The sushi and meat are of more than excellent quality for this type of all-you-can-eat establishment. We were there on a weekday, so it was less busy. The service is friendly and the ambiance is also fine.

We recently had a truly delicious meal at Hasekura. The meat was of good quality and very tender, and the sushi was also very tasty and of good quality. The staff were patient in explaining the griddle and how the ordering system works. The drinks and rounds of food arrived very quickly; at one point, it did take a long time for a round, but it was getting busier at that point, and we received the wrong dish with our order, but this wasn't a big deal since it was quite busy and there weren't many people standing in the dining area. The restaurant is nicely decorated, and the music wasn't too loud and was pleasant for background listening. It was a nice evening, and we would definitely come back again.

All the meat is marinated and not very tasty. It is expensive and not convenient at all. The service is mediocre, and they even lost one of our orders.

Overall 3/5 stars, first ever visit to the restaurant. Definitely not the best in our opinion in terms of flavors and value for money but an All You Can Eat concept for Japanese BBQ + sushi is pretty fun, especially when you can eat until kitchen closing and you get to request for less salt on some BBQ items. Charging 41 EUR per person without standard drinks and many items on the menu required additional charges, such as takoyaki, sashimi, ice cream, beef tongue on the grill and many more. This restaurant is positioned somewhere between classic All You Can Eat sushi menu in The Netherlands and around a mid (some might say even low) level meat grilling specialty restaurants. 3 dishes per person per 15 minute round, which means you get to have 12 dishes per person per hour. So I recommend pacing yourself right as you have until kitchen closing, rather than trying to rush through it because you might leave feeling like you didn't get your money worth. Food fighters beware! This is probably not the right place for you simply because of the round limitations and slower pace! But for those who enjoy a nice chat with drinks & bites in between the whole evening, this might be the place for you! Sushi was ok with sufficient content to rice ratio, I recommend the maguro gunkan. Tempura isn't recommended as you can see in the photo below (arrived all soft). BBQ meat is paper thin and one order of courgette is really just 1 slice, so plan out your order per round strategically if you are planning to share! We almost exclusively ordered beef for the BBQ, didn't order any marinated meat for the BBQ and chose less salt, but for some reason we didn't taste much 'beef' flavor from the black angus, diamondhaas and beef short ribs cuts, but still ok overall with the salt and other condiments. Gyuniku Yaki is a pretty good overall as it is chunky and sharable, so we highly recommend ordering this one. The food from the rest of the teppanyaki food section can be skipped in my opinion as I thought it was not as good as the other items on the menu. I'm not sure if this is the case for someone else, but the closest parking is like a 5-10 min walk away from the restaurant, so don't expect to park right in front of the restaurant. The walk is nice though. Really had mixed feelings about this place. Currently, I'd rather go to a world kitchen buffet or a Japanese meat grilling specialty restaurant. I think there's plenty of room for improvement to actually make this a much nicer experience, and I'd like to give it another try next time if adjustments are made.

Great value for money. The food was delicious. The different options of meat were tender and delicious. There is so much on the menu but not overwhelming. The staff are friendly and alert. It was our first time here and will definitely not be the last.

We discovered this restaurant on vacation and fell in love with it immediately. We're huge sushi fans and love trying our way through different menus. The food (udo noodles, sashimi, fried rice, maki) was incredibly delicious, and the staff was extremely friendly and lovely. That's why we went there not just once, but twice. The staff even accommodated our special requests and packed our homemade lemon iced tea in makeshift containers as a tea-to-go :-). Thank you so much for the two wonderful evenings.

For a quick summary: Hasekura Alkmaar: Good place, great food, and great service. Definitely go, wow. For those who want to take their time with their reviews: Hasekura Alkmaar, where do I begin? Upon arrival? A very nice spot by the window, the most attentive and kind receptionist who didn't mind that we were a bit early. From the QR code efficiency to changing the griddle when it was dirty. From the attentive and sweet waitresses who brought all the deliciousness to the delicious homemade iced coffee. The genuinely good temperature control and the good ventilation at the ceiling so the grill doesn't take up too much space. This was a good experience, definitely worth repeating.

