Grand Café van Piet Hein Eek in Halve Maan

Way too expensive for what it is. I bought a smoky ribeye focaccia for 12 euros. The piece of meat in it was thinner than cling film, and their patience was clearly lacking. The service was unfriendly and practically nonexistent. We didn't even get a napkin, let alone a plate. Focaccia was simply eaten in the wrapping, which made the already dirty tables even dirtier. For twelve euros, I can buy more than two sandwiches, and the focaccia here wasn't even as big as my palm. The neighbors also heard the bread crunching in my mouth. It was that hard! Writing this review has certainly improved the atmosphere.

It was busy, good, and delicious. Perfect for a break during DDW.

Okay, if you're just opening during DDW, you can expect it to be busy. But when you make your reservation early in the evening, you learn, for example, that the fries with the steak from the special DDW menu are already gone, you have to wait over an hour for your main course, and the chicken piripiri isn't even close to the blandest pepper in existence... then there's little left to make up for the series of disappointments. Vegetarians can expect a meager half eggplant with some crispy potato pieces for €22. A real disappointment.

Leuk restaurant met erg lekker eten en geweldige bediening. De kok weet waar hij mee bezig is. De dame bij het diner ‘s avonds was geweldig en ook de dame ‘s morgens bij het ontbijt. Alles klopte!

Visited on Saturday. Drinks were quickly on the table. The quiche and salmon flammkuchen not. Had to wait 45 minutes for that (in a really not busy place). Prices 'normal'.

It was a bit chaotic when I arrived. There was a long line at the bar. And yes, I have to say: the restrooms should be kept in good order on days like this. They really weren't clean.

Tasty latte macchiato, but the croquette sandwich is very “overpriced”. It is a small, simple white sandwich with a croquette, a bowl of mustard and a mini bowl of vegetables, but you pay €10 for this!

Real local ingredients with an inspiring story behind them. You can really taste a difference in the dishes compared to other restaurants that do not use local vegetables and products. In addition, fantastic service, drinks, decoration in the grand café and all for a low price! Highly recommended for those who want better and cheaper food around Strijp-S.

No taste to the food. It all tasted like nothing. I missed the tasty taste.

A highlight off the beaten track in Eindhoven. Delicious food with complex flavors. If you can, have a chat with the chef. All ingredients are sourced as local as possible. Bold flavors and textures. We especially liked the buffalo roast beef.

Thank you guys so much for the great experience yesterday. The kids are still full of their adventure making their own Vegadell and winning this gorgeous chair. We will be visiting again soon.

We enjoyed a tasty pumpkin-sweet potato soup, garnished with pesto and floral decoration, served with good toasted wholemeal bread and the essential bitterballen. Followed by a good cappuccino. Everything was excellent and sufficient. Very smiling service. Original and pleasant industrial design decor. Ideal to start a visit to the very nice store.

We hebben in het hotel geslapen, prachtige kamer! Het diner was erg lekker. We hadden een plank met verschillende gerechtjes waarvan alle ingrediënten uit de omgeving kwamen vooraf, en diamanthaas als hoofdgerecht. Het was meer dan genoeg. Als toetje hadden we koffie met spekkoek en appeltaart. Personeel was geweldig, de gastheer vertelde met passie over de gerechten. Erg leuk. Wij komen zeker nog eens terug hier.

We visited Grand Cafe during DDW. Unfortunately the food was very poor. We ordered 2 different sandwiches. Think they forgot hummus, as it was very dry. The quiche was ok but not warm. The tomato soup was good but very small - the bread was dry. We were also sorry to see that the cafe was so small now but we understand that things change and the previous cafe was too big. The lady at the cafe, who took our order, was very confused and seemed like she wanted to run away. All in all, very disappointing. We love Piet Hein Eek and we will for sure come back. But maybe eat somewhere else next time. (Staff in the shop was very helpful when we wanted to buy furniture).

Prachtige sfeer en aankleding en design Dat schept hoge verwachtingen ook ivm de hoge prijzen: saladbar €25,00 We gingen lunchen tijdens de DDW. Hebben lunch buffet, soep en salade box besteld. Soep was lauw, en het eten gewoon ‘ ruk’: zompige pasta salade, zalm uitgedroogd. Weinig smaak aan de gerechten. Geen boter bij brood, ook toen daar om gevraagd werd. La Place levert betere kwaliteit. De bediening: vriendelijk maar duidelijk onervaren: 4x lopen voordat iedereen bestek en t bestelde eten had. Niet tegelijk uitserveren. We komen voor de sfeer graag nog eens terug en bestellen dan alleen koffie of een ander drankje. Jammer

Very enjoyable evening with a perfect sturgeon plate. Friendly staff, can't think of anything to fault. Definitely a place worth going to, if you want something slightly off-beat.

Vorig weekend hebben wij in het Hotel overnacht en gedineerd bij het grand café. Het is een mooi café waar je kan genieten van de aankleding. Personeel was vriendelijk en vlot. Helaas was de dag vis niet lekker. Na meldden hebben we netjes een nieuw gerecht gekregen. We hebben een leuke avond gehad. Het eten was niet super en dat is het enige waar nog in verbeterd kan worden. Mooie locatie en een aanrader als je in het hotel overnacht of de winkel komt bezoeken.

