Salento Latino — Colombian Traditional Food in Buitenveldert-West

Today was my first time visiting the restaurant. I'm not Colombian, I'm from El Salvador, but I like Colombian food. Highly recommended and excellent service.

The Bandeja Paisa was authentic, everything was well cooked. Kind and professional. Had a lovely family christmas lunch in good hands by Salento Latino!

For me, the worst experience was the first time I ordered, and the empanadas arrived incomplete, but I didn't say anything because the product was very good. Then I ordered delivery again. The girl said they had delivery service, and I placed my order. After a while, when I asked for my address, she told me the delivery guy wouldn't arrive until 2 pm. It was 1:20 pm, and I said I could wait. At 2:36 pm, I asked if they had finally sent the order, to which the girl replied, "The address just arrived. If you want, we can send it." I found this disrespectful. If I'm paying for a service, I expect good treatment, and it was the worst. Honestly, I never would recommend them at all.

Good food. Bad philosophy and service. I was respectful all the time and I felt that they were offended for just asking if I could change the juice to have milk in it. Then I asked if it was feasible to add some milk because I did not like it, and I told them that "is included in the price right?" (Because you could choose between water (probably tal water)and milk for the juice) They gave me a full glass of milk (which was not what I asked for) but they charged me 3.50. First, if you add the milk and are going to charge me after what I said, say it to me. Second, 3.50 for a glas of milk that I did not asked for is crazy. Im fiancning 2 packages of milk with that!. I know that was busy but you could treat better your customers and if its your fault, dont charge me for the milk. Specially that ridiculous price!. I also brought another juice at the end because I put too much milk so yeah... Moreover I stepped on food in the floor, which was dirty at that moment. Just for that one Star. The food was nice overall. Ah, they also charge 1 euro for take away (this makes more sense I guess but due to the experience bothered a bit).

We went because we were invited to celebrate a birthday, and everything was great. Everything I tried was delicious: empanadas, chicharrón with patacones, chuleta valluna, arroz paisa, and picada. The portions are generous, especially the picada, which is more than enough for two people, or even three with small appetites. All the waitresses were very friendly. The place has Latin music playing and a small shop selling Colombian products.

Honestly, it was a wonderful experience. The girl who served us and the service were beyond spectacular. It was my sister's birthday, and I didn't mention it in the comments, but the girl still put up a beautiful balloon and they sang to her. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely. A gem of a place, I highly recommend it!

The food is tasty and the portions are generous, and the service is good. However, the one thing I'm not entirely convinced about is that you have to order everything through your phone, and they've got several commands mixed up and aren't very well organized.

The flavor is still good, but the last few times I've ordered the salchitodo, it's come with less food, almost no sauce, and it's very dry. Also, the delivery doesn't include napkins or cutlery.

I didn't think it was a good experience. First of all, the vegetarian options were quite limited. I ended up choosing something that was incredibly expensive and quite disappointing for the price. It was a fried banana, a Beyond sausage, and Beyond minced meat with some bean stew. It was very little for the €25 you pay. Our dishes didn't arrive at the same time at all. Two of us had already finished our meals, and then the next plates arrived. Ordering via the online menu wasn't smooth either. It wasn't possible to put the menu in Dutch or English. Paying was also a disaster. I had paid everything correctly online. When we were outside, the employee came to us and claimed I hadn't paid for everything. I showed my bank statements, and I did receive an apology; apparently, there was a glitch. All in all, a truly bad experience and way too expensive for what you get.

Celebrated a birthday meal! Tip: Definitely order the appetizers and the fruit juices—they were delicious. The rest was a bit disappointing, unfortunately. The same goes for the 30% discount, which only applied to the main course and was initially forgotten on the bill, which was later corrected. The meat and its preparation weren't really to our liking, but the portions were quite large with lots of potato products, etc., which were also included in the appetizers. Anyway, we'll have to give it another try...

