Happy Italy Rotterdam Zuid in IJsselmonde

Estuvimos en Rotterdam para un partido en De Kuip recientemente y paramos aquí de antemano para tomar cerveza y pizza. Muchos fans haciendo lo mismo. Estaba bien, pero en realidad nada especial. La pizza estaba bien, el ambiente era muy cadencioso. Los precios de la cerveza eran bastante buenos, pero una botella de agua costaba más que cualquiera de las cuatro cervezas que tuvimos. Sirvió a nuestras necesidades, pero desearía haber intentado en otro lugar. Más cerca de 2. 5 estrellas que 3, pero me redondeé.

Ten eerste werden wij ergens neergezet waar je uitkijkt op lege kratten, wc-rollen en meer opslagmateriaal. Er waren heel veel betere plekken naast ons, maar die bleven leef. Dit waren zogenaamd reserveringen werd er gezegd, maar ook wij hadden gereserveerd. Ook bij het speelgedeelte stond het vol met lege kratten van drank. En hier stonk het enorm naar urine. Na minimaal 20 minuten te hebben gezeten, werden we nog niet geholpen. Ook de tafels om ons heen niet. Dit aangegeven bij een vrouwelijke ober. Zij reageerde hier vervolgens niet op. Hierna toch maar weggegaan.

Omdat je pasta bestelt kan je tijden op je eten wachten. Alleen de pizza's kunnen blijkbaar snel. Wat een flut excuus om je klanten hiervoor te laten wachten. Daarnaast is een Nederlands woord hier niet te voeren net alleen maar Engels sprekende bediening.

Nice meal. Fast service. Both starter and main course and sweet pizza for our niece were delicious. And all that for a great price. 1 star less since 1 of the employees was just wearing sweatpants and a training vest. I think that's just too informal (even though I don't think everything has to be very formal).

Friendly employees and good food.

Fire alarms went off several times and the food was very bad. Pizza didn't really have much flavor

Excellent food for a great price.

Children's party - no cake with fireworks as indicated - no grab bag for the birthday boy or girl as indicated - balloons "my first birthday" as decoration. My daughter turned 6. Plain colored balloons would have been fine - limited choice of toppings for pizzas for a children's party - I have been waiting for a response on the above points for 3 days and have not received a response yet - the food was good. Fine for the children - the play area is not very large and quickly filled with children, which made it no longer fun to play. When it was quiet it was fine - many English speaking staff

Unfortunately we order here every week, things have gone wrong several times, but this can happen due to crowds, but that is why a lot went wrong and it was not busy. We could pick up our order at 7:45 PM. When we got there, we already received the warm pizzas, but according to the employee we had to wait another 5 minutes for the rest of the dishes including carpaccio (cold dishes), but these were not ready at 8:00 PM, said something about this, explained that the pizzas are now cold and this is not very tasty is, in which the answer is in poor English that I should just send an email, from regular customer to no longer ordering here 👍🏽 Only to find out at home that you were also given the wrong pasta... 10 minutes on the phone and no one answers!

Pizza was extremely dry, little taste, no staff and for what you have to pay and what you get is really ridiculous! Never this again

Service is fast, friendly staff. Pizza is just bland and bad, cheap ingredients. The owners steal server's tips, and everything's low quality and overpriced

Pizza terribile! Mai mangiato una pizza così disgustosa; oltretutto servita fredda; i camerieri erano impegnati nelle loro faccende mentre la pizza e’ rimasta sul tavolo del pizzaiolo per quasi dieci minuti. Ed è arrivata fredda e con il formaggio completamente solidificato. Da non consigliare per chi vuole mangiare una pizza. A meno che non vogliate buttar via i vostri soldi

Upon arrival there was chaos. Not an employee in sight while there were about 20 people waiting. After 30 minutes an employee came to indicate that it would take about 15 more minutes. Despite the empty tables and our reservation, we had to wait 45 minutes standing. Cold pizzas and unfriendly atmosphere. This really ruined our dinner outing. Highly recommended!

Pizza wasn't about anything. Dough looked like cardboard

Horrible staff, racist, run it like a Moroccan food kitchen. If you want fast service and are Moroccan / whatever go to this restaraunt and they will put you in front of everyone else and serve you instantly. Ordered one apetizzer and one pizza. Waiting more than an hour. Rude staff. Look like there coming to work off the street. Do not recommend.

The foods was good and super fast. It's the 1st time for me that the foods were ready before the drinks served. The portions are quite big.

