Had a lovely evening at Hillie. Delicious food, beautifully presented, and friendly service.

What a super beautiful location this has become 🤩 we had a truly delicious dinner here in the evening! The steak tartare is definitely highly recommended. Besides everything looking beautiful, the staff is also super friendly. It was quite busy that evening, but despite that, we received excellent service and were kept informed at all times. We will definitely be going here more often!

I ate at Hillie Rotterdam last week. There was a very cozy atmosphere in the place. It was pleasantly busy and the service was quick & friendly. It is great to see how 2 young entrepreneurs are breathing new life into this place in Hillergersberg. It is a completely new concept and dining experience. A truly delicious evening menu and a welcome addition to Hillergersberg.

Nice place, burrata sandwich tasty, but I think 18.50 for a hamburger without fries and lettuce or vegetables is really too expensive. It's also a shame that they no longer have soup or bread with avocado.

New management, clearly ‘shrinkflation’. Prices have gone up and quality has gone down. The previously delicious toasted sandwich on good, sturdy sourdough bread, generously sized, came today on substandard white bread. Inquiries reveal that the new management ‘purchases differently’. Nowadays you also have to pay for oat or soy milk. Coffee is now 5 euros this way, almost a euro more. Unfortunately, no longer recommended, and hopefully this does not apply to all Juffrouw van Zanten restaurants. The terrace is much larger and has a different style.

A lovely spot for breakfast. We have never been to this corner of Rotterdam before, and this was a pleasant surprise. Plenty of lactose-free options and a child-friendly place.

My poached eggs were overcooked last Monday, June 22nd when I ordered them for breakfast. This was not the case a year ago.

Today I visited Juffrouw Van Zanten in Hillegersberg with my 3-year-old daughter. Unfortunately, it did not leave me with a pleasant feeling. Upon entering, we sat down at a table next to the play area. There was only a coloring page with colored pencils on the table, which led me to believe it was free. It was only when I sat down that I saw a handbag standing on the floor. I immediately asked an older man if the bag belonged to him and indicated that I had not seen that the table was occupied. Although I believe the misunderstanding had been resolved, several family members from the same table subsequently brought it up again. Therefore, I later decided to move a few tables away to avoid inconvenience. What disappointed me most was that the person who later took our order (the owner, as I understood it) responded with the remark: “Oh, are we going to play musical chairs?” The tone in which this was said did not feel funny to me, but rather like a sneer. As a result, I did not feel welcome as a guest. Additionally, I found the hygiene in the children's corner very disappointing. The toys felt dirty and sticky, and some pieces even had dried jam on them. The toilets didn't look clean either. Despite the black toilet seats, the restrooms looked and felt unhygienic. Furthermore, the food was disappointing. The fries were completely soaked in grease, making them unappetizing. Unfortunately, I went home feeling that we weren't really welcome. In any case, I will never come back here.

A cozy place, the only real downside is that you often have to wait a long time for your order. Especially for a cup of coffee in the morning. I was once told (annoyed by the waitress) that the machine had to warm up first and that was why it took so long.

I have eaten at Juffrouw van Zanten quite often. It is not the most special place, but it is always fine. It is also nice to go there with children. The coffee has improved lately as well. I am also a fan of the brunch platter. Do make sure you are hungry, though, because the portions are large. Today, my boyfriend and I had the pancakes (special and regular). Unfortunately, we didn't feel very well all day. At first, we thought we had eaten a bit too much. But in the evening, we still felt heavy. We wondered if others were experiencing this too.

We had a baby shower high tea today. It was fantastic. Lovely decor, delicious treats. They really think along with you. Highly recommended.

They welcomed us warmly despite our large group reservation. The pancakes and matcha latte were especially delicious!

The food itself is decent quality, but the price-to-quality ratio isn't great. If you're paying a hefty €16 for a sandwich, you'd expect more than just one slice of bread with so little topping that you have to order another to avoid leaving hungry.

A cozy, nice place to meet. We only had tea and coffee. Lots of choices and nice flavors. Reasonable prices. We'll definitely be back.