I'm Colombian, and this place transported me right back to my country. The food is delicious, plentiful, inexpensive, and has truly traditional flavors. Everything is ordered through an app, which makes things much faster, but the servers who bring the food are very friendly, and they all speak Spanish. If you're Colombian and you're missing home a little, I 100% recommend this place.

Salento Latino was recommended to us by colombian friends. The food is delicious! The staff is super friendly, service is quick and the ambiente is nice and lively. There is even a play corner for kids! Definitely recommend going there. The chocolate volcano dessert is so good I almost had to cry. <3

I've been living here for a year, and going to this restaurant took me back home. The food, juices, and service were fantastic! The only thing was that I bought some things to take away, and one package of cookies tasted stale. But otherwise, it was wonderful. I'll definitely be back.

I'm Colombian and I was going to get married in the Netherlands. I was nostalgic for wanting something so personal and that would make me feel at home on that special day. Then we found this perfect and beautiful restaurant that has the best seasoning, is super delicious, and also has a very Colombian atmosphere. When we went for the first time, we felt this was the perfect place for our wedding. So we spoke with Mairon, who from the beginning was extremely kind, attentive, and willing to do what we wanted for the day. It was wonderful to have his support and that of Diana, his partner. They were attentive to absolutely everything. We had exquisite Colombian food with very elegant plating. Days before, they were attentive to every detail, and on our big day, they went above and beyond. We literally felt at home, where they took care of us and each of the guests, even the smallest details, and much more! Now, with all the gratitude in the world, I highly recommend this great place. It's literally like having a piece of our country in the Netherlands, warm, familiar, and pleasant. Now my friends and family in Holland know what I mean when I say that Colombian food is perfectly delicious, and they experienced the joy that characterizes us. Infinite gratitude to you, Salento Latino, Mairon, Diana, and all your collaborators.

We traveled an hour to get there. When we arrived, we were given some vague explanation that there was no light in the kitchen and therefore they couldn't serve us. Meanwhile, I saw people sitting inside without food on their tables, and they were still doing takeout. A very strange situation.

What a pleasant surprise, amazing food, cozy atmosphere, the digital menu with the automatic bill splitting feature is just amazing. I was not expecting to be this satisfied

The breakfasts here are 10/10: the empanadas, the chicharrón with yuca and patacon, the calentao, the hot chocolate with Latin cheese, and the fruit juices that transport us back to our homeland. Wow, thank you, Salento, for bringing a little piece of Colombia to the Netherlands.

Experience a Colombian-style meal. Original flavors with delicious traditional dishes. I recommend the meat empanadas, chicharron with fried yuca, sobrebarriga, and bandeja paisa... my favorites! Go and you won't be disappointed.

Super nice place, friendly staff, and delicious food. The big 2-people meat dish is delicious and very generous in amounts and also the Rioja red wine was really nice. Only the stuffed bell peppers are a bit overpriced for the amount of food, but excellent for the rest.

The staff is truly disappointed! They take too long, and they're apparently xenophobic! I would never go back.

The arepa was delicious, everything arrived super well packaged, with great care taken with every detail. The love and dedication they put into their food is evident. A few years ago the food was delicious we always came from Limburg to eat here but the last time we were there it was total chaos first they told my brother he could sit wherever he wanted so he sat at a table for six but there were three of us understandable this then they sat us at a table for four but the heat was so terrible that a waitress realized that we were not comfortable with the table she was very friendly by the way so I asked her if it was possible to sit outside she asked and supposedly it was reserved to which I said with this heat I'm not going to eat anything better I'll have something cold and because it was so hot I want to choke the girl put us at another table with a fan until then everything was fine we ordered some empanadas because I realized the last time I went that the food doesn't taste the same anymore and to avoid any problems I said the empanadas are always delicious the juice my mom asked for it with milk they gave it to her without milk the shrimp ceviche still had the shells my mother didn't say anything because I thought I'd said enough. When I asked the guy, have they changed owners? He replied, "Yes." To what I said, the quality of the food is remarkable, it's different from what he asked. When was the last time they had it? I reacted in June. Since then, I realized that supposedly they changed owners three years ago, which seems strange to me because a year ago the food was still good. But, well, for example, they lost me as a customer. The service was bad. The guy came to us several times with food we hadn't ordered. If you're one of those who have been going to this restaurant for years, it's better to save time and money. The only thing that still tastes the same are the empanadas. The rest is total chaos. The people are friendly, but the employees are too chaotic. It currently seems like a McDonald's. Buy and go. Before, it made you want to sit and have a coffee or whatever. Now it feels like eat and go. But, well, I don't recommend it.

