Kaap West in Osdorp-Oost

Wow! Absolutely delicious. I went out to dinner at Kaap with my mom yesterday, and we had such a great time. The food arrived quickly, the service was excellent, and it wasn't overwhelming. We finished everything and were completely full. The atmosphere is cozy, the interior is beautifully decorated, and we paid a fair price for such delicious food.

The millennial playlist was awesome!

The servers behavior was strange and uncomfortable. They were sighing at us and repeatedly staring while talking to each other, which made us feel unwelcome.

This restaurant doesn't know what constitutes normal food and service. We ordered a ribeye steak yesterday, but they brought us chunks of meat instead. They simply cut off a larger piece, and blood came out... (we'd asked for well-done). They recooked it, but then just brought us some grilled slices. I'd be so quick to rip a chef's hands off in my own restaurant for cooking like that. The waiters also didn't bring the steak tartare I ordered, even after I repeated it twice! Therefore, my rating is a 0.

Kaap West is truly my favorite lunch spot in Amsterdam West. I eat here regularly, and every time, the lunch is well-prepared and delicious. The service is always incredibly fast, making it a no-brainer for me to come back. No complaints whatsoever. Keep up the good work! A perfect ten!

The waitress and bartender: unqualified and disinterested. They'd rather take pictures with friends while we wait. The only good thing is the kitchen. Never again!! Sorry, kitchen crew.

We sat for a while and didn't get a menu - had to ask for one. They said they were confused and thought we already ordered which is why they didn't give us a menu Then in a fairly empty restaurant it also took really long to bring us some drinks

We came with high hopes — beautiful lake view, good weather, and a quiet atmosphere. My husband and I arrived at 16:50 and placed our order for drinks and food (we were told the kitchen opened at 17:00 but we could already order). We asked for a steak and a burger. I’m 8 months pregnant, and we were both quite hungry after a long doctor’s visit. We were happy to wait, but unfortunately, no one brought our food or checked on us for over an hour — in a nearly empty restaurant. When we finally asked what was going on, it turned out our order wasn’t even entered. No apology. Food came 20 minutes later — steak arrived without cutlery, which I had to ask for. When we paid, no one asked how it was. The service felt cold and careless. No apology for making us wait 1 hour and 20 minutes. We left disappointed, and I couldn’t enjoy the meal at all. Beautiful place, but sadly ruined by the service.

We had a fantastic meal, simply delicious! It's a lovely, atmospheric place. The only downside, we found, was that it took ages to be seen and helped, which lasted the entire time we were there. We ended up leaving after our main course. There were also a lot of flies; our plates weren't cleared afterward, so the flies kept coming. It's a real shame. I would have loved to have dessert there too. 🍽️😔

This is a beautiful location for any season, but especially in summer. We sat outside and enjoyed the view and the weather. The service is a different story. The lady who took our order forgot what we'd ordered. She came twice to ask what drinks we'd ordered. Then another colleague came to ask what we'd ordered. It's a shame. The cocktails and mocktails are really subpar, especially for those prices. The snacks are truly mediocre. The cheese spring roll wasn't particularly special, but it's exactly what you get from Appie. I wouldn't go back. It's a shame, because it's a great location. But the overall experience should definitely be at least 4 stars (from the Google review). The young ladies really need to be more customer-friendly and learn a lot more about the business. Young doesn't mean you don't know what you're doing, but if you're there, you need to be dedicated to service and be professional. I certainly wish them progress for the betterment of their customers.

I didn't think the service was all that great, as if no one wanted to work. The highchairs for children are really dangerous; one was folded up while my child was sitting in it, and according to them, that's how it's supposed to be. 😅 Tuna melt with unmelted cheese, bread rock hard... not worth €11 at all. For that money, I'd rather go to Subway; at least you get more toppings and a sauce. But hey, you're really paying for the location here; unfortunately, the quality has deteriorated.

A stylish spot for drinks with colleagues The restaurant has a pleasant, cozy atmosphere – a great place to catch up or relax. It's especially suitable for meeting colleagues for coffee or an after-work drink. The service is excellent, although not particularly impressive or personal. The prices are a bit high, especially considering what you get, but the ambiance makes up for it. All in all: great for an informal meeting, especially because of the atmosphere and location. Not a must-go for a full dinner, but definitely worth a short visit.