I had lunch today at Miss Van Zanten Hilligersberg. What a pathetic lunch. Poke salad... it was a bowl of lettuce with two very small slices of salmon, half a radish thinly sliced, a few tiny pieces of avocado stirred into the lettuce, four tiny pieces of mango, some green beans, and some thin red ribbons with no flavor. There was practically no sign that the salad had any filling at all. When I remarked that it was very minimal for the price, the kitchen gave me a small bowl with another tiny sliver of salmon, a few more tiny pieces of mango, and a few more wafer-thin slices of radish and cucumber. And they told me that it wasn't customary to give anything extra. The lettuce was essentially just a bowl of lettuce without any cheerfulness or appeal. It had no flavor. This "salad" left me feeling completely unsatisfied. It cost €14.95. My dining companion's toast poke was good, according to her, but it was only a tiny sandwich. This small sandwich cost €15.95. My dining companion then ordered a croissant to get more filling. What a terrible lunch. Unappealing and astonishing that you can offer something like this!

Since moving here from Cape Town just over a year ago, Mira and her team have warmly welcomed us at JvZ right from the start. Friendly waitrons (who kindly allow us to practise our Dutch on them), great coffee and a cosy atmosphere keep us coming back for more. Oh yes, and hands down the best tosti kaas in Rotterdam!

The food is different, but still good. The service was a bit lacking this time. We missed the friendly smile. The atmosphere is cluttered, but it fits the concept perfectly. Final verdict: fun, unique, different, and highly recommended.

I had lunch with some friends today; they have plenty of options for everyone. My friends had the toasted poke, quinoa salad, and falafel bowl, and I had the toasted steak. Everything was delicious and looked well-prepared. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasantly busy.

I was here for a baby shower and booked a high tea for 24 women. The food was fine, nothing special. I wouldn't go here for lunch again. I found it a bit bland, especially the scones with the jam and white spread, which lacked flavor. The pancakes were very dry, and the butter cake was mediocre. It's a shame there were no table decorations, as shown in the photos. There was a pink napkin and a pink frozen donut, otherwise, it wasn't much. They also had plain white tableware and various rainbow-colored mugs mixed with glasses because they didn't have enough. The tea water was refilled regularly, and they were flexible about the arrival time. It was a pleasant afternoon, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend this place enthusiastically. The price-quality ratio is good, at 31.50 per person, which is generally considered more expensive.

A really great place. A while back, we sometimes had to wait quite long due to staff shortages, but that's much better now. Great atmosphere, friendly service, delicious food and drinks, and child-friendly!

Lunch with two friends. We had the 12-o'clock snack with soup, croquette, and a small salad. It was delicious! Only the soup wasn't really hot, more like lukewarm. Nice place to sit; we had a spacious table. Friendly staff.

I love coming here for breakfast or lunch. Sometimes it gets a bit busier and you have to wait a bit longer, but the food more than makes up for it! I'm a big fan of their brunch platter, the avocado toasted chicken, and the club sandwich. Highly recommended!

I often come here for coffee, lunch and I have also booked a baby shower once. It is a beautiful place with a very cozy children's play corner. The prices for the food are on the high side, but hey... that's the case almost everywhere these days. The sandwiches for lunch and the layout of the dinner plates could be a bit fuller. Some dishes have little on the side, no lettuce, little bread. And for that it is expensive. All in all a fun thing to play, especially with children. Service has always been good for me so far, I don't know what everyone else is complaining about. Perhaps too high expectations, that's what this neighborhood is certainly known for ;)

Sunday morning was not busy, we were allowed to choose our own spot. After 10 minutes we could order cappucino. After 20 minutes! We received them cold... nothing added... this was the 2nd time unfortunately... always fine before!

Delicious food and friendly staff, but it's a pity that we had to wait 45 minutes for pancakes, which we ultimately had packed to make it to an appointment on time.

Last Wednesday I had dinner at Juffrouw Van Zanten with my daughter. We understood through social media that Wednesday was hamburger day. That was exactly what we were looking for that evening. The food was fantastic!!!! Really delicious, made with love and you could taste it. The wait staff was also very pleasant. As soon as our glass of rose was finished, we immediately received a new one. The atmosphere was great and a nice play area for my daughter!!! A class thing!!! Worth repeating!!!!

