Grand Café Van Ruysdael in Wijk 01 Heemskerk-Dorp

Looks cozy, the prawn starter was delicious, the main course was mediocre, and the spare ribs were very bland. Service was poor and slow; we didn't see anyone at our table for drinks for an hour and a half. Quite expensive. We sat in the back near the restrooms, the door kept opening and closing, and then there was that sewer smell... We won't be returning.

Grand Café Van Ruysdael offers excellent food. The dishes are very flavorful! The devilish shrimp are especially delicious. It's always a treat to dine at this restaurant! The only downside is the poor acoustics. The noise from other guests can become overwhelming, making it difficult to hear each other. Despite this...highly recommended!

Everything is great, the staff is so friendly. The lunch, high tea, and dinner are all delicious, and the tapas week is also highly recommended. In short, the best, most cozy, and fun place in North Holland.

Friendly staff, good service, reasonable prices, a great location, and most importantly, they stay open late. We had delicious coffee and ordered a dessert that was far too sweet.

Ruysdael is always a great place to have a drink with friends. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. Personally, I don't think the food is the best in the area, but it's certainly excellent and perfect for a pleasant evening out.

A lovely restaurant with consistently friendly staff. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced. It's located in the center of Heemskerk, where you'll also find most of the shops. An ideal location.

We had a wonderful and cozy dinner at Café van Ruysdael! It was a lovely, warm day, and we decided to end the day with dinner at Café van Ruysdael. We really enjoyed it! First, a friendly waitress welcomed us and suggested we choose a table. We chose a nice spot in the sun. The staff was very friendly and quick to our table to help us order and answer questions about the menu. The staff also explained the "catch of the day," "soup of the day," and other special items on the menu. I ultimately chose the fried burrata, catch of the day, and cheesecake. The fried burrata was a pleasant surprise! The burrata was still beautifully soft and creamy on the inside and had a nice crispy exterior, surrounded by delicious tomatoes and honey. The catch of the day was also delicious and looked great. Although the sauce seemed a bit thin/watery, it was still tasty... a small drawback in the presentation. The cheesecake was fine, but not exceptional. The presentation looked good and the taste was fine, but it didn't stand out from other cheesecakes. The price-quality ratio was excellent. We were very satisfied, it tasted great, and we enjoyed the sunshine. All in all, highly recommended if you're in the area.

Cozy little spot in Heemskerk. You really get your money's worth. The carpaccio salad was absolutely enormous! I even got two slices of bread with it. The coffee and prosecco were also fantastic. I'll definitely be back!

Had dinner early on a Monday evening. No need to make a reservation, the terrace and the restaurant were largely empty. We took a basket of bread (6 euros) and a bittergarnituur (15 euros) as a starter. Then a burrata (13 euros) and a satay chicken (21 euros). Excellent food for a grand café/brasserie.

The service here is always great. We like to come here for a bite to eat or a nice drink. The girls in the service are always cheerful and nothing is too much to ask. The food is not "star restaurant quality", but fine for what it is. The cocktails on the other hand are very tasty.

The restaurant was taken over by another owner about a year ago. Do you notice a difference? In terms of food, not in terms of service. Have eaten here often, also for lunch, the food is excellent. Snacks also tasty, but the service is a bit less. Asked for extra chopsticks because there were two of us. I think it was too much to ask, I got a look like, should that be the case? Excuse me? All in all a successful evening. I was just surprised by her reaction... Gyoza's were great, the fries with truffle mayo Please do something about the service and it will be 5 stars.

You can have a nice lunch there

After many years (if I say so myself) of being a loyal customer, tonight was not a good experience! We first sat “outside” under the canopy. We were quickly approached and the drinks arrived on the table a little later. Due to the cold and hardly any staff outside, we went inside. The service there was even worse. It was a quiet evening, the place was not even half full with customers. Almost all of the staff were chatting happily in the kitchen. In the meantime I had been sitting with an empty glass for over 20 minutes. So I decided to go to the bar for a new beer, where I was looked at strangely. Still, I got my beer. Due to my facial expression, we were then served at the table in an artificial manner. Based on the experiences I have had in this restaurant, the quality is deteriorating. I just had to get this off my chest! And one additional thing, the toilets. A urinal was clogged. This is also rarely or not looked at at all. Hopefully things will get better again, otherwise they will lose me and several people.

