Grieks restaurant Aphrodite in Wijk 04: Berg en Terblijt - Vilt

My wife has a long-term illness. When we occasionally go out for dinner, it can happen that she needs to lie down briefly in between courses to manage her symptoms. That is why we had deliberately chosen a quiet spot in a corner. To our surprise, just before the main course, the manager told us that this would not be respectful towards other guests. He even added: "I have a restaurant, not a hotel." What made this particularly painful was that not a single other guest seemed to have a problem with it. When I tried to explain why this was necessary for my wife, I received absolutely no understanding or sympathy. Eventually, we were allowed to sit in a separate room at the back, but by that point, the tone had already been set. We did not feel welcome and certainly not taken seriously. In all these years, we have never experienced so little understanding being shown for someone with a serious illness. The staff seemed visibly uncomfortable with the situation but apparently did not dare to say anything about it. We therefore left immediately. Everyone is entitled to a different opinion once in a while, but surely you can expect a little humanity and empathy. For us, this was a very disappointing and disrespectful experience.

You simply have to visit this place! 🙌 What a fantastic spot! The atmosphere is great and the staff is incredibly nice and friendly. A solid 10 for the hospitality and quality. We come here so often; I would recommend this to everyone. Until next time!

We ate there a few weeks ago; it was very noisy and cold because the front door remained open even after we asked if it could be closed. Even after paying the bill, we weren't given a proper good evening. We won't be going back here.

The food was too salty for me. Service was very slow; it takes a long time for drinks to be brought. When staff walk through the dining area, they do not ask if we want another drink or if everything is to our liking. We were still in the mood for dessert, but there was no staff to be seen for at least half an hour to take our order. After mentioning this to the waitress, she said she was eating herself. Okay, but there was other staff present. A shame about this evening. I don't know if I will go back.

The food was good, but I had the impression that as soon as dinner was taken, it would be over. I sat waiting for ages for someone for dessert, but no such luck. Thanks to understaffing perhaps, but........oh well.....

Deliciously tender and well-seasoned meat. Great gyros and nice large portions. Free glass of ouzo on the house and the dolmadakia starter was also incredibly tasty. The restaurant was very busy but the food certainly didn't take too long and the service was well under control. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

Nice and relaxing to sit there. The staff do their best to be as good as possible. The food was super tasty and affordable. The portions are plentiful and we could barely finish it with the starter. We will definitely be back!

The food was amazing and the service very friendly. One comment: the acoustics are poor; the sound of people talking is so loud that you can barely have a normal conversation together.

We dined here recently, and the evening left us with mixed feelings. Regarding the food, nothing but praise: the grilled meat was well-seasoned and well-prepared. There is really very little to criticize there. The biggest sticking point of the evening was the service. It took an incredibly long time for someone to come to our table to take our order. We sat with empty glasses for a long time between courses; if the staff had been a bit more alert, they could have sold twice as many drinks (and perhaps even a dessert). By the end of the evening, there was absolutely no one left in the restaurant. We eventually had to search for the wait staff ourselves to ask for the bill and settle the bill. It is a shame, because with a bit more attention to the guests, this could be a fine establishment. Food gets a solid pass, but service is unfortunately substandard.

Takeaway service not up to par. Everyone says on the phone it will be ready in half an hour, you get there and sit waiting for another half hour. Then let people know on the phone that it will take longer, you ask the owner why this happens so often (I used to go there weekly) he says, "Well, then you shouldn't come anymore." What a rude jerk he is 🤮

It was incredibly busy, but the staff really did their best and were super friendly; truly respectful. The food was super tasty, a bit plentiful so you get plenty for your money.

We had to wait 1.5 hours for the main course. It was stifling hot inside; we asked if the air conditioning could be turned on, but that was apparently too much to ask. The entire table was piled high with plates, empty glasses, and bottles of drinks. We had to ask three times if they could pack up the leftover food. After payment, there was even a dish on the bill that we hadn't ordered. We contacted them by phone; they said they didn't have time because they were busy with customers. What are we to say?? The man hung up out of nowhere. We are left with €240. Service is a big fat zero.

A very warm welcome. The dog was immediately given cool water. The dishes were wonderfully fresh and the meat was very tender.

It was completely full, but despite the crowds, the service remained incredibly friendly and the food was really tasty. We enjoyed ourselves and will definitely come back again!

Ate here tonight, it was truly top-notch! 71. Aphrodite platter. Ate a lot, large portions and no rushing, everything at a leisurely pace. I see reviews here that are sometimes a bit less positive, but we are very positive.

