After 10 minutes, no one had come to the table to order anything; the terrace was a quarter full. So, I had 10 minutes to look at the price of a triple on the menu (€9). Decided to take a peek at the neighbors!

Nice for a cup of coffee or something to eat. Nice on the terrace or inside.

Not recommended as far as we are concerned. You pay top dollar and get meager portions and staff who don't speak Dutch, and then just say nothing at all! You can at least wish someone a good meal in English instead of clearing a plate and walking away without saying anything. We had a Fisherman's Platter for 55 euros for 2 people. We received a total of 10 small shrimps and 2 half salmon fillets. Broccoli was supposed to be included too. It wasn't. We pointed this out to the wait staff and were then given a kind of pureed broccoli with potato that I would give to a baby as baby food. A small round bread roll for 9 euros. We were seated at a 4-person table with 5 people; no extra cutlery was given for the 5th person, not even when the food arrived. We had to ask for a high chair ourselves for our toddler. Well, the list goes on...

Nice restaurant with an extensive lunch menu

We had reserved for 4 people, arrived early but managed to get a table with great difficulty. After 10 minutes, we were asked what we wanted to drink in a very difficult and grumpy manner, but hadn't received a menu yet. Three people ordered drinks in advance and the fourth wanted to look at the menu. We asked for it and the menu was brought immediately. After waiting for more than 30 minutes, we still hadn't seen any drinks and hadn't been asked what the fourth person wanted to drink. There was also no staff walking around, or they avoided eye contact to ask. Subsequently, they lied and said that the drinks were ready but for the wrong table, instead of honestly saying they had forgotten. We ordered food right away; we ordered the Lumberjack Platter twice (for 2 people per platter). This took about 15 minutes. The platter was tasty but not enough for 2 people; it was enough for only 1 person. Even though you pay quite a bit of money, namely 27.50 p.m. During the meal, no one came by to ask for extra drinks or how it tasted. After eating, we walked to the front to pay and pointed out that the portions were very small. Then, we were grumpily told that we could have gotten extra fries (probably for a fee), but how could we order when there was no staff to be seen anywhere? We couldn't check the bills and we didn't get the receipt either. We paid in good faith and we are never coming back here. What rude, grumpy staff, yuck!

Fine restaurant, but the tables are very dirty; they are planks put together with about 2 or 3 mm of space between each plank, full of food scraps. I came across a piece of food from 1985 😝😄

After the starter, it took almost an hour before we received our main courses (after having asked for them). Four of the five were nearly cold. The potato gratin was also dry and tasteless. When settling the bill, we had to do so in two installments: one for the drinks and one for the food. Very strange. When we received the receipts, we got a cash receipt for the drinks and a card receipt for the food. In hindsight, it turns out we paid too much for the food. Although it is a nice place and the food is tasty, for us it was a one-time visit and we won't be going back.

We didn't get our drinks until 45 minutes later. This was after they realized they had forgotten about us. We ordered a lumberjack's platter for 2 people. The food was tasty but very small. You would almost think it was for one person rather than two. And you pay 27.95 per person for it. Also, they didn't come to check if everything was to our liking. The staff were grumpy and very slow. I wouldn't be returning.

After ordering drinks, we waited 45 minutes only to find out that the order had been forgotten. This was not admitted, but we were allowed to order again. We ordered the lumberjack platter twice; the food was good, but the portion size was disappointing, while the price is quite high. (The platter was supposed to be for 2 people?)

We ate here on Monday evening in the conservatory. Cozy space. Service was prompt and very friendly. For starters, the soup was tasty, but terribly hot, clearly reheated in the microwave. Also, the bowl was far too big. The main course, leg of lamb, was good, but there were too many bits of garlic on the vegetables. We were full after this, so unfortunately no dessert. We simply had a good meal, though it was expensive.

Had a nice meal, good terrace. Service friendly and service-oriented. They come on time to ask if you would like anything else. It is a pity, though, that there is no regular frikandel instead of chicken frikandel, but tastes differ. The prices are, however, on the high side: Schnitzel €32.00 Glass of wine €6.75 and cappuccino €3.95.