Wooow! It looked like a cozy, small family diner from the outside. When you enter, you realize it's all but small. And then you get the menu! I'm a fish 🐟 and seafood 🦞 addict, and every from-the-sea meal just beggs to be eaten. I'm also a steak 🥩 lover really blue, slightly browned from the outside and slightly warmed, red and bloody on the inside. I specifically asked for it, they delivered perfectly! And ... on top of everything, truffle and Parmesan seasoned fries (I asked for sweet potatoe ones, they obliged, even though it wasn't on the menu) - just divine! I have a sweet tooth and their dessert menu is impressive, but I had to pass - I was already too full. In short, memorable experience! And, to be repeated!!!

Ze hebben tapas avonden in Juli en Augustus voor €31,50 pp. Ten eerste wilden we gaan zitten en toen mocht dat niet op die plek, want er kwam een grotere groep die daar had gereserveerd. Guess what? Deze kwamen niet. Ten tweede was het een beperkte kaart, waardoor we gerechte 2x hadden besteld. En waren de desserts exclusief arrangement. Ten derde kreeg ik een Spaanse koude soep in een kapot glaasje, had de parmaham een verotte nasmaak. Hier een melding van gemaakt maar noet het idee dat het iets interesseerde. Voor de rest van sommige gerechten ook het idee dat ze niet vers waren. Al met al geen aanrader en hebben we onze twijfels of het andere eten wel smaakvol zal zijn...

The food was very good, as was the service until a well-known influencer came in. After this, all attention was focused on this table and we had to wait longer and longer. Quite a letdown, I would have thought that all guests would be welcome and would be helped with all the attention.

Entourage superleuk. Wij gingen altijd graag hier naartoe maar sinds ze de kaart hebben aangepast vrees ik dat dat minder gaat gebeuren. De keuze was eerst reuze maar nu staat er niet eens meer zalm op de kaart 🫤 alle maaltijdsalades zijn eraf gehaald heel jammer. Weinig keuze in vis etc. Dus misschien weer terug naar de “ oude “ succesvolle kaart

Zaten lekkere gerechten tussen zag ik om me heen. Maar deze salade sloeg echt nergens op met hele tomaten en zonder dressing.

5 stars well deserved! Luckily I had made a reservation for lunch on Mother's Day, the terrace was packed and not without reason. Friendly and quick service and an excellent meal.

Great tent. Nice terrace and cozy interior. The food at the bar is also great. Small but surprising menu with tasty dishes. Changing beer on tap. Update May 7, 2024. Dined inside. Very calm. The outdoor terrace was full. Food was OK, but service far below par. We were dry for too long. There was not enough attention, even after hints from the waiter. Too bad about the experience and turnover. Owner, better training your staff creates better experiences!

The place to be with this beautiful weather. Always nice and chill on the terrace and friendly service. The food is delicious and the tuna sandwich is highly recommended. Nice area to visit some shops.

Today I sat at the bar. I was quickly asked what you wanted to drink, which soon came. I calmly looked at what I wanted for lunch and already found the choice, but it turns out that if you are alone you are not helped quickly. After my drink was finished I waited another 20 minutes before being asked if I wanted another drink. Unfortunately, that is no longer necessary. If there is no cutlery on the table, one must still order and then one should not walk by, look and not take an order. must see it. This is the 3rd time this has happened to me in this occasion and I came there regularly.

Today we celebrated my daughter's baby shower with a high tea baby shower package. The atmosphere was cozy and the snacks were delicious. What was a shame is that they offer gluten free, but not really. Because cross-contamination cannot be ruled out, according to the restaurant. Maybe don't offer it because that still remains a risk for the guest who has to eat gluten-free. It is not a choice but a serious condition. I also found it very strange that 1 euro per person was charged for 2 balloons, 2 streamers, and some decorations. So for us this was 10 people, so 10 euros. If you come with 20 people, you will lose 20. In addition, it is a baby shower package and it seems logical to me that something like this is included in the rate. Didn't think it was worth discussing on the spot, but thought it was strange. Anyway, it was fun and delicious.

We have eaten inside once, but when it is busy the noise is so loud that you cannot talk normally to each other. Now we sat on a quiet covered outdoor terrace and we liked it very much. Nice staff.

Beautiful cafe, very atmospheric. 28 euros for a round steak (which was nicely cooked) served on 4 whole carrots. I found it very disappointing, then mix a few types of vegetables on the grill. The green pepper sauce also had far too strong a taste. You also only get 1 bowl of fries, even though you both have a dish that should be served with your own fries. As a starter we had a sandwich with herb butter and aoili for 6 euros and got a bun the size of a Kaiser bun. I wouldn't come back here again, very pricey and food was mediocre. Atmosphere and decor very nice.

They have the event "Bruys". Bought tickets for 7 people at €9 per ticket, and you will not be allowed in. Too bad and our money is gone!...
