We ate at 't Hoofd again tonight because they deserve a second chance. They more than lived up to that promise!! The food was delicious, and the service was excellent! I'll definitely be back. Addition: The owner called me and offered me a second chance, with free drinks and an appetizer. Nice! I made another reservation to give the restaurant a second chance. I'll rewrite this review after dinner. The service was poor. After an hour, we asked if we could order some food. Then, after a long wait, the wrong meals were served. We finally left. Without batting an eyelid, we were charged the full price for what we ate. A truly awful restaurant. Never again!

I recently dined at Restaurant Hoofd in Maassluis, and I must say: it was a truly wonderful experience. From the moment I walked in, it felt warm and welcoming. The interior is cozy without being overcrowded, and the staff is friendly, attentive, and present just right—something that always speaks volumes to a restaurant's atmosphere. I chose the pork schnitzel with all the trimmings, and it absolutely did not disappoint. The schnitzel was wonderfully tender, well-cooked, and above all, delicious. It was the kind of dish that truly fills you up, just what you hope for when you're craving something hearty and filling. The fries that came with it were perfect: crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and seasoned just right. A recommendation I'd give everyone is to order the sweet potato as a side dish. It made everything just that little bit more special. The combination of savory and slightly sweet worked surprisingly well and really added something extra to the dish. And then dessert... you can order a Koekela pastry, which was truly the icing on the cake. Fresh, flavorful, and just the right amount of sweetness — a perfect end to the evening. All in all, I enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, and the service at Restaurant Hoofd. It feels like the kind of place you'd love to return to. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a delicious and relaxing meal in Maassluis! 🍽️✨

Only one downside: When I booked a table at noon, it was expected that I'd be assigned a neatly decorated table. The serving process (ordering) wasn't what I expected, even though there's plenty of space. I also can't quite get used to using the phone to take orders. Bread with spread and Serrano ham was the starter. For the main course, two satays and one salmon. I had the salmon, which was very tasty and worth repeating. The chicken satay was adequate. The chicken satay was dry, but the satay sauce was tasty. The pickles (cucumber and pickled cucumber) rounded out the dish. Good portions. The service and ambiance are good, and the staff are friendly.

Service was a bit slow to get started. We had to wait a long time for our first drinks, even though it wasn't busy at all. We saw the drinks on the bar for a while, but everyone just kept walking past. But it all worked out. The rest of the evening was well-served. We also had a delicious meal and enjoyed it. We'll definitely be back!

It's fine, except for one thing that's simply impossible. The fresh orange juice I ordered for my mother was diluted with water. You could clearly taste it. It's a real shame, and I can't believe it. Unfortunately.

The menu offers plenty of choice, and the food was excellent. Friendly staff, though I do find it a bit of a drawback because some tables are very close together.

We had a delicious meal for a good price. It's a shame the weather wasn't great, otherwise we could have sat outside on the terrace. We'll have to come back again when the weather is better. That's definitely not a punishment!

The toasted sandwich from the children's menu is highly recommended! 6 euros for four thick toasted sandwiches, and even nachos are included. The service and view were also top-notch.

Reception was very chaotic. We were given a table in the middle of the aisle. Asking for a different spot was difficult. Eventually, the table was moved, now very close to other guests. We weren't asked if we were satisfied. I got the impression that the heat and crowds were too much for the staff.

A lovely spot to eat and relax outside, overlooking the Nieuwe Waterweg. The food was excellent, but the service, provided by young ladies, could have been a bit more attentive. We drank two coffees, and the pastries arrived afterward. Strange. I did get a sweet smile when I noticed. The salt shaker was empty, but I had to remind the lady who was helping us. The food was almost gone. "Maybe I forgot," was the colleague's comment. Suppose it's very busy, there won't be time to check the phone. So, it could be better.

The atmosphere and service were great! I had spicy chicken; it was delicious, but I'd definitely recommend using less sauce, as the bread was soaked in chili sauce. Because of this, you can't taste what the chef has prepared.

The food, well, I thought the portions were a bit meager. Could be a bit bigger. A chicken satay is one skewer with some kind of prawn crackers and a little greens. The fries are also a bit small. The steak was okay, spare ribs, two slices, mmm. I ordered a pan of mussels, which could have been a bit bigger in my opinion. Tasty, though. Maybe I'm a big eater. It's fine, but I'd go for the ice cream. Price/quality/quantity. Prices are reasonable for the food considering the quality, but the quantity is a bit meager. It's not a Michelin-starred restaurant, but a Grand Café, and in a Grand Café, I think the prices could be a bit more generous. A glass of wine could also be a bit lower. 6 euros for a glass of wine, meh. The service is excellent; the boys and girls go above and beyond. The welcome is great. They don't constantly nag at your table. There's also plenty of staff. Will I come back again? Probably.

Don't order Peking duck. You'll get chunks of fat with very little meat. Strange reaction. We immediately pointed out that the meat was all fat.

On August 3rd, I dined at 't Hoofd again. One of the main courses (fish & chips) unfortunately received criticism this time, specifically for the "fish." I think the fish had only been fried with the batter (without the breading), resulting in a hard and very greasy coating. The fish itself was good, but that was negated by the coating. A shame, because the other dishes were excellent. The service, for which I commend them, passed my criticism on to the kitchen.

We enjoyed our dinner, friendly service, beautiful location and delicious food, we will definitely go here again.

Delicious food. Good lunch menu. Large portions for a great price. Only it was very busy so the service was also busy and therefore had to keep looking for attention to order something.

I found the bread that was supposed to be white bread very dry. The shrimp croquettes were also not great. Staff correct and friendly.

Had lunch with friends on the terrace yesterday. Lovely place. Only the bread Carpaccio was very disappointing. At my first bite I thought it was a bit bland. Added some more salt. There was very little truffle mayo on it. Also no pine nuts and cheese. I don't know any better than that you always get that on it at other restaurants. My friends had a tuna salad sandwich, their plate was overflowing with salad on their plate. They gave me some because they thought it looked so meager at my place. And by the way, the menu says sandwiches. We got 2 brown sandwiches. :) Otherwise okay.

We were with a group that hadn't seen each other for a long time. Lots to catch up on. The person who helped us gave us all the space, even when we stayed seated for a long time. That hospitality and the delicious food made it possible for us to have a wonderful evening together. Chapeau. The young man deserves 5 stars!!

Had a great meal yesterday at 't Hoofd in Maassluis! We had the steak Bangkok and that is highly recommended, delicious tender meat in a spicy gravy with vegetables. Served with bread and crispy fries! Friendly staff! Cozy terrace with a view of the Maas with the passing boats. Will definitely come back again!

Had a great meal outside in the sun. The only downside is that a bottle of wine starts at 34 euros, which is quite expensive. Most house wines are around 25 euros.

Nice place along the water, food was good. Service good, parking free but fairly limited, especially on hot days when it is a bit busier. You cannot go here for breakfast. Kitchen opens from 12:00. I would prefer an hour or a little earlier.

Rarely do you get such a large portion of salmon; and that in the beautiful seating area on the waterfront!!

The ambience is very nice - especially outside. Right on the beach/water. The young service staff are courteous, quick and friendly. Unfortunately German communication is hardly possible. But you can do it with your hands and feet 🙂. The prices are proud for German standards. 5 euros for 0.3 liter bottled beer. Citizens and FISH & Chips around 20 euros. Quality good. Update 08.05. In the evening again for a nightcap. The male waiter made it clear that he wasn't interested. The advice on the size of the beer 🍺 not really customer-oriented. The female service is professional and customer-oriented.