First visit. Friendly staff. There was sufficient choice on the all-you-can-eat menu on the website, but in practice, you have to pay extra for quite a few dishes. Sushi variety was on the meager side, so I would always choose BBQ on a visit (for a small extra charge). The BBQ was top-notch: flavorful meat and sufficient variety. All the sushi was also satisfactory. Still, 3 stars because I believe you should be able to clearly read on the website beforehand what is included in the concept and what requires an extra payment.

They do it every single time. How do they manage it? Sooooo delicious. From flamed tuna to onde onde; it’s always bang-on. We can be found here for every birthday and have never once left disappointed. Highly recommended! I’m not going to add photos, because then you’d only see empty plates :p)

Today, 24/05/2026, we came for dinner with my girlfriend to celebrate our 7th anniversary. The food was all delicious, and the staff was very friendly and helpful! We called to let them know we would be a little late, and this was no problem for them. The restaurant is also very cozy inside, and the drinks are definitely recommended. I visited this restaurant with my brother today, because we always go here when we arrive in Alkmaar, but this time we were disappointed. The orders were incomplete, and when I asked for something, I only heard “okay” and didn't get the two forks I asked for. I don't think we will visit this place again.

Delicious Japanese BBQ and sushi with a huge selection of different dishes. They also take various dietary requirements into account if you let them know in advance. There is plenty of choice for everyone.

I've been there several times with my wife. Every time it's top-notch. The food is very tasty with a lot of variety, the service is good and very friendly, and the price is very low for what is offered. There are good beers or sake on the menu that pair well with both the sushi and the BBQ.

we only tried the sushi and i am really sorry to say it was the worst sushi i ever had in my life. i wouldn’t go back for the sushi, but maybe to try the bbq which unfortunately we didn’t try. we had the “all you can eat” menu which is not all you can eat as many pieces you still have to pay extra for (and surprise, they are the best ones kkkk) the pieces we didn’t try have were ok, nothing too special, but the rice and the seaweed was really bad in my opinion, some pieces were literally falling apart. would not recommend for the sushi

Expensive and bad. There's very little variety of dishes, and those that look good are almost all paid for separately. As for the staff and the atmosphere, 0 complaints, but it's not enough to save the restaurant.

The food is okay but nothing special. What is highly irritating, however, is that they offer an all-you-can-eat option, yet we and many other guests in the restaurant had to wait at least 45 minutes to nearly an hour and a half for every single order. The restaurant wasn't even full. You are allowed to order 3 dishes at a time, and there must be a fifteen-minute gap between the next order. If it takes an hour to even receive what you ordered, that is a real disgrace. There were sounds of dissatisfaction all around us, which was also communicated to the wait staff. The only response, accompanied by a friendly smile, was "I understand." No solution, no explanation, and no compensation. They did frequently come to ask if we wanted another drink, though. Yes, that certainly pays off... A real letdown and absolutely not recommended!!!!!!! We left after sitting there for nearly 3 hours and had only received 1 item from the 3rd round of ordering.

This is an all-you-can-eat joint: not good, not even mediocre, and expensive too. Our "love box" was small, 25 euros, and 40% of it was inedible. This place is definitely not recommended. We got takeout for 81 euros and are very, very sorry.

It was pleasant, but that was more due to the staff! The food was mediocre! I couldn't eat the tenderloin twice because the pieces were too large, and the chicken was too fatty! Portions served together on a plate??? Panga fish with the spring rolls? Eby fry with the chicken yaketori?? It was just crammed together! I've always been taught not to have fish with meat!

We eat here several times a year, sometimes even monthly. Never disappointed. It can sometimes take a little longer when the sushi is busy, but that's why it's so great that you can also barbecue. Because of this, we've never had an empty table. The staff is super friendly and checks on you several times to make sure everything is to your liking. Our favorite place to go! We had a wonderful meal! We don't understand why it's rated 4.1. By far the best food of all the Japanese restaurants in Alkmaar. No sushi with cream cheese (a plus), and the meat (both barbecued and cooked by the chef) was incredibly tender. The service was super friendly. We'll be back!

