Unfortunately, we have the same problem every time we come here: the service is incredibly slow. The waiters are often uninvolved and the tables are not properly looked after. After placing our order, we often have to wait a very long time and sometimes even have to speak to a member of staff again. Although the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant are generally good, having to wait so long and the unattentive service have a major impact on our experience. I hope something is done about this, because it is truly disappointing to experience the same problem over and over again.

The service and the food were absolutely top-notch!

The food was, as always, very good, and we have no complaints about that. Unfortunately, the service really falls short for us. It was quite busy, and there were only 2 or 3 waitresses walking around, which meant we had to wait a very long time. When our food finally arrived, we weren't asked if we wanted anything to drink, and the waitstaff basically walked away immediately. We then had to wait about 20 minutes before we could approach someone to order something else. For dessert, we eventually walked over to someone ourselves. We also waited a very long time for the ice cream, so I eventually went to ask myself if it was coming, because otherwise we would have left without dessert due to an appointment. It's a shame, because the food is really good. I think there is a particular need for proper supervision/a manager who ensures that the waitstaff look around better while walking around and actively spot when guests need something. With a bit more attention to service, this restaurant could really be a lot better.

It's a wonderful place, we often come here with my friends, and it's so much fun for the kids. It's a place where we can have fun, relax, and eat very comfortably with the children ♥️

We just sat waiting 20 minutes for them to come and take our drinks, and on top of that, they didn't give us a menu. Eventually, we ordered, but had to wait another 20 minutes for our starter, which was a small bread roll with spreads. And after that, we had to wait a very long time for the hot food. In the end, we did get a free drink as compensation, but oh well.

We had a delicious meal. It was nice that we could take the uneaten pasta and pizza home. Next time, please have a short break between the starter and the main course. This time, we had to sacrifice our starter because the hot main course was already being placed on the table.

We had a great meal at Happy Italy. They were understaffed, but they remained extremely polite and professional. It was quite busy, though, and there were many young children. It wasn't too disruptive and was sometimes even entertaining.

Like a greasy spoon. I had asked for a sensory-friendly spot. We were seated in the middle of the place, with a lot of noise and a nasty, bright light shining in my face. Not exactly sensory-friendly. The pizza was delicious.

Normally always fine, but this time not very positive. There was a nasty toilet smell in the place. The pizzas arrived just 5 minutes after ordering. The coffee machine was broken, half of the desserts were unavailable, and the bill was incorrect. The kids enjoyed themselves, that's the most important thing.

The food was tasty, but we had to keep asking where the drinks were even though we had already ordered. And you could smell the toilet; it was really filthy. We tried it again, but actually regretted it. I don't think we'll go again. It's a shame for our kids because playing is always fun, but the play area wasn't really clean either. So, it's a pity, but we won't be going again.

Homemade bubble tea and lemonade are tasty. Not as watery as at other locations. Pizza, pasta, and cheesecake dessert are delicious and the portions are generous. Staff are friendly and there is a nice playground for children. This location is highly recommended!

(Un)happy Italy. Mamma Mia, Guys! It was just an ordinary Monday’s evening. We have ordered bruschetta, Margherita and ice creams. Easy way: starter, pizza and dessert. But not for that wonderful crew. 17.50 we are in. 18.20 we are getting pizza. 18.30 we are getting starter xD 18.50 I have asked for the check. Ice creams never came. We won’t come there either :) The only positive was the waiter's attitude. He was alone, and it seemed he needed help, but he was still very nice and polite.

I waited well over an hour for the food. I asked several times how much longer it would take, and each time I was told 10 minutes or that they were working on it. Then I looked to the left to see that the people who arrived later than us had received their food earlier. I understand that it can be busy, but this is ridiculous service. As if they had to clear the busy side first and then the other side.