We had dinner here with a group of 14 people on Saturday evening. Other reviews say this, but we did not experience this. The children's menus are too big in my opinion. Furthermore, the herb butter contains a lot of fennel, which I don't like. We had a sandwich beforehand and then I had the steak frites. Both had herb butter on them, I personally wouldn't have this again next time

Top lunch spot! Had a delicious toast vitello, super nice and attentive service, delicious copy of coffee, so everything is just right here.

Had a bite to eat here for the first time last night with my daughter. After we sat down it took at least 10 minutes before someone came to us. Because we had already studied the menu, we ordered our drinks and dishes in one go. My daughter had almost finished her starter when the drinks were brought. It was quiet in the business, so that was not an issue. I ordered mussels which were tasty, but there was nothing else with them, not even a few pieces of baguette. My daughter's steak was not of good quality, again nothing at all except about 10 fries. You pay €26 for that! I had to ask for a cloth for my dirty hands and was then given a small bag with 1 wet cloth in it. No one else came to us to ask if we wanted something to drink. So a big inadequacy and a one-time visit. Fortunately, there are plenty of good alternatives in the area!

Only rarely do you come across a restaurant where lovely people work with passion to serve honest and delicious food, a place where children are really welcome. Juffrouw van Zanten in Hilligersberg is a place where the 'sun' shines every day - and you can taste it.

Today we thought we would have a coffee and a pastry. Now I understand that it sometimes takes a little longer when it is busier, but on the other hand you know that it can also get busier on certain days. We order 1x chocolate milk, 2 coffees and 3x apple pie, but after 25 minutes it was not there yet, now I also had to go to work, so I let them know that my portion had to be taken off, now it turns out that my wife was still there for another 10 minutes. had to wait for. My order was still there at checkout, but of course she did not pay for this. There was also a couple next to us who had not even been spoken to yet, so they left. Missed opportunities during an event can actually help you build goodwill So never again for us.

Had such a nice meal here, friendly staff, delicious dishes and great fun to go to with the children. Highly recommended!

I've been here twice now and both times I didn't have to pay. That in itself is good service, but there is more to it. It seems as if management resolves criticism with compensation. Despite all apologies for previous reviews, Mrs van Santen must make a review of herself. Chefs are scarce these days, but with young people in the kitchen and on the floor you are not going to win the competition. I lack vision and that became clear to me after I was served a triple beer in a can with a long drink glass. According to Miss van Santen, this is the brewery's policy because beer has a better shelf life in cans. I may be missing a new insight, but as Miss van Santen you don't let this get to you. I hope that someone realizes that there is quite a bit wrong and that improvement will come with training and coaching.

Recently ate here with my family. The employees are very customer unfriendly. In addition, my son got food poisoning from his avocado toast. In conclusion, a major disappointment!!!

We have been to Juffrouw van Zanten a number of times in a short time. What a wonderful restaurant. Friendly and helpful service, wide choice of dishes and a cozy atmosphere. For example, you can order breakfast throughout the day. What I think is a plus is that no extra costs are charged for lactose-free products. We are fans!

Criticizing behind the customer's back...

I wrote the following last time. However, things have changed enormously since then. Dinner is highly recommended. Don't feel like cooking, you can also enjoy a delicious meal at Van Zanten in the evening. And everything organic. That is so special!!! This is therefore the only place where we eat delicious stew or steak fries. And the price-quality of the dinner is top. The lunch dishes are also highly recommended. I raised my stars. Van Zanten is a top player in the area. And it's so nice that there is room for adults in the restaurant and the little ones are welcome in the coffee bar. Very happy with you. And so nice that we now have only top experiences 5 times in a row! The restaurant is very nice. The coffee bar too, but especially nice there with small children. We are very happy that van Zanten is here. But the price-quality ratio is really not that good at the moment. Still hungry after a lunch of bread with avocado. The quantities have become really minimal. Can't compete with Jordy's or Roast on that. I hope this can be improved upon a bit.

Looks nice inside. Nice and smooth service. Only had small snacks and a drink on the terrace. The terrace is spacious and that is very pleasant.

