It was a very cozy restaurant, very friendly staff and good service. We had the food quickly and they always asked if it was to our liking, so for a nice and good atmosphere, this is highly recommended.

In the center of Groningen, near the Grote Markt and the Forum, lies Het Pakhuis in a small street. It is a very atmospheric café-restaurant with very friendly staff, housed in a genuine old warehouse. We were recommended this place for dining with cheese fondue. And rightly so! The two of us chose the cheese fondue with the homemade beer pairing; because we are not allowed to drink alcohol, arrangements were made for us to have homemade iced tea instead. It was very tasty, with a berry and lime flavor. The fondue was delicious (it was our very first time for both of us), and the fries and salad were also very good. Afterwards, we had a tiramisu dessert, which was also very rich. We had to pay 56 euros for everything, and it was certainly worth it. We had reserved in advance, which is definitely recommended on a Saturday evening. We received polite email replies regarding my questions about alcohol and a few other things; good service! Please keep in mind that this restaurant is not really suitable for people with disabilities. The entrance is located in an alley, up to the first floor, followed by an open iron staircase. Super delicious daily special: pita with oyster mushroom shawarma. It's truly indistinguishable from the real thing. It's also a lovely, atmospheric spot with friendly staff. Definitely recommended.

Unfortunately, a very bad experience. You think you're having a nice meal with a large group, but then all the arrangements are ignored. Several dishes are unavailable. Small portions. The downstairs area was also cold and lacks ambiance. The manager doesn't respond to complaints. So, don't go.

The new menu is really great! You can order a daily special or a student meal. Delicious food at a great price, and it's always a pleasant place to sit at Het Pakhuis. A while ago, we had tagliatelle with vegan mushroom stroganoff and veal stew with friends. We had a nice beer, and it was a fantastic evening!

I can say that I had a good time in this place, located in a small alley in the centrum of the city of Groningen, giving off an authentic cozy vibe, the atmosphere is really nice and heart warming the decorations are simple and cozy I ordered a steak bavette it comes with fries and salad the steak was slightly over cooked but still it was nice and tasty with some Chilean origin red wine that was so comfy, the staff are so friendly and nice the whole experience was nice, comfy, and heartwarming, you can try it.

Pakhuis is a nice nightlife venue with a wide bar and a tiered dance floor. Excellent entrance and exit, just slightly wider than other places making the flow of people smoother; the security guard applied good crowd control so it wasn't too crowded, less risk of crowd crush inside. The interior was very open with a higher ceiling than average. The floor in front of the dance floor was very sticky due to spilled drinks; old shoes are highly recommended for the steps here. Prices and selection were okay, a good starting point for the evening.

I recently had a lovely meal at Pakhuis. They had a vegan student special there, and it was incredibly tasty. It is truly a breath of fresh air that you can eat such delicious and affordable vegan food in the city these days. The atmosphere was very cozy. Highly recommended! I'll be back soon.

Great spot for a cosy dinner with friends :) They offer a studentenhap and daghap (student meal and daily special) which are both affordable, but also surprisingly diverse. Not the usual standard budget meals. We had veal stew and tagliatelle with vegan mushroom stroganoff, shared some extra fries and a crème brûlée, and were absolutely stuffed. All very tasty! Staff is super friendly, they recommended a great draft IPA and were more than happy to give us a cheeky extra bowl of parmesan for the pasta.

We ordered the vegererian daghap and it was suprinsingly good, would recommend and go back.

An evening at Pakhuis, lovely! Normally, I can be found downstairs on Friday and Saturday nights hitting the dance floor, because, well: this is, after all, one of the few places in Groningen where you can still hear truly decent music (and in a beautiful building, to boot). A gem among all those lame party bars. Anyway... tonight I decided to grab a bite to eat here again after a long time, and I left incredibly satisfied. The vegetarian daily special was not only very tasty but also very filling. Sometimes you get one of those (vegetarian) meals that you’ve already forgotten about after two minutes because the portion is so small; that was absolutely not the case this time. My tummy was nice and full, and I was totally happy! A great atmosphere all evening, a nice mix of people, and the waitress with the headband was also very much at ease: no cold formality, just relaxed and friendly. Nicely dressed too, by the way! Still a really fun place to visit!

