Grieks Restaurant Thessaloniki in Wijk 00: Valkenburg

Very poor service and unfriendly staff. I ordered a portion of gyros and a portion of fries here. When paying, it turned out that a gyros platter had been charged, even though that was not what I had intended at all. This made a difference of no less than €12. After I had paid, I realized this and immediately walked back to bring it up politely. Instead of being handled normally and in a customer-friendly manner, I was immediately faced with a lot of hassle. The staff got quite angry and I was told that the fault lay with *me*. Misunderstandings regarding an order can happen. But how you treat a customer afterwards says a lot about a business, in my opinion. A simple explanation or solution could have handled this perfectly. Instead, I was treated in an incredibly unfriendly and unprofessional manner. Definitely not a second time for me.

This was truly very special!! Had a fantastic meal on the recommendation of acquaintances. We didn't want much, but we did want tasty food. Well, it was more than delicious! Especially the gyros.

Last week we spent our vacation in Valkenburg. It is a tradition for us to eat at this Greek restaurant. We had food delivered one day, which was fantastic again! And we went to eat in the restaurant with our children once. Not only is the food fantastic, which is truly prepared with love by the lovely mother of this family business, but the always cheerful and sweet Elsa also ensures that we keep coming back here every time. Had a delicious meal here today. Very friendly staff and the dishes were really flavorful. Because of the previous review, I specifically ordered the feta saganaki and it was delicious! The bifteki was also well-filled and the gyros well-seasoned. In short: highly recommended!

Good food and a wonderfully fun hostess / Shot of the house

We didnt like what we ate. I m even thinking if its greek. For me its not acceptable to have garlic mayonnaise next to calamari and also sardines. Feta Saganaki was just fried feta, crazy salty on not edible limit. I asked ouzo brands they have. Instead of giving a name, they just bring one shot ozuo, it was sooo sweet. I dont understand why they dont tell the brand. To be honest i m not sure if it was ouzo. The restaurant was clean and people was smiling while servicing.

We had a delicious meal and perfect service. One of the few places in Valkenburg where we felt welcome. Here you really feel like you're back in Greece. The hospitality—and I'm not saying the ouzo helped, but it certainly worked. Our hostess and host helped us wonderfully, and the mother in the kitchen earned her stripes again today. The prawns for the starter and the lamb chops are highly recommended. But the fried feta also deserves a mention. Note: We did go all-in before we were at Holland op de Berg

This restaurant is a hidden gem in my opinion. The staff is friendly and always happy to help! The food is authentic, well seasoned and cooked to perfection for the most part. The portion sizes are also generous compared to the pricing. When busy, though, the service does slow a little and food takes slightly longer but good things are usually worth waiting for! We have gone twice without reservation but it can become busy quickly, so best to reserve upfront.

Upon arrival, the table was dirty and sticky, but it was cleaned after the menu was handed to us. The man and woman kindly helped us choose our food. The starters arrived quite quickly. However, the puff pastry snack was dry, very oily, and had a musty smell. The other starter was tasty, but also far too greasy. We only ate what was still edible from the starters. We left the rest. This was only cleared away after we had waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for the main course. When it finally arrived, the fries were covered in oil stains and the main course was also very greasy.

The service deserves a zero. The same goes for the value for money. For almost €60, we got two dishes, and then a small bowl of fries arrived, which we were supposed to share. The gyros wasn't tasty. Very dry and thickly sliced. We waited 30 minutes to pay, then I asked again, and it finally arrived after another 15 minutes. The restaurant wasn't busy. On top of that, the waitress wasn't very friendly. I expect better from a good Greek restaurant. Never again.

We have always eaten very well; they are quite pricey, but because it is good, you accept that. We ate there today with our daughter and grandchildren. There are kids with us, so keep that in mind, but no, we had to ask twice if the food could finally come. It wasn't extremely busy, but we didn't see anyone come to clear the starters. My husband and I ordered a fish mix for the two of us for €36.50 and had high expectations. So disappointing: a breaded piece of cod, 2 large prawns, and a load of squid rings! Sorry, this really wasn't worth €36.50. A real shame. What a letdown for us. A very bad experience!

