Jippies Kattencafe in Oude Stad

We had a great time at the cat café! The cats are very cute (one even slept on the windowsill with us), they're entertaining, and the staff are very friendly and have a great connection with the cats. We highly recommend a visit!

We love coming here; we visit every year on our way home to England. They do nice food (much better than any cat cafe in England we have found) with home made soup, plenty of vegan and vegetarian options and lovely cakes! The apple pie was particularly good 😀Of course, the best bit is the cats! It is a lovely home for them, their wellbeing is obviously paramount and they have loads of high perches and walkways (as well as a “withdrawing room” 🤣) for when they are feeling less sociable. You book online, and have 90mins for your slot, which keeps the numbers down for the cats’ comfort but also lets other people enjoy it. The staff are universally lovely, chatty and helpful, and know everything about what each cat likes and dislikes. (Thanks of course for speaking English to us hopeless Brits!) Oh, and as a last minute present stop (maybe for the neighbour who has been looking after your cats?) it is great, with all sorts of cat themed gifts. A lovely place for a stop before the ferry home to Newcastle. See you next year!

A great experience if you love cats. Very friendly staff and a warm welcome.

It's such a shame, my boyfriend and I went there a few months ago. We left a review and were completely ignored. We both ordered one thing and then spent a good hour staring at our empty glasses. We made eye contact several times and tried to address the staff. We raised our hands, but we were completely ignored. The only thing the staff did was play with the cats, so they didn't approach customers or use their phones. They showed no interest in the customers; they just walked right past us as if we weren't there, which was a real shame. The cats were cute and adorable, but I think if you work in a café like this, you should pay attention to your customers and not just play around with them, which doesn't give them any attention. It's a real shame. Two years ago, I had a completely different experience and wanted to share it with my boyfriend. We finally paid and left to get something to eat, as that wasn't going to happen. It's a real shame, and they really didn't care about the customers.

Sadly I would not recommend this place at all. Was confused by some contradictory information on my reservation so emailed asking for clarification and received "sorry we don't understand what you are saying" so I called and left a voice message since no one answered the phone. Didn't receive a call back so went in person and was greeted by an unpleasant hostile female, blond heavy set older dutch woman. When I expressed confusion and asked kindly and politely for clarification I was told in a firm, dismissive and hostile tone that " you don't understand dutch, do you want to come in or not?" my answer was no, due to how mean she was...her response" yes I'm so mean". I left thinking... what an unhappy human and not the energy or spirit I want to be around....hope the kitties get more love than customers

What lovely cats and a delicious lunch

Cat Café in the centre of Haarlem. As the name implies this is a café / tearoom with cats. We visited with our daughter. Good menu card, tasty dishes and friendly cat’s. Stay as long as you want.

The food was delicious, and the cats' well-being is our top priority, which is very important to us. We also found it very clean and the service friendly. The cats are well cared for, and there are plenty of opportunities to cuddle and play.

It's super cozy and despite the fact that it's mainly about the cats, the food is also super tasty.

This is a delightful space to relax and enjoy the felines who are living their best lives in the cafe. Plenty of seating options to enjoy drinks and a bite to eat and maybe make a new furry friend.

The second time was just as good as the first. The potato leek soup and tuna sandwich are delicious, and the drinks are even better. The cats are the most relaxed, cuddliest cats I've ever seen in a cat café.

I've been in Haarlem for two years. I have two young sons. Since I arrived here they have begged me to take them to this café with its cats. First we had to wait until my youngest turned six because they don't allow younger children. He finally did and we arrived. Fully booked. Can I book for later? No. I tried to book for another date and the woman on the phone was so rude that I am honestly never spending a cent at this bizarrely overrated place.

Felt like more of a cat advocacy space than a cafe - quite particular about entry, handwashing, engagement rules. If that's up your alley, then you'll enjoy your visit. But it's not the sort of place you go to if you're just looking for a fun cat experience. Note that they also require everyone at a table to order, though this isn't posted.

It was our first time here and we can absolutely recommend it. Some cats also came directly to us and let themselves be petted. The cakes also tasted delicious :-)

Had lunch here with my son, old Amsterdam sandwich and ginger tea. Fine! The cats were nice and busy, looking forward to it and ran after each other and over the rope bridge on the ceiling. Cat lovers must have seen this.

A small cafe, where you can relax and enjoy time with the resident cats. The coffee and cakes were lovely (with vegan options too, which was fantastic), and a very reasonable price. The cats do their own thing, but it's lovely when they come to you for strokes or to sit on your lap. It's also fun to watch their antics playing around the cafe.