It takes a bit of searching, but once you do, you’ve found a place where you can spend a wonderful evening! The menu is clear and is supplemented with daily changing specials (meat/vegetarian/vegan) or a student meal. I had the vegetarian special and my dining companion had the spareribs, which are a standard item on the menu. Both dishes not only looked good but tasted delicious too. The warm, cozy atmosphere of the restaurant and the friendly service made it a lovely experience at this eatery. In short: highly recommended!

Het Pakhuis - a hidden gem. It’s evening. I don’t have any food at home and I am just walking around Groningen city centre looking for something nice. Doner kebab has become boring, and other places look overcrowded – not what I am looking for. I stumble upon an alley which some time ago looked dark and sketchy but now is covered by warm, bright (maybe a little too bright) lights and I see a signboard – Het Pakhuis. My gut made a choice for me and I climbed the stairs to the restaurant floor. Everybody knows that the 1st impression after walking through the door determines the whole dining experience. The 1st thing noticed was the building itself, which does not look like a lot from the outside, but reveals its history on the inside. I’ve been told by the staff greeting me with heartwarming faces, the building was a spices warehouse. You can still see it from industrial looking supporting columns. Although now all the spices are in the kitchen and on the plates and the restaurant is filled with wooden shiny tables, romantic candle lights and fine dining dreamy music. After sitting down at a table I am offered a selection of eight wines, five tap beers and an wide selection of canned and bottled ones, which at first seems overwhelming. It’s a good thing that the waitress can help me choose quickly, reading my taste from a few sentences and offering me something I didn’t even know I wanted. The "Liquid Staycation" did what it had to and made me stay to try the food. Pakhuis offers various appetizers such as broodplank with constantly changing dips, bitterballen etc. My choice was arancinis, made by hand. Believe me when I tell you, I could taste the love in every bite. They were followed by a daghap vlees of a Goulash with deer meat, a salad and some fries. Vegetarians and vegans are welcome here, with separate daghap options. The food was delicious. I had to finish the sauce on the brim of the plate with some bread I had left. Another thing I need to point out is the philosophy of sharing here. It is a perfect choice for dates, as if you are sitting with your crush at a table you get one bowl of salad and fries together with separate mains, which at 1st seemed a little unorthodox for restaurants, but makes the interactive experience inevitable. I could not think of another better ice-breaker and a way to feel connected to the person on the other side of the table myself. By the way, if you believe in olive theory this is the best place to test it! Apart from daghaps which are changed almost daily, Pakhuis also offers their classics – juicy glazed spare ribs, or a cheese fondue to pamper your palette. The chefs are aware of the creativity/conservativity trade-off – do not break what already works best, but leave space for creativity and surprise. (Oh and did I mention that products get to Pakhuis from local Groningen suppliers and growers?) This applies to the desserts, which are changed almost daily. Once again, vegans also will find something for themselves in the sweet realm after a filling dinner. Enough about the food, let’s get back to the atmosphere. I was surprised about how calm the staff looked even when it got a little busier. They are interactive, communicative, and welcoming people, being able to throw a joke at each other while carrying four plates at a time, which seems magically effortless. Their smiles seem genuine and their connection reminds me more of a family than a simple restaurant staff. As one waitress told me “Here at Pakhuis we are a family, connected not by blood, rather by the opportunity to share the warmth we have with every guest coming in”. I am not natively Dutch myself, thus I struggled to understand the exact meaning of the word “gezellig”. In order to understand it you have to experience it and Het Pakhuis is a place to do it. I love what this restaurant has to offer – a safe and cozy place right in the centre of Groningen where most places seem chaotic and commercialised. And if you also do not have anything in your fridge and it sucks thuis, come to Pakhuis. You won’t regret it.

