It opens at 9 and serves nothing but croissants. It's best to arrive two hours later so everything is ready.

It’s closed! I spent my time to go there and it’s changed into hotel! Close the website if it’s not open as a brunch any more

Had a quick lunch in this café found while walking Harlemmerstraat. Cozy environment with a nice selection of food , especially eggs and sandwich. Staff is corteous and prices are fair. Recommended.

Calm atmosphere. Attentive service. And cuisine with good value for money.

The food is really good, loved the pancakes. The kitchen was super fast, but the service in the dining room is not great at all. The staff was friendly, but not able to manage a busy room

Good service, kind and fast staff! Not too crowned. We got the burger, the focaccia and the egg bun: very flavourful and well served. Definitely a go-to!

My wife and I had a wonderful breakfast here. The food was delicious and affordable, the music was great, and the service was warm and welcoming even though they were understaffed. If we lived here we would definitely become regulars, I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Amsterdam!

Hicks lived up to its expectations. The food looks and tastes amazing and the portions are good. There were two nice ladies serving us, only one of them was handling the tables while the other one did the drinks so the service was a bit slow. However, I would highly recommend coming here! I would definitely visit again

A beautiful old-fashioned café with fin de siecle flair. The staff was friendly and accommodating, yet seemingly not used to several costumers at once. They were somewhat inattentive towards their guests. The food was good and fast enough for a moderately filled room. The location is ideal. It's a nice enough place to meet with friends.

We came early so we had almost the whole place to ourselves. Service was quick and the food was beautiful and delicious. I require gluten free food, and they didn't charge extra for the gluten free bread, but it was delicious! I will mention, I am very sensitive to cross-contamination and feel the effects quickly, and I had gluten-like side effects within an hour of eating. It was definitely from my meal here. If it is only a preference or you are not sensitive, you may be fine. I understand that's a risk I take when eating out, so I'm not changing the rating, though I do wish they had warned me if there was gluten in the sauce. To be honest, sometimes the risk is worth it, as this was the tastiest meal I've had on our trip to Amsterdam.

The food was really good. Perfect lunch time meal. Prices were good. It wasn’t too busy. Drinks and espresso were excellent. Staff were very nice.

Went here because it was close, scored highly and a picture of the pancakes sealed the deal... Went, and it was everything I wanted, the staff were amazing and the pancakes were better than the picture!

I have eaten at Hicks many times and have never been disappointed. The service is always good and the menu selection is not overwhelming, but extensive enough that there is a varied choice. One point for improvement: even though the atmosphere/setting is "diner-like" and therefore cozy, it could use a refresh

Here for breakfast, lovely atmosphere and really lovely staff. The food was absolutely stunning! We were able to relax and people watch whilst preparing for our day. Toilets were clean. Recommend a visit here.

When you fully let go of the (stupid) American mentality of GO! GO! GO! and melt into the (far healthier) European attitude. You never forget where it first hits you, and for me on this trip, it was here. Hick's is like a set from a movie with a cast of charming servers, bartenders and chefs. There were attentive, friendly and talkative (in the best ways) for a solo traveller like me. I was blown away by the scrambled egg sandwich. So much so, the waitress and chef were both amused and pleased. So much so that a week later when I was biking by, they recognized, stopped me and then asked me to eat there again. They had other dishes they wanted me to try. So, I did and it was just... lord... I wish I lived here because this would be on my regular rotation. The restaurant is gorgeous. The food is perfect. The people who work there even more so. This is a very special place. I daydream about the random morning I stopped in and am so glad I did. No wonder the States melted away from me there...

Wir waren übers Wochenende in Amsterdam und sind zufällig an dem Laden vorbeigelaufen.. das Frühstück der anderen hat uns hereingelockt und wir wurden nicht enttäuscht! Sehr ausgefallenes und leckeres Frühstück.. Nettes Personal, wirklich empfehlenswert!

Was rather disappointed with this location as all the reviews seemed great online - our food took almost an hour and wasn’t great at all. Servers were very nice but it was obvious they were understaffed. Pancakes were very heavy on the chocolate for breakfast dish & the eggs bun would definitely not recommend to cheesy

In the vibrant Haarlemmerstraat you would find this restaurant that has vintage old vibes in decoration. Menu is wide and the food was very good and super tasty. Staff are very friendly and helpful

It was very warm inside. The staff did their best, but service took a long time and the order was incomplete. Part of the menu was not available, but a clear and timely warning was given. Food was good, not exceptional.

Very bad experience here. Service was shamefully bad, we had to ask for water three times, the food took about 40 minutes to come and in general the place was not handled properly. Don’t get deceived by the Google rating, they need a lot of work to get to a 4.6 rating…

Came here when using Google maps for research, pictures send reviews looked great, must say, lived up to expectation. The eggs benedict is to die for, fresh warm muffins too. Glad I came, and found another spot to add to the list, great quality food and honestly lovely staff.

Couldn't fault this place, we got the truffle sandwich and chicken with tzatziki and they were both 10/10. Lovely staff, atmosphere and food. Reasonably priced too

Lovely food, great chat, nice toilet. Did a number 2 which was nice as didn't have to stink 🦨🦨 out the hostel. Would avoid the loo for 10

Some members of the staff don't want to be there at all. The others are really amazing and friendly, that's why a medium score when you add up the best and the worst that's what you get😬

Pretty decent brunch place, serving mainly pancakes and egg-based brunch classics. The food is above average, but is missing the wow factor. For instance their hollandaise sauce could be more flavourful and their pancakes were a bit stodgy.

Nous avions commandé 2 jus d'orange et 2 buns aux œufs, malheureusement cela a pris une heure pour nous servir le plat après la commande. Il ne faut donc pas être pressé. Les plats étaient très bons néanmoins.

Stuff is lovely but forgets orders and gives wrong info. We were told that there were no poached eggs left (at 12.30 so not too late for a brunch place). We changed our orders. But then they brought one poached egg??! They continued bringing poached eggs to other people later. It was very weird.

The Chicken Greek sandwich is an A+ and the Egg Sandwich on Brioche is to die for.

Nice relaxed atmosphere, great service and tasty food. We ate Avocado toast, Chipo cado and Bitterballen, with orange juice and lemonaide. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

I enjoyed my brunch in Hicks Amsterdam. Hick offers a variety of options for the brunch. From the sweet and delicious pancakes with elegant touches of berries and cherries to the tasteful scrambled eggs with black olives garnish. You can see a careful attention to the details e.g., butter fried breads in your plates. The only tastes that surprised my delicious experience was the over salted bacon. The bacon Taste was too overwhelming to the other tastes that I had to put it aside to enjoy the rest. The environment in Hicks is friendly and clean. You can however deeply smell the from the people outside. In general I can see Hicks as a brunch place to frequently visit
