Expensive but really really good cocktails and good vibe.

Cosy hidden gem in the city. I ordered the old fashioned which said was with peach but unfortunately didn’t taste that, however still delicious The small and skinny girl working there gave off some awkward vibes sometimes which was a bit uncomfortable but overall would return for the cocktails

Shhh! Please don't tell anyone how amazing this place is, how wonderful all the staff are or how brilliant the cocktails are as it's supposed to be a secret.

A cozy little hide-out from the rest of the city life, but still in the middle of the city. I only had one drink but it was very tasty and the staff was very pleasant. Will come back again if I'm ever in Amsterdam in the future.

Hiding In Plain Sight appears to be a wonderful ”speakeasy” to be honest! It does have more of a crowded undersized bar vibe than a “speakeasy” vibe though- one usually expects a hidden door or something but perhaps that’s a little elementary of me. There is a cozy ambience awaiting though, despite the size, and cocktails that I hear are delightful! Unfortunately, we did not get to try them as they have a policy combined with particular staff that leaves them unable to honor reservations. They state they have a policy that requires reservations to have no more than 4 to 6 people per party. Since there were more of us than listed per policy, we made separate reservations without intention to interact between tables/reservations- there is likely an image of sophistication and class this place aims to maintain which I completely understand. We wanted to use our last night in Amsterdam to celebrate a large accomplishment of a close friend of ours and thought it would be an appropriate place to have a few rounds. After an initially warm greeting by employees, we soon arrived to our table to discover a reservation that was coldly left unhonored as the hostess found our separate tables/reservations coming in together. What if our group of 6 had just met the group of 2 as strangers right before we arrived? This policy seems to be enforced quite rigidly with extreme prejudice. This is despite intentions to keep our reservations to separate tables without inter-table interaction while enjoying the ambience of the establishment and providing excellent business to the “speakeasy”. On their credit, they are quite flexible with arrival times since we arrived nearly 10 minutes late so will definitely give them credit for this unexpected flexibility (for such an “exclusive” locale). The benefit of this experience was that we got a wonderful amount of exercise rushing to our reservation and I was able to close my activity rings on my Apple watch (only to be turned down as stated previously) but then we found a delightful establishment nearby that was able to accommodate and provide us with imbibments and excellent service that one would expect from a restaurant in a developed country. We had wonderful time elsewhere while likely saving money so it was still a great night! But give it a shot- maybe they’ll be more welcoming! And if it’s larger than 4 to 6, just make staggered reservations and pretend not to know the folks from the other reservation- that’ll probably fly. Perhaps I’ll get to hide in plain sight in another lifetime- unlikely though.

I recently visited this cocktail bar with my partner, and while the staff was very nice and welcoming, the experience fell short in other areas. The cocktails were expensive but lacked both flavor and creativity. We were hoping for something more unique or memorable, but the drinks fell flat. Additionally, the atmosphere was uncomfortable due to the excessive warmth inside, which made it difficult to fully enjoy our evening.

Very interesting cocktails available and you can always ask the bartenders to make you something that's more suited to you. Cheers to Artyom for being such a friendly and talented bartender :)

Drinks were fantastic and the atmosphere was quiet, chill, and laid back. Perfect place to start the evening or end with a night cap. The service staff were so pleasant and friendly.

The staff was extremely rude and treated us with little respect, asking us not to use the phone and generally being short with us. The drinks average but very expensive. I will not be going back as I prefer to drink in friendlier establishments.

Went here for a cocktail the cocktails were okay. The staff on the other hand was not good the waitress asked us to put headphones on while we quickly listened to a message. Very pretentious vibe. cute location would be good if the staff was a bit more friendly.

Out of the way location, in a sleepy area with good drinks (not great in my opinion). If you’re around city center, there’s better options.

Came here for after dinner drinks off the main areas. Cool charm atmosphere. Cocktails were very nice, good service.

Extremely rude bar tender. Left something at the seat i was sitting on the previous day, wouldnt let me check under the seat for a lost item even though no one was sat there. Stating that "this disturbs me". Extremely unnecessary and stuck up. Considering how much we spent the night before he couldve allowed me 10 seconds to check.

Very bad tent. Made a reservation, because otherwise there would be no room anyway. After traveling for 45 minutes and walking through the rain, we finally arrived 12 minutes later than reserved, and our spot had already been taken. No alternative or kindness was offered. We were shown the door. Not informed in advance that you must not be present one minute later than the reserved time.

What a ball tent! When you come in, there is no room. Thanks to other friendly guests we were able to sit at a table. We then received the menus, which were impossible to read due to the poor lighting, so we had to shine them with our mobile phone. The staff comes and asks you to dim the cell phones, pff. Can you take a photo? Then we went to Café Cuba, much friendlier and good service

This cocktail bar near the Nieuwmarkt is great for drinking drinks and eating snacks. Imagine yourself in the 1920s and enjoy very strong cocktails at HPS.

First time visiting, seemed like a nice sophisticated bar. However during and near the end of our drinks, this was far from true. The staff was extremely rude, due to one of our friends being a bit depressed due to private situations. They assumed he wasn't in a position to hold his drink, because for a while he was holding his face after receiving terrible news. Without any communication they dropped the bill on our table and requested we'd leave their establishment. Even though we explained the situation, all they cared about was his "state", even though we elaborated on a private matter. They even went as far as saying that he'll puke and they have to clean it up and prying into our day, asking what we've been doing, even while the rest of our party gave them no signs of any out of order behaviour. No biased opinion, their cocktails are decent for what they are. But they are nowhere near worth the price what they're asking for. When leaving we also noticed a dog walking around the establishment, near the open bar, which seems like a health code violation. For a place claiming to be a speakeasy bar, their service and drinks, do not reflect the quality you'd expect , especially not with these prices.

