The food is super good! Edit: The service needs improvement. We normally order by phone because we would prefer to avoid waiting. Nevertheless even with ordering by phone when we arrive at the shop is when they start doing our request.. that’s the opposite of the goal.

To start with, this place is so filthy that you instantly lose your appetite. There are bugs and ants visible in front of the entrance. Furthermore, the staff is very unfriendly; you can tell from everything that they are completely unattuned to people. By the way, they don't know anything about cooking either; the food is disgusting, reheated, and unsalted. Give it a wide berth! – Martin

Visited these new owners for the 1st time, but it will also be the last. The cold platter is really NOT what you are used to; not worth repeating for us.

Unfortunately, I felt nauseous all night from the overly fatty whipped cream.

I ate at Cafetaria Bráánd for the first time today. After reading the reviews, I really wanted to post something myself. People forget that there is a new owner with a new business name in a building where the ice cream specialist was located 30 years ago. Don't cling to the old ways, which no longer exist and won't be coming back. I can report that the food tasted good! I actually noticed that the frikandel is full of flavor and not bland. They have kept the famous Valencia in the assortment; it tasted perfect, there is nothing wrong with it. The new owners are friendly, spontaneous, and honest. Until next time!

Today we got a cold platter for 4 people. It tasted good. But the price didn't taste good. With the previous owner, we paid 16.50 euros for 3 people, and today 30.00 euros for 4 people. This was the last time for us there!!!

Unfortunately, my visit to this place was very disappointing. The service is particularly unfriendly, especially an older lady who behaved very surly and rudely, as if she worked there reluctantly. The food also leaves much to be desired – tasteless, uninteresting, and far below expectations. The menu is limited and not at all special. Furthermore, the prices are much too high in relation to the quality of the food. All in all, I do not recommend this place. It is a pity that it is not possible to give less than one star.

I've been coming here for years for the well-known Valencia ice cream. Normally the ice cream would fill you up, but now it's just a tiny scoop that really had no taste. The price has stayed the same, but the Valencia itself has become three times smaller. Very disappointing! Time to look for another place to score a nice big Valencia.

The fries were a bowl of reheated crusts, the salad with spoiled salmon.

Update: March 2026. The ice cream tastes much better already, and I can only say that the lady with the scoop was very friendly. We're heading in the right direction again! Because how wonderful would it be if the ice cream specialist stayed for many generations to come. 4 stars because it's a shame the name "Ice Cream Specialist" has been lost.... ________________________ There's now a new owner who hasn't yet mastered the old taste. I hope for improvement and I wish them well so that the old ice cream specialist customers from all over the region keep coming back. I'll try again soon. If it's still as good as it used to be, I'll update my review.

Unfortunately, with the name change, the real Valencia is no longer available. You now get a very thin layer of milk chocolate with a small number of nuts you can count, instead of a thick, tooth-grinding blob of real chocolate with nuts. It's also now a milkshake instead of a milkshake. Tried it a second time, unfortunately, and there was no improvement. So, no more Braand for us.

Got two milkshakes, a small and a medium, for €8. 😳 If they were even drinkable, they were so disgusting that I got sick from them🤢. Everything was filthy inside, the counter, etc. We'll never go there again!!!! We don't recommend it either!!!!

We went back for the famous Valencia ice cream. Well, never again, the flavor was nowhere to be found. The flavor was completely gone. The staff is simply too unstable to run this place.

My wife and I often get food here. They have delicious bacon burnout. They also have some tasty snacks. The portions are also generous and tasty.

Cold dishes must be ordered in advance. This wasn't the case before.

The fries were rock hard, the satay sauce was absolutely disgusting, and the viandel tasted stale. A waste of money. I'll just go back to Smullerij from now on.

The ice cream specialist is known in Tilburg for its delicious ice cream, especially the Valencia. I got a Valencia today after a long time, and it was absolutely terrible. The Valencia was more than halved, there were no nuts left in the whipped cream in the Hoorn, and a meager scoop of ice cream. It was much better under the previous owner, and I think the new owners need to learn from the old one how to make it. Hopefully, it changes, otherwise they'll lose a lot of customers. It doesn't really deserve a star.