First of all, many thanks to the entire team who provided us with neat service and a qualitatively tender menu yesterday. There is something for everyone. The interior is chic and relaxing. Especially situated on the waterfront full of greenery. The prices are also reasonable and we will gladly come back. This is a top location before a theater performance in the Meervaart.

The food was delicious, the view is great and the decor is beautiful. The music is blaring, the tables close together and the service... well... Friendly welcome but taking orders was a bit more difficult. Service is simply clumsy. Three people around you serving left and right. Slamming dishes on the table. When clearing the table, the plates were emptied between us with a sigh on 1 plate. Dirty cutlery was put on the table. And then that was put on top of the pile of plates: it was just hilarious. Popular kitchen theatre. Super friendly, everyone, but this really shouldn't be in a restaurant. I read here that it was the same a year ago. Put some energy into etiquette please.

We visited as a group of seven and were genuinely impressed with the food. Every dish was delicious and very well priced. It’s clear the kitchen team puts effort into what they serve, and we really appreciated that. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. From the start, the waiting staff didn’t come across as very welcoming. One of the waitresses in particular seemed like she may have been having a tough day, which happens, but it affected the overall atmosphere and the way we were treated. Our food arrived before our drinks, which felt a bit disorganised. We had ordered two cocktails, a bottle of wine, a bottle of water, and an iced tea. Even if the cocktails take time to prepare, it would have been helpful to at least receive the water earlier. It’s not ideal to start a meal without anything to drink. I personally waited around 20 minutes before being told that the cocktail I ordered was no longer available. After that, I had to remind the staff three times that I would still like a drink with my meal. When it finally arrived, it was placed on the table in a way that felt quite dismissive, which was disappointing given that I had been polite the entire time. When it came time to pay, we mentioned that we were unhappy with the service. The waitress told us she would pass on the feedback and call the manager, but no one came. After waiting a few minutes, we decided to leave so we wouldn’t let the situation affect the rest of our evening. As we were heading out, we saw the same waitress chatting behind the bar. We asked if she had spoken to the manager and she admitted she hadn’t. When we tried to explain our concerns again, she walked away mid-conversation. Luckily, her colleague stepped in, asked what had happened, and apologized sincerely which we appreciated. It’s unfortunate that it took that long for someone to acknowledge the issue. A bit more attentiveness and openness from the staff would have gone a long way in turning the experience around. To sum up, the food was excellent and worth returning for, but the service left a lot to be desired. We hope this feedback is taken on board so future guests can enjoy both the food and the experience equally.

Amazing view, pretty good food, nice mocktails and drinks. Service not super friendly and there is this person, most likely the owner/manager, his vibe kills the vibe unfortunately.

Edit: After my visit today, after 25 minutes still not being helped, but I did see the staff having lunch together and chatting at the bar, but I decided to leave. Not something I will repeat. It is a nice location and the service is nice, but you have to wait a very long time before you are helped. There often seems to be too little attention for the customer. When you have ordered something, no one comes to ask if everything is to your liking, and not to ask a while later when you have finished eating if they can do anything for you. Improving these kinds of small things would make this place better.

Nice place to chill out especially when there is nice weather far from the tourist area. At last a decent coffee!

Eten was prima, we werden door een aardige jonge man geholpen. Maar een van de oudere dames heeft ontzettend haar been gestoten aan een kapotte sofa, tot bloedens toe. Jonge man was heel behulpzaam. Maar eigenaar deed geen moeite om even te komen kijken of er hulp nodig was en op z’n minst de dame in kwestie een drankje aan te bieden🙈 heel onsympathiek

La comida era increíble, y el paisaje en un buen día sentado fuera es precioso. La presentación de la comida era muy buena y había mucha variedad de cosas para elegir en el menú y el precio es justo. Si tuviera que decir algo negativo sería que el servicio es un poco lento. Tardamos un poco en recibir nuestras bebidas y los tenedores y cuchillos salieron después de nuestra comida. Pero está bien y definitivamente volveré. También las chicas sirviendo eran agradables.