Wat een heerlijke plek! Wij houden van de industriële omgeving. Prachtig ingericht. Vriendelijk personeel. Het eten is echt heerlijk! Het duurt wat langer dus neem de tijd en heb geen haast maar geniet.

Visited the newly opened ‘grand cafe’ for lunch today and I so wanted it to be fabulous. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. The new cafe is much smaller and has lost its wow factor, which is not balanced out by the new decor. The waitress was very smiley but not great at being a waitress. She did however tell us she was new, so hopefully that was a blip. The food was nice, but it feels like it’s gone up a lot (but not the drinks?) and was not worth the price in my opinion. Apparently the focus is on local produce which is great, but there still has to be a price/quality balance. We were both regular visitors to the old restaurant (and the Lobby Restaurant too) and big fans. I really hope that time improves the Grand Cafe and we can be regular visitors again. A couple of ‘tips’ for the kitchen: - the platter should come with a bit more bread - the side salads should be dressed

We hadden ons heel wat voorgesteld van dit restaurant. Op de locatie en de inrichting is niet veel aan te merken. Ook de drankjes - heerlijk lokaal bier - en de borrelhapjes - fantastische vegan bitterballen - waren een mooie start. Ronduit lachwekkend was de amuse van het huis. Enkele stengels rauwe groente met een beetje truffelolie. Nul inspanning, nul creativiteit. Alle drie de door ons gekozen hoofdgerechten ontbeerden een ding: groente. De risotto met asperges had 3 magere asperges, de zwaardvis had een klein beetje groente, de gnocchi zaten in een tomatensaus met verder niets erbij. Er was verder ook geen gelegenheid om groente apart bij te bestellen, dit bijgerecht bestond niet op de kaart. Waar gaat het hier mis? Is men te beroerd om voor 50 cent meer een paar asperges of een bakje sla toe te voegen? Dit zijn geen volwaardige maaltijden, daar doen die rauwe groentestengels niets aan af. De desserts waren prima, dus wel sloten wel goed af. Bijzonder was dat het personeel op geen enkel moment heeft gevraagd of het smaakte, of alles naar wens was etc...? Is dit een bewuste keuze, ingegeven door zelfkennis of de karigheid van het gebodene?

A private location with a peaceful and chic atmosphere and a nice terrace to enjoy the good weather days. Service was attentive and brought us tap water to the table a couple of times, which as nice when you walk in thirsty. The menu options are limited but price is good and so is the quality. We tried different options, my preference goes to the salmon flammkuchen! 👌 I would come back, I really like the location and the store in the ground floor.

Un endroit à la hauteur de son propriétaire. Tout est dans le ton de son projet. Rien ne se perd, tout se crée. Une belle carte, simple mais efficace. Des prix raisonnables et un service excellent. Il ne faut rien changer

Restaurante de ambiente industrial con diseño actual de materiales recicados. Hicimos un brunch súper bueno. La atención de las señoras que lo llevan es muy agradable y profesional, haciéndote sentir como en casa a la vez que respetan tu independencia. Un 10!!!

Heerlijk in het herfstzonnetje op het terras

I'm Dutch and from Eindhoven. So I have material for comparison in the city. The boeuf bourguignon was really bad. I know what I'm talking about, and it really wasn't good: - super salty - meat wasn't tender at all - sauce / jus was not complex and quite unimpressive, it was also very "sriracha" red, something I wouldn't expect - it was cold in the middle - had no extra accompaniments, besides a small salad that didn't fit with the dish at all Overall it tasted bad, and it seemed like it was microwaved. Service was great, so one star for that. Food really bad.

Had simple sandwiches at the ground floor cafe during the DDW week. Taste is fine. And good we could get food right next to the exhibition. The downside is that the cafe is still under refurbishing: there were drilling noise, and all toilet sinks did not have water.

Natuurlijk de ddw is het drukste moment van het jaar maar werkelijk niets klopte. De bediening maakte een zeer onervaren indruk, gerechten werden vergeten, het brood was zeer oud, het eten was koud etc. Prijs kwaliteit was gewoon slecht. Kortom echt geen aanrader. Week ervoor ontbeten in het hotel en dat was fantastisch.

Er wordt flink verbouwd in het gebouw waar eerst het restaurant was. Het nieuwe restaurant (boven de winkel) heeft een rooftop, wat prachtig is. Het ligt wel midden in een woonwijk, dus een mooi uitzicht is het niet echt. Prima kaart, bediening is attent, en snel. Ga met de lift naar de 2e verdieping en je bent er.

Heerlijk gegeten met heerlijke passende wijnen op een iconische locatie in Eindhoven. Het terras is een aanrader en bevind zich naast de hotel lobby. Wij hadden de bavette, de aubergine en de heek.

Lekker gegeten op het gezellige terras. De menukaart is beperkt.

The ground floor restaurant disappeared. The new café has an outdoor terrace; nice addition, but the view is very disappointing. The new French Fries takeaway has a nice indoor seating; outdoor should have the greens and seats of that were present before outside the restaurant. Nice French Fries! Very friendly guys.
