This restaurant has such a cozy atmosphere. Nice seating everywhere. Friendly service. They had a delicious duo sandwich: the carpaccio sandwich and the marinated shrimp sandwich. My mother had a delicious toasted sandwich with Turkish bread and tomato.

Mirte is truly a star in the service department! She knows exactly what's wrong. She's attentive. She's a great team player. Truly a star!

Unfortunately, it was a one-time visit for us, because being treated like a child quickly spoils the fun. If you order a steak from the grill extra-rare and get two pieces of beef, half well done and half medium, you're allowed to complain. So I gave the plate back to the waitress. Then another waitress came over and asked me to explain what wasn't right. She told me there was a piece of medium, to which I replied that I'd ordered rare. Then I was given a piece of tenderloin and told that the steak was too thin to be cooked rare. In the end, I paid full price, and I think they were happy to see us leave. Such a shame, because it had been a lovely day.

We were a group of four. All four had different experiences. The salmon poke bowl was delicious, but the amount of rice was completely out of proportion to the rest of the salad: far too little rice! The chicken burger was only slightly cheaper than the steak, but to be honest, there wasn't much difference between a McChicken and this chicken burger. ;) It was tasty: no doubt about it, but you pay over €20 for it. The steak was nice and tender and well-seasoned! The chicken with cured ham was also very good. The desserts were good, but again, the price was a bit odd. It was €4 cheaper to get a pastry with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream instead of ordering dessert from the dessert menu. And yet the pastry with ice cream was larger than the regular desserts. That's remarkable. The staff was friendly, but a bit lazy (?). I'm not sure if that's the right word. But at least by the end of the evening, we had a whole collection of empty glasses from the drinks we'd consumed. After we requested them, we were repeatedly told they would be picked up, but this wasn't the case. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and friendly. Good sound insulation, so you can hear each other clearly.

Bizarrely bad: The staff is completely focused on each other. The steak is tough, and when you give it to them, they don't do anything with it. The whole evening, no one paid attention to empty glasses; we had to hand them over ourselves. We had to wait 10 minutes before being helped, and then we were still placed at a dirty table, and it wasn't even cleared afterward. Cutlery was simply provided, and the woman in question didn't care and considered it normal, but she did have time to drink a rosé herself at the table next to the bar.

Had a truly delicious lunch! The carpaccio sandwich was absolutely delicious and well-filled, and not too expensive. The truffle fries were delicious with it. The staff was friendly.

The service could come more often. It wasn't as if everything was to our liking, but the food was truly excellent. But one of them, Evita, made our drinks platter; it was delicious, compliments to her.

The toilet isn't kept clean. The service is friendly. The food is good.

We ate outside in the square. The atmosphere was fantastic. The food was excellent. I ordered a steak with mushrooms. There were very few mushrooms with it, though. A shame. Otherwise, it was very good.

We had a wonderful meal here with a family of four. And the service was absolutely perfect! We could open the window in the conservatory, which provided some cooling. The food was also delicious! The atmosphere is very cozy!

Unfortunately, it was a bad experience. As an adult, you're not allowed to order from the children's menu, even if you've had gastric bypass surgery and can't eat much. We'd already taken a sip of our drink. We quickly drank it down, paid, and went elsewhere for dinner.

Helaas slechte ervaring. Als volwassene mag je dus niet van de kinderkaart bestellen, ook niet wanneer je een maagverkleining hebt gehad en niet veel kan en mag eten. We hadden al een slokje van het drinken genomen. Dat snel opgedronken, betaald en ergens anders gaan eten.

Back again after a long time (April 2025). Excellent and nice warm bread with spreads in advance. . Quality food, just good for everyone (7 people), hamburger slightly red which is allowed if you like it, excellent satay even though it is chicken thigh, tender steak. Steak slightly too small compared to the suggested 200 grams (I estimate a maximum of 180 grams), which is a shame because it is not a cheap dish. Excellent medium rare grilled. Desserts are definitely recommended! Beautiful and more than sufficient. Attractively priced overall. The only disadvantage and that was partly the reason that we have not been there for a long time: since the renovation there is (still) a pungent smell (sewage?). The strength varies during the evening but never disappears. Do something about it and we will come back more often!

We had lunch here. Cozy tent in the center. My omelet was a wet version of what it should have been. Lots of vegetables, that was positive.

There was a big difference in the service of the staff. Some of them helped a lot. The older hostess was very service-oriented, but there was also a girl walking around who made sure that the average went down. There was not a single laugh. The food was very tasty and served quickly even though we were a large group. We sat in the conservatory with the large group and attention could be paid to the acoustics there. It felt like a huge shrill sound box.

