Good food. But we were here with friends and we ended up finding a cooked roach in our food and it was honestly sickening to see. Although the service lady was incredibly nice and all the staff understood our side and did not charge us for that dish. Good food but there is something to improve in the sanitation of the place. Again, take in consideration that this is an honest mistake and should not reflect much on the restaurant overall.

Terrible service. Super hot and they world not even turn on the aircon. Really rude, shouted at us saying if we had to wait two hours that’s what we will need to do. After waiting for 1.5 hours we decided to leave to large Chinese restaurant with escalators up around the corner, super jammed pack restaurant and the food came in 10 minutes no joke. Never going to Kaa Lun Palace ever again.

We have been coming here for over 20 years…. Haven’t been for a while and it seems new owners and chefs. The food was unfortunately incredibly bad, every dish didn’t taste good 😞 we were looking forward to it so much. Then almost a fight about a dish that we have eaten a hundred times before, which we also make at home… that it really should be like this while it smelled and tasted really awful. Now looking for a new authentic good Chinese, this was the last time here (and we are very disappointed about that)

Too bad we were looking forward to it again after years but the food was very bad, no longer tasty and the staff was rude. We were with 10 people the food came per dish on the big table. The time between was quite long so you could not eat the dishes together. Very disappointed.. unfortunately we will never go here again

Very authentic Chinese food with reasonable price

By far the best Cantonese dim sum restaurant I have tried in the Netherlands! food was super authentic, freshly made and hot, tea tastes of good quality, fast service, nicely decorated, only the toilet is a downside. The cheung fun and the haam soi kok 咸水角 is definitely a must get :) also you are bound to be surrounded by the chatter of Cantonese aunties and uncles which is a plus and really adds to the atmosphere 😂 feels like I am back in Hong Kong

A small city cafe with delicious traditional Chinese food. The service is quite fast, although a bit rude. All the food is tasty and fresh. Prices are reasonable. The toilet is a bit surprising with its mess.

I visited the restaurant tonight and noticed a strong fishy odor upon entering. Despite this, we proceeded with the meal. Unfortunately, the bowls and plates used to serve also emitted the same fishy smell. After requesting replacements, the issue persisted. My Chinese husband found the food flavorful, but I experienced DIARRHEA shortly after dining and had to use their toilet. The restroom facilities were concerning, with cleanliness issues and overfilled open waste bins piled up to the same height as the toilet bowl. While some patrons might enjoy the cuisine, I believe the restaurant should address its hygiene practices to ensure a better experience for all guests. It's a very unpleasant experience.

I have been coming here regularly since my student days. Not expensive and super tasty. Excellent Cantonese, lots of choice. Recommended: the chicken with broccoli with honey and walnuts.

Delicious Beijing duck and dim sum.

The best of the best Chinese cuisine in The Hague. We tried it at least 5 times here and It was every time just as amazing and delicious. One of my favorite dishes is Hot Pot Curry fish and Hot Pot Eggplant! Also as a pescatarian, the vary of the foods are wide and there are much more choices for vegetarian as well.

The visit was nice. Prices are fair. Just struggled a bit with the Beijing Duck as there were bones in the meet itself, which was surprising and may be lack of the Jin Xuan Tea (Milky Oolong).

DON’T COME TO THIS PLACE! Terrible service today. Employees were shouting at us and were very rude. No common manners and the food wasn’t good either. I am just so in shock with the rude service since they were swearing at us for no reason.

There were many different types of dim sum and they were all delicious. I recommend Soryongpo and fried dumplings. There was a lot of fried rice, so the two of us ate our fill and packed the rest.

Always good dim sum here! We always order a mix of different dishes such as Peking duck, wantan soup, noodles with beef, shrimp pancakes, chicken fingers, fried and steamed snacks. And then a Chinese ice tea. Tastes delicious! Typical Chinese atmosphere with ditto service. I love it.

Kaa Lun Palace is my favourite dimsum restaurant. Their dimsum and main dishes are amazing. I have been visiting the restaurant for years and it never disappoints!

The food was delicious and seemed to be authentic, too. It is priced moderately. And there are so many options to pick from! The staff did not talk too much, but that is apparently genuine, too. :) I had quite some issues communicating in English, though. I definitely recommend visiting this place.