Had a very pleasant evening with a tasty daily special. They also had an affordable student meal for just €12.50! We had the meat and vegetarian daily special, a venison stew, and a pasta stroganoff. Good daily special for such a low price!

Cozy eatery with 3 delicious daily specials, a student special, and a set menu. Behind the bar was a spontaneous waitress who had our drinks ready quickly. The food was on the table fast too!

Had dinner with the family today. The service was friendly and prompt. We have no complaints about the food; it was well-prepared! The building does feel a bit old, but that's something you have to appreciate.

Once again we had a delicious meal at Het Pakhuis. Such a nice varied menu, always a nice daily snack on offer. The dishes I ate (spare ribs and apple strudel) were deliciously prepared. Super tender ribs, well-fried fries, tasty salad. And then that apple strudel with cinnamon ice cream 🤤 so much!

Delicious food for a good price. Service perfect, location perfect, atmosphere is great.

The burger was very tasteless. The burger consisted of the bun, some lettuce, tomato and some caramelized onions. The bun was not toasted, which made it a bit soggy. The burger was not seasoned at all, not even salt and pepper. It was just fried minced meat. The lettuce and tomato therefore added little to the sandwich. The sauce was too sweet and can hardly save the taste of the sandwich. All in all, too simple a recipe and certainly not worth the 16 euro price tag. For that money there are better options in Groningen. The bright spot were the crispy fries and the lettuce next to them.

The warehouse has a beautiful appearance from the outside with lights when it is dark. The inside has an old café atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and hospitable. The food was okay, I expected more, but it can't always be perfect. They do serve nice drinks.

Cafe bar dancing Het Pakhuis. Pleasant ambience . Dance floor and bar downstairs and an extra bar and cloakroom upstairs. Normal prices. Friendly doorman. Friendly bar staff. I felt like DJ was a bit off-putting. From up-tempo rock-solid music to suddenly calm music. Etc.. But later in the evening it got better.

We came here with a large group (68) last week and everything went very smoothly. The employees at Het Pakhuis were extremely friendly and helpful. A number of last-minute cancellations were no problem at all, and they helped us very well with such a large group. In addition, the food was delicious and we were able to get a very nice deal.

We ate delicious unlimited spare ribs, 1 portion was immediately sufficient. 3 large pieces. Delicious fries. Add a bread board as a starter and finish with a well-prepared crème brulee. 1 minus point I didn't think it was very warm there, but what do you want in an old warehouse with temperatures below zero outside. Price-quality ratio is good!

After 2 pieces of ribs I discovered that there were pieces of plastic (white) under my ribs. At first I thought it was coleslaw. But unfortunately it wasn't the case. There was no coleslaw in the salad. It was taken to the kitchen. Then it was said that I would get a drink on the house and whether I wanted a new one. Unfortunately my appetite was already gone so I didn't order any more ribs and only finished 2 pieces. So asked if it could be taken off the bill. Dan wasn't entirely happy with it, but in the end they did it.

They send you away for no reason and give no further explanation as to why. Extremely annoying tent and especially annoying guards.

Ate here today, it wasn't great. On the phone they promised a satay meal of the day, unfortunately this was not the case. Mistake can happen. All three of my friends' chosen dishes were not good, but I can recommend the spareribs. Eating & drinking took a long time & it was also very expensive. So not recommended

An informal eatery and restaurant. Has been around for several decades. The three-course menu is delicious, good, varied and remarkably spacious. The friendly, attentive and alert service stands out. The decoration could use an update.