Food was tasty, ready quickly and a good portion. The service was... friendly and smooth. The table we were assigned was not clean and the menus were also covered in grease and crumbs. We ordered the Al Salmone, Tonno and Al Verdure. We all enjoyed our dish.

I don't know if everything is halal?

Price-quality ratio is unfortunately completely lost as far as we are concerned... Where I wrote in my review 7 years ago: “Tasty food, large quantities and for a very reasonable price. Not haute cuisine but just good.” It was now (2024) a big disappointment. The spaghetti was way too salty, the crusts of the pizzas too big, too hearty and too dark. The drinks were lukewarm and the ice cream and whipped cream of our sundae had already melted when served. Customers no longer have to wait in lines to get in as they did years ago. The saving grace was our young waiter from Italy who served with great pleasure and enthusiasm. Grazie per questo!

Drinks took so long and staff does not speak Dutch. If you can't speak English, you're out of luck.

If you sit on the wrong side of the restaurant, you can easily wait 30 minutes plus for a waiter to pass by.

For Happy Italy, the food is what it is, simple pasta, fine. We asked for a little more bread before we got our pasta. Eventually we finished our pasta, tried to ask for bread in between, but were ignored by several employees. Nodding that they are coming, but not coming and doing something else. At the end we had had enough and asked for our bill, we also asked again where our bread had gone, the employee said that it was an error in the system and that it was not on the bill. Was there then a loaf of bread worth 0.00 euros on the receipt???? So the bread was in the order, for 0.00 euros and we didn't get anything. At the same time, poor service, there were enough employees. At first it was busy and we were helped quickly, then it became quiet and we were ignored?!?! :(((

Delicious food and a nice play area for the kids. However, it was very busy and noisy despite the fact that there were few children. The restaurant is large and nicely decorated, but the tables lack atmosphere.

First our pastas came wrong, We asked for extra cheese pasta without parsley on it and it came wrong. then they say we are going to make new ones, and we literally got pasta soup. Never again Happy Italy!

Moderate. Bruschetta's were cold and soggy with moisture. Pasta wasn't bad, but not really recommended

The pizzas were cold with a soft base. The delivery man had a mess in his bag. All the pasta containers he had with him were all over the bag and the pizzas were covered in pasta sauce. The pasta and napkins he used to clean the pizza box and bag he then left it in our garden. This is really crappy service from the delivery person.

This evening (Saturday, September 14) I had dinner here with my girlfriend. The service was crappy, the waitress didn't come to us, only because we asked at some point. We were not allowed to take another empty, unreserved table for 2, because it was 'not clean', removing the empty plates was apparently too much effort. Furthermore, my pasta was quite tasteless and there was hardly any chicken or fungi in it, even though that was the name of the dish. After this horrible experience I obviously didn't want to tip. When I looked back at my account later, a higher amount had simply been debited than the amount on the receipt! This is a horrible place, absolutely not recommended. Luc.

The food is delicious and arrived super fast! But no one came by to record a second drink.

The company clothing left a lot to be desired, doorman with jacket on serving tar with a hole for a large hole in it and you might even be able to cook soup with it Furthermore, the lady was very friendly and served us well

Customer service could be better....Pasta is average.

Had to wait a long time for a simple order. Formula for online ordering in combination with current restaurant guests is not going well. It wasn't busy, so I complained to the waiter after 45 minutes. The food itself was good, but unfortunately the quality has lost in recent years.

Wanted to grab a quick bite to eat and then go to the movies. Plenty of time, you think. It was a bit busy, we were a little later and had indicated that we wanted the combination deal. Drinks delivered quickly, order taken quickly and pizza delivered quite quickly. All good. Management did their best. We thought we would still have time for desert (ice cream and apple pie pizza). Consult with management and should be possible. Too bad it didn't work out, but sorry about the service. Received the apple pizza pie in a box, yes. I have to say that this one is particularly large and almost a complete meal... ;). On the way to the cinema, have a quick bite to eat and then hear that the box is not allowed into the cinema (a real shame) Whose fault was it that it just didn't work out? No idea, everyone did their best. Next time leave home a little earlier, order on time and encourage the kitchen well. So it's no one's fault in this case. In terms of atmosphere it is quite manageable. Not disturbingly noisy in any case. It's always busy. Parking in front of the door is paid. Combideal is a golden deal: pizza and film for a nice price.

I don't know if it was the day or what but one of the worst food I have eaten in Rotterdam, the pasta carbona is anything but carbonara, I don't recommend. At least the treatment and service was good and fast.

Food good but they cheat on drinks I got 2 times a 0.25 beer and paid for two 0.5 I feel cheated but unfortunately I only realized in the car this is terribly wrong !!! Please be careful with your bills .

