Amazed by the vibe, inner design, and cleanliness of the restaurant. It looks luxurious and peaceful inside. We came in a group of 5 after 2PM so it was quite quiet and chill. The dishes were quickly prepared (+/- 10m). I’d recommend the steamed fish with soya sauce and shrimp with garlic and vermicelli. The price isn’t crazily high as the portion is relatively sufficient.

Delicious, authentic Chinese cuisine. I keep coming back to try other dishes. I lived in China for years, and this cuisine is truly what you can taste there.

Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. The service was not particularly good either. The food was generally tasteless and certainly not what you would expect for this price. The chicken soup, in particular, was very disappointing; it tasted like a simple canned soup. The vegetables were not fresh, and the pork belly slices were also tasteless. It is a real shame, because we had expected more. Unfortunately, we do not recommend it.

Braised roast duck, egg noodles, dry-pot cauliflower… The chef is truly skilled; the seasoning is just right, not too salty or bland, oily but not greasy, highlighting the aroma of Sichuan cuisine. Perhaps only in big cities can you find this level of quality… Every dish was delicious! 👍👍👍

From the outside it looks very simple but inside, the whole atmosphere is calm and welcoming. The food was some of the best I've ever had (that's why I wanted to write this feedback) and the prices are really fair, especially the lunch deals! I had the sizzling beef set and it was truly delicious!

One of the better Sichuan restaurants I have been to. The dishes are full of flavor, well-spiced, and you can taste that they are cooked with authentic ingredients. The portions are generous, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is pleasant. If you love real Sichuan cuisine with rich and spicy flavors, then Hot King in The Hague is absolutely highly recommended. I will certainly be back here again.

Overall, the dishes looked okay (given the dim lighting, even beef head could be considered a male model). The taste was indescribable; Chinese people don't lie to Chinese people. Note: They also charge for tap water, €1 a cup. Century Egg Tofu: Bland and really just so-so. Dry Pot Pork Intestines: Large pieces; maybe the kitchen knife wasn't good. Not tasty. Spicy Wontons: Clearly wontons… not how wontons are made! Very small portion, only 5 in a bowl. Drinks: Each cup was about €6.50. Terrible; a combination of artificial coloring and flavoring. Avoid this!!!

The food was fine, but what disappointed us was the waiting time. We ordered two dishes and white rice and had to wait 40 minutes for them. We ordered white rice afterwards and that took 15 minutes. The food was tasty, but the long wait was a shame.

Bubble milk tea is supposed to have tapioca pearls—that’s basic. But this place uses popping boba instead. When people questioned it, they literally replied, “Kid, are you looking for a fight?” and then said, “There’s no actual squirrel in squirrel fish either.” So yeah, apparently they’re that professional—they think “pearl” in bubble milk tea means actual jewelry pearls. Honestly kind of wild. In the Netherlands, no bubble tea shop would swap tapioca pearls for popping boba like this. It’s pretty clear the owner doesn’t even understand the difference. What a shame!

Hygiene was shocking，we even saw a mouse in the store

Discriminatory treatment, hostile attitude, and unacceptable behavior. When we gave normal feedback, we were accused of causing trouble. The situation escalated to personal threats, making us feel unsafe. Very disappointing and concerning experience.

Food quality was very poor — not fresh, tasted bad, even found a hair in the dish. Portions were small and not worth the price. It feels like they are just relying on past reputation to attract customers. The bubble tea was especially disappointing — €6.5 for something that tasted like cheap instant milk tea powder (the kind you can buy for €0.5 in Asian supermarkets). Not worth it at all.

Very bad experience. After we finished eating, we tried to give some normal feedback, but the owner immediately said we were causing trouble on purpose. He became very aggressive and even made personal threats. He clearly said he would never apologize and that he doesn’t need customers like us. The attitude was honestly scary. We felt we were treated unfairly because we are Chinese. What made it even more disappointing is that the owner himself is also Chinese, but still treated us in a very disrespectful way. Overall, this place made us feel very unwelcome. Just sharing our experience so others can decide for themselves.

The situation escalated further when the conversation turned into disrespectful remarks toward younger customers. The tone was clearly belittling and insulting. Despite this, the owner showed no accountability and refused to apologize. Overall, the experience was not only disappointing in terms of service, but also deeply unpleasant due to the lack of basic respect for customers.

The food was bad, but that was not even the worst part of the experience. The food also appeared unhygienic, which made the situation even worse. The owner kept making racist remarks toward my Black friend, which was completely unacceptable and disgusting. On top of that, they verbally threatened us and claimed to be connected to the mafia in order to intimidate us. No customer should ever be treated this way. This place was hostile, unsafe, and deeply unprofessional. I strongly advise others to avoid this restaurant.