Super lekker gegeten. Spareribs zijn zeer aan te raden, maar de kaart is overal erg goed. De bediening trouwens ook. Heb het idee dat ik verliefd geworden ben op een van de bardames. 😉

Aangenaam etentje? Dat is hier te vinden! Op een maandagavond ging ik met twee vrienden van mij uiteten. Hiervoor hadden wij een plek gereserveerd bij Het Pakhuis in Groningen. Om vijf uur in de middag konden we hier naar binnen, dus hadden we toen afgesproken voor het restaurant. Daarna liepen we naar binnen en gelijk al bij binnenkomst werden we vriendelijk ontvangen. De sfeer tussen ons was leuk en gezellig. Vanbuiten zag het restaurant er een beetje vaag uit, erg weggestopt en onbereikbaar. Maar vanbinnen gaf het een supergezellige straling af. Het personeel vroeg waar we wouden zitten en mochten vervolgens onze eigen plek uitzoeken. We werden direct bediend door een superaardige serveerster. Ze bood aan of we al wat te drinken wilden. Echt een topservice! Het restaurant is gevestigd in een oud pakhuis wat hele leuke structuren terugbrengt in het interieur. Oude balken en kozijnen geven er een gezellige draai aan. Het was leuk ingericht met planten, oude posters, gezellige lichtjes en leuk meubilair. Ook hingen er oude fotolijstjes met foto's van oude beroemdheden die een 90's gevoel terugbrachten. Naast het geweldige interieur was het eten ook geweldig. Als voorgerecht kregen we nacho's die geweldig gekruid waren en met een saus geserveerd werden. De saus was een rode tomatensaus die een tikkeltje pittig was. Op de nacho's zaten verschillende gesmolten kazen. Eén witte kaas die op mozzarella leek en een andere kaas die cheddarachtig was. Ook zaten er nog (rode)uien, tomaten, gehakt en jalapeño’s op. Daarnaast als hoofdgerecht koos ik spareribs à la pakhuis die zeer indrukwekkend waren. Op het bord lagen er 3 stukken vlees met daarbij een handvol patatjes en wat salade in een klein schaaltje. Daarbij werden er twee sauzen in kleine bakjes geserveerd. Eén witte knoflooksaus die zeer smaakvol was en één rode chilisaus die licht pikant was. Beide sauzen waren een goede toevoeging aan het gerecht. Het vlees was mals en in een heerlijke saus bereid. Maar aan de patatjes was niks bijzonders. Ze waren niet goed gekruid en aan de koude kant. Er zat nog een kleine salade bij wat het gerecht afmaakte. Qua originaliteit viel het mee hoe bijzonder de gerechten waren. Geen extra toevoegingen maar gewoon een standaard en smaakvol gerecht. We kozen als groep om geen dessert te nemen aangezien we allemaal gevuld genoeg waren. Bovendien werden de gerechten natuurlijk geserveerd door een bediening. De bediening was erg vriendelijk tijdens ons bezoek en vroeg beleefd of alles naar wens was. Ook kwamen ze vaak langs en handelden ze onze vragen goed. De serveerster stelde zichzelf leuk voor en vertelde enthousiast wat de maaltijd van de dag was in het restaurant. Er werd uitgebreid verteld over de gerechten die we geserveerd kregen wat erg aangenaam was. Zelfs de kok van het eten kwam haarzelf ook nog voorstellen wat super lief was. De bediening gaf een leuke sfeer af en ik vond het zeer vermakelijk. De prijs-kwaliteitverhouding is ook zeer goed. Kort samengevat was het eten lekker en het idee van in een oud pakhuis zitten ook erg leuk. Het is leuk ingericht en perfect voor een gezellig etentje met een klein prijsje. Zelf heb ik een geweldige avond ervaren en zou ik het restaurant zeker aanraden om zelf een keer uit te proberen met vrienden of familie. Felice Weening 26-10-2023

Echt heerlijk gegeten en vriendelijk personeel, we hebben het er erg naar ons zin gehad! Kan niet meer zeggen dan gezellig en goede sfeer.

goed eten, leuke kaart. helaas opnieuw moeilijk om de aandacht vd bediening te krijgen.