Upon arrival, there were a few things still on the table from the previous visitor. The table was cleared later but not wiped with a cloth, the table was really dirty. Asked if someone could take down the table, someone was coming but no one saw them. Then we had to wait 1 hour for our food. Guests who came in later had their food quite quickly while we were still waiting. To pay, we walked to someone at the counter because no one came to us.

A good place for a long conversation. Make sure you reserve in advance because even though you see an empty block, walk-ins will be turned away. Fortunately, I had made a reservation so I was able to sit down. You don't need to scan QR because it doesn't work, so you have to wait for an old-fashioned waitress for a sweet waitress. This didn't come so we had to go find someone ourselves after 15 minutes. We thought we would be smart to order food and drinks right away, but we had not received a menu card. After dinner we wanted to order a dessert and you guessed it. It took forever. After deciding to pay, we were sent back to our table because that was where we would be allowed to pay. Then after 10 minutes the nutella pizza suddenly appears. We just packed them up and took them with us. 75 euros but I did not get a good experience from it. Several people around us complained about the lack of service and staff. This is not due to the staff walking around, but to Happy Italy's policy. It does not invite you to come back.

Too bad you can't give less than 1 star, what a terrible tent. We had to wait half an hour until someone finally showed up who we could order from. After almost an hour the food finally arrived. Everything was lukewarm and not fresh at all. Three quarters of the pasta was sauce which made me very nauseous. We had taken the social deal action with ice cream. After dinner we had to wait 45 minutes for our scoop of ice cream. Each time we called an employee and he would pass it on to someone else. They were all just chatting with each other behind the bar. Extremely bad service. And to top it off, we all had diarrhea and stomach cramps all night. NEVER GO HERE AGAIN, A WASTE OF YOUR MONEY.

Food tasted good. Service was a mockery, received the wrong pizza twice despite pointing it out on the menu. Slow and everything took a long time. When taking orders you had to do your best to get attention because otherwise no one would come to your table. Getting drinks on the table took just fifteen minutes, while a total of 6 tables were occupied. Had dessert taken off the receipt after waiting 30 minutes. (A children's ice cream) Even though the food itself (provided the right food was served) was good, we will never come here again.

Ik ben een jaar niet geweest. Bediening is hard achteruit gegaan. De medewerkers spreken je aan alsof je een mattie bent. Jammer.

It's not worth the money. Too bad they have deteriorated so much.

Have eaten at this Happy Italy more often. We were always hopeful that we would have a spot, because you could never make a reservation and then you had to stand in line. When I get there today... we are immediately turned away because we didn't have a reservation. The restaurant was still at least half empty, because we got there early. Quite unfriendly to send people away like that.

Nice meal. Tables were in bad condition and looked dirty too. I also thought the staff were nice. I think furniture should be replaced.

We actually eat here with acquaintances, family and friends during the holidays and birthdays, and we have never regretted it.

Fast service, food good and hot.

The food was excellent, the service really did their best. But I think our leftovers sat on the pizza plates for over an hour. By then it was half past nine and we decided to say something ourselves because we also wanted to order coffee/tea/dessert. We were suddenly told they were closed...excuse me? No one had come to see us and no one had even said last round. Abrupt end to our pleasant evening.

The fast service and cheap prices for which this chain has become known are no longer applicable. Staff could look straight at you and walk right past you.

We did not have a pleasant meal at all, the staff was very rude. When we came in. We were directed to a table and after 20 minutes someone came to the table to take drinks. We only had a main course and left. We didn't feel welcome at all.

Large eatery in an attractive building where you have to wait quite a long time before your order is served. But we had plenty of time so I didn't think that was an issue. Now I don't go to eateries that often, but I find it surprising that upon entering I am immediately addressed in English (many Spanish expats/students) and that most of the staff around there do not speak a word of Dutch. My 12-year-old daughter received suggestions from the waiter (a friendly guy by the way) which I then had to translate for her. Maybe it's just me, but I find it bizarre. Don't believe at all that there are no Dutch staff available. Must have something to do with employment conditions. But all in all, the food was good and that's what we came for.

Come here regularly and almost always have a good experience. Location is very nice and cozy. The service is just not always fast. I often don't mind having to wait a while, because that happens regularly. Furthermore, nice restaurant!

You really should be ashamed of yourselves! I order a pasta pollo pesto. This includes pine nuts and basil. Nothing can be found and I pay 15 euros for that??? Staff should also be better trained. I have already had two collisions where, in retrospect, I was right and I did receive an apology. (I was not allowed to take an order with my gift card and at 9 p.m. I was no longer allowed to order food even though I had been waiting longer). I won't come here anymore!