Very authentic chinese restaurant. Everything form the decor to the way you ordered your dishes was as it should be in a chinese restaurant. They're not afraid to put original dishes like "chicken feet" and "duck's tongue" on the menu. The staff was friendly and talked English without issue.

If you're planning to have dim sum at this place and don't have at least 30 minutes to spare, don't bother going. I ordered four dim sum dishes at precisely 12:57 PM, according to my receipt. At 1:21 PM, after waiting almost half an hour and noticing that customers who arrived after me were already being served, I asked how much longer my order would take. The waiter (different from the one who took my order) told me it would take another 20 minutes. I was upset—not because I'd already waited about 25 minutes, but because I was told it would take an additional 20 minutes. What kind of dim sum takes nearly 50 minutes to prepare? To make matters worse, the original waiter who took my order approached me in a very rude manner, saying that dim sum takes time to steam and isn’t fast food, as if I didn’t understand what dim sum is or was expecting it to be ready in five minutes. I told him that I knew what dim sum was but I still couldn’t understand why it would take nearly 50 minutes. He then almost yelled at me, asking if I wanted to cancel my order. By the time I finally left the restaurant, it was 1:25 PM. While it turned out that the food was prepared within a reasonable time given that 2/3 of the tables were occupied, the way I was treated was unacceptable. If the waiter had initially told me it would take 5-10 minutes more, I would have waited without further complaint. But they gave me incorrect information from the start, which triggered my frustration, and then they treated me poorly. I will never go back to this place again.

Wij komen hier inmiddels al een jaar of 15. Lang moeten toekijken hoe het kleine stevige ventje met geblondeerd haar en bril iedereen slecht behandeld en helaas waren wij vanavond aan de beurt.. Wij bestellen vaak hetzelfde, dus herkennen veel gerechten. Na het ontvangen van onze '' kwai till met beef '' viel het ons op dat er amper rundvlees doorheen zat. Waar voorheen het vaak 70/30 was, was het dit keer 90/10. Wij gaven dit aan bij de bediening en het gerecht werd aan de leidinggevende getoond. Meneer schoot volledig uit zijn slof tegen zijn collega in een taal die ik niet kan verstaan. Hierna begon hij tegen ons over het gerecht, niet bij ons aan tafel, nee schreeuwend vanaf de kassa. En wij hadden het mis en wij wisten niet hoe het gerecht eruit hoorde te zien. Na het vertellen dat wij hier al zo'n 15 jaar komen en voorheen nog nooit zo weinig vlees te hebben gehad, zei die dat die ons kende en we al 3 maanden niet waren geweest. Want dat maakt uit hoe het gerecht eruit ziet of hoeveel je ergens van krijgt? Ik had hem een afschrijving getoond dat we vorige maand nog waren geweest en hier werd door meneer lacherig over gedaan oeeeh een maand... Want dat hoort uit te maken? Tip voor de beste man, behandel al je gasten met respect. Niks gaat sneller rond als slechte mond tot mond reclame. Ons ga je hier niet meer zien.

We have been coming here for about 15 years now. We had to watch for a long time how the small sturdy guy with bleached hair and glasses treated everyone badly and unfortunately it was our turn tonight.. We often order the same thing, so we recognize many dishes. After receiving our ''kwai till with beef'' we noticed that there was hardly any beef in it. Where before it was often 70/30, this time it was 90/10. We indicated this to the waiter and the dish was shown to the manager. The gentleman completely freaked out at his colleague in a language I cannot understand. After this he started talking to us about the dish, not at our table, shouting no from the cash register. And we were wrong and we didn't know what the dish was supposed to look like. After telling him that we had been coming here for about 15 years and that we had never had so little meat before, he said that he knew us and that we had not been there for 3 months. Because does that matter what the dish looks like or how much you get of something? I had shown him a statement that we had been last month and the gentleman laughed about this, oeeeh a month... Because that should matter? Tip for the best man, treat all your guests with respect. Nothing travels faster than bad word of mouth advertising. You won't see us here again.

Al igual que con la mayoría de los restaurantes chinos no se va aquí por el ambiente o el servicio, sino por la comida. Y la comida aquí es sabrosa, auténtica y no demasiado cara. Simplemente escriba los números del menú en un pedazo de papel y todo se sirve rápidamente a su mesa.

