Had a bite to eat before a performance. Paprika/tomato soup was fine but too salty for me. Gnocchi with extra vegetables was tasty.

Usually a very good terrace with good products. Today, probably due to the crowds caused by the festival, the apple pie was cold and we had to wait much longer for it. The apple pie was supposed to be warmed up but was lukewarm/cold.

Very good food! Wide selection of beers, good value for money

The atmosphere and ambiance here are top-notch. The food is good, delicious beer is served, and a variety of wines are available. The service is excellent. The kitchen is open, clean, and very good. You've also come to the right place for shared finger food or a brown fruit platter. This is also a great place for groups, with many options available. In short... GO HERE!

Great restaurant with a terrace on the new town square

Delicious food. I think it's really cool that they also have vegetarian burgers on the menu. Very friendly staff, and they were happy to help me add my favorite sauce to the burger. Now that's what I call service! Definitely recommended on the weekend, but it's not a bad choice during the day either! Even when it's extremely busy, beers are served very quickly, excellent!

Don't rely on bad reviews!!! I have been coming here regularly alone, and since 2024 with my partner; yes, when it's busy, you have to wait a bit! It's not a snap of the fingers like Vicky with the dog!!! Patience is a virtue; both the male and female staff do their best. And now during the holiday season, well... once again, it's not a snap of the fingers!!!! Be patient, and the food is simply good in terms of price and quality! We love coming here.

The selection of dishes and drinks at this restaurant is quite extensive, and the dishes were very tasty. The location is also great. The service, however, could be much better. Our order was forgotten, for example, and it took almost half an hour before we received a menu.

We were able to eat on the terrace; the weather was lovely, and that was good for the atmosphere. The service was mediocre; we had to ask for the menu and if we could get another drink, and it took quite a long time for our order to be taken. The food was reasonably good, but one of us had a hamburger that was still raw on the inside. We asked for it to be cooked a bit longer, but the hamburger still came back raw. The fried egg and mayonnaise had disappeared, although a new portion of fries had been added.

The food was good, but the service was bad. We were sitting on the terrace and had to wait a long time before anyone even came to ask what we wanted to drink. We immediately asked for a menu because we wanted to have dinner; we had to ask for a menu again. We received our food and drinks, but after that, no one came by again to ask if everything was fine or if we wanted more drinks until we had finished eating and had already asked for the bill.

The food is good. Although the satay in the wok wasn't really great... and a choice with rice would be nice. The other dishes ordered were very tasty. It seems like they are a bit short on staff, as you sometimes have to wait until someone walks onto the terrace again. Also, a question... the ladies' toilet door is very heavy for someone wanting to enter with a walker. Otherwise, this is one of our favorites on the renovated square at De Koperwiek.

What a great restaurant, the food is amazing. The restaurant is nice and spacious, and their terrace is also large and cozy. And top-notch staff!

We had a delicious meal; the different hamburger varieties are top-notch. The service is friendly and good. The atmosphere is good, beautifully decorated. My parents enjoyed themselves so much too. My father thought the food was top-notch; believe me, when my father says that... then it really is top-notch. We had a wonderful evening!

I had a pleasant experience for most of the evening, until I was unexpectedly asked to leave by security. It felt to me that this happened without a clear reason or explanation. I adhered to the house rules (which I reviewed several times beforehand) and am not aware that I caused any inconvenience to others. Therefore, I found this decision incomprehensible and unjustified. What I missed most was communication: it was not clearly explained what the problem was or what I should have done differently. That made the situation frustrating. I hope that these kinds of situations will be handled more carefully in the future, so that visitors feel treated fairly.

Beautiful terrace on a renovated square. Good and friendly service. We had coffee twice. We received a small glass with whipped cream and a drop of advocaat with it.

12 o'clock was fine, wanted to order coffee, said they'll be right there, but after waiting half an hour just paid...........little attention to the customer.