What a lovely place to visit , the cats are very snuggly . A quiet cafe with polite , friendly and attentive staff definitely worth a visit if you are a cat lover . Especially loved the fact that there is a page which tells you about the cats and facts about each one . Very well looked after cars and playful . You get an allotted slot of 1 Hour 30 Mins which we called up in advance for but you can also just arrive without a booking but it may be busy .

It's a cafe with cats, if you don't like cats it's not a place for you. The staff is wonderful and so are the furry beasts roaming around. I had a really nice experience.

Very nice and spacious café with plenty of climbing, sitting and lying space for the cat. There is also a menu with a wide choice of different drinks, lunch or a pastry. I sat there quietly and at one point a cat came and sat next to me. Totally nice.

Please tell me if I understand you correctly: if the child is 5 years and 6 months old, is he not allowed in this cafe?

Very nice place, nice cats, nice people ♥️ staff super friendly, kind and funny. When I go I feel like I’m in a peace of heaven with family and pets. Cats are free to play alone or with you, to jump on the table, come to your lap or take a nap on their spots. They seems happy in this place 🐱 If we want to talk about prices, there are no fee for the entrance, and the prices are super nice, there’s no surplus compared to other places. Sometimes I find their prices even lower that others. Every time is a good experience for me, time for relax, it’s a kind of meditation looking at cats playing or feeling the purrrrr of when they are on my lap ♥️ Of course, super recommended!!✨

Enthusiastic employees with a huge heart for the animals. Every cat is talked about very lovingly. And yes...the door policy is strict, but everything is about the cats, so this can only be a good thing. Fester stole my heart, what a beautiful and sweet cat.

Incredibly friendly and cute cat cafe I was fortunate to visit recently. The owner is lovely and told me about their story and the background of their cats. The cats are beautiful and the cafe is beautifully decorated and you can tell the cats are happy, cared for and loved! I highly recommend going there if you are a cat lover! They have some amazing merch too!

such a lovely cat cafe, with extremely reasonable prices. they don't charge an entrance fee, so why not come over to just have a coffee? it's the same price as other cafes, but with the bonus of cats 😻 i especially loved whitney so much, who was so sweet and sat on my lap for the last half an hour i was there. she needed to be carried off my lap as my time was up, which was just so adorable. they treat the cats really well and it's a comforting environment. my only wish is that the music could be a little softer, but the cats seem super used to the volume, maybe it's just me 😂 overall, such a lovely place. bonus is the food is actually tasty! most cat cafes have pretty bad food as you come for just the cats, but here, i would come back for both the food and the cute cats. and they speak great english for tourists ☺️ i would highly recommend!!!

The kitties were adorable and the people there care deeply for them. There’s a list of the cats’ names with a little bit about them which is very helpful as they all have their own personalities. No entry cost so why wouldn’t you go there for a coffee or food!

Wonderful place that really takes excellent care of their cats. I love the page in the menu that tells you about each cat and their personality-how much they like to be pet, their energy level, etc. The food here is great too! Lovely staff - all very caring and friendly. The cats have plenty of room, trees, beds, ramps and a kitty door to another room where they can chill if needed. Loved this place.

Close to the Botermarkt you will find Jippies cat café. I have been coming here for many years when I visit Haarlem - a stop at the cat café is a regular occurrence. Jippies' is a relatively narrow, but long café. There is a cozy living room feeling, with comfortable sofas alternating with slightly more formal tables and chairs. The menu is extensive and reasonably varied, and there are always specials. I am a huge fan of the cakes myself, and I dare to recommend the chai latte as the best I have ever tasted. No young cats here - there are real seniors among them, and they mainly stay in their own place. These are the cats you have to look for yourself, because they are at the back of the café. But your company is much appreciated, and there will be plenty of spinning and cuddling, so be sure to take a stroll through the café during your visit. There are also some younger cats, and they can really stir things up. They are definitely up for a game of play. If you have one (or more) cat(s), or know someone with one (or more) cat(s), you can also buy very nice cat toys in the small shop section for a very reasonable price. Also some stuff for the cat lover themselves.

When you enter you pass through a kind of lock, as it were, very clever so that the cats cannot escape. We were asked to wash our hands there. Then you step into the room and it is full of atmosphere. A great living room vibe welcomes you. What is immediately noticeable is that the room is designed in such a way that the cats can go anywhere and withdraw themselves. The cats look well cared for and well, the staff is friendly. Inside it smells fresh and clean and looks neat. The staff also had a chat several times, which was very pleasant. The food is tasty, a bit small for my taste, but I'm a big eater myself so that's more just me. It was fresh and prepared with care.

We were offered lunch by friends in this cozy cat cafe. Enjoyed a delicious cup of soup and sandwich. Neatly cared for. The only downside is that our coffee was not finished yet and the soup was already served. Clean toilet. But most importantly, 6 lovely cats, all with their own instructions.

