I've been coming here for ages and it never disappoints. The sushi is always fresh.

Upon arrival, we received a warm welcome and had requested a quiet spot when making our reservation. We got one, and we enjoyed a peaceful meal there. The service was friendly, and the food was excellent. The first three rounds were served very quickly, but the fourth took a good 30 minutes. In retrospect, I wonder if that was a tactic, as we'd already been sitting there for quite a while. We went to the owner/manager to pay. I put down the tablet and jacket number, and he didn't even look at us and asked, "Are you finished?" He didn't ask if everything was to our liking, or anything. He handed us our coats, entered the amount, and pointed to the card reader. He didn't say a word, continued ignoring us, and then went on to clean the tablet's screen. I actually wanted to leave a tip because we'd enjoyed the rest of the evening, but I wasn't even given the opportunity to tip because the amount was already ready for debit. We walked out, confused, unsure why this man was acting so strangely. We came here quite regularly but this was the last time.

As a sushi lover, I can definitely recommend Imono Sushi & Hotpot in Groningen! 🍣 The quality of the sushi is fresh and flavorful, with a nice balance between classic and creative. We had a wonderful meal here! The interior is modern and cozy. Ordering via the tablet was super easy and fast, and everything was on the table in no time. The food itself was truly excellent, everything was delicious. The price-quality ratio is also excellent. We would definitely like to come back again!

To be honest, this was overpriced for the quality of food. The sushi was not good, the fish inside was cold and the rice was not well prepared and seasoned. For the Netherlands this is normal, but compared to real sushi, this was bad. It would be okay if not for the price. The other food was good but more Dutch than Japanese.

IMONO has been my favorite restaurant in Groningen for years. I come here regularly, and every time I'm amazed at how delicious everything is. The quality is consistently top-notch, and the flavors are always spot-on. What makes it even more enjoyable as a regular customer is that new, delicious dishes are constantly appearing on the menu. The food was delicious! We received a friendly welcome at reception, where they even took our coats—a small inconvenience, but it immediately makes the place feel a bit more inviting. Inside, it's cozy, and the staff is super friendly and attentive. There's a huge selection of food, and everything we tried was excellent. At the end, you can create your own dessert, which is really fun. All in all, we had a lovely evening. Definitely recommended if you're in Groningen!

The sushi in this restaurant is delicious. Salmon sushi is my favorite. I also like steak. I often bring my friends there.

Great waiters. We ate late, so the sushi arrived quickly. The seaweed was tough, though. Otherwise, all the fish was delicious.

The sushi was terrible and tasteless. The rice and fish weren't fresh. The tomato soup was also bad. We just left it. We paid for one person. A waste of what should have been a nice evening. It used to be a good restaurant. We won't be back.

The staff is very hospitable and friendly, nothing to complain about. Unfortunately, the sushi was mediocre. Especially noticeable in the quality of the rice (as if it had been sitting for a while). However, meat, fish and other side dishes tasted better. The real disadvantage is the portions. 4 dishes per 15 minutes sounds okay, but you only get 2 sushi pieces per dish and they are also smaller compared to other sushi places. My girlfriend and I had already finished our food after 5 minutes in the first handful of rounds, which made it more of an all you can wait. Very frustrating. So if you really come for an AYCE, I can't recommend it

Had a really bad experience. The chicken satay sticks tasted really bad. The sushi is unimaginably bad. Unfortunately I will definitely not come back here. 40€ for this quality is not normal. The food took a very long time and only half came.

I am someone who loves sushi and therefore regularly visits a sushi and grill restaurant. A day trip to Groningen and found this restaurant via Google. Once we started round 1 we were really shocked by the poorly prepared food. Sushi was bad, tasteless, a really cheap sauce was put over the meat and shrimp, miso soup was also not good. Dumplings were okay in terms of quality. Really such a shame, because we were really hungry and we were very disappointed. We raised this with the service and said that we found it annoying to raise this, because we would not have wanted this either and our evening out would have fallen through in this way. What I mainly cared about was how this was handled. No service. We were then allowed to pay for everything separately and leave, that was her solution. So for a few small snacks from round 1 and drinks we had to pay €55.50, no room for conversation. A cold shower. I would rather not write such a negative review but this time I have to get it off my chest. Just a shame about the evening and the money. Not for us again.

