Atmospheric restaurant. Large with 2 floors, which meant they forgot about us. Had to ask someone ourselves to order drinks and food; they didn't come to clear the starters. Starters were okay. The tomato sauce was very watery with the eggplant, oily. Main courses: plenty of choice, but if you don't like lamb chops with the dishes, you're out of luck. You're not allowed to have something else in their place either. It is listed on the menu. Portions are large enough. Rice is tasty. Found the meat under-seasoned, especially the gyros. Salad was nothing special, and my dish came with bean salad. I didn't understand that at all... Staff: some friendly. And you had to pay at the exit. Very customer unfriendly. Make sure that person is enthusiastic and that you go home feeling satisfied.

We had lunch at this Greek restaurant and were very satisfied. The restaurant is nicely decorated and immediately creates a cozy atmosphere. The restrooms were also clean and well-maintained. We were served quickly and courteously, without any long wait. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Overall, a lovely place for a relaxed lunch. It was a super nice evening, from the beginning the waitress Mika welcomed us with 2 shots of Uzo, and then she recommended a very good starter with everything you need and the main course was fantastic!! I will definitely come back just for the beautiful vibe here and the absolutely impeccable food. In a word, perfect!

The best Greek restaurant in North Holland! We return repeatedly. The moment you step into the restaurant, it feels like you are in Greece itself. The friendliness and empathy of the staff are unprecedented; it is so pleasant to experience. Roy always serves us so well and ensures we have the best evening. But to be honest, all the staff are at their best to give you a wonderful evening. And we haven't even talked about the food yet. That is truly delicious; always fresh with wonderful, authentic flavors. Here too, you feel like you are dining in a top restaurant in Greece. The price-quality ratio is spot on. Enormous portions, which means we always take half home to enjoy again the next day. All in all, truly a restaurant you must visit at least once in your life for an unforgettable experience!

A very good Greek restaurant. There were two of us, and the hospitality was superb. We were greeted with an ouzo, and the food was amazing. I'm not usually a big fan of rice and always order fries on the side. But this time, almost all of them stayed on the plate because I've never eaten such delicious Greek rice. And the salad and everything else tasted great, plus the friendly service. I would definitely come back. Thanks for the lovely evening :-)

We ordered the Irodion platters for two people. The food was tasty, but two things stood out. 1. There is a lot of onion on everything. 2. The seasoning on all the meat (lamb chop and gyros, etc.) seemed the same? The texture was very good, though.

The food took a very long time to arrive; we waited for almost 2 hours. And when it finally came, it was bad, too. The souvlaki was tiny and bone dry, the moussaka was just a block of minced meat with a lot of salt. The tomato sauce tasted like ketchup. Most of the staff gave the impression they didn't want to be there. And at the end, we had to wait another 20 minutes for a few drinks... It just wasn't good.

Good food, friendly staff, but we were sitting outside and we were completely ignored by waiting staff multiple times, to the point we had to start waving to get someone to our table.

We have been coming here for years. And we have to drive a short distance to get here, but it is more than worth it. It is always delicious. No matter when you come. The staff is incredibly friendly and always ensures a super fun evening. The atmosphere is fantastic; you feel like you are back in Greece for a moment. The value for money is excellent. They also have a Pita Gyros restaurant further down the road for a quick bite. Also an incredibly nice spot. And very tasty.

I have been coming to this restaurant for almost 30 years. Every year, the food has been of very good quality. And to think that, considering it is two floors high and the food is prepared in a small kitchen. Compliments to all the chefs who have come and gone and who are still there. I hope to be able to enjoy it for many more years.

The food was delicious! It was my first time eating Greek food. I had a bit of everything. It was quite busy inside because there were other people sitting there who were very noisy, and almost the entire restaurant was bothered by it.

I went again last Sunday after my fantastic experience last week. Once again, I didn't make a reservation but was given a table, which was very nice. I did have to wait an hour for the food due to the large crowds; you would say the kitchen just can't quite handle it. The quality of the food is fine, and so are the prices.

The staff is very friendly and provides good service. The food is incredibly tasty and the portions are generous. The desserts are also highly recommended.

Ate at Irodion in Alkmaar. 5 min walk from P Karpeton. Very busy restaurant. Greek menu. Didn't reserve, but there was still a table available at 6:00 PM. Half an hour later, there was a line of people waiting at the bar. Full! As starters, we had fried mussels (Midia) and rolled vine leaves with rice and veal (Dolmadaria). Fairly, we shared; both were good, the mussels themselves were fine, but there could have been a bit more garlic sauce. The combination (Athens) platter was good. Too much! Gyros and the souvlaki were fine, a 9. The schnitzel skewer was just not quite cooked enough. A 6. All together an 8. For dessert, we chose coffee because we couldn't even fit in an ice cream. Right in the heart of Alkmaar city center, top location. Food of excellent quality, and areas for improvement can be found everywhere. Staff literally working their legs off, prompt service. Toilet: clean, a bit on the small side. Acoustics are a disaster. It is way too noisy in the place when it is full. And that is a shame. All in all 5 stars. I recommend this place.