Waited an hour to eat and still haven't eaten anything

Unfortunately, a bad experience. Upon arrival, we were shown to our table and seated under a mega-loud air conditioner. It wasn't very busy yet. However, it was noticeable that many people arriving after us were already eating before our food arrived. Eventually, I had to ask where it was, but then it did arrive quickly. After dinner, we waited almost an hour for the table to be cleared and for the remaining pizza for the children to be packed away, as they couldn't finish it all. All the tables around us had pizza boxes on their tables and were eating dessert or drinking coffee. During that entire time, no one came to take our dessert order. After waiting for almost an hour, I walked to the bar and said I wanted to pay. I also immediately indicated what I thought of the service. The staff's response was that it was ‘busier than expected, with few staff’. I can understand that to a certain extent, but when I asked why everyone around us was being cleared and we weren't, there was no answer. I also noticed that while I was waiting, the staff weren't busy the whole time but regularly stood still. Eventually, we paid and left to get ice cream somewhere else with the children, who were also sad by then that we weren't being served any further. We had bought vouchers for a two-course menu via Kruidvat. Unfortunately, this ended up being just a pizza. I got the impression that, because I came with those vouchers, we were ‘less important’ than the people who paid the regular bill, even though there was a surcharge on certain items you can order and you naturally pay for your drinks as well. I don't understand why a restaurant would participate in such a promotion if it can't treat people with vouchers properly. If we had been served properly, just like the people around us, I would definitely have gone back. But we sat here for 2.5 hours just to eat a pizza. They won't be seeing me there again.

Very poor service, too little staff

A truly huge disappointment. The food was simply inedible. There was absolutely no taste, and it seemed as though it had been prepared without any care at all. For these prices, you really expect much better. The service was perhaps even worse. While we were still in the middle of our main course, the waitress came to our table to tell us that they were about to close. That felt incredibly unwelcoming and as if we were being told to leave as quickly as possible. Then we were told that they were doing "one last round" of orders, even though we hadn't even finished our food yet. You don't feel welcome at all in that situation. A night out is supposed to be fun and relaxed, but here it turned into an unpleasant experience. Bad food, bad service, and absolutely no hospitality. This is definitely the last time we will come here. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Waiting forty-five minutes for an ice cream...

The restaurant had just opened when we arrived for lunch. The staff was friendly, proactive, and helpful when we asked them for something. There is a separate play area for children, separate from the restaurant section. They can have a great time on the two different floors climbing, scrambling, sliding, or playing in the ball pit. The restrooms in the restaurant were easily accessible and neatly cleaned. The pizzas and pastas we ordered were served quickly after ordering and all arrived at the same time. The most important thing, of course, is the quality of the food. That was actually better than expected. The pastas were good in terms of taste and quantity, and they certainly didn't skimp on the toppings on the pizzas, making them highly recommended. In short, a more than successful lunch visit, and I can definitely recommend going there. It is certainly a good option if you have young children with you. In any case, they will see us back again for a repeat visit.

We have enjoyed visiting Happy Italy in Spijkenisse for quite some time. We would love to make this restaurant our regular haunt, especially because our children have a great time in the beautiful playground while we can eat in peace. Unfortunately, lately we have noticed a clear decline in both the quality of the food and the service. For instance, we noticed that the wine glasses are now the same as the prosecco glasses. For wine, you expect a different type of glass that better suits the experience. Additionally, the pizza was really different this time compared to before. There was clearly less topping, the dough was thicker, and the taste was no longer what we were used to. Fortunately, the pasta was still the same, but the pizza is the main reason for us to come here, especially with our children. Every time we hope that it will be better next time, but unfortunately, we go home disappointed time and again. We find that very unfortunate, because we would really love to continue visiting this restaurant as our regular family restaurant. The service has also changed. The staff is less friendly than before. Orders are taken without a smile, and no one asks if everything was to our liking. These are small things, but they make a big difference to the overall experience. We almost always leave a tip of more than 5%, sometimes even 10%, even though we see that many other guests leave nothing. Yet, that seems to make no difference to the hospitality you experience. We sincerely hope that more attention will be paid to the quality of the food, the service, and the ambiance of this establishment again. Happy Italy has everything it takes to be a great place for families, and therefore we hope that this feedback is seen as a sincere wish to restore the restaurant to its former level.

Too little staff, and those who were there lacked sufficient experience. The pizzas and pasta tasted great, truly top-notch! Service was okay in itself when they finally had "time." Unfortunately, ordering drinks for the second time was a nightmare (45 minutes!), and keeping an eye on whether customers wanted to order was a serious problem. Walking over to the staff yourself and asking them to order 2 to 3 times is a no-go. Clearing tables takes an incredibly long time; there was a huge mess on many tables (some customers with children are unfortunately shameless, and a lot of food was on the floor), and with so little staff, it was impossible to keep up. Come on Happy Italy, be more frugal and better to your staff. The play area is super fun. Unfortunately, the toilet is already so filthy and smeared with feces at 6:30 PM.