Nice place, but we were here with 10 thirsty and hungry men and our visit was disappointing. After ordering 10 draft beers, it took an eternity for them to arrive at the table. After we asked the waiter to take our food order as well, he indicated that he could not take it and would send a colleague. That colleague never came. After 30 minutes, we decided to eat at the snack bar across the street. The beer there was cold, and the service was much friendlier and faster.

Herberh Tante Sjaan. The service in the evening by our fellow Dutch people was decent, but that is about it. You can have a good lunch here, and dinner is also reasonably good. The price-quality ratio is substandard. The prices of, for example, a farmer's schnitzel are really much too high. Other dishes are also quite pricey. In short, a cozy inn, especially for coffee and lunch. Dinner is not our preference.

We visited Tante Sjaan once a year during our vacation. Simply because it is a nice location with good food at a reasonable price. Our experience on August 18, '26, was a letdown. We sat down at the table at 6:15 PM. A bottle of unchilled Rivella. We did receive a new chilled bottle, though. After half an hour, the order was finally taken. The carpaccio was served soon after. It had probably been ready for a while, as it was roughly at room temperature. At 8:10 PM, the main course was finally served. The farmer's schnitzel was thoroughly grey, dry, and tasteless. The salmon was tasty, but a small round of potato product (two bites) was very meager. Fortunately, the dessert followed quickly and was delicious. This was, in fact, the only positive experience of our 2 hours and 45 minutes of dining.

A cozy place to sit. We sat comfortably outside and weren't bothered by the short shower, which was perfectly handled by the large parasols with built-in heaters. The service is friendly, the food is fine, and dogs are welcome.

Tastefully decorated, comfortable chairs, mushroom soup and fries were tasty, but chicken satay was very salty. The wine tasted old/cheap (€6.75 per glass) Price-quality ratio is not right As far as we are concerned, it is better not to expect much here except a nice place to sit.

Unfortunately, we were not pleased with this. The service was impersonal, our order was not listened to properly, and the food we received was substandard. All four of us agreed that this was one of the worst schnitzels in ages. Otherwise, it was a cozy pub, but personally, I would leave after one drink. The price reflected that as well; it was scandalous what it cost. Once and never again.

It looked cozy, so we made a reservation here. The farmer's schnitzel was dry; it came with one mushroom and a very small amount of onion. It was very disappointing, especially for this price.

Eaten alone. Pleasant atmosphere. Friendly service. Mussels are highly recommended. Forest fruit sundae delicious.

Price-quality ratio is unrealistic. A toasted sandwich cost 10 euros with barely any cheese in it, and no butter either. A dry sandwich. Service moderately busy but no attention to the customer. A nice terrace to sit on, though.

We ate there for the second time today. Both times the food was very well prepared. Good service. Both times the meat was nice and tender. Both times we sat on the terrace, which was well and pleasantly furnished. It overlooks the busiest intersection in Vierhouten, so there is always some activity, but in such a way that you can still have a quiet conversation.

I found it quite expensive and the food at my girlfriend's place was mediocre. This was resolved nicely, however, by ordering a different dish.

After 20 minutes, we went somewhere else. Even after asking to place an order, there was no response. It was busy, but surely it should be possible to just walk over to the table. Really bad.

Tonight we really had to wait way too long for the food. The beef tenderloin tips lacked flavor and were not very warm. The service could really have been better by actively going around occasionally. The 'lumberjack's plank' dish was far too expensive for what you got for 2 people.

An excellent restaurant. Everything was to our liking. Recommended. Top-notch. Parking is not convenient.

On our bike ride to Vierhouten, we stopped here for lunch. The salmon salad was so richly filled with salmon, avocado, egg, and lettuce that I could barely finish it, but it was too delicious to leave. The staff is friendly; highly recommended.

A fantastic restaurant where the food is more than exquisite, with excellent portions and affordable prices. There is a beautiful, interesting menu that changes a few times a year. It is pleasant to sit there, both in the restaurant and in the conservatory, but it is also lovely to spend time on the spacious terrace. With a Socio Deal voucher, it is absolutely more than worth it. The service is great; they are extremely friendly and helpful. Another good point is that there is the possibility to park right in front of the door; this is a godsend, especially for people with mobility issues. In short: Highly recommended!!!

