Phu Thai Thai Take Away in Nieuwmarkt/Lastage

The food is nice, but the staff is not. We made a mistake in the order, then ordered something else which was never passed to the kitchen. This is not the first time something like this happened and we are not the only ones. We came here for more than 15 years and will not return. Avoid.

Three very different dishes. All very good taste. Spicy not sweet. Just lekker.

Just off the main roads, which is already a plus. I ate very well, paid fairly, and was served by friendly staff. The space is small, but I'd go back tomorrow for dinner.

This is the most delicious Thai restaurant in the area. I've been eating there for 8 years. The owner is Thai and very kind. The price is not expensive. You get 100% authentic Thai flavors. Anyone visiting Amsterdam must stop by and try it.

Food was OK, friendliness was modest, decor was very simple; there are better places in Amsterdam.

Open kitchen, moody hostess in a white dress, chill dude in a wife beater and shorts. Off to a good start. The smell hits you first. You know it's gonna slap. Beef noodle soup lands sweet, but balanced. Chunks of fatty beef melt right in. Kai lan for crunch. Table’s got vinegar, chili, everything you need to dial in your bowl. No gimmicks. Just good food. I’d come back, easy.

Once phenomenal for local Thais, but now very mediocre touristy, with lemongrass, ginger, galangal, and other hard herbs, along with woody herbs like holy basil and coriander, replaced by dried and powdered spices. The menu is now much more focused on simple, quick "Wok to Go" fare than "real" Thai cuisine. It's a complete mess to finally seat two tables after a half-hour wait for four people. 🤷🏻‍♂️ What a shame.

One of the most authentic Thai restaurant in Amsterdam city center with a great variety of dishes. They don’t take reservations, so be aware around dinner time it gets veryyy busy where you’d have to wait outside between 30min-1 hr for a table. But once inside the food is quickly served within 10-20min. Absolutely recommendable ⭐️

I have been to this restaurant very often and found everything to be ok, the food and service were very good. Today I went there and found the service and taste to be very bad. The staff was not friendly and they were not welcome either. It was also very free, unfortunately it was not very good. I really don't like this restaurant at all. It is very slow. From the outside, you can see that it is not ok, the food was very good. The staff were unfriendly and didn't seem welcoming at all. It was like I was eating for free while I was paying. I definitely don't recommend this restaurant. It was terrible, especially the tall, fat lady who didn't seem welcoming at all.

It's a small mom and pop store. Don't expect a lot of bells and whistles. You grab your own extra condiments on a shelf and go up to pay after eating. The papaya salad was amazingly fresh, crisp, and just enough spiciness. The pad thai was good, but it was made with a chili red sauce, not what I'm typically used to, covered up the flavors of other ingredients. The pad see-ew had too much raw white pepper doused on top of the food. It was all i could taste, and the greens tasted a bit bitter to me. I would go just for the salad if nothing else.

Delicious food - we had nr 32 and 33. The older waiter was very sweet. They have open kitchen and food preparation is really quick.

They say you never forget your first love - and how right they are. My first love was the Pad Kra Pao from Phu Thai Thai Take Away. We met a few years ago in an alley behind Nieuwmarkt and it would be a lie to claim that it wasn’t love at first sight. Ever since then I look for her in every Pad Kra Pao I taste, but no matter how hard I try to move on, no one seems to tickle my taste buds like she does. So what is left? At the end I always come back to her and I don’t care what y’all say! she makes me happy!! I will order my Pad Kra Pao again tonight. 🥰 I can’t wait!!! Because it is so delicious.

Ordered here 2 hours ago via Uber Eats. Still no food! The restaurant cannot be reached and the order cannot be canceled. DO NOT ORDER HERE!!

Don't think it's just because I was hungry. I think I haven't tried a true Thai food spot until here, it's super authentic. The food was truly amazing and generous, I could hardly finish my phad Thai. The entrée saté Kai, omg, I could have ordered 3 more and only eat that.

4.6 is overrated. Pad see eew was not tasty, way too salty and with the added surprise that I was chewing on a piece of paper/tissue. How dirty is that!

Takes to long the get the food. Waited 40 min. and the food was already standing there for god knows how long...to lazy to walk outside. 2nd time there waited for 55 minutes to get my food for take away. People that ordered 10 minutes after me got their order before me. Takeaway by uber or thuisbezorgd was going quickly. If you cant handle it. Let the customer go. In 55 min I could have cooked a 4 course meal myself at home

Uber eats said they delivered and we never received the delivery . Reported to uber eats but they took no action. Managed to finally phone the restaurant (please check your details on google guys!) but then again no action. So no solution offered or responsibility taken by none of these companies . I understand there is responsibility of uber eats but the restaurant should also be held responsible. ! Both companies are getting money out of our order! . We will definitely avoid this place (and uber eats of course) in the future. Not impressed by the lack of customer service.