Conclusion: I won't go here again. The service is terrible. My experiences: 1st visit - it was quite busy. My girlfriend and I waited 10 minutes to order and 10 minutes for the coffee to arrive. Should be possible when it's busy. 2nd visit - it was very quiet. Sit on the terrace because of the nice weather. After waiting 10 minutes to order and not having had any coffee for 15 minutes, I walked away disappointed. 3rd visit (today, lovely sunshine) - it's 12 o'clock and the tent is almost empty. A couple on the terrace. I wanted to have a quick cappuccino and then do some shopping. I already thought 'I'll just order in and pay immediately and then I can leave straight away'. The young lady at the bar wouldn't let me order. She kindly asked me to sit down where my order would be taken. My hunch was correct. I walked away again after waiting 10 minutes. Why would you want to sit here and wait forever...? Dear owner. I don't think I'm the only one with these experiences, read your reviews. It's a shame not to use the potential of such a fun spot.

Good food, but put a manager here who tells the employees how the catering industry works. Have a nice chat with 4 men/women at the bar while your guests are waiting. Has all the potential but take care of your guests!

The food is excellent. You can eat there with your children because they have plenty of entertainment. I just find the portions absurdly small. We only have a cup of tea or coffee and a snack or a cake. We had lunch and dinner there. In both cases we thought the food was really good, but the portions were far too small.

We celebrated our son's birthday here, who turned 8! It was really fun. The children could play between courses and the waiter was really nice, especially with the children. Worth coming more often.

The coffee is unbearable. They serve filter coffee from 1963 and coffee Americano. That is espresso diluted with warm water. Terrible. There was a crumbled leftover of cake that looked like softened lard. The place is full of expats and their screaming children. Not for me. The waitress girl was very nice.

Vriendelijke en ad remme bediening. Ze maken het echt naar je zin. De akoestiek is niet geweldig. Het eten is gewoon zonder fratsen. Prima plek om even snel te lunchen.

Very cute spot for a nice lunch! I enjoyed the Suus' favorite. Brioche with avocado, egg and added bacon. Price is worthy and it's good quality.

It is famous as a lunchroom so we were surprised to find that they serve dinner. We ordered beuf bourginon and mussels cooked in garlic and white wine. Both dishes were great. The portions are good value for money. Good selection of kids menu. Wednesday at 1730ish was good without reservation. We will definitely come back!

Unfortunately a 1 star, it was not very busy but we still waited 30 minutes for 1 slice of bread with avocado and tomatoes on it and that for 11 euros, quite pricey for what you get. Staff often walked around but paid little attention to the guests, it could be better.

Eten was redelijk. Wel veel te duur voor het kleine broodje dat ik kreeg. Toen ik cash wilde betalen kon dat niet. Voor mij dus de 1e en tevens de laatste keer.

Grappig restaurant met vriendelijke bediening. In dit deel van het restaurant veel ouders met kinderen door de speelopties.

Ik keek er naar uit hier een keer te lunchen met de kids, maar vond het een dikke tegenvaller. Het was vooral wachten. Na 20 min kijken of ik de aandacht van iemand kon krijgen (terwijl het niet echt druk meer was) ben ik zelf maar aan de Desk gaan vragen of ik kon bestellen. Daarna wachten op het eten. Na 50 min onze lunch. Avocado toast is 1 sneetje, niet echt een maaltijd en de kids brunch, pannekoekjes, fruit en croissantje maar niets om er op te doen. Enkel een paar druppels stroop op de bovenste pannekoek. De verrassing die daarbij hoort moest ik naar vragen. Mooie gezellige zaal, maar voelde me niet gezien en prijs -kwaliteit discutabel. Teleurstellend.

Het eten was matig, groot stuk verlept bruine sla tussen sandwich. Duurde ook vrij lang om de aandacht vh personeel te krijgen als je iets wilde bestellen. Helaas was er ook een kinderhoek midden in de zaak met veel gillende peuters.

Twee weken geleden met kleinkind echt prima , helaas vanavond na klein uur wachten liefdeloos gerecht. Koude zeebaars met frutsels.

Tante dagje. Top plek ervoor! Feedback van mijn neefje over de pancakes: TURBO lekker!!! En over het restaurant: beste plek EVER! Enough said denk ik 😂 Ontdekt dat ze nu dus ook in de avond diner doen. Gaan we zeker een keer voor terugkomen.