Leuke tent, leuke meiden heerlijk eten. Enige nadeel is dat ik onlangs daar was en dichtbij de bar zat en de leidinggevende erg hoorde schreeuwen naar het jonge personeel. Dit maakte mij erg oncomfortabel omdat ik met mijn gezin aan tafel alles hoorde. Vrouwelijke leidinggevende keek ook steeds super geïrriteerd en ongeïnteresseerd. Verder hele fijne restaurant.

Mooie locatie aan het water en mooi van binnen maar dan heb je het wel gehad. Personeel jong en onervaren. Kijken niet om zich heen, iets bijbestellen? Ze zien je niet dus zelf steeds naar de bar lopen. Zonde van zo een mooie zaak. Hooguit voor koffie ivm locatie maar om als betalende gast te genieten ga ik voortaan elders. Tip: leidt t personeel eerst op, dan heb je meerprofijt van deze zaken tevreden gasten. .

Mooi pand binnen en buiten. Menu ziet er goed uit. Prijzen boven gemiddeld. De bediening is onervaren en ongeïnteresseerd . Tafels zijn vies of er staan nog vuile borden/ glazen op. Je moet naar ze toe om iets voor elkaar te krijgen .Voor het prijssegment verwacht je meer ervaren personeel op de vloer.Jammer

Well good overall by service is slow and usually inexperienced personnel.

Het eten is lekker, maar bediening niet op orde. Meerdere keren brachten ze een bestelling van een ander tafeltje. Mensen die een extra stoel bijtrokken kregen te horen dat dat niet de bedoeling was (kun je ook charmanter oplossen: “ik haal even een stoel voor u, deze hoort bij die andere tafel” ipv “dat is niet de bedoeling” en gelijk de stoel wegtrekken). Je voelt je dus niet erg welkom.

The restaurant had a nice atmosphere and was nice and quiet during the week. The smell of the BBQ (or similar) did cause discomfort and the food was unfortunately also mediocre. I won't be coming back here for dinner, but perhaps lunch is worth another chance.

Wow, what a shame about this case. I used to come here regularly, but I didn't go for a while due to a long illness, but unfortunately I won't be back again. Combination of loud/not atmospheric music, service that gives you the feeling that they don't feel like it, not allowed to sit in the corner benches unless you are a group of 6 (never used to be a problem) and an avocado toast with a poached egg, which was so small (end of the bread), it was just embarrassing to ask 11 euros for it. I don't necessarily need to be treated like a queen, but this goes the other way, which is a shame.

Beautiful location in Osdorp! Pretty tasty food with pretty nice service. Food was way too salty and coffee arrived lukewarm, but otherwise it was quite ok. Although I really expected a bit more for that price. Nice job with those Prunus trees!

I had a carrot burger and that is not recommended. In combination with the bread it became a clayey mass. I left it there. I think the carrot burger has too much moisture in it, making the bun soggy. The carrot burger is not included in the vegetarian dishes, although it is vegetarian. Explanation: it is not vegan... I hope you understand. In addition, there were two beers on the bill, while I had only ordered 1. Sloppy! The main courses are expensive (about 30 euros) if you don't limit yourself to the burgers. Finally, I think the tables are a bit too close together. And it is very dark there...... The service is OK. The rest of the guests (there were four of us) were more positive about Cape West

Truly one of my favorite places in Osdorp for lunch. The service is sometimes a bit slow, but they are friendly. Beautiful view over the Sloterplas. The red fruit/chocolate pancakes are my favorite.

I recently tried the tom kha khai soup and it was absolutely delicious! The flavors were perfectly balanced and it was a real treat for my taste buds. In addition, the staff was incredibly friendly and caring, which made the experience even better. Definitely recommended for anyone who likes tasty soup!

Friendly staff, fast service and tasty food

Ate here for the first time on Saturday evening. We were 15 people, some of whom didn't arrive until 1 hour later, but that was no problem for the friendly and attentive staff. There is a varied menu, all 15 meals were served simultaneously and the quality of the food was good. We will definitely come back here because of the location and the atmosphere.