I ordered the Pad Thai See Ew, and it is really amazing. It has enough intensity of heat produced when cooking in a wok. The pepper added makes the dish greater. The restaurant is worth the price and I will come back again.

Ordered via Uber eats. Unfortunately I had to wait 2.5 hours and that on my friend's birthday. The food arrived cold. Very unfortunate because the taste was good, I would not order again and certainly not recommend it, because apparently they cannot handle this (it was a Monday evening..)

Pad thai very good and very seasoned (even too much, the taste of the sweet/spicy cream was predominant). Noodle soup tells me it's good, be careful it has coriander and tastes a lot like that. The tables turn quickly, it's worth waiting a moment. Recommended, generous portions, prices for main courses €15/20.

The price is reasonable because it's in a big city location. The auntie who owns the shop and the waiter, P'Kook, are all cute. The kitchen is an open kitchen. Be careful eating here. I had the coconut soup and something like "raam naag" — basically noodles with gravy. The soup was alright, but the noodles were immediately suspicious. Right after eating, I went to pay, walked out, and literally had to rush to the toilet mid-walk. That was just the start. It’s now been four days and I still have stomach cramps, nausea, and an upset stomach that won’t go away. Something was seriously off. I don’t know if it was hygiene, ingredients, or something else, but I wouldn’t risk it again. Just a heads-up if you're thinking of eating here — proceed with caution. I usually rarely give bad reviews.

Consistently excellent food! But guys, please fix your Thuisbezorgd listing - it requires plastic utensils but at the same time says it's unavailable, which makes it impossible to order. I will never order from Uber Eats again because they add 10-15eu to every order.

I picked up here. Everything was very tasty and fresh. The bowls of rice could be a bit fuller. Update: they made the portion smaller and increased the prices. I don't come here anymore.

Best thai place in town, and this is coming from a Thai person. Trust me, no where else in Amsterdam beats this place. So authentic and the atmosphere is super cozy.

Highly recommended authentic Thai food for a fair price near the station and city in 5 min walking distance

We had lunch here and the taste of the food was very tasty, but for 19 euros we expected a slightly larger portion. The portion of the Stir Fried Wok with beef was barely larger than an entree. The Plaa chu chi (fish dish) was also just a lunch. Furthermore, the service was excellent and fast.

The food was not fresh. I had Pad Thai and the chicken was made the day before, and you can taste that is has been sitting on the fridge overnight. I won’t come here again.

10/10!!!! I already heard abt this place from my Thai friends for ages and since the first time I went it’s become my favourite restaurant in Amsterdam when you’re looking for a good, authentic meal. I go here religiously with my sister or boyfriend and can’t get enough of it. I recommend the stir fried morning glory with beef, Nam tok, and the phad sie-eiew of course.

Small restaurant with amazing food!

I’ve been this restaurant many times. But last time -on 29 December 2024- Their management about the queues are really bad. I talked with the waiter when I arrived here already that we come for two people. But the waitress asked another customers to come inside first. The waitress not accepted that she did something wrong. Just saying with me because you not tell me when you come here and her colleague not tell her as well. But when she go outside for asking which customers who come first. Me and another customers said ‘We come first’ so she knew already that we come first but just ignoring us. Another things is they selling the drinks that expired around 2 months ago for customers. (We went to the restaurant on 29 Dec 2024 but it expired on October 2024) The owner said with us that this is not her fault. It’s the company’s fault that sent the drink to her. To be honest, I felt very bad with her answer. She is the owner and open this restaurant for many years. She and her employees should check the dated when it expired with the drinks and every foods in the restaurant. If the drinks that she selling is expired and she not even care. So there is a lot of high chance that the ingredients in the foods, some of them are expired as well. Cause the owner doesn’t care about this. I really want Dutch government check the quality her restaurant soon. We are so disappointed. So I changed the review to 5 stars to 1 stars. I hope the owner will improve about this. I knew they have high ego cause they even not say sorry with us but I don’t want other customers feel really bad like me.

The food was delicious, but unfortunately the service left much to be desired. We had already waited for more than 15 minutes, while people who were in line after us suddenly got a table. When we asked the staff how this was possible, we were told that it was our own fault because we supposedly didn't indicate that we were first, while they previously explicitly asked who came first. Then we were also dismissed as spoiled. That was a very disappointing experience.