Een uur nadat de bestelling was opgenomen kwam men vertellen dat een bepaald gerecht niet meer te bestellen was.... daarna duurde het nog een uur voordat het hoofdgerecht uiteindelijk kwam. Maar vlees was koud.. Gevraagd hoelang het duurde voordat er een dessert gebracht zou worden, 10 min werd er gezegd. Dat werd dus 30 min. 3 uur gezeten voor een hoofdgerecht en dessert van gemiddelde kwaliteit. Hier zien ze ons niet terug.

Bijzondere locatie in het centrum van Groningen, lekker eten en jullie gastvrijheid stelden wij erg op prijs. Vriendelijke en vlotte bediening

Ik heb er niet gegeten, echter weet ook niet hoe ik ben thuis gekomen. Alleen dat het super gezellig was.

Lekker eten en leuke bediening. Vanwege het 50-jarig bestaan hingen er allemaal leuke vlaggetjes en andere versiering, en mochten we zelf kiezen hoeveel we betaalden voor het eten. Super leuk!

Summerdeal geboekt voor 2 personen. Voorgerecht veel brood en beetje boter en olie; beetje teleurstellend. Hoofdgerecht: spare ribs(die waren gelukkig prima volgens mijn gast) en kaasfondue met brood en diverse groentes. Kaasfondue was ronduit slecht! Leek meer op een chemische kaassoep met nauwelijks smaak. De groentes bestonden uit enkele, niet gare worteltjes. Bij het meegeven van mijn feedback aan de gastvrouw kreeg ik bik navraag terug, dat de kok het een volgende x beter zal doen. Er werd geen compensatie oid aangeboden. Ook geen kop koffie van het huis. Bediening en uitgeven van de gerechten verliep traag en soms rommelig. Jammer en voor verbetering vatbaar.

Via het Laatste Tafeltje hebben we hier Heerlijk gegeten. De gastvrouw was erg vriendelijk en zeer attent en hield alles goed in de gaten. Ik ben nogal een sparerib liefhebber en voor mij is er maar 1 restaurant die de lekkerste spareribs maakt (Andre Dokter) maar deze kwamen heel erg in de buurt van die van Andre . Zeker een favoriet erbij ! De Pepersteak was ook heerlijk! Voldoende frieten en salade. Het broodplankje vooraf was ook erg lekker. Het dessert een Cafe Frappe was voor mij iets aan de sterke kant, maar redelijk goed te doen door de vanille-ijs en slagroom. De cheesecake is een aanrader voor wie daar van houdt. Wij komen zeker weer een keer terug!

Prima restaurant in hartje centrum van Groningen. Bediening is vriendelijk, behulpzaam en gastvrij. Ze beschikken naast een prima kaart, ook over een leuke en goede daghap (voor een zeer mooie prijs). Ikzelf heb hier een voortreffelijke pepersteak, met frietjes en garnituur gegeten (behoorlijk groot portie). Minpuntje was de wat karig sfeer (restaurant was bijna leeg), en het ontbreken van airconditioning (was met dit zomerweer behoorlijk warm).

Vanavond heerlijk gegeten in Het Pakhuis. Er hangt een gezellige en prettige sfeer in het restaurant, het eten was heerlijk en de prijs- kwaliteit verhouding is top. Extra complimenten voor de gastvrije en vriendelijke gastheer! Zeker een aanrader.

Super plek voor een dansje en een borrel!

Heerlijk achteraf restaurant, bar, disco. Latte macchiato gedronken deze keer, volgende keer meer......

We kwamen met een groep eten, qua groepen doen ze het harstikke goed qua snelheid etc. Alleen wel teleurstellend dat indien je vegetarisch wilt eten, maar zonder paddestoelen, dit simpelweg niet kan. "Dat wordt dan dus de kipsaté?" was het antwoord. Beetje vreemd... Nu had ik als maaltijd dus patatjes en een salade, omdat er niet iets anders vegetarisch bereid kon worden kennelijk. Beetje teleurstellende service. Heb een keer eerder zoiets meegemaakt toen ik hier een proeverij van voorgerechten kreeg (verzocht zonder paddestoelen). Toen 'kon ik er ook wel omheen eten toch?'.