Great Greek place. One of the best around outside Maastricht. I go there every time with my little family. Flexible, wait time is short (I haven't had any bad experiences with waiting times). The staff are good to us and work hard. And the price with the food is good too!

To ensure our survival in the holiday home, we first stocked up on Greek delicacies. As pick-up customers, we were struck by the friendly, relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant. The wait was pleasantly short, and by the time we unpacked our culinary treasures, we knew: This was absolutely the right decision! The appetizers, in particular, more than impressed us – truly exceptional in taste. And all at a very fair price. In short: Delicious, welcoming, and highly recommended. We'll definitely be back! 🙂👍

Delicious food. It was very cold in the restaurant upon arrival. The wait for the main course took far too long. The food was simply delicious. Definitely recommended. The price of the soup was way too high because we felt it was just broth.

Reservations for 10 people for Christmas Day at 5:00 PM. We had given the waiter the starter and main course. The starter took a while to arrive. No problem, it was Christmas time after all and very busy. Then we had to wait 50 minutes for the main course. That wasn't a problem at that time either. The food was good. When we finished, the waiter asked if we wanted dessert. Yes, we did. When we tried to order, the waiter told us he wasn't serving dessert anymore and that we had to leave because the next shift was already waiting. He literally said...you have to go. We were stunned. This hadn't been communicated to the person who had made the reservation. We could have understood that. Then the courses could have been served closer together. It's a real shame that we ended Christmas Day with a hangover.

Delicious Greek food with generous portions. The staff is always friendly. When it's busy, you might have to wait a little longer than you're probably used to at other restaurants, but it's more than worth it. Highly recommended.

I rarely find myself being so negative here. After a day at the zoo, I called to see if we could go. It was 7:00 PM. We were 15 minutes early, so naturally, we had to wait. We finally got to our table. We received our drinks quickly. We ordered. Then the wait began. In between, we were served two baguettes with herb butter. At 8:15 PM, we were told the gyros platter (no. 43) wasn't available because there weren't enough gyros? Okay, so a souvlaki then... Fifteen minutes later, the food finally arrived. The gyros was really cold, the rest lukewarm, but the fries were nice and hot. Unfortunately, I didn't eat much of it; it was really too late for me. I understand it's busy on Sunday evenings, but I would have preferred to have been told it wasn't available when we called. It was the first and last time I've been here.

Six of us were supposed to eat at 7:00 PM. It ended up being 9:00 PM. It was chaos. When they served the food, they told us we'd be getting different food because they were out of gyros and souvlaki. They did this without any consultation. We've eaten there many times before, and it was delicious. What we got this time seemed frozen and cooked without any flavor. We protested immediately, and they didn't offer any solution or apology. Or perhaps they'd offer coffee and ouzo. We paid half the price, but in hindsight, it was still too much.

Excellent ingredients combined in a perfect balance. Kudos to the kitchen. A good ouzo and a robust retsina. Excellent value for money. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Unfortunately, the welcome drink was room-temperature ouzo. My husband's Coke was nice and cold, served in a glass or without, and my shandy was also cold, although the glass was still warm from the dishwasher. My bifteki was delicious, but unfortunately, there was only a hint of feta in it, only about 1cm x 1cm. The gyro that came with it was unfortunately very dry and cold. The tomato rice tasted very watery and had little tomato flavor, and the appetizer salad was very poorly prepared and tasted very oily. My husband had better luck than me with his meal choice. He opted for a grilled meat dish, and every piece of meat on the plate was juicy and delicious. Unfortunately, his rice tasted exactly like mine.

The food was delicious. However, we found the wait very long for our order. People who came in later also got their food first... Was it busy?? Short staffed?? Who knows? When I asked about the missing dish, the staff told me to calm down and quickly left. They did bring it later. I personally find their response rather rude. I understand it can be busy due to a lack of staff, but if they had told me they would bring the dish later, it would have been more polite. Once again, the food was delicious!

A delicious meal at Aphrodite, just as Greek food should be! Ouzo was on the house beforehand, the hospitality was friendly, the selection was wide, and the plates were filled with delicious, flavorful food! The only downside is that it's a three-hour drive from home...

Update: Went again with the family today, August 9th. The restaurant is clean and modern. Friendly service and delicious food. Not too many, but certainly not too few, good portions. Plenty of choice, everything well-prepared. Delicious side salads with every dish. Perfect! We'll be back! 🙏 Beautiful, pleasant, modern restaurant! Very busy, a bit noisy because of that. But all in all, a nice atmosphere. Delicious food! Friendly staff. We enjoyed it.

