Kam Yin in Bijlmer Centrum (D,F,H)

We liked it so much that we ate there more than once; some of the best Chinese food I've ever had.

Food is ok but the service is mediocre, language is not a barrier of politeness.

Unfortunately, I received extremely unfriendly service! The employee initially made me wait for at least five minutes and wandered around the kitchen. Finally, he came over without greeting me and just looked at me like, "What do you want?" I asked what was in a snack, and he said, "Nothing." In other words, get out of here! I then left without buying anything because I felt so awful. And I'm not going to leave it at that.

Surinamese & Chinese fusion. This is a beloved local spot for working every day Amsterdammers. No frills. No tourist bs. No American style smiling customer service. You come, your order, you eat the food, you laugh & smile with your friends about how good it is and you leave. You can’t grow up in this neighborhood without coming to this spot. People come for the food & the familiarity. We got roti, chicken satay, noodles with chicken and prawns. Also - they have all the spicy peppers & sauces you need on the table. If you’re an influencer or a tourist looking for something fancy just stay away and leave this to the locals.

Let me start by saying that today my friend visited this place and as you can see he ordered something that looked like a mess. You cant even tell if its chicken or fish. It looks like somebody have stepped on that dish with their bare feet just like the streets of mumbai. As soon as he uploaded the picture, 5 girls unfollowed him on instagram. One of his cousins transferred him some money. Even his dad decided to come back home after 18 years. I dont know what to say honestly, Sid haven’t been the same since then. And the worst part is thqt they had the gut to charge him for this My condolences goes too Sid and his family, get well soon budy!

The staff was agitated and spoke unclearly. Furthermore, the "Surinamese" nasi was far from Surinamese. It tasted like brown rice without any seasoning, making it incredibly dry. For a moment, it felt like I was eating Chinese white rice. Quite hard and not tasty. I had to search incredibly hard for the chicken in the nasi, but I absolutely could NOT find it. I was already home when I unpacked my food; otherwise, I would have sent it back. I advise everyone against eating anything Surinamese here. If you mess up your nasi like that, I don't need to know about your other dishes. Although, I can't judge their "Chinese" dishes, which they perhaps specialize in more. I didn't find it a pleasant experience and I especially miss the money I spent on it, especially in these times of crisis. It's no small feat, nephew.

You go here for delicious Surinamese food. Right before a concert, for example. Not to use the restroom. It's downright filthy when it's busy. Don't peek in the kitchen. Rob Geus doesn't give it many stickers, which doesn't make him happy. The food. Delicious. Surinamese noodles. Moksi. Pork belly. Surinamese sausage. And of course, wash it down with Fernández red or green. Next time again. But I'll go to the restroom at home.

Yesterday I ordered rice with brown beans and pieces of salted meat in tomato sauce, it was quite a search for salted meat and the tomato sauce was sour

Today I thought I'd treat myself to a portion of tjaumin... but unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. The tjaumin was unusually brown and tasteless, the chicken was dry, and the fa shong tasted a bit rancid. Next time, I'll just cook it myself and save my money!

Ate here while visiting Ziggo. I've never experienced such unsympathetic, even rude, service. That older lady with glasses should be sent home. She almost threw the "November" plate in front of us. I always said "Thank you!", all the other diners at the time were outraged. 🤨 All the other ladies were friendlier. The food was good. My roti was lukewarm and cold in the middle. I had to have it reheated. First time, last time.

They forgot certain things on our dish, we've been here several times and told the waitress. Then we got charged extra at the end. Pointed it out at the bill and the comment was ''We should'v told her earlier'' and its ''no money issue for you''

Today I had tjauwmin with roasted pork. It's a great restaurant for a bite to eat. Not expensive.

The staff/owner is stiff and unfriendly. The food is delicious, which is ultimately a bonus because of the atmosphere.

No aircon or fan inside the restaurant specifically weather is so hot . Food was great, big portion.

Ate here this evening after walking over from our accommodation (Hotel Levell). The walk was about 15 minutes so not long at all! The food was fresh, delicious and quick. There are a wide variety of different options on the menu that are reasonably priced. Would recommend this place to tourists! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Order and pick up always saves me time

This was our go to restaurant for a quick bite for 15+ years. On our last visit, the quality of the food had significantly declined. It lacked the freshness and care it once had. Perhaps there's a new owner or chef? Whatever the reason, it's no longer the same place. Sadly, we won't be back.

I went to Kam Ying today. I thought long ago, I'm going to get a portion. Once inside, it was quite busy, people waiting for their orders. Okay, I'm standing in line. The Chinese man behind the counter acted as if someone from his family had died. Not interested at all, or anything. The woman asked for me, "Do you have any other toppings for the sandwiches?" Then no answer for 20 seconds, then I started pointing, this and that. "Once I'd seen that," I said loudly. "I'm not buying anything here because the politeness is gone. It's all about the money, nothing more. I'll never go to this place again." Then I went to the competitor where they take your order much more enthusiastically. So, Kam Ying, work on your presentation and enthusiasm.