Such a beautiful location. Would love to come there. Lovely terrace overlooking the Sloterplas. Lunch menu is good with enough choice. Only the staff... they are very nice but not attentive and "present". Have tables cleaned, you have to beckon if you want to order something. And sometimes you don't see them at all or they are on their phone. This is a great shame and a missed opportunity. You earn more if the staff comes by again to ask if you want something to drink... and what a shame, the tap in the toilet has been loose for weeks. Why? This location has so much potential...

Really bad service. But very delicous food. So the reason that i definitely will skip this beautiful place is just because of the very very very bad service. Maybe the baddest service i've ever had in Amsterdam. The waitress did let us feel very bad. She did let us wait for more than 20 minutes. After that she really ignored us. I think that the manager Y, really should consider another team of waitresses. The food is really really good. But I and 5 other friends will definitely skipp this place because of the female waitresses who really could better work at Zara with their arrogance and attitude.

Food could be better, asparagus was raw, teriyaki does not fit with sea bream fillet! The ribeye didn't really have any flavor to say wow! Received wrong order! Prawns were cold! No bread, but a beautiful restaurant! Fries were great! Only you had to ask for sauce twice and it was a bit expensive!

Beautiful location but very rude service. Monday at 2.45 pm "received" by a girl who sent us outside to find a table ourselves. We were then ignored for half an hour. After another guest was helped earlier and we had to look for menus ourselves, we politely asked how long it would take. The tone that followed was so rude that we walked away with an empty stomach. La casa di josper is a little further away where you can expect better service and hospitality. The same goes for Red Elephant (around the corner).

Los apoyamos lo antes posible después del Covid a pesar de que dejaron de servir nuestra ensalada de ternera tailandesa favorita. ¡Ahora está de vuelta en el menú, pero todo se agotó hoy! Así que pedimos Veggie hamburguesa € 19 , 50 incluyendo patatas fritas. Viene con mayonesa por estilo holandés. En el pasado a menudo pedimos ketchup de tomate por estilo americano. Sorprendido al ver en la factura € 1 cargo por cada uno! ¿Qué es este McDonalds? También 3 , 50 cobran por 2 piezas de pan mediocre. Necesitamos encontrar un nuevo lugar.

Super tasty food! Everything was great!

The atmosphere is great. However the service level is awful. It took the staff 20 minutes to get us a menu after getting us seated (had to specifically go up and ask for one). When we visited, there were only a few other tables busy and about five waiters at the front standing around talking to each other. They seemed upset whenever we needed to order anything.

We had late lunch here on Saturday afternoon. The best thing of this place it’s the location as it is placed in a very nice spot. The place has very high prices, which we would be happy to spend if the food and the service were up to the standards this kind of pricing requires. The lady at the entrance was quite nice, whilst the waitress really made us feel not welcomed, never ever shared a smile with us and even rolled her eyes when we called her at one point. I did not order a 26 euros slice of fish to be looked at like I am bothering someone with my presence. The food is OK, but absolutely nothing special considering the price. While the view and the surroundings were very nice, the premise was comfortable, but dusty and shabby. If you want to charge 30 euros for a meal, then you should make sure the client gets a 30 euros worth service, 30 euros a meal worth chef and a neat premise.

Cozy atmosphere and reasonable food, too expensive for what they deliver. You shouldn't miss Holtkamp's dessert. But what bad service, staff is very bad. Serve in front of you. They leave your table empty and have no insight at all.

First the positive: -The waiters are youngsters who were very kind . The atmosphere is lovely but other than that , my seat was leaning against the front of the next table beside. The food was disappointing , my burger was raw in the center and it was too bland , no bacon or caramelised onions , no salad on the side with the fries . No salt and pepper shakers to season yourself.

The location is absolutely good and you have a wonderful view over the water. The atmosphere inside is excellent, what a beautiful interior. The food is fine, although the order was not completely correct. What's really a shame is the service. That leaves a lot to be desired. We have been in contact several times about the reservation, but they still did not know that we were coming. Once we got there we got a call because they thought we weren't there yet. Furthermore, we received little attention, so we ended up having 1 drink. A little more attention to the service would quickly be an improvement.