The food was delicious! Large portions. Our dog was allowed to come along; he slept comfortably under the table. The service was okay but could have been better towards the end. We had to wait quite a while for our plates to be cleared. I think if they were quicker, people would be more likely to order dessert or coffee afterward.

Don’t ever come here if your a British tourist you are most certainly not welcome. We asked for a little assistance in translating the menu as they did not have an English menu but got told to use google translate which is hard when your trying to decipher a whole menu. Staff very rude and demanded we paid for drinks even tho we had not touched them and the manager came out and said he didn’t speak very good English but he sounded fluent to us.

The food was delicious, but we had to wait more than 1.5 hours for the main course. Service was disappointing, the children were very hungry and they just had to wait. It's a shame if you have such a beautiful tent and then provide this service. It was packed and I would have offered my customers a drink for the inconvenience.

Nice cozy restaurant, food is very tasty, fresh and tastes good! The service is friendly, also the gentleman with the beard who is friendly, but that is a bit later in the evening. In short, it is worth it to eat delicious fresh Greek food here.

It's been a long time since we had such delicious Greek food, it was really delicious, friendly people! And affordable, that has become rare in the Netherlands!

Good portions of Greek food. Delivers consistent quality. Price/quality is perfectly fine. This time we went for the Lushnja dish. This dish consists of souvlaki, suzuki, mousaka, gyros, rice, fries, white beans, tzatziki and farmer's salad. No comments or comments about this dish.

We had a delicious meal here! They have an extensive menu with simply excellent prices. We were quickly provided with drinks. The service was good, very friendly. We got generous portions of food and it was really tasty. We did find it somewhat disturbing that it was very noisy. It is almost always busy here, which is of course a good thing, but we sometimes had difficulty understanding each other at the table. Otherwise a really great experience.

Been there for the first time and also the last time. We were given a table for 4 right at the entrance, where the pick-ups also have to pick up their food, of course the door often opened, so you were exposed to a draft. Menu was not known to staff, had to provide number not name of the dish. After you have eaten the main course, you will not see anyone again and you will no longer be asked for a drink or dessert. There was a sign outside that said "staff wanted" so taking that into account I understand that you have to wait longer. Personally, I would have chosen to take on a few fewer tables in case of a possible staff shortage. This restaurant is mainly about quick money and not for Greek hospitality. Shame.

We hadden om 18.30 gereserveerd voor 6 personen.We hebben zelf moeten aangeven bij het personeel dat we alvast wat wilden drinken,daarna de menukaart wilden zien en het bestellen gebeurde pas nadat wij erom vroegen.Het personeel kon duidelijk de drukte niet aan.Want toen we na ong.1,5 uur vroegen waar ons eten bleef kregen we te horen dat het nog 10 minuten ging duren.Er waren mensen die na ons kwamen die al bijna klaar waren.Daar bovenop kreeg er ook nog één van ons een ander gerecht omdat de gyros op was.En de rekening klopte ook niet want er stond een gerecht op van 57 euro dat wij niet gehad hadden.Al met al geen goede ervaring en was het voor mij de laatste keer dat ik hier gegeten heb.

Worst service ever. Tables were cleared ourselves, not once was anyone asked for anything to drink after clearing, no one was seen for dessert or anything like that.

It is the second time we go to this Greek restaurant, the first was perfect, but this second time the waitress did not take the order correctly (which we repeated more than twice) and later another waiter brought some dishes that were not and we told him very kindly that that was not what we had ordered and he started talking to us angrily and with bad treatment, blaming us saying that it was what we had ordered and that something we had ordered was not on the menu... he left angry and called the owner who came very respectfully and asked us what was missing, in fact they did have what we had originally ordered and that it was on the menu so in 5 minutes he brought us the food. :) We will repeat but I hope we don't get the same waiter.

Come here often. Service, atmosphere and certainly the food are always of excellent quality. It's so much that we always take some home. Price-quality very good.

Overall everything was good. Since I come from the catering industry myself, I am more critical of these reviews. Here I felt the salad wasn't seasoned enough and was a bit boring. The meat and tzatziki were really good. The service could have been a little more attentive. To be fair, I have to say that it was very well attended with a separate large group. This was my second time there and I left satisfied each time. I will definitely go there again if I feel like Greek 😀

Called a few times and didn't answer. But I drove there and when I was at the door they called back. Ordered for pick up. Up to two corrections had to be made before I could pay. In the end everything was completely given. Mussels were drowned in oil unfortunately. Rest was okay. It was quite full inside so I guess it was okay and we were a bit unlucky this time. Maybe better next time.