Rude staff, very dismissive. Left us waiting not engaging never coming back here. Service is terrible

Look, I understand why you give each other a 3.9, but of course that makes no sense at all. That is because of your image of service. If people don't smile at you, you get grumpy. That is not necessary at all, because that is just how it goes. The food is great, more than good. If you just smile and praise everything incredibly, everyone will just smile too. So from me, and I should know, because I have been all over Asia and Suriname, this place gets a big 5 on everything!

I got a portion of nasi with chicken, nasi was really inedible. It is dry and really dark brown, a lot of ketjap? It tastes salty and no other flavor. Not recommended!!

Fantastic food for a very small price. Service is average. Ambience is less important here than the quality of the food. It tasted like I was eating at my mother's house. It is always very busy here so you are lucky if there is a table available or if there is one.

Have been coming to Kam Yin regularly for years when I am in the Netherlands. Had picked up 2 months ago, quite a large order. Come home to find out that I have not received 5 things: 3 bara and 2 bojo. So I call, they do not answer. I come back after 2 months (I live in Belgium), I tell my story, the lady says yes that is not possible we do not forget 5 things and it has been too long. I said that I had called, to which she replied yes we never answer. Too bad about Kam Yin, have been a loyal customer for years.

Very tasty food, Pom Taier and Pom portion, very very tasty. The spicy is very spicy.

Every time I am in Amsterdam, I have to stop by Kam Yin. The food here is very tasty. This time I started with a small chicken soup – full of flavour and perfect as a starter. Then I enjoyed Surinamese nasi with chicken special and Chinese seasonal vegetables in garlic sauce, which was tasty but too greasy. Instead of white rice I chose bami, which turned out to be a great combination. As a drink I had orgeat with milk – a Surinamese almond drink – creamy and fresh! The quality is always good, the flavours are rich and balanced. The service is efficient and fast, without compromising on quality. And I really appreciate that.

I ordered a few nasi chicken specials and only got nasi chicken back This after I emphatically asked the lady if it was correct. Her answer: "yes yes yes" (to get rid of you it seemed) ..... I ordered 46.40 euros worth of food, the woman only gave me 3 bags of yellow pepper, I said against hate, gave me 3 more because it was not enough pepper, she wanted that extra, had to pay for that, that's good, it's the last time I buy food here, adios

Bad food I ordered a tjauwmin moksi meti and a nasi last week My son and I got food poisoning 😭 I will never buy food there again!!

Went for the first time a few days ago and ordered surinamese fried noodles with chicken pieces… once arrived home I was so disappointed, large amount of noodles, with maybe 5/6 pieces of chicken and zero love on that container. I told the lady was my first time in that restaurant, little bit more effort to make me a customer would have been appreciated. Never going back.

Good value for money, only the fried banana looks like an old microwave banana, Surinamese nasi with pork for € 9.70 is a great deal.

We had bought 5 portions of tjaumin and nasi with moksi meti. When we got home some portions only had two pieces of chicken others 4 as I am used to, please report that. You either get sambal or that onion pepper, and you pay for a bag. Saleswoman rolled her eyes when I asked for onion pepper instead of sambal. The food was otherwise good as always.

We asked take away, they did not even put napkins and spoons.

The food is very tasty and fresh. It is often busy so it is a slightly faster service. They have a lot of dishes and it's definitely worth the wait.

Menu has become more expensive and portions have become smaller. Not all staff members understand Dutch well. The taste of food is also different nowadays. Perhaps only the name Kam Yin is now used and it no longer belongs to the real owner.

Price and quality ratio is not in balance. They used to be great years ago; far from it now. There are better alternatives in the center.

The business has been in the Amsterdamse Poort for years. We have one in town too. The food is delicious, take away is an option, but you can also eat on site. Come here a few times a year, I keep noticing that you experience inferior service when picking up. That's a shame, because it would make the experience a lot better. Parking is easy in the parking garages with entrances around the Bijlmerdreef.

Price-quality ratio here is very good. The taste of food is much better on the Bijlmerplein than on the Warmoesstraat.

Authentic for the Bijlmer, where local people also come to eat. Not very modern and a bit dark, but that also has its charm.

Good afternoon, I would like a shrimp sandwich and a fried cod sandwich... Rolls are filled and first heated in the microwave, then crushed in a toaster grill, long... ...that's €10.90 please. Bye Bakkeljauw sandwich tasted good, a bit sweet and a bit dry, but not bad. The shrimp sandwich tasted like soy sauce and the shrimp were just not chewy. My tip, use fresher rolls next time, and make the filling for the rolls fresh daily so that it is less dry.

The food was like a mess and I felt sick for half an hour afterwards. The rice and sauce we tried tasted like it had been left in the kitchen and warmed up. The decorative cucumber had expired. Shortly afterwards I complained to the waitress, who neither accepted the criticism nor wanted to lower the price and also shouted at me across the shop.

Chicken with black bean sauce, certainly not a bowl full like it once was before the pandemic. The sauce was barely a tablespoon and a half full. We have always loved getting our oriental meals here. Compared to the 2019 menu list, they have become almost €5.00 more expensive for every €10.00, with smaller portions and the good taste of the past, which has almost completely disappeared... we have lost them.