Heerlijk gegeten, de beste spareribs en super aardige bediening! Dit is echt mijn favoriete restaurant

Via het laatste tafeltje een 3 gangen keuze diner geboekt. Bij aankomst bleek dat er geen keuze was voor het voor- en nagerecht, dat was een proeverij. Op zich geen probleem, maar ik heb wel aangegeven dat ik dit graag zonder paddestoelen wilde, omdat ik op de kaart al meerdere voorgerechtjes met paddestoelen zag staan. Dit was prima. Echter kwam er toen alsnog een gewone proeverij met de gerechtjes met paddestoelen. Er werd excuses aangeboden "maar ik kon er wel omheen eten toch?". Beetje jammer, dan had ik liever zelf een voorgerecht gekozen wat ik écht lekker vind, I.p.v. dat ik nu 2 van de proeverijgerechtjes moest overslaan... Hoofdgerecht en toetje waren wel lekker.

Verbazingwekkend lekker. Ik ken het meer als bar en als plek om te huren, dus had niet veel verwacht van het eten. Het voorgerecht, een proeverij, smaakte goed en was verrassend. Onze hoofdgerechten, peurgarnalen en kaasfondue, waren beide erg lekker, net als de grand desserts. Het is een gezellige plek met een relaxte sfeer. De serveerde was heel vriendelijk.

Jammer dat de akoestiek wat minder was, sfeer heel gezellig

Als vanouds. Was al een tijdje niet geweest, maar voelde gelijk weer goed. Ontspannen. Geen poespas, maar gewoon leuke bediening en lekker eten. Niks meer aan doen!

Heel sfeervol en gezellig restaurant! Het eten was ook echt goed!

Gezellige sfeer, leuke kaart en goed eten. Vriendelijke bediening, voor herhaling vatbaar !

Het Pakhuis was jarenlang een begrip in Groningen. Wij zijn hier regelmatig geweest over de laatste 30 jaar. Het was altijd druk en lekker. Helaas is dat niet meer zo! Gisteren een de heel slecht gegeten. De uiensoep was hands down de vieste soep die ik ooit gegeten heb. De opdringerig en overvriendelijk (eigenaar?) maakte de ervaring er niet beter op.

De onbeantwoorde mail; Gisteren heb ik met vrienden bij u gegeten. Dat doen we trouwens al een jaar of 35. De bediening is wisselend, jong en allervriendelijkst. U raadt het al , er komt een maar en zal maar direct in huis vallen. Ik heb een zalm besteld en die was BEDORVEN. Na dit gecheckt te hebben bij de tafelgenoten heb ik deze teruggestuurd. Het glas wijn kreeg ik van het huis. Aardig. Ik heb vervolgens een (goedkopere) vega curry besteld en heb deze opgegeten terwijl mijn tafelgenoten zo ongeveer klaar waren. Jammer. Daarom gaan we niet op zaterdagavond uiteten. Bij de koffie was ik zo brutaal de cognac ook als tegemoetkoming te vragen. “ U heeft toch al een glas wijn gekregen “ zei de heel aardige jongen achter de bar. Verder hebben we niets van de kok gehoord of gezien. Bij de afrekening stond de ( BEDORVEN) zalm gewoon op de rekening , die we betaald hebben. Dom misschien. Natuurlijk heb ik wel aangegeven dat dit een beetje vreemd was. Bedorven zalm en toch op de afrekening? Heel bijzonder. “ Het stond in de computer”, zo zei de bar jongen. En dan heb ik het niet over een vaatdoek dat gedurende onze aanwezigheid op de andere tafel lag. We sluiten tijdperk na 35 jaar bij Het Pakhuis af. AEL . BR. te Groningen

Great wines and staff. Those do not make up for the overcooked steaks / ribs and mediocre veggie curry. Tip for the chef: Do not try aubergine if you don't know how. The soundsystem in the club downstairs, is mediocre and should probably not be turned on before 9
