The most expensive mediocrity of my life.

Lovely bar setting with great lighting, music and atmosphere. Friendly and welcoming staff. The cocktails themselves were very creative conceptually and beautifully presented. I picked badly but my husband loved his! Definitely need to book - others without a reservation were being turned away.

I came here without a reservation, and the staff member at the door told us to wait about half an hour and then come back for a table. I specifically asked whether we needed to make a reservation, because I didn’t want to return and find out there still wouldn’t be a table available. He told us it wasn’t necessary. We came back half an hour later, but a different staff member opened the door and told us we would need to wait another half an hour. When we explained that we had already waited 30 minutes based on what the first staff member told us, he simply repeated that the table still wasn’t ready and that we should wait again, without acknowledging the situation or offering an apology. I work in the hospitality industry myself, and I understand that mistakes can happen. However, not acknowledging a mistake or showing basic courtesy toward customers is disappointing. Because of how this was handled, they lost a potential customer. With the bar open until 3 a.m., I came in ready to stay, relax, and spend money with business partners. The dismissive response made it an easy decision to take my business elsewhere

Absolutely great bar, the drinks are all made to an exceptionally high quality. All of the staff tonight were very friendly, knowledgable on the menu, and took pride in their work. The menu is so creative, alternatively the speak easy will help you find a drink you would like. A must visit! Ps - the bar has no sign, press the bell and someone will let you in!

Honestly was so excited when we sat down and looked at the menu in here. Extremely pricey but the concept is good so we were willing to pay. Our booking was for 10pm, we arrived early and were told it wasn’t a problem, there were plenty seats when we sat down. We chose a booth and proceeded to watch the two guys sat at the bar get two rounds of drinks in before anyone even took our order. We had been sat 45 minutes before we got our first drink. On a Saturday night I would say this is excusable but this was a Monday evening. Shocking service, would not recommend at 17-20 euros a cocktail you would expect decent service

The atmosphere of the place was nice and felt very welcoming. Honestly I felt a bit upset, considering I had reserved in advance and also added to the reservation note that it’s my birthday at 00.00. Our reservation time had then ended and we were asked to pay (discrite, not uncomfortable but a bit upsetting on a birthday). I don't expect freebies, but a ‘congratulations’ would’ve been nice, considering 2 cocktails were 40 Euros.

Had a fantastic evening at Door 74 yesterday night. The cocktails were amazing, the atmosphere very special and the staff wonderful. Although we had some last minute changes, the staff made everything so smooth and professional, and so incredibly friendly. We loved every bit of the evening! To be continued!

Came here after researching bars in Amsterdam, dropped by alone on a Thursday evening. Giulia opened the door and told me it's full, to come in 30-60 min back, she might have a seat. Came back, seat was empty and I had an amazing drink accompanied by the best staff (Thanks again Giulia!). Decided to drop by the next day to have another 2 drinks. That day, Tim was also there who was super nice. Him and Giulia made my nights in Amsterdam! Make sure to have a reservation, otherwise you might need to wait in queue.

I would put this a must-do when visiting. Great atmosphere and experience, along with awesome cocktail menu that will take you on a journey.

One of the best cocktail bars i’ve ever seen, Tim is absolutely fantastic and so knowledgeable and informative about their bespoke menu — Ruby Stone and their take on an Old fashioned with a caramelised walnut were superb Cosy decor and even better service

An intimate, speakeasy-style bar (hidden) and super elegant for an adult crowd, with a team of charming and professional bartenders. Excellent cocktails with special ingredients and combinations! The bar has no signage with a name (on purpose) - and it's easy to miss it... It is recommended to book a place in advance.

A delicious cocktail experience in a mysterious ambiance.

This cocktail bar exudes class without being aloof. Every cocktail is crafted with precision; my whiskey sour had perfect foam, fresh citrus notes, and a smooth finish. The service is professional, smiling, and attentive. The music is subtle yet atmospheric. Prices are a bit higher, but that reflects the quality. You sense that craftsmanship takes precedence over show here.

It's a speakeasy bar, easily to miss it. Ring the bell once you find the door, and the staff will come out to greet. Had better make a reservation before heading as it's a popular bar! Staff are friendly. Although we need to share table with other customers, the vibe is still cozy and comfortable. They provide a wide range of cocktails, all are special. I like their menu! Clearly describe the drink and its price. Really love Aztec Arcade, the coconut rum and umeboshi are made to ice cube, so the flavor are gradually merged into the tequila. Very creative!

A very cool location with exceptional cocktails. The concept is that it's designed in the style of a speakeasy, so you have to search for the door. Make a reservation! It's difficult to get in without one. The service is very qualified and friendly. Ask for advice and try new flavors. There are variations here that you won't find anywhere else. In my opinion, it's rightfully been voted one of the top 50 cocktail bars in the world several times.

From the outside, it looks like a secret door, but once inside, the decor is very pleasant, and I think that's the main reason it's so popular. I don't think I'll go back; I wouldn't say it was a bad experience, but I don't have any reason to take it back. The cocktails are unique, but they're not the kind that will make you want to have them again and again.