I have been coming to this restaurant since 1999. I always order something different from the menu. It is the first time I am gaining experience on the first floor. Now I let myself be surprised several times. The staff decides what I will eat. Even now, there are no areas for improvement. I can only say... it is pure enjoyment.

We aren't from the neighborhood, but when we're in Alkmaar, we love grabbing a bite here. There is also an Irodion in Zaandam, where we live, but it was taken over years ago. Since then, it has never been like the one here in Alkmaar. The menu has barely changed in all those years (except for the prices 🫣), but you really do get a delicious Greek meal in return.

Delicious food but super busy, so it takes a while before you get your food and you really have to make an effort to hold a conversation at the table. The platters are very large, so definitely not recommended for small eaters.

We have eaten at Irodion several times, and no matter how busy it is, you always get good service (attention, a smile, a doggy bag if you ask for one), quick service, and delicious food. The meat, salads, and dessert are all delicious. Fried mussels with garlic sauce are our favorite. It is pleasantly busy there, but we don't find it bothersome. Great prices, and the portions are old-fashioned good. We have never had any problems ordering a starter or dessert for two, because you are simply full. Even if you only have 25 euros to spend, you can have a great meal there with a drink. Highly recommended!

I have been to Greek Restaurant Irodion several times and have always had a good experience, which makes this time particularly disappointing. The food was, as always, very good, flavorful, and exactly what you expect from a good Greek restaurant. Unfortunately, the service this time was really substandard. Our drinks were forgotten several times, meaning we ended up receiving only one drink throughout the entire evening. Additionally, we were served our food without cutlery, and despite having to ask for it four times, it took so long that our food was almost cold before we could start. We are absolutely not used to this from previous visits, so hopefully, this was a one-off situation. In any case, the quality of the food deserves much better service.

Every time I visit Alkmaar, I think about one thing - I'm finally going to eat deliciously!!!

A truly busy Greek restaurant with delicious food! We've been twice now, and everything we've ordered has been excellent, from the platters to the oven dishes (the stifado is highly recommended!). We'll definitely be back.

Good food. Sometimes servers are hard to find, resulting in long waits. However, most of them are very friendly. The atmosphere is busy and loud, which is either your preference or not.

Well, I've been coming here for 30 years. And always completely satisfied. Until today. It felt like a dumping ground and as if I was just a number. Menus were normally presented, but now they were just slammed on the table. Drinks were poured normally, but now they were just put down. You used to get a drink on the house now and then, despite it being a birthday, never anymore. When you go to the restroom, you have to be careful not to get knocked over by the staff. The prices have gone up again, which I understand, but then also make sure you provide good service. That you feel like a guest instead of a number.

Wonderfully cozy, good and friendly staff, and the food was so delicious. I especially enjoyed the dessert yesterday: ice cream with warm cherries and delicious whipped cream. It's definitely worth going back to enjoy Greek cuisine again.

Delicious food, and compliments on how consistent the service and dishes have been over the years. A downside is the restaurant's crowded atmosphere and acoustics. It's always packed, and the shrill shouting and chatter of other diners is somehow amplified by the space.

We ate here for the first time tonight, on the terrace. Friendly service, fast, delicious food. It felt like being in Greece for a moment. Everything was just perfect!

Delicious food, good service, wanted to have my dish adjusted and that was just possible, no questions asked, but okay sir, great, right?

We dined here last Saturday evening, which was possible without a reservation. The restaurant is very large, busy, and quite noisy, but the ambiance is inviting. We were served an ice-cold ouzo beforehand. The appetizer was served quickly, but the main course took a while. However, the flavors of the dishes are so incredibly good that the long wait is quickly forgotten. The portions are generous and have the flavors you expect from a Greek restaurant.

Everything is good here.... Great food.... Great atmosphere.... Great service.... Great prices..... We had a lovely evening there.... We'd be happy to come back....!!! Addendum March 2022: Unfortunately, you're no longer allowed in the restaurant with your dog.... It's a shame, but the restaurant is no longer relevant for us....!!! Addendum July 25..... Yesterday our dog was allowed in the restaurant. Whether this is generally the case again or was just an exception.... I have no idea.

Top evening with delicious Greek food.

And the Greek restaurant is not what it used to be. I ordered a starter - scampi from the oven in tomato sauce - consisting of tomato sauce and exactly three shrimps for the price of € 17.50 with extra bread. But I don't go to a restaurant to eat bread with tomato sauce!! Compared to other restaurants in the area, such as "De Waag" and "De Buuren" for the same price you get a decent portion of shrimps and various seafood.