Good, friendly, and skilled staff

It is such a terrible shame that such a cozy atmosphere and delicious food are overshadowed by chaotic and disorganized service. As soon as it gets a little busy, they don't know what to do with it! The main course was served without the accompanying fries. Eventually (after 10 minutes), after inquiring, one portion of fries arrived at the table for 3 people. The fries were already cold and soggy. 10 minutes later, the waitress came to ask if we wanted another portion of fries. Well... please don't! The food without fries was tasty too. But next time I won't be coming here for dinner. Maybe for lunch, though. That way, it remains quieter and more manageable for the young ladies and gentlemen serving.

Nice decor. There were about 12 of us. First, we had a nice drink together and then decided to get something to eat. We had a table full of street food, every single dish delicious. Nice and friendly staff

Thursday evening and delightfully busy. We were served in a friendly manner and the food was delicious again. Every time I come, there is always something new on the menu, and it is always worth trying.

Nice decor, but the staff wasn't very enthusiastic. We weren't particularly impressed by the menu. We only ordered coffee, which was fine, by the way.

We had a great meal, but there was a loud couple next to us.

We come here almost every week, we have a regular spot at the bar, a beer is always ready, and so is the next one. Great spot in Capelle.

Had a delicious lunch. The sandwiches are a bit difficult to eat because they're so thick. There's a decent selection on the menu. It was a bit busy, so the waitresses didn't have much time, and we had to wait a long time to order drinks or pay.

It was a disco on a Saturday night, the music was so loud. We ended up leaving because we couldn't hear each other. The service was excellent, though.

What a terrible racket. You have to shout to have a conversation at the table. The service is fine, the food is only passable. We left quickly and took a deep breath once we were back outside.

The burger was extremely rare, and we weren't even asked how we wanted it. After re-frying it, the outside was very dark and the inside still undercooked. But the burger wasn't that thick! It was quite large, though. The chicken breast wasn't seasoned, only a little soy sauce was added for color. The peanut sauce was the only flavor. The fries that came with it were tasty, but very few. We got the main course, but I think the fries that came with it were still being harvested, because they arrived really late, despite us asking. Some guests with a dog also came in. That's enough for me. The staff was friendly, but I wouldn't go back.

We had dinner here on Friday, November 21, 2025, and enjoyed it with old (motorcycle) buddies. It was packed, but we received excellent service from the enthusiastic staff, and the food was delicious. For dessert, we were thoroughly entertained by a swinging and lively live performance from the band. We had a fantastic evening. Thank you for that.

Last night we dined here with six women before going to the theater. The service was prompt, the drinks arrived quickly, as did the menu. The food was delicious, but the fries arrived a bit late. The scampi dish, however, was a real disappointment. The scampi were floating in a very thin sauce/soup. It was only edible with a spoon, which we asked for, with a tiny ball of rice in the middle. The chef probably hadn't mastered this dish. It's a shame; we're always very satisfied with the food at De Boekenkast.

A big 10 for In Den Boekenkast. This restaurant was packed tonight. Yet, we received incredibly good service. Eight, mostly former bikers, were served promptly with delicious food and drinks. Everything was top-notch. Hats off to In Den Boekenkast, well done!!! Thanks.

I sometimes go to Den Boekenkast. I find the service from the bar staff poor. It seems like they're trying to help multiple customers at once because they're so busy, which is detrimental to efficiency and effectiveness.

What a shame, what a shame. It was such a good restaurant that we came to Rotterdam especially for it. But unfortunately, they can't live up to that promise anymore. One dish only arrived after the rest was ready, the fries weren't fried, and the tuna steak had very little flavor (certainly not Japanese-style) and didn't even have a single vegetable. An expensive restaurant with poor quality. Otherwise, the staff were lovely, but that's not the problem.

The food was a solid 4! The satay tasted burnt. Service, meh, 2 stars. The atmosphere was okay? Relaxed. Oh yeah, advice... Nothing is mandatory, of course, but if I had been the server, I would have at least offered compensation, halved the price, or given them the satay on the house. 🤘🏼

Today I celebrated my late husband's birthday with a dinner that should be a wonderful memory, but tonight was a disappointment. The service took a long time, my food was good, but the tzatziki on the sandwich I bought last week was chock full of garlic, so I didn't. When I paid, there was a dessert on my receipt that I hadn't ordered. Overall experience this time was far below par.