Great meal. Made use of the three-course menu; was fine. Just under five stars. The service was very good. There was real contact with the guests. Very nice and very nice. The location is very good. Very atmospheric under the trees. Definitely recommended.

At t Gelagh they have done well. Service, food, atmosphere are all excellent. Good portions, nicely prepared and a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended for an extensive lunch, for example.

Had dinner here today with the family for my son's 20th birthday. We received a friendly welcome, the service is simply good! We are asked if everything is OK during the meal and they also come by to ask if we want any drinks. Bread with spreads, prawn skewer, and nachos for the kids. All equally delicious! As main courses we had the steak xl which was wonderfully tender and nicely medium fried, the tomahawk pork steak a delicious piece of meat, the snitzel with onion, and the kids fries with frikadellen. After some desserts we went home for a walk. We will definitely come back here again!

Nice place, tasty food, friendly and attentive service

I visited the Grand Café 't Gelagh yesterday (April 12, 2025) to enjoy a snack and a drink on the terrace. After parking the car, it is a 5-minute walk to the terrace. During the day, part of the terrace is in the sun, but there is also a large part in the shade because of the trees. We arrived around 6 p.m. and half of the tables were filled, which made the atmosphere very cozy! The menu is a kind of newspaper, a really nice idea! We went for the snack platter with a beer. The snack platter was well filled with various snacks, the only thing I missed was a sauce next to mustard. After the snack platter, we were still a bit hungry and we ordered a mixed bittergarnituur and truffle fries. The truffle fries taste delicious, there is cheese, spring onion, fried onions and truffle mayonnaise on it. This tastes great! A fork would have been useful when eating it. For dessert we both went for the stroopwafel duo. I have to be honest, it was a bit small, with only 1 scoop, but it tasted very good! The service could be a bit better, we were in sight, but we often had to ask the ladies for attention to be allowed to order something. This can be improved. I had a nice evening and went home with a good feeling.

Het personeel is hier heel erg vlot en vriendelijk. Wij waren eerst even aan het kijken op de kaart en liepen toen door, waarna we besloten om terug te gaan. Ze waren oprecht blij dat we weer terug waren! Het eten zag er top uit (wij hadden de poke bowl) en het smaakte ook nog eens heel goed! We hoefden ook niet lang te wachten (ondanks het restaurant vrij vol zat), precies goed als ik het zelf moet zeggen. Zeker een aanrader en wij komen vast nog eens weer in de toekomst!

Biefstuk van de grill is hier heerlijk mals. Op het menu stond dat er groenten bij geserveerd zouden worden, maar het enige wat we erbij kregen was rauwe courgette plakjes. Echt waardeloos. Als er op het menu staat dat er groenten bij wordt geserveerd verwacht ik échte groenten, en niet wat goedkope rauwe plakjes. Het toetje is in deze tent bedroefend. Ik bestelde gemarineerde ananas. Wat ik kreeg: één plakje ananas met een klein bolletje ijs erop met nog wat gepriegel aan versiering. En daar vragen ze 9 euro voor!!! Dat vind ik echt schandalig. Kom hier ook nooit meer terug.

Nice atmospheric restaurant with very attentive and nice staff. The food was fine. We found the duck liver carpaccio disappointing because the liver was in small pieces in the cheese. Because of this you couldn't taste any liver. This was also reported to management. She would pass it on to the cook. Furthermore, we were able to share dishes without any difficulty. We had a pleasant evening.

On Christmas Day we dropped in without a reservation in the afternoon, hoping to get something to eat. We were welcomed very friendly and given a nice table with great bar stools at the bar. That was a good start:-) After having perused the menu, we suddenly had a brilliant idea (we thought) not to opt for a regular Christmas dinner, but to order a delicious snack platter, with bread and truffle fries. Boy, that was a table full. We had a wonderful time. We really liked that the owner noticed that we were having such a great time. He came over for a nice chat, not because he had to, but because he liked that we had chosen an alternative Christmas dinner:-) For dessert we ordered a hazelnut, really delicious! We felt very welcome and had a delicious meal. Really great! Thanks again for the hospitality, the delicious food, the great service and the pleasant atmosphere. Definitely see you again, but first we need to relax:-)

A cozy place with excellent food. It was quite full this Friday evening and it was quite noisy. So you have to speak a little louder to understand each other. In the beginning it took a while before we were helped, but later the service came by regularly and we also got the forgotten bread. The food tasted good. As a starter, the Proeverij 't Gelagh is a nice combination of 3 starters. The salmon bonbon also tasted great. As a main course we had salmon fillet and steak. And for dessert the cookie jar (recommended) and the hazelino. The staff was very friendly.