Last weekend there was a Christmas market, I wanted to end it with a cup of coffee at the cat cafe. I had been here once before and now I wanted to visit with my mother-in-law and children because it was so much fun. It said on the door that I had to ring the bell (it was very large and really stood out). A gentleman opened the door and I politely asked him if there was room for a cup of coffee. The gentleman, irritated, showed me another sign that they were full and wanted to close the door in my face without mercy. I politely told him that I had accidentally overlooked it. And then he closed the door in my face. Maybe he wasn't having his day or it was very busy (that can really happen to anyone), but this was a real downer. My children in particular were talking at night about how rude that gentleman was in closing the door. I hope to be able to visit again and be greeted politely, full or not full. Because we love cats!!!

What a nice experience to have lunch among the cats. It is decorated very nicely. There is a quiet, pleasant atmosphere inside with soft music in the background. There are booklets available with the names/ages of the cats in the café and a nice story about the cats (for example whether they like to be petted or not). In addition, I had forgotten my phone charger in the café and the lady very kindly mailed it to me (because I am not from Haarlem). Highly recommended!

i was here on saturday and it was soooooooo good!! whitney (the white cat) sat on my boyfriends lap for about an hour and it was sooo cute. drinks were delicious and the food even better!

We came by to make a reservation for the next month. At the door we saw a sign that there aren’t more than 8 kids allowed. We wanted to reserve for 7 kids, but they told us it wasn’t possible because ‘they don’t do parties’ (even though it was a month in advance and we asked for less than the maximum number of kids). We didn’t want a full party there, just to have a drink and some cake before we would go to the escaperoom. The ages of the kids were 9+. I can not accept the fact that you put a sign at the door with rules, which you apparently choose to not follow when it doesn’t suit you (for whatever reason?)

Advies: plaats een sticker op de deur waarop je aangeeft dat één keer bellen voldoende is en om even geduld te hebben want de bel is binnen wel hoorbaar, maar openen duurt even i.v.m. anders vluchtende katten. Niet iedere klant zal dit van te voren beseffen namelijk :)

This is such a lovely, relaxed cafe. The cats are all shelter kitties who are well loved and taken care of. Most love attention ( to varying degrees) and some will outright demand it. This is their home, and it shows by how comfortable they all are, and the relaxed vibe that creates. I visited 3 times while I was in Haarlem, and would have come back again. The staff are lovely and serve many tasty treats and good coffee. Highly recommend a visit if you're in town and missing your fur babies.

Jippies is a great cafe! It is nice and clean and offered a great menu as well. The Tuscan tomato soup was homemade, flavourful, and delicious. The hot dark chocolate was all natural and had a deep rich flavour. The sandwiches are made with healthy organic ingredients. Besides the food the store is filled with cat items for purchase. I bought the cutest cat earrings and cat bag. The five cats in the store will pull on your heart strings. The cats are well taken care of and have many different places to play…cat hammocks hung from the ceiling, baskets, cat towers and sofas too. If you are a cat lovers this is the place to be!

We had a lovely time at Jippies kattencafe during our visit to Haarlem! All the staff were so welcoming and gave us amazing recommendations for places to visit around the city! We also had some delicious drinks but mostly spent time playing with Fester as seen in the video! The kitties here were so calm and friendly with such unique personalities and stories, which was lovely to see at a cat cafe. We also got some toys and gifts for our kitties back home. I would highly recommend visiting Jippies Kattencafe to anyone for a guaranteed good time!

Ein sehr schönes Kaffee für alle Katzenliebhaberinnen und Liebhaber. Es wird viel Wert darauf gelegt, dass es den Katzen dort gut geht und man respektvoll mit den Tieren umgeht. Die Katzen können sich auch jederzeit zurückziehen. Es gibt eine Beschreibung der Katzen und was sie gerne mögen bzw. nicht gerne mögen. Essen und trinken waren sehr gut, das Personal sehr freundlich und Sprachgewandt (Niederländisch, Englisch und Deutsch). Wir kommen bei unserem nächsten Besuch in Haarlem gerne wieder. Dank je wel en tot ziens :)

Hartstikke leuke ervaring! Schatten van poezen en de salted caramel taart overheerlijk! Wel even reserveren dat hadden wij niet gedaan helaas maar niet teleurgesteld want alsnog konden wij dezelfde dag terecht om wat te komen drinken, Dankjulliewel!

Zeer jammer dat je niet spontaan binnen kan lopen. Ben bij andere katten cafés geweest waar dit niet zo was. Überhaupt niet gewend bij een café om te reserveren, behalve in Covid tijd. Gaat m dan niet worden in Haarlem helaas.