We came to The Hague specifically for a meal based on a friend's recommendation, but when we went to pay the bill, the owner verbally abused us, accusing us of nitpicking about the food and saying the restaurant didn't need our customers. The verbal altercation escalated, and he even threatened us, asking if we wanted to fight… Furthermore, the portions were small, the prices were high, and judging from the slow service, most of the dishes were pre-made. I hope everyone will carefully consider the service attitude section of this restaurant's negative reviews before coming; this is not an isolated incident. 😅

The atmosphere is quite nice, and some of the dishes are decent. However, the service was very disappointing. During my visit today, the owner had an argument with a customer and even appeared to threaten them by saying something like, “Do you want to fight?” The owner also said to the customer, “If you want me to apologize, keep dreaming.” I don’t know what exactly happened, but it was very unpleasant and really affected the dining experience. If you are looking for similar Sichuan-style food in The Hague, there are many other options. Overall, the food here is just average, and it is not really authentic Sichuan cuisine.

I had a very bad experience recently at this restaurant. I went there with my wife and our dog. The moment I entered through the door, a waitress came running from inside the restaurant, shouting, “Stop, stop.” I was completely bewildered and tried to understand what crime I might have committed. The lady did not allow us to go inside the restaurant. She asked, “Oh, you have come with a dog. Do you want to eat here?” I replied, “Yes, that’s why I am here.” She then showed us an isolated corner near the door and told us that we could only sit there. I was highly annoyed by the behaviour and wanted to leave immediately. However, my wife persuaded me not to leave, and we sat in that corner quietly to finish our dinner. I have vowed to myself that I will never come to this restaurant again. Another problem I see with this restaurant is that they never provide large plates so that customers can eat comfortably. They always serve food in a small bowl and on a small plate, which may be customary for local diners but is very inconvenient for others.

Of the five dishes, the other four were decent and tasted Chinese. However, the spicy diced chicken was really inauthentic; it was basically just deep-fried crispy pork! Also, they didn't provide serving chopsticks or spoons as is customary in China, which I suggest they improve.

The environment and service were great, and the twice-cooked pork was delicious.

We just ate here, but for us, it will be the last time. We ordered the beef tenderloin chili oil “mildly spicy,” a dish we had here before and which was well-balanced back then. This time, however, it was extremely spicy—and believe us, we are used to a lot. What was particularly disappointing was how this was handled. The staff indicated that the dish had turned out differently due to a change of chef, but did nothing further to resolve the issue or to try to find a solution with us. It does not feel like an appropriate response at all; that is not how you treat guests!

Was so looking forward to good Sichuan food but was dissapointed, ordered 4 things cumin lamb, salt and per shimp, dry chilli chicken (went for this) and fried rice. Only good thing was the shrimp, which was good an we finished it, everything else not very good. Plus they didn’t e ven bring me my white which I paid 3 euros for. And the service lady was horrible, the First Gentleman was good but he went home I guess and left us to her. First and last time here…very disappointed

This is one of the best, authentic Szechuan restaurants I know outside of China. People complaining about the spice level are nuts, how can you visit a Szechuan restaurant called HOT KING and then complain that its too spicy. Its very authentic and flavorful. Its not just spicy, as it should be, but also very aromatic. The quality of the food and variety of dishes is great! Service was good too, but ordering on the ipads was a little cumbersome. The staff was very helpful so it wasnt a big deal

Unpleasant waiter, food is average, basically felt like they were going to spit in our food from the moment we walked in. Would not come back

We went for dinner earlier this evening (Saturday), the location is quite central, easy to reach. Food is okay, not special, to me it’s over-priced for what you get. They were full house, with limited staff. Originally I thought some staff were not working tonight, but one waitress told me, this is their full crew. How could they handle a full house situation, we waited for 35 minutes for having the first dish. They did not bring the soup (supposed to be the first) but other warm dish. I requested the soup, the waitress told me if I want to have soup first served, I have to raise this request upon ordering, I asked isn’t it normal to serve soup first? This is the first time, also the last.

For just over thirty yuan, they could have robbed us, but they insisted on giving us a free serving of spicy blood curd. For that price, we could have gone to a local hot pot restaurant and added our own tripe, luncheon meat, and duck blood – the taste would have been better, and we could have eaten our fill. The other dishes were also quite average. The hygiene was also a bit poor; the leather seats next to us were covered in oil. 😅

If I'm not mistaken, Hotking is located in the former Full Moon building. We went on a Monday evening. There weren't many people there. The nasi is highly recommended.

I really enjoyed the tantan ramen and steamed crab. The atmosphere is also nice. Fresh draft Heineken beer. I will definitely come back. 👍

The food was ABSOLUTELY amazing!!!!!! Every dish was authentic sichuan kitchen and the personnel was so kind. The cold chicken dish is a must try and we enjoyed eating the coquille as well. Will definitely be back.

Tried several dishes for the first time, and everything was delicious. It's a cozy restaurant with a good atmosphere. The prices are reasonable, compared to other restaurants in The Hague. The only downside is the tablet you use to place orders. It was very slow, so it sometimes wasn't clear whether an order had gone through. We once ordered twice, but luckily the staff realized that wasn't the intention.