The best place to have a good time and eat. The portions are quite large so you can share, the staff is incredible, and if they make a mistake, believe me, they fix it right away. The food is delicious, and they have spectacular lemonade. Everything is very clean and high-quality.

The service takes forever. You scan the QR code at the table, select the items, and pay. Now you wait for them to bring it to your table. More than 40 minutes of waiting after paying. The food is tasty. Prices are a bit high. It's been very hot in June. The smell of food is strong inside, and there's poor ventilation.

The Meat Empanadas and the fruit juices are very good, unfortunately ordered several times here main courses and all the soups are full of oil. Also the traditional Colombian Sancocho unfortunately left something to be desired. We had to wait 1 hour and 15 minutes from the moment we ordered until the main course. The staff is very friendly but unfortunately it is messy, they are slow and not attentive.

It took a long time for the order to be delivered, and the food seemed to have been made by tired cooks; it wasn't that tasty. I wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend it.

Delicious food and amazing staff 10/10

The ribs here were extremely dry and chewy it tasted like it was cooked yesterday, warmed up in a microwave and some sauce thrown in it. When I mentioned the dissatisfaction nothing was done and I was charged for an extra sauce. The premium steak was very undercooked with almost a quarter being bits of fat and raw meat.

A Taste of Colombia at Salento Latino in Amsterdam Last night, a friend and I enjoyed a fantastic evening at Salento Latino in Buitenveldert. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm welcome and relaxed, friendly service. The atmosphere was lively and inviting — definitely a good thing we reserved ahead, as the restaurant was bustling. The menu features authentic Colombian dishes, and every bite was a treat. I  loved the Tequeños and the chicken-filled empanada — crispy, flavorful, and paired beautifully with fresh chimichurri. My grilled chicken main course was cooked to perfection, and the Tres Leches cake for dessert was moist, rich, and utterly delicious. Portions are generous, prices are very reasonable, and parking is easy on the street. All in all, a wonderful night of great food, friendly faces, and vibrant ambiance. I will definitely have dinner there again . Highly recommended!

Horrible service. We booked a table via TheFork, and the restaurant offered a discount in that WAS NOT APPLIED. We asked for the discount several times, and they were constantly avoiding our requests. Therefore, I do NOT recommend this restaurant if you plan to get the discount they offer via TheFork. Apart from that, food was tasty and fine, and portions are generous.

Cozy restaurant and my first introduction to Colombian cuisine. Maybe it's just me, but I actually thought all the dishes lacked flavor. The food was therefore disappointing. I only really liked the sea bream, the other dishes were disappointing. Ordering with a QR code is not my favorite, but I understand that it is useful for catering establishments that have a lot of difficulty finding staff. However, it really took too long before the dishes were served.

I often go with my girlfriend and our two kids. The food is amazing and the service very charming. For the kids are very nice as they have a children's room with toys. Perfect for families and also safe to play outside for the kids. Highly recommended!!

I hail from the states, much closer to the home of this food than where this restaurant finds itself. Yet, eating here you would think you’ve teleported to a 5 star restaurant in Colombia. Simply put, the empanadas here are some of the best I’ve ever had and I could not recommend this restaurant more. :)