As with most Chinese restaurants you do not go here for the atmosphere or the service, but for the food. And the food here is tasty, authentic and not to expensive. You just write the numbers from the menu on a piece of paper and everything is served quickly to your table.

Everything incredibly tasty. Best dim sum ever! Seriously. My Chinese grandma felt she was back in China. Almost perfect score, but toilet so dirty. All in all, recommended.

Very impressed by our lunch today! The beef in the ho fan was very good. Super tender. The prawn cheung fan was not the best I had, but still very acceptable. Chicken feet very tasty! The fried watercress was surprising. Usually it's pan fried, but this was delicious as well. Service is kind of weird. Why do you ask if we can eat with chopsticks. We're clearly Asian!

Kaa Lun Palace, once one of the crown jewels among Chinese restaurants in The Hague, seems to have lost its former luster. Located in Chinatown's lively Wagenstraat, my return to this establishment after years was an experience of mixed feelings. Upon entering, the untidy and worn entrance was immediately noticeable. The place was almost empty and the staff informed us that the kitchen would close at 8:30 PM, which brought an unexpected rush. But also a number of guests who left again. The waiter in sweatpants did not match the atmosphere you expect from a restaurant. We chose an assortment of dim sums, mainly filled with shrimp, and a main course of beef with crispy stir-fried vegetables and white rice. The dishes arrived almost at the same time, which surprised us as we had expected the dim sums as a starter. Although the flavors were authentic and clearly home-made, it lacked the sophistication that previously characterized Kaa Lun Palace. The condition of the restaurant left a lot to be desired. The visit to an unsanitary and damaged men's toilet was particularly unpleasant, and the interior of the restaurant looked dated and worn. These elements contributed to the feeling that the restaurant may have seen its best days. It is noteworthy that Kaa Lun Palace is still highly rated by the culinary platform GM with 14 out of 20 points. This rating raises questions about the timeliness of their ratings, as my experience differed greatly from what one would expect from such a score. In short, although the dishes still have an authentic taste, Kaa Lun Palace seems to be losing the battle with both time and expectations.

The dim sum is very good and worth trying. The main dishes are relatively ordinary, but maybe I didn't order them right.

I like to come here whenever I’m in the area. I’m just in love with the many yummy dimsum options. Also my parents love this place so I’m glad they also like to dine or have lunch here! Also the crispy noodles here are hands down the best I’ve ever had! I always make sure to order this. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.

The dimsum here is very good, and has been for many years. And fairly typical with many traditional dim sum restaurants, the service is terrible and comes across as quite unfriendly, unwelcome. Don't expect a warm smile. It's unfriendly looking waiters in their training suits and old t-shirts that seem unwashed and worn for years. You'd think: come one guys, it doesn't cost anything extra to come across a bit more friendly. This place is about the food and not about service or anthing else really. Also, be warned: this is a daytime restaurant and early evening only. While this restaurant's closing times say 21:00h, if you arrive 20:00h, they will send you away with an emotionless face mumbling and saying the kitchen is closed. If you are looking for dim sum and atmosphere then go to Full Moon City around the corner, with equally as good dim sum food and quite a friendly service.

If you are looking for a cozy Chinese restaurant with good service, please keep walking. We wanted to eat at Kaa Lun yesterday. There were only 3 other tables. After studying the menu for 20 minutes, I sat down on the end of the table. The shop was empty and I wanted to discuss it with my partner. Then the waiter finally came by after 20/25 minutes, not to ask if we wanted something to drink, but to shout "YOU ARE IN THE WAY" in a very unkind way. I stood up and showed the gentleman that even if I sit on the end, there is still 1.5 meters left for effortless operation. If the waiter had asked politely if I wanted to sit at the designated spot again, there wouldn't have been any problem, but this...We got up and went to Fat Kee. There you can enjoy delicious food for a good price and the service has standards and values.

Eten Heerlijk. Je moet zelf je eten noteren op een briefje. Tekst en uitleg is moeilijk te verkrijgen. Personeel ziet er vermoeid uit. Als je fooi geeft dan bedanken ze je niet eens 2 keer meegemaakt.