Far too few staff, we had made a reservation and when we got there we were told it would take 2 hours for the food to arrive.

We arrived and more than half the tables were empty. Waited for a long time and eventually asked an employee if there was room for 2 people. This person went to check that and would get back to us. After waiting for several minutes, this person was approached again. He pretended not to know us and said he had not promised us anything. According to him, there was no room anyway. Very weird. Then an English-speaking employee came and told us to leave because they could not use any extra guests. Didn't eat anything and had a bad experience. No problem if there is no room, but at least know how to present it in a normal way.

Nice and convenient, close to the cinema. Generous portions

The worst pizza ever. We used to come here before Covid period and were very satisfied with price/quality but after the prices went to the heaven and quality dropped we switched to another pizzerias. However, today we were at the cinema and afterwards wanted to give to Happy Italy a one more chance. We ordered 2 pizzas and they were such a disappointment. Basically they were burnt, very thin and dry - extremely untasty. And so dry that I had pain in my throat and my kids couldn't eat it. Not worth that money as one pizza was almost 10euros. Terrible how long you have to wait even though you have reserved for 3 people, had abnormally bad treatment and the service was so horrible, I don't recommend it to anyone, the only one who helped us was the guy in his red shirt who still did his best and another plus the pizzas were tasty, but we waited more than an hour for our pizzas that only came after 1 hour and 20 minutes, when you want to speak to an employee about this they walk away and act as if they don't notice anything , people who work here don't know how to control a restaurant, because making your customers wait so long is horrible. The only person who helped us a bit was the guy who had table 305 (our table) under his service, and he also wants to give his credits in this way, but the rest were and looked worthless.

The food is delicious, but only if you have patience. It takes ages until we receive our food.

Let's start with something positive. They did neatly take 5 euros from our account. That being said, a lot went wrong with us. first my sisters got the wrong drink. Then my mother's sandwich was missing cheese. we had dessert and then things really went wrong. my sister got the wrong dessert. Apparently they had two desserts that looked alike, so as a waitress I would ask carefully which one someone wanted. My other sister ordered the happy apple pie pizza for dessert. this was just a whole pizza for dessert, way too much for a dessert. but that wasn't the worst part. it is really tasteless and just plain greasy. it just tasted like dough. the apples were simply thrown in. not tasty mixed with sugar and cinnamon. then add some cinnamon. And another ingredient was missing, the cookie crumb. It was so disgusting that my sister said she felt sick after eating two pieces.

Tasty!, but slow service compared to Kerkrade. Toilets not clean; no soap and no wipes etc. We had no Dutch speaking service. And if you don't speak English, it becomes difficult. Fortunately we 'know' how to speak English 😉 Hygiene really needs to be improved!

Happy Italy head of south concerns this review. Reserved via social deal. Most expensive option, so choose from the entire menu. Upon arrival, I registered with my name and then ordered our 3 pizzas. When we had ordered our desert, the lady who had received us and taken us to our table came to us in a very unfriendly and accused tone, stating that we should have indicated upon arrival that we had agreed via a social deal. Now we just ordered the non-standard pizzas. To which I said that we had paid for the most expensive option. At first, the lady always wanted to interrupt me. But when it turned out that I said that this is clearly visible when booking, she says that they cannot see that. And that I have to mention this from now on. When I indicated that I found it very unpleasant how she approached us, she only apologized. I think this is a very bad experience and will certainly not recommend this establishment

We had made a reservation for 6 people for tonight at 6.45 pm, it was busy because of the orange team who were playing a practice match wherever we went, it took a long time before we could order drinks and food, we only got our drinks half an hour later, but after 1 hour we had I haven't eaten yet. They came after I had asked twice where the food was, with 3 pizzas, the rest would come shortly, but after 1.5 hours the other 3 still had no food. I asked 4 more times if our food was still there, the place became emptier and the customers those who came after us had already received their food, we had to leave because we had to go to the Orange match, so 3 people could have eaten and 3 people were not unacceptable. When we spoke to the manager about this, we did not have to eat the pizzas we had. only pay the drinks but no excuse and no explanation as to why we didn't get our food. I won't go there again, I understand that it is busy, but they have to be prepared for that because they have been there for a long time and they know that it will be very busy with such events. For me, 1 star is still too much in terms of service, the 3 people who did have their pizza liked the pizza.

