The only minor downside: it was noisy due to a busy restaurant. It might have been due to our seating location, but sometimes we couldn't clearly hear the explanation of the surprise menu because of the noise from other guests drowning it out. Otherwise, everything was great!

Everything is really good and tasty. Nice detail: you don't get a cookie with your coffee, but a scoop of ice cream instead. And a pro tip: go for the surprise lunch. Refined food at a lunchroom price. And the dinner is amazing too.

Had an ice cream on the terrace. First of all, you have to wait a long time to be served at a dirty table. Then you have to ask yourself if the table can be cleaned. The line for the ice creams stretches a bit onto the terrace. Then one person gets their ice cream sundae, but because there are so few waitstaff walking around, you can still see the other two standing there. We have to ask for more, and unfortunately, by then it's already too quiet. Structurally too little staff for good service and an enjoyable experience.

With the new owner, the old atmosphere and prompt service are gone. We had to wait an incredibly long time for service (we must mention, by the way, that the young waiter was super friendly, but it was his supervisor that day who was conspicuously absent. He was quite cheeky when taking an order, but nothing was done with it. He was also not very helpful towards his own staff at the cash register) and then, after a long wait, the dish arrived but without the wine. We had to ask again. Other guests were also complaining, so we left without dessert (which was the plan anyway). I don't think Intenzo is the place for us in Hengelo anymore.

Talk about a power trip over a toilet. Get this: they literally ration restroom access based on your receipt. We were told we couldn't use the bathroom because another table ordered a five-course meal and we "only" ordered ice cream. When we pointed out how completely insane that logic is, the manager hit us with a dramatic, "This conversation is over." This wasn't even my first weird experience here. Back in December 2024, they did this whole over-the-top, try-hard performance just to cook some basic spaghetti. Spoiler alert: it tasted completely ordinary and definitely didn’t justify the premium price tag. Save your money and your time. A totally non-repeatable joke of an experience.

Since we had something to celebrate today, we went to Intenzo in Hengelo with Grandma (82). All three of us wanted to enjoy a delicious ice cream sundae on the terrace, but things turned out differently. We had picked out a nice spot on the terrace and sat down comfortably. Grandma wanted to use the toilet, so she grabbed her walker and walked towards the restroom as she often does. Then the waiter at Intenzo said that she was only allowed to use the toilet if she was seated in the restaurant. With a broad grin on his face, he pointed Grandma back outside. Naturally, my daughter and I got up, and he ended up smearing the sundaes in his hair. How can you suddenly deny an 82-year-old woman who has been a customer for years a visit to the toilet while she is a paying customer???? They will never see us there again. I find it scandalous!!!

Today, I was sitting on the terrace for Mother's Day with my parents and my elderly grandmother, who has difficulty walking. We ordered coffee, food, and drinks, and eventually my grandmother needed to use the toilet. With difficulty getting out of her wheelchair and just inside, she and my mother were stopped because the toilet was supposedly not meant for her. 'We could try the Hema'—which, of course, had been closed for a long time. I understand that you only allow paying customers inside; but if you are sitting on the terrace eating and drinking but are not allowed to use the sanitary facilities, it is really quite strange.

We found two measly mushrooms under a single lasagna, topped with a single sad-looking tomato, all at an exorbitant price. We felt that profit was more important than customer satisfaction.

Delicious ice cream sundae and cozy atmosphere. The price is a bit on the high side, though, for which I am deducting half a star. Two full points deducted because smoking is allowed on this terrace. This stands in stark contrast to the delicious, fresh ice cream and is really unacceptable in this day and age on a terrace where there are also mostly children. Intenzo, take responsibility.

Sometimes had to wait a bit long before someone came to the table to take a follow-up order.

In August 2025, I visited this restaurant with my wife and another couple. Although the atmosphere and service were good, the food was a major disappointment. I had a tournedos, but it wasn't the tender grilled red meat you expect, but very dry, almost white meat. My wife had a Spaghetti Parmigiano pasta; it turned out to be one solid block of cheese with spaghetti, very heavy, and not refined. The Prosecco was still. And yet they charge the price of a refined restaurant. We have visited several Italian restaurants recently, and this restaurant really didn't compare well in terms of food, hence this late review.

The food was okay, but certainly not exceptional. The main courses were disappointing, offering little that stood out or justified the price. The atmosphere was equally disappointing. It was far too crowded, with very long wait times. The sheer size of the place made the atmosphere more reminiscent of a food court than a cozy restaurant. There were clearly too many tables in the room, meaning we were practically sitting on our neighbors' laps, making it difficult to converse normally.

We went here to get a scoop of Van der Poel ice cream. We should have gone to the other location. It's gotten more expensive (which is normal), but I hope they don't use such small scoops at all locations. That would be inflation and shrinkflation. Disappointing portion. The food at Intenzo is truly delicious and offers a gastronomic experience that fully captures the authenticity of true Italian cuisine. Kudos to the chef, who does a fantastic job. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, the service was friendly and professional, and everything was perfect from start to finish. As a bonus: the house white wine was excellent – ​​highly recommended! 🍷✨ I'll definitely be back.

The dishes were exceptionally good and beautifully presented. However, we were in Italy and had hoped the pasta would be something a little more special than ordinary spaghetti – the kind you often get there. We missed that a bit. One small suggestion: Some Italian music in the background would have further enhanced the atmosphere.

We celebrated Valentine's Day at Intenzo in Hengelo and had a wonderful evening. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, which immediately created a relaxed atmosphere. The food was excellent and clearly prepared with care. Beautiful dishes, great flavors, and the wine complemented them perfectly. Everything went smoothly, and we were able to truly enjoy the evening without any worries. A great place for a night out; we will definitely be back.

A fantastic welcome and service, all equally friendly, genuine, and very attentive. The amuse-bouche was a small appetizer with mascarpone and citrus, and something else I can't quite remember, but it tasted very special. I had the spaghetti parmigiano, and it was the most delicious pasta ever, so creamy and beautifully balanced. And, of course, the tableside preparation was a feast for the eyes. Then I had the vegetarian lasagna, also a particularly rich and delicious flavor combination with mushrooms and scarmorza. For dessert, I had the semifreddo with salmiak and sambuca—fantastic too! And with it, the three of us shared a truly delicious Pino Grigio.

After a detailed explanation of the menu, we politely requested a repeat of the pasta sauces, as some of them were listed in Italian. The assistant manager reacted noticeably irritated to this simple request. When we discussed this among ourselves, she came to our table and indicated she didn't want to appear irritated, but then accused us of antisocial behavior. After expressing our dissatisfaction with this treatment and the quality of the service, we were unceremoniously asked to leave the restaurant. We are shocked by this escalation; as customers, we have never been treated this way. It is astonishing that a request for a repeat of an explanation can lead to removal from a restaurant. Fortunately, we received a warm welcome at Bistro Kees and enjoyed excellent service and a delicious meal.
