The staff was not friendly. We were received by an employee who stood with a mouth full of food. Tried several times to call the waiter, but without success. Only after 20 minutes did someone from the service come by to pick up the lunch menu. At that point we indicated that we had already been waiting 20 minutes. Unfortunately we were then told that we could no longer order. We left without eating. A very unpleasant and disappointing experience.

Super nice atmosphere and delicious cappuccino. We were in a bit of a hurry, so we asked if we could eat within 45 minutes, and that was no problem. My short rib had a lot of fat, but after explaining that this is not visible from the outside, they offered to make a new short rib, or that I could go for a tournedo. Went for the latter option and it was delicious, and so was my wife's stew. We were very happy with the service and the delicious food, definitely recommended!

Hier met kennissen een ‘Waegh elk uurtje’ besteld en dat smaakte uitstekend. Keuze uit heerlijke mosterdsoep of tomatensoep, een witte dikgesneden boterham met kroket en een dikke bruine boterham met carpaccio met zongedroogde tomaatjes. Heerlijk allemaal en geserveerd door vriendelijke dames. Buiten was het koud, binnen warm en gezellig in dit kleine, maar prachtige stadje.

Kids pizzas are tiny and clearly not freshly made. They are in fact not actual pizzas. Quite expensive for what you get. The poke bowl has smoked salmon! It should be fresh, salmon. That’s the whole point. It wasn’t bad, but they clearly have the basics wrong. The carpaccio was 90% salad and 10% meat that was not of high quality. The hot chocolate with whipped cream collapsed into what looked like milk before it was served - it’s not real whipped cream. Beautiful building, good interior design, but completely forgettable.

Had a delicious meal at Grand Café de Waegh this evening. Friendly and quick help from the two ladies. We chose the spicy ribs in advance, which were very good and the meat was loose around the bone. We chose the tournedos as the main course, which was also fantastic in taste and presentation. Super cozy tent with good staff and food! Recommended 😊

Eerst een prima Fries biertje gedronken en mijn vrouw een wijntje. Goede service en erg klantvriendelijk omdat het wijntje werd omgeruild omdat die wijn niet beviel. Daarna heerlijk gegeten, een voortreffelijke shortrib en goede lasagne. Dus de volgende dag weer gegeten in De Waegh. Ook vanwege de erg gezellige bediening.

In het mooie Dokkum , in het oude waaggebouw, ligt Grand Café de Waegh. Wij hadden geluk een tafeltje te krijgen zonder reservatie. Het was een vernieuwde kennismaking na vele jaren. Het weze gezegd, het eten was verrukkelijk lekker. Het personeel is zeer vriendelijk en hebben oog voor de klanten. Een tppertje!

Uitermate lekkere gerechten, gewoon dikke 5 sterren weer een keer. Tweemaal gegeten en nergens teleurgesteld geweest. Complimenten aan de kok en bediening. Goede recepturen gebruikt en op de juiste manier gekookt, gebakken en geserveerd. Tot de volgende keer.