Me and my girlfriend are in love with Imono. We lived in Groningen for a year and we always looked forward to going to Imono again. Now 3 years later this is still our favorite restaurant that we travel half the country to go to. The quality of the food is great, they give you 4 choices per person per round and the staff is very nice. Highly recommended for every person.

Was curious after the many positive reviews! Unfortunately it was very disappointing and I don't think I have eaten worse sushi anywhere. The dishes were okay, but you still come for the sushi... It was clearly not fresh and had little flavor. Furthermore, I found the menu very limited compared to comparable restaurants, and it is also special that you cannot see in advance on the menu what is included and what is not. The service was fast and friendly

Imono is and always will be a delight to visit. The food, service, and atmosphere are truly fantastic. The sushi is very fresh and has a wonderful flavor. The grilled dishes are also highly recommended: very tender meat and a great grilled flavor. The service is very fast and friendly: after ordering, your food is on the table relatively quickly, and empty plates are collected in no time. The restaurant also looks very neat and inviting. A feast for your senses Despite the size of this restaurant, we were seated in a spot that felt cozy and intimate. We certainly had other guests around us, but the arrangement of the tables made it feel completely okay. Thanks to the decoration of the restaurant, we could hear each other without shouting and we were not drowned out by 'neighbours'. The food was clearly fresh, because we sometimes had to wait a while for it. We enjoyed the taste experience; from tender and soft to spicy and firm. The staff this evening were personable and very friendly. Truly a place to remember for your next visit to Groningen.

I love this restaurant. The all you can eat includes a great variety of dishes, they are small, this allows you to taste a lot of options. In the all you can eat you order 4 dishes per person, you need to wait 15 minutes and then you can order another round again. The dessert round is the last one and you select it on paper, rather than a tablet that is used for the regular dishes.

Had sushi + hotpot. It was very tasty, but the hotpot soup was not spicy at all, although it was mildly spicy. Still, the food was good. The cocktails, on the other hand, are not. For that it is better to go one street further to a good cocktail place. Definitely worth repeating.

Very poor service, food does not arrive or arrives very late. Drinks ordered several times do not arrive. Food is good and lots of choice. The staff all speak English and have little or no time. There are much better restaurants in Groningen.

Food was delicious. The service was downright bad. We only got a round of food after more than 1.5 hours and then had to pay 92eu per person for the buffet and a few drinks. I have the feeling that due to the slow service, all snacks were charged extra. Not recommended to eat here.

Had to wait more than 30 minutes to get the first non sushi dishes we ordered, and the sushi took even longer. Non sushi dishes were okay, but this was the worst sushi I have ever had in Groningen. Which is the main reason I go to a sushi place to begin with. The only reason I am not giving it one star is because the waitress was very friendly and apologetic.

Top restaurant! All the food was wonderfully prepared even though it was completely booked! Really nothing to complain about, highly recommended! The staff is also very nice and nothing is too crazy for them.

The food was not what you expected from a sushi restaurant. It was very disappointing, we tried almost everything, but nothing was worth ordering a second time (except fried bananas). It was all substandard, plus the food we ordered several times was inconsistent. Of course I don't know if it can be communicated one to one (we are also parents with young children so we just don't sleep well 😉) But last night we both didn't feel well. Do whatever you want with this information. But in short: Do you want a mediocre evening with disappointing food? Then come to Imono. 😀

The food was fantastic, lots of choice and it was really tasty. Also small portions so you could try many different things. It is a big place, and the music was a bit too soft for our taste, so you could hear your neighbors well. But definitely recommended!