Ended up here during our bike ride and had a delicious lunch. The fried egg with pastrami and cheese is recommended. I had ordered the toasted sandwich with pastrami and cheese myself, but got a toasted sandwich with only cheese. But I left it at that and it was tasty.

Food was good enough, but the staff, although friendly, we're not up to the job. Waiting 15 min for order, then 5 min for a spoon for my soup and another 10 for paying.

Paying a lot extra with a social deal

Ended up here on Sunday late afternoon; everything took a very long time. The food is certainly not bad, but definitely not of high quality. There was no communication between the staff. It was difficult to approach someone to order another drink. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. The location is great though, so it's a real shame.

On Whit Monday, we passed through Vierhouten and decided to have a drink at Herberg Tante Sjaan. Once we were seated, we decided to have something to eat as well. We chose the 'Houthakkersplank', a meat dish with pieces of chicken and beef tenderloin, served in two small bowls with a side salad and a basket of fries. The meat was of fine quality, but actually too little for two people. Because the salad (which was deliciously prepared, by the way) was also very little for two people, we ordered some extra. We were very disappointed when the extra salad was dressed less well, and it turned out that we had to pay an additional €4.90 for it when settling the bill. Any self-respecting restaurant does not charge extra for side dishes. Finally, a compliment to the friendly and hardworking wait staff on this busy Whit Monday. For the two of us, this dish cost €55, and you would expect a bit more for that price.

We had to wait a very long time for our food. Even after inquiring, to which no feedback was received. The food itself was fine.

We were touring on the motorbike 🏍🏍🏍 and stopped here for lunch. Beautiful location and delicious food.

Way too expensive. A small salmon sandwich. You pay a very high price. Service terrible and I had to wait a very long time. The interior could use a renovation, the toilets are very outdated.

We ended up here via Social Deal. We were helped in a friendly manner. The staff was very sweet to the kids. The food was a bit disappointing. The steak was very dry, the spare ribs were very fatty, and we didn't get any sauce with them either. Personally, I don't like "oink oink" pieces in my meat. Maybe it's a matter of personal taste. The rest was fine.

I've been here regularly; the last time was a disaster. I was thinking of visiting this restaurant again. I gave it the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, they are pricing themselves out of the market; it has become incredibly expensive. A shame.

Immediately upon arrival, a drink was promptly offered and the menu was also handed to us right away. Fast and good service, and the food tasted really good and was served nice and hot. All in all, very satisfied.

Friendly service and a lovely sunny terrace. The food is fine, but very simple and somewhat loveless considering the price-quality ratio. For example, we had a toasted sandwich with goat cheese and chicory, walnuts and honey with some lettuce on the side for €13.90. No special bread, no dressing on the lettuce, just a leaf of chicory and a piece of goat cheese.

Very poor value for money: frozen farmer's schnitzel with 1 mushroom on top and a few flakes of onion, and that for almost 32 euros; steak salad with raw steak. Big disappointment

We were warmly welcomed in the heated extension with a large group of ladies. That was nice, as we had already cycled quite a distance in a bit of a chilly wind. Once we had warmed up, the heaters were turned off at our request. In short, service-oriented and very hospitable.

What a disappointment. We had quite good meals there before, but this time everything was a letdown. The menu was very generic and the food was partly just not tasty. The pasta on the kids' menu was not only unappetizing but also meager. The service was unprofessional: talking about other guests, ill-fitting attire, very slow and inefficient. We had to wait a long time between courses. We were more or less left to our own devices. The bill turned out to have used the pepper shaker well, though. We won't be coming back here again; there are plenty of alternatives. In short: only the name was nice.

My husband ordered spareribs which were inedible and then had a satay. My tomato soup looked like it came from a packet and my steak was nowhere near tender and had a strange smell. The service is very friendly and helpful.

Just had a drink here. Old-fashioned atmosphere that suits the inn. Friendly staff. Tasty latte and fresh orange juice. But 10.50 for these two drinks. I find that quite steep. The menu looked good, but steep prices here too.

The chosen omelette was a bit ordinary for the price. The waitress on the terrace could be a little friendlier. Putting the plate down and walking away isn't really customer-friendly.