Recently had dinner at Kaap-West for the first time with my wife. After reading reviews that were not always positive, we thought it was worth a try. Finally drove that way after making a reservation in advance. We both ordered something to eat and something to drink. My wife had a chicken satay and I had a burger in addition to some small things. Less than 20 minutes after eating my wife started feeling severely nauseous and less than an hour later the vomiting started. My wife went through hell that same night. Extreme stomach cramps while lying on the bed with a bucket next to her, she stayed awake all night. Slowly it started to dawn on me that it was food poisoning and that it had to come from Cape West as my wife had hardly eaten anything all day. Her first previous meal was at least 6 hours before. Finally called the owner and he said it was probably the satay. It is now almost a week later and my wife is still devastated by stomach cramps, headaches, nausea and vomiting. I eventually got my money back but no money is worth the condition my wife is in right now. Be careful what you eat here.

Beautiful spot on the Sloterplas. Inside it is standard hip chic with a large tree with brightly colored blossoms. Very instagrammable. Nothing wrong with that in itself. As usual, the service is nothing to write home about. Nice girls, but they are more concerned with each other than with the customer. Coffee was fine.

In the middle of lively Osdorp you will find yourself wonderfully quiet at Kaap West. The large windows offer you a wide view of the Sloterplas and the greenery. The pastries are from Holtkamp, ​​so delicious. Sitting outside? That is also possible, there is a lovely terrace in the summer. Parking is paid. It would be nice if the service was a bit smoother and more attentive. The menu could also have more variety, such as yoghurt-fruit bowl and beef croquettes.

Locatie is mooi langs het water, het zag er binnen mooi uit. HELAAS slechte service en een attitude van de manager. Toen ik aangaf niet tevreden te zijn met de sparibs. Zie foto. (Sparibs bestond uit 90% vet en rook chemisch) kreeg ik alleen een defensieve houding van de manager, IK had het eerder moeten aangeven en kreeg verder geen excuses. Er werd hierna niet meer naar ons om gekeken. Aan onze tafel werd 2x sparreribs besteld, allebei waren niet te eten. Het kan natuurlijk voorkomen dat er iets misgaat in de keuken maar de manier waarop er gereageerd werd is niet professioneel en stelt me teleur.

This place has a lovely setting. But I feel the food quality has gone down since they first opened, so I stick to coffee and desserts. The service is also very slow and it always feels like the staff feel bothered having to serve the customers. Dont enjoy going as much as before.

I live a stone's throw away and eat there with many former students. I enjoy the jackfruit burger, but also the shrimp, the desserts, etc. etc. The prices are okay, the atmosphere is casual. I am a fan!!

Never experienced anything like this before, it was my first and also my LAST time at this restaurant! What an exaggerated hype, my food arrived within an hour, clearly indicated what should be in my burger, but the opposite was done. Just like it couldn't get any worse, BONES, CHICKEN BONES came out of my burger and mouth????? What poor service and menu really disgusting!

Ate here for the first time. First read the reviews and took the chance. I first ordered bitterballen and vitello tonato. Bitterballen were delicious, vitello tonato also delicious, but if you look at the price, the portion is very meager... the veal roast beef was very small. Flavors were very tasty. Then ordered the spare ribs, you paid 30 euros for 4 ribs!!!! Had to wait a very long time. I have often eaten spare ribs elsewhere and you really get 6 to 7 ribs there. Here there were only 4 and were full of fat. I got two extra ribs but they were also sickly sweet and full of fat. Didn't touch any meat at all. Fries not included had to ask twice for my fries. The mojito was very pricey and just not tasty. Just soda with a dash of syrup. Shame! I hope they do something with these reviews because it's not bad, most flavors are just good. But the price/quality is not what it should be.

Fave beef salad was gone for awhile, now back on menu! One chef, 2 waitresses and one bar lady so you better be relaxed when you come here as service is slow. But people are friendly and food delicious so we are happy it has survived the initial lockdown
