Jumbo Food Cafe in De Zijde / Duivenvoorde / Park Veursehout

The food is delicious and there's plenty of space, but I can't say the same about the hospitality. We repeatedly encounter the same problems. * Little interest in helping customers. * Customers are sometimes ignored at the cash register. * Sometimes I get an attitude when I have a normal question, and sometimes there's unfriendliness. * Very closed and inflexible. * Quickly closing the location even though there's still time before the restaurant closes. I understand it's a busy work environment, but if the problem is repeated and leaves a negative impression on our dates too often, then that's less important.

We were in a large, industrial-style hall. I didn't hear any music, but I did hear a lot of noise from other people, cutlery, and conversation. Too noisy for me, a hall like that. Too tiring. I couldn't find a spoon from my seat (the spoons were all the way on the other side), and I didn't know how to order anything else. It's a good thing my friend knows his way around there better. I was stared at by children at a table next to us.

What happened at JUMBO? Untidy store, disinterested staff, and they kept me waiting for ages. The gyro pita was rock hard and inedible, only the meat was okay. For €6, absolutely not good value.

Today, October 8, 2025, I wanted to order a pizza at the counter. After waiting 10 minutes, the woman returned from her break and discussed things at length with her colleagues (not for work). She told me I only had to wait 20 minutes and pointed to the sandwiches, saying, "Choose this." Antisocial and unfriendly. The company is definitely losing money this way.

I visited this café inside Jumbo recently with my family, and unfortunately we had a very unpleasant experience with one of the staff members working at the pizza part of the food café (a blonde man whose name sounded like Timothy). We are not from the Netherlands, so this was our very first impression of Jumbo, and sadly it was not a positive one. When my aunt politely asked whether the chicken was halal, he responded in an unnecessarily rude and aggressive way, saying something along the lines of “What do you want? It is halal. If you want it, eat it. If you don’t, then don’t.” When my aunt calmly pointed out that his tone was disrespectful and that she had simply wanted to confirm the food was halal, he reacted by mocking her in a high-pitched voice and continued to be dismissive. This behaviour was extremely unprofessional and made us feel very uncomfortable. What made it even worse was that I noticed him speaking in a similar rude and dismissive manner to other customers as well, so it seems this was not just a one-off situation. We had been looking forward to enjoying our meal, but the way this staff member treated us spoiled the experience. I hope the management takes this seriously, because no customer — especially those experiencing Jumbo for the first time — deserves to be spoken to or mocked in that manner.

Took half an hour to get my food Bad service

I had lunch today and asked for sauce with my food, but didn't get it. When I asked about it later, I was told I'd have to buy it again. The food had been under a heat lamp for 5 minutes and was still cold. Never again.

Large supermarket in the mall. The focus is on grocery shopping, but they also sell food.

Once never again, issuing an order was a real disaster! My food sat there for 10 minutes getting cold. These employees work in slow motion.

Awful attention , personal didn’t wanna take my order. Prices are okay too bad the service , won’t come back

Had cappuccino today, it looked like water. This young man can't make it.

Unpleasant staff! After waiting for your food, it was just handed over cold. You pay for your food and you get ice cold... We are disappointed....

Good food for a very reasonable price. Definitely better than many cafes at the food corner. Cleaning could have been better

There is a wide choice of dishes, it is heated up, after which you can pick it up at the restaurant.

Grumpy grill/french fries employee throws the food down at the takeaway counter and walks away without saying a word.

Tasty sandwiches, excellent cappuccino and lots of choice. But the wooden cutlery is completely useless. You can't get through a sandwich with it and you can't pierce anything with a fork. It's a pity that no decent cutlery is supplied here.

Best Jumbo so far. The prices here are the most affordable in the shopping mall.

Tasty sandwiches, good coffee, nice staff, but dirty tables, chairs with stains and crumbs just like the floor. Cleaning is also part of it, too bad!

Eerste keer dat ik hier at, keuze genoeg. Wellicht was mijn keuze voor een classic burger zonder friet niet de juiste. Het broodje op zich was al niet heel groot maar de burger zelf was nog wat kleiner. De smaak was overigens prima maar niet de € 5,75 waard.

Very convenient. Good food at a good price! You can combine different dishes and pay per weight. There are also pizzas and grill/burger options.

Een goed idee van Jumbo, de prijs zie je overigens wel terug in de kwaliteit van het eten en de bediening. Deel van het personeel kan geen normaal Nederlands, het eten zoals de pizza's hebben een hele dunne slecht afgebakken bodem, en de hamburgers zijn te klein voor het broodje waar ze op liggen.

Wat een leuk idee van Jumbo, eten halen in de winkel en dan in het restaurant eten.

Pizza's zijn best lekker en de drank uit de winkel kun je hier binnen opdrinken waardoor het best goedkoop kan allemaal.