Gewoon hoe een Chinees moet zijn. Het draait hier om het eten verwacht geen goede service of fijne ambiance. Eten en door.

Dimsum en andere Chineze Authentieke Gerechten op de Wagenstraat 95 in Den Haag. Heerlijk ook met fijngesneden Surinaamse Madame Jeanette voor de pit. Doordeweeks lekker rustig.

Update: nu erg tegenvallend. Peking eend is oud met taai vel. Je moet zelf de nummertjes van wat je bestelt van de fotokaart opschrijven op een papiertje. Bapao lekker. Groentengerecht errg vet en weinig smaak. Alles erg duur. Kwaliteit eten van een eethuisje maar dan twee keer zo duur. Het was koud en veel rustiger dan vroeger. Vooral toeristen terwijl het vroeger juist vol zat met Chinezen. Vergane glorie. ‐----------------- Lekker chinees/cantonees eten. Dus geen buurtchinees: gelukkig geen gebakken banaan met pindasaus, geen sate, geen zachte babipangang verdronken in tomatensaus. Het is meer een gezellig chinees eethuisje dan een restaurant. Hele lekkere peking eend met pannenkoekjes en groenten gegeten (€30). Babi spek was top (€14), dimsum erg lekker en heet en veel keus (€3,50). Bediening is vriendelijk, maar druk, doen hun best, maar niet te vergelijken met bediening in een echt restaurant. Ohw en achteraf bleek het toch iets teveel, dus alles wat overbleef lekker mee naar huis gekregen. Enige nadeel... het is altijd onwijs druk. We hadden gereserveerd en toch moesten we nog 10 minuten in het gangpad naast de tafeltjes in het begin wachten. Dus zorg dat je een tafeltje in het midden hebt, niet direct naast de deur. Als er überhaupt ooit plek is. :-) ===== Pas op. Negatieve reviews worden verwijderd.

Het eten is heel goed. Traditionele Chinese gerechten. Restaurant is wat gedateerd en smoezelig. Maar als je puur voor het eten gaat zit je goed. Prijs-kwaliteit verhouding prima 👌🏽

Amazing real Chinese food but service and customer skills could be improved.

Wenn wir in Holland Urlaub waren, gingen wir auf dem Rückweg immer nach Rotterdam oder Den Haag vorbei, um chinesisches Essen in Chinatown zu essen. Da wir im Sommer vom Restaurant in Rotterdam enttäuscht waren, waren wir nach etwa vier Jahren wieder in Kaa Lun Palace. Das Essen war wie damals richtig lecker. Absolut empfehlenswert für Liebhaber von Kantonesischer Küche. Das Restaurant ist direkt im Zentrum von Den Haag und ideal für Touristen zum Mittagessen oder Abendessen. Wir gehen da mit Sicherheit beim nächsten Holland Trip wieder.

Love the interior design, love the nice people who are working there, BUT I mostly love there great menu of food. They have such a way with making there duck dishes (mostly order this every time because it’s very delicious) and they have a lot of shrimp dishes as well which makes me happy. 10/10 would eat here everyday so long my wallet would hold out.

Het eten was geweldig. Porties waren goed. Chasiew en spek waren lekker mals. Prijs waren nog redelijk vergelijken met prijzen in Rotterdam. Het restaurant is beetje ouderwets en zoals meeste chinese restaurant verleend ze geen service, bestellen, op eten en wegwezen maar ze zitten altijd vol 😃. De kracht van Chinese restaurant.

Kaa lun in The Hague offers an incredible Cantonese Chinese dining experience. The lotus dumplings and duck with crispy noodles were delightful, while the shrimps with noodles and spicy sour soup added a perfect touch of flavors. Buen sitio para comer, buen ambiente aunque eché de menos la carta en otros idiomas.

Het eten wat werd geserveerd is naar prijs verhouding prima. Er werd bij binnenkomst goed opgevangen door het personeel en service is prima. Volgende keer kom ik daar zeker terug.

This little gem is tucked away on Wagenstraat with the most delicious dim sum choices. We were 10 ladies from various backgrounds and the food was amazing. This was our second time visiting and they did not disappoint with either food or service. We’ll be back for sure.