The food was good, Too bad the staff doesn't know if there are 2 croquettes on the menu you only get 1, had to ask for butter, a little bit of lettuce, nothing more. Called about it, would hear something, heard nothing more. You are then sitting with a whole group and don't want to complain. It turned out later that they had charged half price. But nothing was said. For me it was disappointing. The bill was simply shared by all of us. Furthermore it was empty inside no other customers a few outside.

Jazz evening, what a party, very nice and cozy. Food was great, the entire table of 8 people thought so. Just over 50pp spent with starter, main course and dessert plus drinks. Went back again for the pork belly because it is prepared fantastically!

It is in a converted church. The atmosphere is very nice, but when it is busy every conversation echoes through the building. This sometimes makes it difficult to understand each other. Service was great, good beer and good food.

Dear, I went here for dinner today 27/01/2025. We enjoyed the food and for €30 per person we left well filled. Some things have stood out, - music could be a bit quieter, it was just a bit too loud, so communication was possible, but the music was disturbing. - the lamps on the tables (these were lamps with salt and pepper underneath) are very dusty. This is not very pleasant if you want to eat and have to look at dusty things. The bottles in which the drinks were served also showed some kind of white circles just below the neck. - in the men's toilet in the loft, the lamp is not strong enough to illuminate the room, it is also in an awkward position. Besides negative things, there are more positive factors also present, - the staff is friendly - there is a cheerful atmosphere - the food is tasty and of good quality. Conclusion, I will definitely come here again, but I hope you can do something with the tips. Kind regards, Kylian Versteeg

In twee uur tijd slechts alleen het voortje mogen nuttigen.:mensen die na ons binnen kwamen hadden eerder hun eten. We hebben drie keer moeten aangeven dat we een tijdslimiet hadden ivm het naast gelegen theater. In 2 uur tijd moet je toch twee gerechten gegeten kunnen hebben , toch? Verder was de friet slap en de pesto roomsaus niet vers. Men heeft ons genoegdoening gegeven door een glas wijn van het huis te schenken.

Had a delicious lunch with 3 people on Boxing Day. Everything was attractively decorated. It was very nice that we could choose from the normal lunch menu as my 95 year old mother-in-law no longer wants an extensive Christmas menu. Everything was fresh and was very tasty.

Een paar maanden geleden hebben we hier nog heerlijk gegeten. Nu was het armoe troef. De satéschotel bestond eigenlijk alleen uit een pannetje met heel veel satésaus en enkele stukjes kip. De friet die wij erbij kregen voor 4 personen was bedroevend qua hoeveelheid. Het was ongeveer 10 frietjes pp. Garnituur zoals zoetzuur of sla ontbrak volledig. En dat voor 18,50 euro. Als toetje tiramisu besteld. Enige overeenkomst met het bekende toetje was ver te zoeken. Een paar bollen ijs in een coupe waar wat likeur overheen werd gegoten met daarin een paar keihard lange vingers. Ook was er geen verse taart zoals wij gewend zijn van de de Boekenkast. Het leek wel een nieuw concept 'hoe kunnen we zoveel mogelijk geld verdienen met zo min mogelijk kosten aan ingredienten of aan creatieve koks'. Een nieuwe eigenaar?

It was pleasant and the service was busy but fine. Unfortunately the food was mediocre. The Babette was very tough and the portion of fries for two people in a cup was much too small.

Een verborgen pareltje in Capelle. Voorafgaand aan theaterbezoek hebben wij hier heerlijk gegeten, op donderdagavond en gewoon vol. Mooie gerechten, heerlijk van smaak en mooi uitgeserveerd. Grootte van de porties waren prima kortom een heerlijk voor', hoofd- en nagerecht voor een hele nette prijs

Om 9 uur stopt de bediening met aandacht geven aan de bezoekers. We zaten aan de bar. Maar het personeel had nul tot nul aandacht voor lege glazen. Bezig met telefoons en met elkaar. We waren het zat en zijn maar naar huis gegaan. Zo jammer dit. Een paar euro besparen op personeel maar te veel op kwaliteit. Het is een keuze.

We ate here with family of 10 people. Highly recommended.