They use high-quality ingredients, and you can taste it. The dishes arrived quickly, so we never had to wait long for our food, especially on a Friday evening. The staff was attentive, and as soon as we had an empty plate or bowl, it was cleared immediately, preventing the table from getting too crowded. Considering the high quality of the food, we thought the price was very reasonable. This was our first time here and a trial run, but we will definitely be back!

Despite what the online menu suggests, you have to pay extra for quite a few dishes. That's perfectly reasonable, but mention this online. Otherwise, we wouldn't have driven all the way to Alkmaar. We suspected the Wagyu beef beforehand, but even certain sushi requires an extra charge for the "complete" all-inclusive menu. We think that's misleading advertising.

We visited Hasekura Alkmaar a while back with some colleagues, it was truly a great experience. The food was amazing, and portion sizes per round were perfect for an all-you-can-eat. Besides from the food, we also ordered the homemade ice tea, which was the best I ever had. We also met the owner and some of the staff, who were all very kind. If I could rate more then 5 stars I would, definitely want to visit again!

A while ago, I picked up a small bowl of sushi from Hasekura for €65. The fish was decomposed (it had an unbelievable stench). I tried it anyway, despite my better judgment. It was disgusting, and I threw everything away. Moreover, the fish portions were tiny, paper-thin, and the already small sushi consisted of half cucumber and avocado maki. If you're using this price range, you should be selling larger portions, primarily fish. Furthermore, as a sushi restaurant, you should always offer fresh fish; otherwise, it's a fatal mistake for a sushi business owner. In short, disgusting!!! Although I should have known better (picking up from an all-you-can-eat place).

The food was fine, but a beer at €5.75 for 0.25cl is really going too far!! The staff tonight was under 18, and are they allowed to serve alcohol? Hasekura, something's not right here. Addition to your comment from 9:36 PM: It's understandable that staff are being considered, but €5.75 is really steep, especially compared to other popular locations in Alkmaar city center. €4.50 for a Japanese beer is acceptable, but actively offer it. The staff were unfamiliar with the different types of beer, nor with the differences between (non)alcoholic drinks. They also admitted to being under 18 and having little knowledge of different beers. The staff did their best, but quality and guidance were lacking.

The food is always incredibly fresh, from the delicious cuts of meat to the refined side dishes, and it's brought to our table with great care. Very disappointing, not recommended. I was here a month ago to celebrate an important anniversary with my partner, but unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. We had to wait over 50 minutes for our food, even though the staff assured us it would arrive soon because the restaurant was about to close. When our food finally arrived, the order was wrong. To make matters worse, they then claimed we'd only ordered one dish, even though there were clearly only two of us. What made it even worse was that the staff tried to avoid eye contact instead of politely resolving the issue. The whole experience was incredibly disappointing and completely inappropriate for a special occasion. Absolutely not recommended.

Great food but as soon as it gets a bit busier. It takes extremely long before you get something to eat. Even just raw meat that you have to cook yourself. Had to wait more than 80 minutes.

Unfortunately, it is always very quiet here. I'm curious how that is possible. The concept is super fun. Sushi 🍣 teppan yaki and BBQ. Make your own pieces of meat in the middle. The quality varies somewhat between the meat and the ribs were tasty but cut separately with pieces of bone randomly in between. For the price, it's fun and delicious.

Hasekura in Alkmaar is a restaurant that you will not soon forget, located on the attractive canals. The food is tasty and served in smaller portions, so you can always order something new via a handy app. Please note: you need your mobile phone to order, which may not be ideal for everyone. The interior is unfortunately somewhat dated and some details, such as the missing letters on the facade and the worn chairs, stand out. The kitchen also looked a bit messy, with a pile of unwashed glasses even though it was not very busy. The price-quality ratio could be better: four people ate for €188, which is on the pricey side for a regular Sunday evening, especially considering the all-you-can-eat formula and the somewhat outdated decor. Regarding the service: the ladies in the team were excellent and friendly, while the gentlemen could use some extra guidance. It's clearly a training company, which is fine, but some guidance from the owner could improve the experience. All in all a mixed experience: the food is tasty, but the ambiance and price level leave something to be desired. Our rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars.