Went for lunch this afternoon, which we do regularly here. This time we had 4 steaks on the table. Unfortunately, one of them turned out to smell sour and taste sour. We had enough comparison material with 3 more steaks on the side and after everyone had tasted it decided to send the "sour smelling/tasting" steak back. Service responded nicely and took the meat away. Came back and said a new one was being made. Fine. All this took more than fifteen minutes and then a "new" steak arrived. However, we immediately saw that the meat was in 2 pieces and it turned out to be the same steak. Didn't feel like arguing, so added "extra" herb butter and let it go. However, I did report this to the waiter when they came to ask if it was all right. Were clearly not informed of the chef's decision. Back to the chef to inquire. First reaction was that the steak was in 2 pieces to check whether it was properly cooked. ????? There was no discussion about that, it was sour but all steaks were well cooked. Back to the kitchen again and then the response came that the chef had tasted it and in his opinion the steak was good. Strange that it took more than fifteen minutes before he came back. And if 3 people say that the meat is sour, it's strange that he doesn't think so. Very strange reaction, especially if you wait so long to give the meat back, and if 3 people find it. Shame!!! Expected a more professional response. The service cannot do anything with this, because the chef has spoken. Next time, move on to another occasion, because such a reaction and way of solving the problem is simply not okay. Your response is incorrect. There is no new one prepared, it has also been confirmed by your staff!!! It was simply said that the chef has tasted it, it is not sour! The discussion was not well done. If the chef has to cut open a steak to see if it is cooked properly, I think something is going wrong. The comment that I only stated after eating is also NOT correct, I reported it immediately! They come from the catering industry themselves and are not crazy. So you say it's a shame about this review, I say it's a shame that you deny and don't simply acknowledge that it didn't go well!

Large outdoor terrace under old chestnut trees. Quiet environment on the edge of a pedestrian zone. Service was a bit spotty at first, but got better and faster. The menu is good and offers something for everyone (fish, meat, salad, etc.) - In addition, an extra menu with allergens / gluten-free dishes with a large selection is possible (largest menu we have seen so far). Dishes (hamburger and salmon) tasted good, were nicely presented and were of a suitable size (almost too much). Price-performance ratio is great - drinks are slightly too expensive. 👍🧑‍🍳 Gladly again

Had lunch at the pub this afternoon, excellent service, everyone super friendly. the food was also delicious and affordable.

After a day of cycling in the area, we ordered dinner outside on the beautiful terrace under the chestnut trees. Unfortunately something went wrong with the order. My wife ordered sea bass but was served salmon, at the same time I received my 400gr XXL steak. The salmon was immediately returned. The fries were also missing for both. So I had to start with my 'bare' steak alone. More than 5 minutes later the sea bass and fries arrived. But the fries were for one person while we ordered for two. That was quickly corrected. In the end we had a delicious meal and the quality was excellent. Too bad about the mistakes in the service, but to compensate, the glass of white wine was taken off the bill. If we are in the area we will definitely go back because this was an incident, which you could clearly see from how it was handled.

Cozy setting; friendly service.. nice menu but preparation could be better.. especially the pork belly was substandard actually only fat and very little meat so tough and boring unfortunately the garnish was great as well as the truffle fries..

Wat hebben wij lekker gegeten bij het Gelagh! Toen het wat frisser werd op het terras konden we in de serre plaats nemen voor het diner, waar we enorm van hebben genoten. Het personeel was erg vlot, spontaan, goedlachs en vooral erg hartelijk, wij hebben ons heeeeeeeeeeel welkom gevoeld en komen hier zeker nog eens terug.

Hadden een pocket bowl besteld en de komkommer waren slecht. Waardoor mijn vriendin nu diaree heeft en moet overgeven de dag nadien.

Met een vriendin onder de kastanjebomen fantastisch gegeten. Zeebaars en Bietenrisotto. Meer dan uitstekend! De bediening was echt leuk en deskundig. Ook kreeg de hond een heerlijke bak vers water. Prijs kwaliteitverhouding helemaal oké. Dikke aanrader dus ;-)

Been before, especially outside a cozy place.

Prima en lekker eten, daar was niets op aan te merken. Van de bedieningsbrigade was er echter maar één die plezier in haar werk scheen te hebben. Daarnaast twee keer vragen naar vergeten bestelling heeft dat invloed op de beleving bij eten bij T’ Gelagh. Hier hebben we eerder andere, leukere, ervaring gehad.

Quietly located, terrace. Friendly, smooth service. Price/quality okay.