Overall decent chinese restaurant that is ready to greet non-Chinese customers. We were very torn between the two places on the street but chose this one as it looked more "interesting". Maybe owing to the time of the day - Friday night - the overall atmosphere was a bit hectic. The server forgot one of the dishes we ordered, and when we were about to cancel it, the last dish was served. Nonetheless, this is a good chinese restaurant. The food tastes good and the portion is quite generous. (bearing in mind the normal food prices in the city, I would argue that the price is not that bad either). Wanton soup was good, and beef braised noodle soup was decent. The server- though he forgot one of the orders - was very polite and pleasant about it. This is something not so common in many chinese restaurants in western Europe. (Having been to 30+ chinese restaurants in 6 countries over the past 5 years, I think I can dare to seni-generalise...). We may come back to try other dishes.)!

Beautifully decorated restaurant. There was a drinks reception on Saturday with many noisy guests, who kept going outside to smoke. The door opened and closed and then opened and closed again. The staff didn't have enough time for the diners. We waited over an hour for Peking duck and pancakes.

I have heard of the reputation of La Wang Fu for a long time, and I went to try it in The Hague this time. The waiter greeted me warmly when I entered the door, and the environment was clean and tidy. The service was worthy of recognition. However, as a restaurant specializing in Sichuan cuisine, the performance of the dishes was really unsatisfactory, and even a little regrettable. Boiled fish: The fish meat was salty, the taste was not fresh and tender enough, the aroma of pepper and bean paste was almost not reflected, and the overall flavor was bland. Twice-cooked pork: Sichuan cuisine's twice-cooked pork is characterized by thin slices in the shape of lanterns, spicy and rich, but the meat slices here are thicker, the aroma of bean paste and chili is insufficient, and the ingredients are so shabby that only a few lonely garlic shreds are left. Can this be called twice-cooked pork? However, this sweet and sour pork is not as good as the Chinese restaurants in ordinary small villages that do business with Dutch people. Here are some suggestions from the bottom of my heart for the managers of Spicy Palace Strengthen chef training, especially the control of the core flavor of Sichuan cuisine. Optimize ingredients and seasoning to ensure that the dishes reach the expected level. Pay attention to detail maintenance, such as timely repair of facilities and keeping the environment clean, such as hygiene - the door handle of the men's bathroom is shaky, as if mocking the customer's patience, and the cleaning level is worrying. The location and service of La Wang Fu are good, and it could have become a highlight of Chinese food in The Hague, but the current quality of the dishes is really hard to recommend. I hope that there will be some improvements in the future to live up to the name of the signboard.

The four of us had hotpot here. The staff was very friendly and explained which soup he recommended and how we could eat it. The service was excellent and the taste was authentic and delicious. This was the second time we came back. I would like to come again with my family.

Decent Szechuan food in the town. As a 🌶️ lover I opted for extra spicy and it was just very good! The food is on the sweeter side in my opinion but would recommend if anybody is craving for some spicy for the day

The squirrel fish was not good, it was ketchup and pre-fried fish, it tasted like fish and chips. The pork with garlic sauce was not good either, it was the same garlic sauce with pork as the garlic vermicelli scallops, the pork was cut well, but the taste was wrong, it was basically good, but it was not the taste of Sichuan pork with garlic sauce at all. Normal spice was not spicy at all! No spiciness

Fantastic Chinese restaurant in Chinatown The Hague! I come here more often because I think the food and service are good. It's nice that this restaurant still sticks to dishes that are truly Chinese, we are not talking about foe yong hai or babi pangang here. No, here you can really try the dishes that they also have in China. This place takes me back to my home country where I was adopted and my dear family and friends live! I definitely recommend this place!

There is a problem with food safety!! Boiled beef is super strange. There is a lot of cinnamon in it, which is not delicious at all. It is weird to put cinnamon in Sichuan cuisine. Then we gave feedback to the waiter, but she just said it is nothing wrong with the food, and we were the only ones responding to this(a bit arrogant). Not long after, we felt nauseous and vomited. I guessed that the beef was not fresh so put a lot of cinnamon to cover up the taste and smell, or there were other hygiene problems. After eating the boiled beef, I vomited and broke into a cold sweat. The food is unhygienic and not tasty! I am already a regular customer, but this time my experience was very bad!

Spicy Prince's Mansion Now The store is a big bully. The waiter's attitude is a bit neurotic. He must explain the truth clearly to the customer. His attitude is extremely bad and even unbelievable. I would not recommend it.

In the 1990s I lived in China for a number of years where I became addicted to Szechuan cuisine. Especially the 'dry fried beef'. It took decades before I came across a restaurant outside China that prepares this dish - albeit with chicken instead of beef - in the same way. Hot King knows how to match the taste. Really fantastic, even as take-out. The eggplant is also a trip down memory lane. Definitely worth a try!

Interesting presentation of dishes and decor of the room with pleasant background music, nothing special in taste for me, I didn’t like the staff - none of the guests smile, working with a straight face - I don’t think I can recommend this place to my friends and tourists.