All you can eat BBQ & Sushi is value for money which comes with so many options. The ordering system by QR code is quite unique, no time limit but you can only order 4 items per order per person every 15 mins but that was no problem to us at all. Very friendly staff and atmosphere. Sushi quality is also good.

I have been living in the city center of Alkmaar for 6 years now and have visited many restaurants there. Not Hasekura. Walk past it often but never been inside. Until last week. Had dinner there with a group of colleagues. Was really fine. You can order delicious dishes via a QR code. You can prepare meat yourself at the table. Great place to eat with a group. I wouldn't choose this with 2 or 4 people. A tip: after your evening at Hasekura you should take a shower and wash your clothes. You take the food smell outside with you.

Food was good. Nice concept with your own barbecue/grill on your table. Prices are friendly to the all-in concept. Drinking was special. We drank homemade ice tea. A bit pricey, but the ice tea was very tasty. The restaurant was a bit cold, so they had come up with a small electric heater for that. Personally, I thought that was a bit special, especially because that thing would occasionally cause the fuses to blow and your barbecue to go out. All in all a pleasant experience with very tasty food. After all, that's what it's all about. Definitely worth repeating.

I've been here many times. There are times when the options were less, but I think it's great here. Lots of vegetarian options and friendly staff. The cocktails are also delicious. It's just a bit on the more expensive side for sushi, but it all feels more luxurious.

Nice restaurant with many special dishes that you cannot get in other "all you can eat" restaurants. You have to pay extra for some (sometimes even a lot!), but you can also have a great evening with the "free" dishes. The Asian BBQ is great fun, but you will get a bit more cooking smell. The service is also excellent and the restaurant looks modern and cozy. We think this is a top restaurant.

Ate here for the 2nd time today. The food and staff are top notch. I just think it's a shame that there are no desserts on it that I like. Fruit and brownies are included in the dining rate. Creme brule and ice cream are not, but I don't like them. I did see that there are new dishes on the menu, hopefully with more desserts next time!

I also really felt like it was my birthday 😇 (great fun with those fireworks/sparklers) The people we invited really enjoyed the atmosphere and the atmosphere was great. Something for everyone. The reservation was also well discussed with the owner, good service and good, sweet service, good explanation for the "all you can eat BBQ. This is certainly worth repeating. Which dishes do you recommend? Everything 😉, it's really super fresh and so tasty😋 and the desserts are also really great! This restaurant is highly recommended. That's why 5 stars 👍🏽

Unfortunately had a very bad experience. We were served raw chicken, it just wasn't cooked well enough but she told us it was normal. Maybe with pig? We also constantly received the wrong order, so disturbing that we felt embarrassed to say anything about it again. The atmosphere was a bit grim. Whenever we mentioned something, there was immediately so much discussion, while the food was often really not good. I would really advise against this restaurant.

Ate at Hasekura a few times in 2023 and it was good. Went there again yesterday (Jan 2025). What immediately stood out is the ventilation: it is really not in order. The smell of food, even though we were very early and there were only a few guests. The food was also different than before: sushi varied, but very simple and sloppily made (I compare with other Asian all-you-can-eat places). I had to laugh a bit: the longer we sat there, the worse the food was served: at one point a portion of grilled steak (pieces of meat with some sauce) was served, for example, really 250 gr I think. Great, you might say. But this is not in proportion to the other dishes/portions! As if they wanted us to quickly get our fill and leave. Maybe we wanted to eat something else, but not anymore... Fried dishes were also all served on one platter (sweet and savory, on top of each other). Fine, less dishes, but it's a restaurant, not a food joint... Then put a bowl with 3 compartments or something and divide it there per dish? Furthermore, The meat was superb, the rest - really not. You have to pay extra for a slightly tastier dessert. Free only fruit and brownies. Beer is expensive, by the way.