Unfortunately, I think it was too busy to serve just one person. We wanted to have a drink first, but were immediately pushed to the table. When we wanted another drink during the meal, there was no response; she was really too busy. When ordering dessert, we asked for coffee to be brought at the same time as the cheesecake, but then we were told that was a different station🤷🏼‍♀️ the cheesecake was already finished, so I asked someone who was clearing the table where the coffee was. Sorry, we were with 8 people and were actually disappointed; we didn't have a pleasant experience, what a shame. We had Kruidvat vouchers. It was very noisy.

It has been better; the playground was dirty and dusty. The food is served quickly and there is nothing else to complain about. We booked via Social Deal, and normally there is a much wider selection of ice cream flavors, and for a small extra amount, we can get a kids' ice cream instead of the cup with two scoops. This time, that was only possible if we paid the full price for a kids' ice cream, which is a bit of a shame.

Good food for a quick pizza, only the service ... takes a long time .... they could sell drinks when they come by or pay close attention to their customers but, only 2 drinks in 2 and a half hours, lost revenue, and you can hardly get any interaction yourself, because they look around you, or are standing drinking or on their phones at the counter, or secretly making calls in the hallway as you walk past towards the ball pit, Lola from team Happy commented below, hasn't improved in 3 years !!

Back to Happy Italy in Spijkenisse again. Cozy place, friendly staff, tasty food, delicious ice cream, delicious tea. I will definitely be back here. The weekend lunch is delicious too.

We had one pasta carbonara that wasn't good. My daughter is a chef herself and pointed out that the pasta smelled and tasted stale. So either the container it was in wasn't properly clean or the cheese's best-before date was incorrect, but we received a very stupid answer that they couldn't do anything about it. That they restock every two days. Restock, but is that restocking fresh? Terrible service, not even an offer of a baguette or anything else. Or compensation in the form of a free drink. Absolutely nothing. We also had to wait a very long time for dessert. In short, a disappointment; this is not what we are used to from Happy Italy!!!

We went here using Kruidvat vouchers, so we could get a two-course menu for 10 euros p.p., with occasional small extra charges. We were given a table that was still filthy and smelled like poop/vomit. This was resolved nicely after we asked for another table that was cleaner and smelled less. You have to wait quite a long time here before you can place an order (you have to ask for it), although the food did arrive quickly (main course). After that, the drinks and the food ran out, but no one came to ask if we wanted another drink or if we wanted to order dessert; we asked again. Desserts also took a very long time to arrive. If you want to go to the toilet, you have to walk towards the ball pit and be careful not to trip over the balls. Then, when you walk back to your table, children first kick balls against your leg—which the restaurant can't do anything about—but the adults are nowhere to be seen. So, for me, this was a one-time thing and never again. We were a group of 8; at the beginning (5 o'clock) we could still hear each other, but around 7 o'clock this became increasingly difficult. Opinions were divided on how the food was, although the majority (of our group) found it tasty.

Top service and super friendly staff!!!

UPDATE (June 2026): Unfortunately, I have to revise my earlier positive review. The food is still good, but understaffing seems to have become a structural problem. During several recent visits, we had to wait a very long time for service each time. The staff works hard, visibly does their best, and remains friendly, but there are simply too few employees present. During our last visit, we ordered 4 scoops of ice cream for 2 people as a dessert to finish, but received 3. Normally, we would have mentioned this, but due to the already long wait times, we let it go. For us, this was unfortunately the last straw. The quality of the food is fine, but the service experience has been disappointing so often by now that this was the last time we visited this branch. First time dining there, reserved for 7 PM and waited fifteen minutes for a table to become available. Subsequently, as a family, we didn't receive our food until 8:40 PM. So, we had to wait almost 1.5 hours for our food from the moment we sat down at a table. Unfortunately, my pizza was also barely warm when I received it, though the pastas were warm. The food tasted good otherwise, except for the pizza, because it was unfortunately lukewarm and had even cooled down completely while I was eating. Waiting 1.5 hours for your food is truly abnormal; I have honestly never experienced anything like this in my life. Very disappointing experience! Update: The complaint has been taken seriously and I have received compensation. Instead of 2 stars, now 3 stars. If the next experience is good, another update will follow.

Tasty food, but my order was incomplete. You pay for a bowl of cheese and then it isn't included..

Waiter were not understanding the orders. I asked kindly that if i can have my drink with the pizza in same time. I ate half of my pizza and i received my drinks. The woman in the bar said when i repaet to have drinks she replied as she is working on it but it was after she received order 30 min later. You must keep your inventory in any scenerio + max 20 people as guests.