We had a very delicious meal. The restaurant is lovely and the atmosphere is very pleasant. The staff is very friendly and checks on you regularly. The food tasted good, but it was expensive, and the silverskin was still attached to the ribs. We were a little surprised by this, as it's usually removed beforehand. 2 x pastries and coffee and 2 x coffee for 18.00 euros. The coffee comes 10 minutes before the pastries. So I say, give me another cup. I have that after 10 minutes but later. DEAR OWNER, DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PLACE SHOULD HAVE ITS BUSINESS IN ORDER.

Delicious food but a bit more pricey than average.

We had a fantastic meal last night, and the mushroom soup is highly recommended. I asked for the recipe, and then I was given a mushroom soup with a slight variation as part of the main course.

Delicious food, great social deal. The menu is quite different, though, (in my opinion) now with many main meals requiring an additional charge. So I'm not sure we'll buy a deal again.

Today, it wasn't really busy when we arrived, but tables were covered in clutter and hadn't been cleared. Customers had to ask for their own tables to be cleared from previous diners. The waitress was completely disinterested. The prices were excessive and very high! After waiting too long for service, we left and went to De Vossenberg restaurant across the street—it's fantastic! A message to the owner of Aunt Sjaan's: look at your colleagues across the street to see how things should be done. It was packed, and the service was excellent and the tables were clean.

We had a delicious meal at Tante Sjaan's on New Year's Day. We enjoyed the tenderloin and rib-eye steak. Cutting down on meat hasn't worked yet on this first day of 2026. 😊 The service was very friendly, even though they were incredibly busy.

Unfortunately, it was a disappointing lunch spot. We'd often been here for work in the past. This time with my partner. Upon arrival, the first woman allowed us to choose a spot. Finding a truly empty table proved difficult, as 70% of the tables still needed to be cleared. We found a spot. The second woman barked at us asking if we had a reservation and what we wanted to drink. We did indeed have a reservation for lunch. We ordered our drinks and were given two cards. We both took the midday snack. My boyfriend asked if he could have mustard soup instead of tomato soup. The second woman found this very difficult, but with a grimace and a deep sigh, he was given permission. The second woman could be very friendly, albeit fake. Apparently, a lot went wrong with the food at the table behind us, and they responded very condescendingly and apologized with many fake smiles. I think there were three women serving, besides the kitchen. The pace of all the women was deplorable. It's understandable that people had to wait so long and none of the tables were cleared. The food was acceptable. I had the vegetarian option of the 12-hour meal. The beet salad was literally cubes of beetroot on a bun. Red onion was sprinkled all over the plate. The garnish was brown and the cucumber was runny. The soup and croquette sandwich were delicious. The coffee was also good. If you want more drinks, order them immediately because no one comes around for a second round, and you'll be expertly ignored. We heard two other tables irritatedly ask if they could order something after waiting 20 minutes. The atmosphere is okay, but the dirty, uncleaned tables don't help the mood. I understand that there might be a shortage of staff. But considering they had plenty of time to chat among themselves at the bar, and the pace wasn't exactly brisk, I don't think that was the only issue. I found the price high for everything that went wrong and the poor service.

A neat place with private parking. Reservations are recommended to avoid disappointment. Dishes are small and reasonably priced. We didn't see any culinary highlights, but that's not what you come for. The downside was that there were only two waitresses, resulting in many dirty tables and a long wait for orders to be taken/served. This made it impossible to have a quick bite.

Only positives. If I lived nearby, I'd know what to do.

On December 5th, four of us unexpectedly dined with Social Deals. I had a general feeling that the price wouldn't be good. Not specifically for this restaurant, mind you! But we definitely came back from that. Simply perfect: pleasant service, cozy atmosphere, and delicious food. Definitely worth repeating.

After a day spent exploring the Veluwe, we enjoyed dinner here at Tantje Sjaan. We arrived early, so we were able to choose a comfortable table at our leisure. We received a friendly welcome from the waiters/hosts. We were politely asked if we'd like anything to drink, and the menu was explained (social deal). There was also a game menu. The men's carpaccio was delicious, as was the chicken soup. For our main course, we had rib-eye steak and venison steak, served with fries/baby potatoes, vegetables, and a sauce. It was delicious, with generous portions. And for dessert, we had Dame Blanche and the Tante Sjaan ice cream sundae. Simply delicious, honest food at a great price. I'm looking forward to the next time.