Our server was so kind, knowledgable, and pleasant. The drinks were amazing and the fellow clientele had a good time. We randomly celebrated someone’s birthday.

I would definitely only order the cocktails on the menu. I ordered a classic pornstar martini, and it was simply not good and lacked passion fruit. My partner ordered an old-fashioned classic, and they charged more for that than the more luxurious version on the menu. A bit of a shame, overhyped.

Speakeasy/cocktail bar we had looked up. Though the cocktail menu was great and the drinks were good (my food rating is for the drinks) - would say the atmosphere and vibe were not great. Vert busy but w mostly older tourists, place was cooking hot w no a/c. We left after one drink. There are better spots in Amsterdam - would go elsewhere.

Amazing experience. The cocktails were some of the best I’ve had in my life! Our waiter was incredible as well and to be honest he saved the night for us. We will definitely be back.

A failure in delivering the speakeasy experience!! I had planned a special evening here with my girlfriend and my parents while visiting Amsterdam. Having even checked the place out in advance and enjoyed a couple of drinks myself, I was confident this would be the perfect spot to celebrate. Unfortunately, the Sunday evening we visited was nothing short of a disaster and I’m not exaggerating. The music was far too loud, which only encouraged the guests to shout over it and completely killing any hope of conversation. The real issue, however, was the group of 7 (eventually 10) grown men in one booth who were just yelling, laughing, and behaving more like a teenage girl house party than adult guests at a speakeasy bar. They were standing up, blocking staff with their drinks, and making it impossible for anyone nearby to enjoy the space. People at the table around us were also visibly uncomfortable, eyes were rolling, and several looked like they couldn’t wait to leave. And who could blame them? Here’s the problem: THE STAFF DID NOTHING. Not a word to the table, no effort to manage the noise or restore the vibe. That’s not just disappointing, it’s a complete misunderstanding of what a speakeasy is meant to be. Let me remind you that the term 'speakeasy' refers to the need to speak quietly in and about the secret bars to avoid attracting attention from law enforcement during Prohibition, keep quite. That subtle and intimate atmosphere is the entire charm and why speakeasies are my favorite kind of bar to visit and search for around the world. Sadly, my parents asked to leave before we could enjoy a second round of drinks, and I think we missed out on what I otherwise feel like are some well-balanced and interesting cocktails. An awful way to end a celebration I’d carefully planned! I feel like it’s not my place to correct other guests, that would only create more tension and ruin the mood. That responsibility lies completely with the staff, and on this occasion, they truly failed their guests and the spirit of the bar. (A rooftop or a proper hotel lobby bar would have never excepted this.) A note to fellow guests: I know it was sunday Pride weekend, and I completely understand the celebratory mood. But if you're looking for a party, go to a pub or the next club down the street. Acceptance and tolerance is a two-way street and respect is earned not given.

Quite literally the best cocktail I’ve ever had. Not sure the name but I want to say it was the blackbeards treasure drink. The menu has a cool theme and this place has the perfect atmosphere for a romantic evening. Drinks are quite expensive but we thought it was worth it.

Small and intimate speakeasy bar. Once you find the door you ring the bell to be let in! Staff very friendly and talked us through the menu. A wide range of speciality cocktails available. I do prefer to see the glasses on the menu as it’s very hard to tell sometimes whether you are getting a long or short cocktail. I am not a fan of long drinks full of ice. Great to try new cocktails and we had a couple each. Seating and tables in the booths could do with a revamp and when I went to the toilet my shoes were sticking to the floor! Nice experience though.

Pretentious. This venue attempts to create an air of exclusivity with its "secret entrance", but the reality doesn't quite live up to the hype. Once inside, you'll find a place that feels worn and neglected, with outdated, damaged furniture. As for the cocktails, while the prices are shockingly high, the drinks themselves are underwhelming at best. The sizes of some drinks are so ridiculously tiny, with just two or three small sips, that it makes me wonder if you could still sensibly label this a cocktail. On a postive note, the staff wasn't unfriendly. As a local, I can confidently say that basically ANY place in Amsterdam is a better place to get cocktails than this one.

A speakeasy style bar that oozes class. You have to try and find the entrance (look for a queue of people is the only hint I’ll give) and then follow the host through the curtains to the sheik classy bar. The vibe is hip and cool, the drinks sublime and the service is 5 star.

Fantastic place - so pleased I booked it in advance for our short trip to Amsterdam. World-class cocktail bar and good chat from bartenders (We sat at the bar) and excellent drinks. Had two off the signature menu and a Naked & Famous to end the evening.

This is such a gem! We absolutely loved the cocktails, they were delightfully innovative and intricate, and the presentation was brilliant.

One of the few places that makes a difference from the moment you write to make a reservation. You already feel the warmth before you even arrive. Once there, a mysterious door on a busy, bustling street, almost unnoticed, with a bell you have to ring as if you were visiting a friend, greets you with your bartender-host. The lights, the music, the bartending team—all geniuses. A spectacular place that has become one of my favorites in the world (and I've been to many places). I hope to return to Door 74 on my next visit to wonderful Amsterdam.