We used to come here for salads 35-40 years ago. We went back last year, and the Chinese still had the same recipe; nothing has changed. Delicious, and fond memories. Went again last week, but now it's gone. Such a shame! No more flavor, no deviled eggs on top... There were also people in the store back then who had been waiting 45 minutes for a meatball... Too bad, it was their last time...

We had delicious fried fries with becon and cheese sauce, which tasted wonderful with an XXL friekandel. A huge frikandel, but it was delicious. Thanks, Cafetaria Braand.

This is now Cafetaria Brááánd. I used to love coming here when it was still the Ijsspecialist (Ice Cream Specialist). I've been here twice now and will never go back. What a terrible place it has become. The stew was very thin and barely had any flavor. Last night I tried it again with three others, and it was truly awful again. We waited almost an hour for four portions of fries and three special meatballs, which were actually just bear bites and one Mexicano. We went to ask for an explanation ourselves after waiting 45 minutes. They didn't even say a word to us about why it was taking so long, even though others who came later were leaving with their orders. At one point, we even smelled something burning. It turned out they had burnt our meatballs. But they didn't even come over to say, "Sorry, something went wrong with your order, it's taking a bit longer." Or offer us a drink while we waited as compensation. Almost an hour later, we finally had dinner. Fries with a meager amount of sauce. And then the meatballs and onion pieces weren't even cooked through. Now, all food poisoning/infection-related complaints. The previous owners were MUCH better! You won't see me here again.

The fries were hard, there was no special sauce with my fries, the stewed meat tasted of garlic and other spices, the frikandellen tasted like rotten chicken, the bani slices tasted like cardboard, they forgot to include everything and everything was half cold, what a great start, let me put it that way, for this new place.

1x was fine, even 10 min early. Ordered again today, not delivered at the agreed time, you call: it is only being prepared now, at the time it should actually be delivered. We placed this order an hour and a half in advance; I think something is really going totally wrong with the planning!

Nice chip shop with friendly staff. The way they greet me here always makes me happy! It's nice how products such as the croquettes are made themselves. Very tasty!

Not a shadow of the older owners left. Meatball special was not hot. Given back. And new ones requested. Owner was taking away order. Staff were fiddling with phone calls and had no contact with customers at all. Children screaming in the kitchen. And had to pay 330 because I had to pay for my food at a dirty table, which was already very expensive. No packing tax, just pay because you want to eat quickly at a table. Food returned completed the drama. The croquette ordered was homemade and looked unsightly. Dirty not recommended to go there. I no longer took the 2 extra Russian eggs with me. Paid, what a huge dirty mess. What a fantastic place this once was with such quality. Too bad the name makes you suspect that nothing has changed. Dear owner, go make babipangang or nasi. But stop this deception and degradation.

Fries and fries way too hard!! I like hard fries but not THAT much!! The whole bucket of fries was sooooo hard that it wasn't tasty!! It is Bij Lange no longer the ice specialist of the past!! Ordered more than €51 and didn't even eat well! One time for us!!

I came for fries, saw customers come in later and order and leave earlier. Waited a very long time, while fries were ready, price was absurd and tasted like nothing. You won't see me there again. This is the very first time I have ever left a review, since the service was so poor and bad I did it

Past glory does not mean a succes now. This place used to be known for great Icecream and nice salads. It is now nothing more then a cafeteria that also sells sushi. The quality is lacking in their products.

Ik was er zo'n 10 jaar geleden voor het laatst geweest maar van die ijsspecialist is nu niets meer over. Het is nu een doorsnee snackbar die ook wat ijs verkoopt zoals eigenlijk elke snackbar doet. Zeer weinig keuze aan ijs dus we zijn maar een andere gaan zoeken. Ni-hao en hao-doe!

Super service. Doen veel voor klant tevredenheid. Prima eten, zelfs als het bezorgd wordt.

Heerlijk ijs. Altijd als we in de buurt zijn pikken we een ijsje mee.