Even though I don’t live anywhere near the neighborhood, I keep coming back whenever I crave superb, authentic Greek food. The staff is lovely and welcoming, always ready to recommend dishes based on your preferences or create a shared dining experience for the whole table. Portions are generous, and the prices are fair. Why does it feel like home, you may ask? You can feel the Greek family vibes and the love of sharing great Greek food! To me, Thessaloniki feels like coming home. I don't live anywhere near there, but as soon as I'm in the mood for fantastic, authentic Greek food, I'm back here. The staff is warm, cheerful, and helpful. They recommend good dishes based on your preferences or put together a shared dining experience that suits you perfectly. The portions are generous and the prices are fair. This was a lush find! We decided to go into valkenburg by train after pinkpop festival for some food and found this place. It was still open late on a Monday night and they welcomed us with open arms 🩵 We had greek salad, meatballs and pan fried chicken with fresh bread and dip. We had beers and a shot of ozzo. Finished the meal with 12 star metaxa. The waiting staff couldn't do enough for us. We were looking to buy cigarettes and they even gave us some of their own! Sat outside and watched the world go by. Beautiful location and we will definitely return next year. Short walk from train station. Very reasonably priced considering we had 2 beers each and the metaxa! Food was lush and plenty of it! Highly recommend 👌🧡

What an experience, truly mouth-watering delicious food. Mama in the kitchen and you can taste that it was prepared with all the love. Stuffed vine leaves as a starter and my husband fried feta mmmm... for the main course moussaka and mixed grill. You rarely experience something like this anymore, highly recommended. We arrived in good company on one of the busiest nights of the year. Despite the gentle Greek chaos, the lovely lady in the dining room kept smiling and chatting with us, pouring Ouzo, and after our third bottle of rosé, our entire table was speaking fluent Greek! Worst experience ever in Valkenburg. A 45-minute wait for an incomplete and mediocre starter. I understand the rush, but you don't serve starters sparingly, or at least you make the customer wait. No compensation whatsoever. Outrageous.

First and last visit to this Greek restaurant in Valkenburg. Despite the predominantly positive reviews, our experience was very disappointing. We waited about 45 minutes for simple starters: tzatziki and grilled sardines. After that long wait, only the tzatziki arrived. The sardines were still missing. The tzatziki was very mediocre, lacking any particular flavor, comparable to a supermarket product. The accompanying bread consisted of four dry pieces of baguette, totally not what you expect in a Greek restaurant. Due to the excessive wait time, the incomplete order, and the disappointing quality, we left before the starter and went to eat somewhere else. The most regrettable thing is that we still had to pay €25 for clearly inadequate service. Delays can happen, and mistakes can too. But then a commercial gesture or at least an appropriate apology would have been the least they could do. As it stands, I do not recommend this establishment.

Our go-to Greek restaurant in Valkenburg for years. These lovely people welcome you every time. They make everything fresh, and you can DEFINITELY taste it. Highly recommended.

Very friendly and proud staff. The food was also tasty and well-portioned. Hygiene is also top-notch. Even the chef in the kitchen was wearing a hairnet. You don't see that anymore these days... A few minor points regarding feedback (personal opinion): - The interior didn't feel very atmospheric. Think chandeliers (white light) on the ceiling (Greece?) and a sort of installed suspended ceiling. I also missed some plants between the tables to dampen the sound a bit. - I know that chicken and pork need to be well-done, but this was just a little too overcooked. That was the only thing... Otherwise, highly recommended! Lovely and proud people who know their trade very well. Compliments!

Long wait, the food was cold and meager, the salad white cabbage with 2 olives and 2 peppers, not Greek at all, just everything salty and dry meat☹️certainly not worth repeating.

What a fantastic evening we had at Restaurant Thessaloniki in Valkenburg! The four of us went for dinner, and to be honest, we weren't sure what to choose from the extensive menu at first. Luckily, our daughter, Elza, was there, and in her own charming and enthusiastic way, she convinced us to follow her suggestions. And we're so glad we did! We started with a deliciously varied appetizer: perfectly seasoned scampi, crispy fried feta, flavorful Greek sausages, and delicious meatballs in tomato sauce. Every bite was carefully prepared and tasted authentic and pure. For our main course, Elza chose a mixed grill—and that was a hit as well. The four of us thoroughly enjoyed Argontulla's cooking! Everything was perfectly prepared, tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. What makes this restaurant extra special is the warm, family atmosphere. Mom, her husband, and the children: it's wonderful to see how everyone works together. You don't feel like a customer here, but truly a guest. The cozy atmosphere, genuine hospitality, and delicious food make this a place you'll want to return to. We give it a solid 10 out of 10 for atmosphere, conviviality, and quality. Such a great discovery when we only went for the Christmas market! The atmosphere in the restaurant was very nice, we felt like we are in Greece again! The service was so attentive and kind. Our waiter advised us some dishes that would fit out preferences and explained them very well, which we appreciated a lot. We waited quite a long time for the dishes to be served but all of them were worth the wait. They tasted so so good! And the portions were also sufficient.