Hidden away without a sign, Door 74 feels like a genuine secret in Amsterdam. The cosy, dimly lit atmosphere is really inviting. The bartenders are true professionals and the menu features unique, carefully made cocktails. I’d recommend the Manila Mirage—it’s superb. Perfect spot if you’re after something a bit different.

Found this via TikTok and really wanted to go. It was busy and so we had to stand and drink which was fine. A reservation probably is better. The drinks were ok. For the price, I felt they were expensive and the quantity wasn’t that much.

Great spot recommended by a Dutch friend. Nice cocktails and speakeasy vibe with a local feel. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic cocktails, wonderful service, friendly staff. A must-visit in Amsterdam! One note: bar seats are uncomfortable! No where for your knees, no place to rest your feet. Hopefully they will get better bar seating during the renovation.

This is an overrated place, I don't understand why there are so many good reviews. The aesthetics of the speakeasy bar here is just the front door with no signage. The atmosphere is like a massage parlor. Very loud r&b music from the two thousand's. Cocktails are not bad, but not good either, and highly overpriced for what we got. My friends and I came for an unusual experience of speakeasy bar, but we wanted to leave right away without ordering anything. In the men's restroom, the door handle fell right into my friend's hand. That's the experience we had, I don't recommend it.

Making a reservation online was seamless. We had a pleasant walk to Door 74. The staff was excellent at explaining everything and answering questions showing a general interest in helping us select the right cocktail.

I am quite fond of Speakeasy Bars and around europe‘s capitals there are a bunch of establishements that actually stand for décent gastronomical standards and love and dedication for barkeeping craft. This bar unfortunately is not one of them. Hygiene and hospitality Standards are lacking. We were quite disappointed.

My second time here. Cocktails and all was so good. But there was an internet problem so music went off for like an hour. We think you could download and save your music for moments like this because this effects the ambience.

Very nice place. A truly old school speak-easy bar for lovers of real bars that will take you back to old decades. Their cocktails were all very good. Some of the best old fashioneds we've ever had in our lives. I must emphasize that the staff was one of the best we've ever seen.

Excellent concept and definitely hidden and a real charming welcome when you find the right door! Staff were en pointe, friendly, knew their stuff and looked after us. We were seated at the end near the toilets which wasn't the best location in the venue. The menu book was beautiful but the cocktails didn't live up to expectations. Boring glassware, similar tastes across the cocktails we tried, and overly expensive for average cocktails. However, the snacks were excellent. I have tried speak easy concepts in different places and there are much better versions of this out there. We stayed for 2 drinks each but 1 would have been enough, to see the concept and then leave to get better value, and drinks, elsewhere. A bit disappointed overall.

Very nice “secret bar”. The atmosphere is cool, small, cosy, classic. Music as well. The service is very kind! The drinks aren’t outstanding tbh but the rest compensates.

The actual idea of this speak easy is so perfect. The hidden door, the word of mouth, you really feel like it's a true speak easy. Once inside, Julie was amazing and communicative about the menu. The cocktails were delicious and all of the servers were lovely. Highly suggest making a reservation or showing up to the door early to make one for later.

The staff were welcoming and attentive. The atmosphere is warm. The drinks were so unique and delicious. I will definitely come back when I am in Amsterdam and I highly recommend you come.

Door 74 has a wonderfully charming and intimate atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed evening. I tried their Old Fashioned Hustle, and it was great! Highly recommended for a top-notch cocktail experience!

The Aztec Arcade is so yummy and I don't like sugar nor alcohol that much but the cocktails here are really good. Golden Gize was also good - I didn't like that much the Red "something" but it's a taste exploration at its best :)

We previously left a glowing review for Door 74 after several wonderful visits—great cocktails, friendly staff, and a cool, intimate vibe. Sadly, after what happened on our most recent visit, we can no longer recommend it. We stopped by again, as we had many times over the past few weeks, only to be told the bar was full and to come back in 30 minutes. We waited across the street and returned after just 15 minutes, when we saw several people leave. Despite recognizing us, the doorman dismissed us entirely and let two young women—who had just arrived—walk in ahead of us without question. We were treated as if we were invisible. It was incredibly disappointing to be so blatantly passed over in favor of younger, more “marketable” guests, especially after being loyal patrons. What was once a favorite spot now feels superficial and unwelcoming. If you’re under 30 and conventionally attractive, you’ll likely have a great time here. But if you’re not, don’t expect the same level of respect. We won’t be back.

THE PERFECT BALANCE. Just like a good cocktail, Door 74 offers the perfect balance all around: atmosphere, service and product work together harmoniously - the same way rum, lime and sugar do in a Daiquiri. Speakeasy entrance in a busy area, the vibe can suit either a first date, drinks with friends, or a solo-evening when you just want to have a perfectly balanced cocktail, complain about your rough day at work, crack a joke with the bartenders, buy a shot for strangers, go home and write a review. Door 74 is just like a classic cocktail: you don't need to change anything, it works the way it is. That's what makes it a classic. Go and see.