I felt unsafe at this place at all as a woman. I was here with a few friend and 1 of our friends is autistic and does not say a lot. Even though he is autistic they gave us the bill to pay. When we asked why, they said he (the autistic guy) looked weird and his eyes looked like he might puke. When we clarified that he would not and told the manager that it was just autism they answered with “ but they might” so you guys might as well. When we asked for clarification they said they would not go into that. The bartender got angry and say girls should not be dressed in this way anyhow. I feel very hurt and not respected at all. As a female I would not go here because I felt unsafe

Honestly I haven’t found more rude staff ever in my life!!! Even tho I was just resting and regularly sipping my drink I got forced out with getting the bill in my face!!! When we tried to reason. We got like hey you reserved for 5 but you were with 6… problem is we never were there with 6. I and used to working with a lot of people but these guys have a hard time acting normal. Oh yeah on a side note they also allow dogs inside any actual place would know this isn’t allowed. But honestly just avoid this place

This is one of the best, if not the best, cocktail bar experiences I've ever had. I sat at the bar and got a real treat of an evening. The quality of and originality of the drinks and the professionalism and friendliness of the staff is a joy. Can't wait to come back.

Superb bar selling a great range of imaginative and delicious cocktails. The drinks here were like nothing I've tasted. Amazing. Best to phone in advance as it gets busy. We were lucky we dropped in and found places but people were turned away while we were there as there was no room. Definitely at this place to your 'to do' list

Very cozy bar with couches up stairs. Easily the best martini in the city. Super friendly, and prompt service. It’s a bit small so you may have to wait if it’s busy, and the prices are high for the city but coming from a city that also has high prices, this seems inline with the quality they provide. Worth every penny and would visit again.

Such a cool place! This speakeasy has one of the best bartenders I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Artistic, friendly, and never let our glasses go empty. An incredible experience.

Great cocktail bar with very friendly staff. They had these equations written on the walls and said we'd get free shots if we figured out where even one of them is from (mostly TV shows/films). My friend got most of them that they ended up giving us multiple free rounds. Also said it was the first time somebody got that many in the 5 years they've been working there, so we had a good chat about it. Here's a photo of the Nerd-Legend :)

This is exactly what a cocktail bar should be. Small vibe, so not noisy and gives an “exclusive” feel. They limit the age of patrons to 21, which is really nice. Skilled bartending. Just try something on their menu and if it sounds good, it is good.

Great cocktail experience with superb service. A good variety of cocktails with good alcohol forward flavours. A little bit on. The expensive side but totally worth it. We arrived soon after they opened and sure it filled up quite quick. So either book in advance or arrive early as a pre dinner.

Great service, very personal. The bartender was really nice to talk to. Instead of choosing your own drink, I would recommend telling the bartender what you like and let him choose what to make you, you probably won't be disappointed. The atmosphere and design is very intimate and cosy. Good bar for date nights.

Had a group of four so we were able to try the entire menu. Which all of it quite delicious. The staff is very friendly and fun to interact with.

Fantastic speakeasy. We had every drink on the menu between the four of us. Almost all were great, a few were slightly less great based on personal preference. A+, would recommend.

This place is POPing… and no I’m not just saying that because of the popcorn they give you with your drinks. Staff was incredible answering questions about their menu and making excellent suggestions. The name of the bar is quite fitting for how much of a hidden gem this bar is! For the reviews who mention outdoor seating… they must not have had the opportunity to enjoy the drinks, since this bar doesn’t even offer outdoor seating. How can you hate when you can’t even get in? I would suggest making a reservation ahead of time if you plan on coming with a large group or after 9pm. Would come again, as a first timer in Amsterdam I felt extremely welcomed. As for the ICE ICE babies… only certain drinks contained ice and they were compensated with larger glasses so you could enjoy your drink. Most of the drinks ordered had chilled glasses and no ice to maximize the strength and taste of the cocktail. Come for a great time with great music and ambience.

Very good music and excellent service. The only issue being the drinks themselves: average and wayyy too expensive. Drinks with ice have way too much ice. We had expected something a bit more original for the price.

The cocktails here are sublime and the atmosphere is cozy. It's a small place so you might need to be a little lucky to get a table. The service was very attentive and friendly and i will definitely be going back

HPS, is a cocktail bar that lives up to its name. When you enter the bar on the first floor, it doesn't look like much, but if you go up a few stairs, you'll find yourself in a quite different environment. If you're planning a special night out, it's better to reserve a table because the little dining area is usually buzzing and jam-packed to the gills. I would recommend trying out their signature drinks like the Voodoo Child and the Vieux Carré which has been handcrafted to perfection!

Really cool venue with the most beautiful cocktails. Stumbled across this bar on a Saturday evening and whilst they were busy, they still managed to find us a table. Cocktails were amazing and the staff were lovely and really attentive. Would definitely recommend and will be revisiting when in the area again

Excelente pequeño rincón dedicado a cócteles artesanales perfectamente ejecutados. Gran menú de cócteles diversos, desde inventivos hasta clásicos y, si recuerdo correctamente, una especialización en licores de hierbas como Amaros. El barman se dedica a su oficio y es muy amable. Tuvimos la suerte de conseguir una mesa para dos cuando llegamos justo antes de lo que parecía ser la prisa de la noche. Definitivamente regresaría y muy recomendable para entusiastas y conocedores de cócteles artesanales.
