I chose this place blindly to take my friends for a night out, we all loved it! Great ambiance, great food and drinks + great service. Haven’t seen a place thats is all around a 5 ⭐️in Amsterdam until tonight! I will also add that I have a pornstar martini obsession and theirs is amazing. Praise for Viviana for taking such good care of us and being extremely friendly! We will definitely be back!

I went to Zum Barbarossa to girl’s ou night, and it ended up being one of the best places I’ve been to in Amsterdam. The drinks were great, the food was delicious, and the vibe was just perfect. And a big shoutout to Viviana, she made the night even better with her amazing service!

We had privately rented the spot for a Christmas dinner/drinks, but unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. The food portions were extremely small. There was clearly not enough food for the group, and we were forced to share very small portions between multiple people, which is unacceptable for a private event that was paid for in advance. On top of that, the venue suddenly decided to close one hour earlier than their normal Friday opening hours, without proper notice. Because of this unexpected early closure, we were unable to meet the agreed bar minimum. As a result, we were charged an additional €1,000, which we feel is completely unfair given that the shortened opening time was their decision, not ours. We also seriously question the accuracy of the shared bill they provided afterward. For example, we ordered around 30 tequila shots for the entire group, which do not appear on the invoice they sent, despite using this invoice to claim that we did not reach the bar minimum. Overall the value for money was far below expectations. We would not recommend this venue for private events.

Closing down an hour earlier during the christmas period when it’s absolutely packed. Shamefull.

Hosted a group diner for christmass here, we chose a set menu but we had to share 3 mini croquets with 7/8 people a table. The main course was cold mashdpatato with dry stew, drinks took for ever and no manager in sight to solve tings out. Cash payments where not included in the bill so we had to pay location fee of 1K extra. Nice venue, shit service

Drinks took an extremely long time to arrive and when problems came up, there was no manager to be found. To make matters worse, cash payments were excluded from the final bill, which resulted in an additional €1,000 location fee we hadn’t anticipated. A nice-looking venue, but unfortunately paired with very poor service.

Great drinks, cool atmosphere and awesome service

First and foremost, FIRST and foremost I came here for NYE mind you the tickets were sold out on the website - so you would already expect for it to be packed the whole night. However upon arrival receive a sparkling wine which was awful cheap wine that gave my partner a headache. After an hour in to see if more people would come as you’d expect…barely anyone showed up. The DJ I’m sorry but he was playing laser beam sound effects the whole night was just awful, like I honestly couldn’t believe it. It felt being scammed when it should’ve been free entry, what a joke.

Spent New Year's Eve here and it was fantastic. We usually go to The Seafood Bar, but this was our first time at Zum Barbarossa and we really enjoyed it. Delicious cocktails, a great atmosphere, and really good service. Thanks to Timo and his colleagues for their hospitality. Absolutely recommended! 🍸🥂

We had a fantastic evening; the drinks were delicious, and there was a great atmosphere. We sat at the bar and received fantastic service from the bar staff (especially the handsome bartender with the tattoos on his neck). I just want to say that it would be nice if you could reserve a table even if you don't fish.

Great atmosphere!! Love how everything is always spot on with how fast the drink are done! The baristas talk with you and try to even understand how the cocktails are made, especially Casper showed us step by step how a perfect Moscow mule is made!!!

We stumbled upon this speakeasy completely by accident, and it ended up being one of the nicest surprises of our trip. Even without a reservation, we were welcomed in right away. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, and the drinks were genuinely delicious. The atmosphere was cozy, intimate, and with that perfect speakeasy charm. My only piece of feedback is about the entrance. As soon as the door opens automatically, there’s a very steep staircase leading down. It caught me off guard, and I almost slipped, so just a heads-up for anyone visiting for the first time. Overall, a wonderful experience. Would definitely come back!

Honestly I was reluctant on going, (baller on a budget) but it was worth every penny! Such an incredible atmosphere and the speakeasy vibes are off the charts. This is a hidden gem 💎 If I wasn't recommended by a local I would've never found this spot, and it was a highlight of my trip! Not a tourist trap, so the drinks are fairly priced for some immaculate cocktails! The food looked fantastic but I didn't have the privilege of trying it.

Nice but not mind-blowing. The atmosphere is wonderful, the place super beautiful and just interesting to be in. However, cocktail list is rather basic. I had spicy rose paloma (tasty!) and my partner gin&tonic (pricing was misleading cause in the menu it’s €10 but when you pay they add extra €2.5 for tonic). Also the paying machine didn’t have an option to skip the tip.

While we absolutely loved the food and drinks, the overall experience was disappointing given the level of service and attitude. We had booked a table for three several weeks in advance, yet upon arrival we were first asked to wait, and then shown to a table with only two chairs. When I asked about the third, the waiter told us to wait — and five minutes later brought over a small pouffe instead of a proper chair. Fortunately, a guest at a nearby table kindly offered one of his spare chairs. About ten minutes later, we were asked to stand up so the staff could reposition our table to make other guests “feel more comfortable.” It felt strange and quite unprofessional, especially considering the reservation was made well in advance and the venue’s premium positioning.