I dined here on Friday; the welcome was pleasant! The manager served me, super friendly and always smiling 😁. The food was on the table quickly, even though I dined outside of peak hours; the pasta was tasty 👌🏻. Overall, everything was certainly to my liking!

We were only asked once if we wanted a drink, they didn't ask how the food tasted or if everything was to our liking, and we waited fifteen minutes before we could finally pay. We walked away to smoke and that's when they start following you.

We ate here today. The food was, as always, very tasty. The service was generally good, although empty bottles could have been cleared from the table a bit more often. We had called and made a reservation specifically in advance, requesting to sit on the sofa with four people. However, upon arrival, we were seated at a different table. When I pointed this out politely, we were told that it was fine and we were allowed to take a seat on the sofa after all. After some time, however, we were asked by a staff member (I believe someone in a supervisory role) not to stay seated there, because they wanted to keep the tables free for a group of five or six people. That was unfortunate, of course, but we were moved again. What made it even more annoying is that during the hour to 45 minutes we were there, the tables remained largely empty. In the end, there was only one group of five people, and just before we left, only a small group of three. That is very disappointing. If you call in advance as a customer, state a clear preference, and arrive on time on a quiet day, you expect that to be taken into account. I had hoped that someone would come over to us later to say that we could sit on the couch after all, but unfortunately, that did not happen. This situation pretty much ruined the atmosphere for us. We no longer felt like staying any longer or having dessert. It was a major disappointment for us. Even at the end, no form of apology was offered, such as by offering something small for the children.

The pizzas and pastas were delicious and fresh, love it, ordered several on purpose. This is really fun to do as a family. If the children finish early, they can play and enjoy the afterglow. And the same goes for parents; you can eat in peace for a change, without feeling like you're sick of food due to stress. Purely because the children enjoy themselves there too. Had a quiet meal for the first time, what a luxury😄 definitely recommended, and something to keep here. The staff is also friendly and helpful. It is wheelchair-friendly in terms of access, and the toilets are clean, very nice. Compliments to the chef and the staff.

Normally we come to Happy Italy especially for the pasta carbonara. After waiting an hour we finally got our pasta. This tasted very burnt and very different from normal. Not tasty unfortunately. During our hour of waiting, we sat with an empty glass of drinks, unfortunately no one came to ask us if we wanted anything else to drink and we did not get the attention of our waitress. We also didn't see her for an hour, so we couldn't speak to her/ask for a drink. A bad experience at this restaurant. I personally wouldn't pay for this.

We had a nice evening, beautiful ambiance and good service! I spent a long time thinking about this review, especially because I found the staff so incredibly attentive. Sometimes we did have to wait a bit long. I figured out why the food (pasta) didn't taste very good. We have been to Happy Italy several times and we had the same experience with the pasta dishes every time. We added salt and pepper, but it had no effect. The pasta dishes at Happy Italy are very tasteless, dry; every bite feels like a ball of flour without flavor in your mouth, no matter which sauce you have with it. I think the pasta they make contains too much flour or something similar; I am not a chef, but I haven't experienced this at any other Italian restaurant. There is something soggy and tasteless about the pasta dishes that makes them really not tasty. It pains me to say this because the staff, especially the manager, is a star, but I think he was also helped to get honest feedback. So food… no. The waffle for dessert was also old and dry. The pizzas were tasty and big!

We ate at this restaurant today. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly. Our food and drinks arrived quickly. Our children had a great time playing. The only downside is the cleanliness of the restrooms and changing area. For a child-friendly restaurant, these could definitely be better maintained. Everything else was great and definitely recommended!

Great food in a nice atmosphere

Last weekend we celebrated a last-minute children's party. I was a bit skeptical at first because of the reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised and had absolutely no complaints about the food or the equipment. The manager and staff were very friendly. They regularly checked if we needed anything. Nothing was too much trouble. The children had a wonderful time and were still talking about it the next day. They ordered pizza and I ordered pasta and Bu ratta, which were simply delicious! The children had a great time in the play area, and it was quiet. We were even able to stay longer than we had booked. My compliments to the team and the manager ❤️ The price was also very reasonable, so I definitely recommend it for next time!

The prices don't make you happy (anymore); they used to be always cheap and delicious. Wait times were enormous. Now they're simply too expensive; it's better to choose a local pizza place—more atmosphere, better quality, and the same price. Too bad, Happy Italy.

Contrary to the many negative reviews, we had a delicious meal here! The service was super friendly and cheerful, and our food (two pizzas and a children's pizza) was ready within 20 minutes. It's a bit busy because of the many families with children, but you know that beforehand. It didn't bother us at all in the dining area! The pizzas tasted great, and the portions were generous, especially considering the Kruidvat deal we had.