Thursday June 6 with a group to the Dutch national team, we made a reservation at 6:45 PM and our order was taken at 6:50 PM. We were advised not to do pasta, it takes 40 minutes and the pizza takes 20 minutes. Ok fine, let's have pizza. It was busy because the Dutch national team was playing, so we understand if it took a little longer. One group after another got its food, also groups that came after us and had more people, 7:45 PM after asking a few times we finally got half of our order. The rest was still to come, they said. 8:15 PM we got up and complained to the manager, no explanation why or how, but ok, you only pay for drinks, ok? Would you like to have a nice meal together before a competition? Not there....2 stars because the pizzas we got were tasty.

Apparently happy Italy needs a “security guard”, but this guy thinks he is a security guard for the national bank or something. Really poor customer friendliness and guest service. Waitress was then better. But check yourself chappie.

Best pizza with strawberries ever!

We arrived at 8pm without a reservation. More than half of the tables empty but still refused because "otherwise we will be overworked ourselves". Sorry, but we have never felt treated so poorly. Don't go here!

You wait at least 1 hour before eating. They can't handle the crowds. Everyone waited a long time for the food.

We ate here for the first time yesterday with great anticipation. Everything was ok...except the main course. Had no taste. The pasta carbonara and pasta fungji were both tasteless. Really a shame.

Good for a quick bite, seems to lack some atmosphere, possibly due to the size of the place and the quiet time of visit. Staff seems to be able to interact better with each other, reception was a bit strange.

Food was fine, and the service was a bit slower than usual. The playground for the kids was great. The only concern i had was that the bigger kids used the curtains as swings. Therefore, I was afraid my kid would get hit by passing behind them.

Last minute we decided to go with friends who had a reservation for 3 through a social deal. Upon arrival I was asked if I could join their table, this was no problem. Food and drinks were served quickly and tasted great. The desserts took longer to arrive, but the restaurant had already become quite busy. Service was top notch, but none of the staff spoke Dutch, but this was not a problem for us. All in all a great place to have something to eat.

Upon entering we were warned that we would have to wait 1 to 1.5 hours for the food. Even after ordering, someone warned us that it would take at least 1 hour due to the crowds. We finally had our food on the table in 50 minutes and it was delicious.

When you come in (with reservations), the staff tells you that you have to wait 1h-1h30m for your food. Just went to another tent.

Heb voor 2 personen via sociale deal betaald voor een pizza/ pasta inclusief 2 bollen ijs. Vervolgens vraag ik na het diner(die trouwens ook heel laat kwam) naar het ijs, zegt een werknemer dat de vriezer kapot is en het dus niet mogelijk is. Er werd geen alternatief aangeboden en toen ik er zelf naar vroeg werd er ook geen gehoor aangegeven. Heb uiteindelijk meer betaald voor een ‘zogenaamde deal’ dan wat ik daadwerkelijk heb gekregen!!

We were here early on a (holiday) Friday around 4 p.m. So there was plenty of room, that was no problem! However, they were understaffed, because there was little service. At first it went quickly, the food was quickly consumed and served even faster. Drinks were also taken quickly but only served after we asked for them when we already got our food. After half an hour I tried three times to call a lady to order another drink, but eventually gave up and asked for the bill when she finally had time, because we were now done. We don't even blame her for this, she was exhausted, too few staff, it seemed. The other clerk didn't speak a word of Dutch; is also not pleasant. Food we had was tasty; yes with a but. Pizza was fine for our 3 year old son, we both had pasta. At first it was a bit tasteless, but with the addition of salt, pepper and red pepper olive oil that was on the table, it was tasty. We were an hour away from our house, when we got home 2 of the 3 people had intestinal problems, which required running to the toilet, so something from the restaurant didn't sit right there, unfortunately. Compliments for the carpaccio, the ratio of lettuce to meat was meh (very much lettuce, very little meat) the quality of the meat was fantastic Few parking spaces available & only paid parking. Large portion for children's pizza. All in all that's why 3 stars.. Great for a quick snack at an early time if you're not too thirsty, just one round of drinks and a toilet nearby 😉

I had a very saddening experience.. Ordered a Chicken Doner Pizza. The meat did not look or taste like Doner whatsoever. It was also undercooked and tasted like plastic. The service lady did not bother to set me at rest by finding a resolution. Instead, she was rude and was going in to the DEFENSE mode. That is not how I would like to be treated as a valuable customer and you should not be either. So do not visit this place!

Disappointing the one near Blaak is much better

The food was very average, but the waiter Zakaria was very nice.

Not sure of the new menu... I liked the stuff the served before, which you can not order anymore... Bring back items from the old menu please!!!!