The food was super spicy. I indicated that I come to eat with my family at least once a week. And always the same order. But this was simply inedible. But she didn't really care. Came for a bite to eat before a concert. The service is really very mediocre. You can't help but smile, people look at you blankly, they speak very limited Dutch and person 1's order is brought quietly ten minutes later after person 2's order. The food itself was quite good. I have often been treated badly in this place, but the lady in a short tennis skirt yesterday really took the cake. I order my fried rice with chicken because I am allergic to shrimp. The lady brings a plate of fried rice with the largest shrimp ever. Then they get angry at me because I don't eat shrimp and think I have to pay for them. Then she goes to the kitchen to get a plate of nasi with chicken and it came straight from the freezer (forgot to heat it up or something). When I spoke to her, she threw the food in the microwave for 8 minutes on the highest setting, so my chicken was completely scorched. When she saw that I wasn't eating and wanted to write a review, she offered me a normal piece of chicken, but by then my appetite was already gone. I paid 50 cents for a bowl and gave the food away to a homeless person outside and apologized in advance if I didn't like it. Reminded me of the day my mother bought a long bean sandwich with shrimps and only found 2 and a half small shrimp in the sandwich and they thought there was not much shrimp in it as it was called long bean with shrimp and not shrimp with long beans 🤷🏽 ‍♀️ 🤷🏾‍♀️

One of the night sin Amsterdam we ventured in here for our dinner and damn it was a good choice. Place was really busy but we werent waiting too long for a table. The staff were professional and friendly. The restaurant had a good ambience. The food was finger licking gorgeous. Had to remind them a few times about getting another round of drinks but other than that spot on.

The food tastes good. But I have already made two visits where I asked in advance to warm up the food properly...... Unfortunately, you still get a lukewarm plate of food, which is a shame

Never again! What a disappointment!! This tent has seriously deteriorated!! You don't have to be here for customer service. It's too busy, so you get snubbed by waitresses and are literally turned away to eat quickly and then get out again 🙈 wonton soup tasted of nothing and noodles were also completely tasteless. It used to be good here, but now it's just bad!!!!

A moksi sandwich with very little meat, little taste and tough. I was so looking forward to it. It's a shame that the place we used to visit twice a week has become so much worse. No more Kam yin for us.

Interior is old/dark, but the food is amazingly delicious! Something for everyone. Service is nice/helpful. Everyone who comes here goes home with a full belly.

Just a very good value for money option. Generous portions, tasty dishes and fast service. Both the roti and the Moksi dishes are recommended. Definitely do it if you want a quick, tasty and, above all, filling bite before the match or concert.

We have been coming there for years and that was long before the Euro and the food and service are also great and we still know some of the people from the service from that time. We are from Hilversum and enjoy going there, always pleasant.

Had cooked myself but felt like having fashong with it and got bak fashong from Kam Yin. It was neatly wrapped with sauce on the side and taste was good. Good service and price too.

Terrible! This is supposed to represent a baka bana 🤢 As you can see from the photo it looks old, dry and unripe! I don't even want to start about the 'satay sauce'. Immediately thrown away. Waste of my money.

Yesterday I visited a restaurant where it was 28 degrees outside. However, it was considerably warmer inside; I estimate about 35 degrees. The restaurant had no resources to temporarily purchase fans. When I spoke to the staff about this, I was told that it is a cheap restaurant and that there is no air conditioning and that is why the food is also cheap, a tjaumin chicken about € 11, only contains tjaumin and chicken and dry cucumbers, 2 slices . In addition, the staff was unfriendly and the owner was not present to receive complaints. This restaurant is purely about selling as much as possible, flies everywhere and the chefs are sweating in the back of the kitchen in the heat. Toilet always dirty. floor dirty

Food lukewarm, service chaos (not in a charming way ;)

There are no chopsticks in a Chinese restaurant, so I ate fried rice with a fork for the first time in my life! When I eat in a Vietnamese restaurant, Vietnamese bosses know how to give them chopsticks. You are a Chinese restaurant, don’t you know? The service attitude was very poor. We didn't speak English well, but the waiter just didn't speak Chinese. In the end, he couldn't start speaking Chinese. Did he deliberately not speak Chinese when he saw Chinese customers? The set meal we ordered included a portion of rice, and then we ordered fried rice. I meant that we didn’t need the rice. It was too much waste and we couldn’t eat it, so we charged the normal price. The waiter said: It’s free, I’ll give it to you for free! Do I need you to send me? The speech was really unpleasant. I came to eat openly and felt humiliated. I have been to Europe so many times and this is the worst hotel. No wonder this restaurant cannot be found on all domestic review websites. The Google Maps rating is only a few points. Very rich and well located. However, the attention leaves something to be desired. I think there is very little staff for the number of tables, the waitress looked very upset and rushed, which affected our experience. Food is tasty here. What's strange is that there are still flies stuck to the wall. Service from an older woman is quite rude, not customer friendly. Great for something to eat once in a while. I understand that the quality is not that good when it comes to collection; you're better off eating there.