Good food for a decent price, the portion size is perfect. I had the ai fungi + pancetta + arugula + veggie meatballs (which were delicious, by the way). It was more expensive than the rest of the menu, but absolutely worth it, in my opinion.

*** service. This is now the second time we haven't been welcome to dine. Yes, only at this or that late, while we're staring at a completely empty restaurant. We even called ahead to ask if we could 5:15 PM. They said, "Yes, you can just walk in." When we arrived, they casually told us there was no room and that we'd been talking to the main office. Haha. 😡 They didn't mention that, and caller ID said Happy Italy Spijkenisse. We arrived at 5:20 PM to find the restaurant almost completely empty. No smile, no apology. Just, "I have no room, they're taking reservations." You can dine at 6 PM. Listen! That's completely wrong. 6:00 PM is possible, 5:30 PM is not. The restaurant is practically empty. You're only there for a maximum of one hour to eat a pizza. This is completely insane. Every time we've eaten, there's always been something wrong with the food we ordered, either barely any table service or a very long wait. Great. Another time, we just wanted to walk in because we know the restaurant is never full, and the same story. We were refused entry even though it was completely empty.

There wasn't enough staff so we had to wait a long time

We came here with my daughter (2), and she wanted to play in the play area. However, the back door to the play area kept opening, so I didn't dare leave my daughter there alone. Children can accidentally go outside, and very young children, in particular, don't know where to go, with all the consequences that entails.

The kids love the pizzas and the "mini-Monkeytown" play area. We love coming here 👍

Had a great experience. Much better than the last time with friends a few months ago.

It's like Monkey Town. You have to wait ages to be helped and get your food. I also asked for Coca-Cola and got Pepsi. When I said I don't drink it, the person just walked away. And I could just pay 3.80. Later, I understood why the people who work there don't speak Dutch, only broken English. I don't like the food, it was really bad. I won't be going back.

My compliments to the new manager with reddish-brown hair who helped us last Saturday afternoon. She seems to be a bright spot for this restaurant. She went above and beyond to make everyone feel comfortable, despite the staff shortages. Her service was fantastic! 🌟

Saturday afternoon or midday is better. In the evening, it's a disaster! Yesterday, 3 adults and 2 children made a reservation for 6:45 PM, and we were on time. When we could order, we ordered both drinks and food right away. After an hour and two requests, we finally got our drinks. Another hour later, the food finally arrived: 4 pizzas and a pasta dish. The food was good. While waiting, we saw and experienced a few things. The service was very poor and disorganized. The pizza makers worked well and quickly, much too quickly for the service staff. At one point, more than 20 plates of pizzas sat there for over 20 minutes. Later, we saw, I think, 10 pizzas being thrown in the trash. People left. The service staff acted like headless chickens (not all of them), for example, walking around with just one pizza. The structural problem is that there were too few service staff, and there's no manager to direct people and assist where needed, or to keep an eye on the team and tell them what to do. I didn't use the restrooms this time, but my girlfriend did, but they really need more attention. Cleaning once a day in such a large restaurant isn't enough. They have to make decisions when it gets to be too much, stop taking reservations for the restaurant, and perhaps stop serving food for a while. But that does require a good manager who is well-organized, knowledgeable, and has the courage to say no. I worked in service at a pizzeria for years, so I know what I'm talking about. I hope this helps improve things.

Pizza was little too salty for my taste and cold coffee was really bad the photo shows nice siroop smeared on the glass but was worst . Serveerster said corporate office decided so. Really Wierd!!!!🤌🤌 I have added photos for cold coffee reference.

Great service and delicious food. We were pleasantly surprised and will be back.

We where coming in for lunch in an empty restaurant. We where offert a menu card without a choice of lunch . So we ordered a simple pasta meal and butter garlic bread. After half an hour of waiting we had to ask the waitress what happened to our order. Apparently she forgot to inform the kitchen. The garlic butter bread was plain the pasta was cooked perfect but the it was a completely tasteless portion of pasta. Just spaghetti, oil, some fresh herbs. Some salt , some garlic and some Parmesan would have made it into a simple but tasteful lunch . After this unsatisfactory lunch we discovered a little lunch menu hidden in a box on the table with lunch dishes. Why it was not mentioned by the waiter remains a hidden mystery. We clearly stated to the waitress we came in for lunch . Disappointing experience