We had dinner with 4 people and paid 185 euros without drinks on a Saturday evening. Tablets worked poorly and food took a very long time to arrive. Sometimes as long as 30 minutes before the first round was delivered. Food was dry, and some dishes had no sauce. For example, squid rings with just a few carrot shavings. The quantity per round was also meager, 1 satay skewer or 1 sushi per time. For us it was not worth the money.

Ate with 7 people, many hotpot products arrived half frozen on the table. My pineapple on my pinacolada was also frozen. This is a bit of a shame.

Imono looks nice on the inside and you can sit comfortably there. The waitresses are nice, friendly and work fast. A TOP service that deserves a big 10. Of the three Sushi restaurants in the city of Groningen that we have visited so far, the food here is the least tasty, especially for the price you pay. The meat and fish here are not tasty For the same price you eat a lot better at YammY. The meat/fish is certainly 10 times tastier at Yammy.

Owner is super nice. I asked for a special soup base with tomatoes and I received it, I asked for a special sauce for the hotpot and I received it, service is great!! Definitely worth it.

The food always arrived cold. Which already made it taste off It's very expensive compared to the rest all you can eat I have been too . Normally soft drinks are included here they start of at €3.35. Regular small drink. We paid almost €100. And the food was average. The waitress are nice. Very welcoming. However for the price and the food quality. I don't recommend. I love hot food. If I'm going to pay for food atleast bring it hot. They bring out the rice and you have to wait 4-5 min for the protein.

We found a very modern restaurant. All you can eat! Orders are placed on a tray for each table with good menu navigation. The same thing is also shown on a map. It can be reworked every 15 minutes. Sushi, delicious skewers, salads, soups...everything your heart desires. From ordering to serving it took less than 5 minutes. So everything quickly. The waitresses were all nice and helpful. You have 2 1/2 hours, then dessert comes if it still fits... We were very satisfied and gave it 10 out of 10 points.

No wheelchair accessible toilet. But there's plenty of room for that. Food nothing really special. Good service.

Not recommended to go here for the sushi. Sadly one of the worst sushi I had from a restaurant. The rice wasn't smooth and had no balance in regards to stickiness and vinegar. I noticed it instantly when we received the first sushi and sadly it lived up to its appearance. The sushi toppings were okay, it's just the rice that ruined it. Other dishes on the menu were alright, but still not on par with other AYCE sushi restaurants. Meat not as tender as hoped. Especially for the price I was very disappointed with the overall food experience. The service was fine, kind waitresses. Food took quite some time for the amount of people in the restaurant.

This is my favourite restaurant. The people are lovely, food is always excellent and it just makes me happy everytime we go here.

Not much to say about the atmosphere because I ordered. But the sushi was great, finally 'fresh' tuna that is actually fresh.

A great restaurant for an all you can eat concept. Sushi was good, nothing special. The other dishes were also good, sometimes served with a little too much sauce, but that is personal. Tried everything. Sushi was really disappointing. Way too much sticky (old?) rice. Not a good ratio, also no taste. I tried everything on the menu, but the only things that were tasty were the smilies potatoes, the chicken on a stick and the beef. The rest is really mediocre. Too bad.

Very delicious!! There are a large variety food in the all u can eat section, perfect for sushi lovers. The hotpot was really tasty too!! Even though a little bit more varieties are missing. Overall very recommended!! Pd: the environment was very pleasant and the service by the staffs was lovely :)

Prima kunnen eten. Het opgeven van je eten verloopt soepel via de tablet waarmee je zeer precies kan kiezen wat te eten. Kortom gezellig met de (klein)kinderen gegeten.

Uitstekende restaurant met groot assortiment aan gerechtjes. Prima prijs/kwaliteit verhouding. Zeer vriendelijk personeel.

Imono had always a great quality, but since this year they have reduced the size of portions so much that it takes too long to eat nicely. As portions are way smaller, people order more rounds and more often so it creates long waiting times to receive your food. I want to highlight that the quality is still good, but not as good as before. Please, go back to the old sizes as it was way more efficient and better! 🙂