What a trap ! Below par cocktails and such a rip off tourist trap. We were a group of 7. Caveat I paid 40 euros for one drink ! The first penicillin (a cocktail on their menu) tasted Smokey even though they are supposed to be made with non Smokey whiskeys (woodford reserve and aberfeldy). They never informed us that they did not have aberfeldy and had used a Smokey whisky (talisker). So for the next round I ordered a double shot of aberfeldy ( thinking it will be the same price as the cocktail or less) When we get the bill the price for the double shot of whisky is 40 euros. When questioned the bartender claims oh the cocktail was made with laphroaig and I gave you talisker. Anyways no double shot of talisker should cost 40 euros. Beware. It is a trap

I wouldn’t go back, to be honest. I had high hopes since this place had a decent rating, but I was really disappointed overall. We ordered the P-Star Martini carafe — it was listed at 75 euros, so we expected proper service, but instead, we had to make and pour the drinks ourselves at the table. It’s not like it offered any value either; the carafe supposedly serves five glasses, but each one was barely half full. If we’d ordered individual martinis, they would have been filled to the brim. On top of that, the place had a strange smell, and our table was sticky when we arrived — which was especially disappointing since we had an early reservation and were the first ones there. The service didn’t match the cozy atmosphere they seem to be going for. Overall, a pretty underwhelming experience.

On point rating 3.7 Tourist trap format from the sea food bar upstairs (which I like) created this speak easy concept downstairs. I just came from Rome and had Negroni every day for aperitivo, so I started with a Negroni. The Negroni is absolute cocktails style and I think 3*25ml shots. After that we ordered gin tonic which is 12 euro I found the shot size so little so I asked what the shot size is Kim the waiter said 45ml. Just to check because (see smallest filled glass picture) I ordered a separate shot of gin. The glasses do not compare and after getting the bill we found out the gin tonic is 12 euro but a shot is 10. What I think is they use 25ml shot standard. If you break up the price this does not add up and in a way you’re being fooled. A GT comes with 25ml but costs 12 euro but if you order a double shot it costs 10euro so if a single shot is 5 you pay 7! Euro for a tonic. Overall not my tip to go to Things to improve: - sewer smell - fair prices - 50ml shot in gin and tonic

I had high expectations, but upon entering, I nearly broke my neck going down the stairs. The atmosphere was okay, but the price-quality ratio was way below par. It also smelled of sewage. We decided not to have dinner after drinks, but instead just ordered some snacks, which weren't worth the price. Not what you expect with good reviews. I won't be back, unfortunately.

This is one of the best Speakeasy experiences I have ever had. The staff is fantastic and they do a great job of keeping to the authentic experience. Ask for Casper, he is by far the best bartender and makes great drinks with better conversation! . Must try when in Amsterdam!

I had a 9:30 reservation that I was on time for. They told me the kitchen closes at 9:45pm when I arrived (it says 10pm on their website). I made them aware we wanted to order food and they told me they would help us to put our order in asap. I had to call them over to our table at 9:45 to put in our food order since they were not coming over. They assured me all was good and our appetizer eventually came. Fast forward 1 hour later at 10:45 they come over to our table and tell us there was a “problem in their system and the kitchen closed and will not make our dinner”. I am now STARVING. The fact that we were informed an hour later when we were already impatiently and hungrily waiting for our food is unacceptable. At 10:45 our dinner options are limited as most nice restaurants are closed / not serving food and we only have a couple nights to spend in Amsterdam. A night wasted waiting for food. Extremely disappointing.

If you’re looking for a professional, relaxed, and sexy vibe for a hidden bar in Amsterdam, this is the spot. Staff are all attentive and wonderful. Bartenders (shoutout Casper) are fast and insightful. 10/10 recommend.

The bar/restaurant has a nice concept: you first ring the bell to enter and then go down the stairs to the main room. Inside, you’ll find both a bar and a restaurant where you can enjoy great cocktails and some food. The cocktails and drinks were excellent, and the atmosphere felt romantic and a bit mysterious. The food we had was fresh and delicious, although the menu didn’t offer many options. Overall, the place is definitely worth checking out if you’d like to have a good time and escape from the outside world.

Since the first time I’ve been through this venue i felt so welcomed, the bar staff is something I never experienced before ‘Casper’ and ‘Johnny ’ (I hope im spelling it right) they were everything that me and my partner were looking for, so professional and helpful. They deserve all the effort about our experience. Every time we come back to Amsterdam this will be our first stop for sure!!! Congratulations to this two guys! Amazing service

I recently dined at Zum Barbarossa in Amsterdam, and it was a wonderful experience. The service was excellent—friendly, fast, and attentive to the guests. The food was delicious and definitely worth it. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere. Unfortunately, I arrived a bit early and missed the DJ, which was a shame. But that doesn't change the fact that I definitely recommend this restaurant to others. In the early evening, there's a calm, relaxed atmosphere. You can enjoy your food or drinks undisturbed, without it being too crowded or noisy. The service also contributes to this: friendly and unobtrusive, making you feel truly welcome. ♥️

It was excellent. The cocktails were amazing, price is reasonable. The entrance is discreet, seems mysterious and cool, something different. The vibes inside are fancy and cozy. Red light colors inside which make the ambiance look very nice. House music. The staff was great as well, Viviana and Casper, and the Portuguese, they were all amazing. We will come back for sure! 👏🏻❤️

Amazing cocktail bar with a truly authentic vibe! I visited the bar with my sisters and it was packed with people having a great time. The manager gives personal attention to both guests and staff, which creates such a welcoming atmosphere. Casper is a star! His cocktails are unique and delicious, and he even made me a spicy mocktail on request that went beyond my expectations. Highly recommend Zum Barbarossa for anyone looking for a place with character and great drinks!