This was the third time we went to this restaurant, the first two times very positive, between a year and a year and a half ago, but this time we were not satisfied. It starts with the menu via a QR code, worthless, you keep scrolling back and forth on your small screen, takes a lot of time and is not clear, a menu is 1000x better. Then the menu, we were surprised that you had to pay extra for so many dishes, even for a scoop of ice cream. What was also unimaginable is that wasabi (about the size of a pea) and ginger are considered one dish, Then the food itself, the BBQ meat was of excellent quality and tasty. The sushi was poorly made and fell apart when picked up. A little later when ordering multiple dishes, the various different dishes were served on one bowl without separate compartments. Then the drinks, unimaginable prices, my wife had apple juice, no not in a bottle but served in a glass, watery with lots of ice. I won't mention the ventilation. Such a shame that after two previous excellent experiences, this experience was very mediocre. I don't think this restaurant will be worth repeating for us.

Sushi was limp, little flavor, you really need the soy and wasabi in every piece. We got sick while eating, the only response was 'I'll pass it on, I'll get the bill'. Drinks are also very expensive by the glass. I heard another visitor vomit near the toilet, so it wasn't just us by chance. If I were still kind enough to pass it on discreetly... Owner's response really makes no sense! We told the waitress that we would not pay for what was left because we all got sick, and still are now! Seems very logical to me. Maybe the fish is fresh, hygiene is also a thing. The review is honest, if you wanted to discuss it you could have just contacted us yesterday as we suggested!

It was very tasty food, friendly staff and the boss is nice

Sushi was not fresh, edame beans cold and warm mixed together, meat and fish served on a plate, no good ventilation/extraction for the BBQ inside, causing your entire clothes to smell like fish. Portions were completely out of proportion. A whole mountain of tenderloin, salmon for a bite in your hollow molar. A large bottle of water for €8 (!), plus it's extremely cold when you sit by the window. Shame! Service was friendly, but that's all. Unfortunately not a second time for us.

I thought the drinks were quite expensive, 3.30 for a glass of apple juice, not from a bottle, so I now have visions of cheap apple juice for which I pay top price. For the all you can eat concept (42.50 without drinks) you had to pay extra for many things. Of the dessert, only the fruit salad (1 piece of orange, 1 piece of melon, 1 lichee and 1 piece of pineapple) and 2 small pieces of brownie were free, for 1 scoop of ice cream you had to pay 50 cents extra, for mochie 1.50. I ordered the veal tongue which was tough, my husband had angus steak satay (paid 1.50 extra for both) but that small piece contained tendons, it was not tender. The sushi was soggy, the meat for the grill was reasonable but very thin so that one side was already cooked and the other part was still raw. The service did a good job, I have no complaints about that, but what I did mind is that a young man sat next to us who did not appear to have a phone with him. After paying for his drink in cash, the young man left again. This ruined the atmosphere for us. It is a small effort to give people who do not have a telephone with them because they do not know how to use it, do not have a smartphone or have simply forgotten to give them a card on which they can tick what they want (just like +/- 4 years ago) or put tablets on the tables.

Hasekura is really my favorite restaurant! If I get sushi somewhere else, I miss the fresh sushi from this restaurant. The staff is very friendly. If you don't know how the system works yet, they will explain it calmly and take the time for you. The homemade ice tea is really my favorite! The sauces (in addition to soy sauce) are also very tasty. The food is always neatly served in beautiful containers or even boats. The atmosphere is very cozy with nice lights and videos of Japan. I definitely recommend this restaurant! It is certainly fun to try new things with the all you can eat. Pickup is also quick and easy. 10/10 recommend

Super cool vibe of this place, very tasty and fresh food. Ordering via QR code is easy and convenient. All you can eat option is the best choice if you want to taste everything on the menu and cooking the meat yourself makes it a very unique and cool experience. Tasty Japanese beer to add! Definitely worth checking out and I'm pretty sure I'll be back again!
