I visited today August 30, 2026. Your waitress in red is particularly very rude, disrespectful and discriminatory! Immediately after I mentioned what I wanted to buy, she looked at me disgustingly and banged the menu book on another table next so provoked and walked off so I couldn't even voice out what I wanted to drink. She however was being nice to the Asians...why? Are you allergic to black Africans or what??? Then change your location because bijlmer isn't where you ought to be!

Came here during lunch with colleagues, ordered a Lamb Roti. It was delicious!

Picked up today. Bakabanas soaked in oil. Even our dining table was covered in oil from the bag. The peanut sauce was also very greasy. The saoto was tasteless, not a hint of lemongrass or galangal to be found. Everything gets thrown straight into the saoto there instead of being served separately; the bean sprouts and fried potato/vermicelli pieces were completely limp. This is not love for food, sorry...

Meat that is cold on the inside, staff that does not care and is rude when you try adressing it.

Really -100 for customer service at this Kam Yin in the Southeast. Not even a greeting, and they brought the card machine while we weren't finished yet. There was no open attitude or smile to be had either… The food was okay though…

We had a delicious meal. We ate tjauwmin moksi meti and chicken roti on the spot. The roti was a bit chewy when it cooled down, but still tasty. The chicken, potatoes, and vegetables were also good. To take away, we ordered a bakkeljauw sandwich and a lean pork sandwich. The sandwiches could have had a bit more filling. There was pickle on the left side and filling on the right. That was a shame. But the taste of the filling was good.

Visited again on February 4th. The Pom seemed even tastier than ever. I live quite a distance away now, but I will definitely eat there more often. Located in the Amsterdamse Poort (Amsterdam South), among other places. Tasty Surinamese/Chinese food for a small price. Service is top-notch... sometimes a bit fast. I love going there for a bite to eat. They are generous with the portions. Doggy bag is no problem either. Price-quality ratio... you get more than your money's worth. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED...

I came to support an Asian restaurant. I left feeling completely disappointed. The location of Kam Yin is strategic, and during dinner there were plenty of Western diners. That initially made me think, “Maybe this place is actually good.” I had also seen the relatively low TripAdvisor rating of around 3.4, but as an Asian myself, I wanted to give an Asian restaurant a chance and show my support. Unfortunately, I wish I had listened to the reviews. **The food was disappointing.** I ordered fried noodles expecting them to be freshly stir-fried. Instead, the noodles tasted as though they had been pre-fried and simply reheated or tossed with soy sauce. Worse, they arrived barely warm, somewhere between warm and cold. **Then there was the dining environment.** There was a rubbish bin placed in the middle of the restaurant, directly behind a standing fan. I happened to be seated right in front of that fan. So instead of enjoying my meal, I was essentially having air blown towards me from the direction of a rubbish bin. The smell was unpleasant and completely inappropriate for a dining area. **The payment experience was even more uncomfortable.** The waitress handed me the card terminal in Dutch. I didn't understand that I was being asked about a tip. I tried to proceed without leaving a tip and got stuck on the tipping screen. Rather than simply explaining what the screen meant, the waitress just stood there waiting while I struggled with the terminal. I felt pressured and embarrassed. Customer service should not make a customer feel uncomfortable for choosing not to tip. **And then came the €1.55 surcharge.** This was the final straw. There was an additional **€1.55 charge** on the card that I had not been informed about. I asked the waitress what it was for and how the amount was calculated. Her response was essentially that some cards may have a surcharge. That's it. No proper explanation. No transparency. No attempt to clarify why "my" card was charged €1.55 or how the amount was determined. The attitude was basically, “Some cards have a surcharge,” as though the unexplained charge was my problem. If a restaurant charges a card surcharge, customers should be clearly informed before payment. It should not appear unexpectedly on the card terminal and then be dismissed when questioned. By this point, I was simply done. I didn't even want to argue anymore. I wanted to leave as quickly as possible. I came here specifically because I wanted to support an Asian restaurant despite the mediocre reviews I had seen. Instead, I experienced disappointing food, an unpleasant dining environment, an uncomfortable tipping/payment process, and an unexplained surcharge followed by dismissive service. **One of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I've had in Amsterdam.** The strategic location and number of diners may make the restaurant look popular, but popularity does not necessarily equal quality. I genuinely hope the management reads this and understands that these are not small details. They are exactly the kind of things that make customers decide never to come back. I certainly won't.

Just like old times: simply delicious. We arrived late but still managed to order. The food was brought quickly. We really had to eat fast. And naturally, people were cleaning up around us and putting the chairs on the tables—logical. But still nice that we were able to have a quick meal.

Just bad! Tasteless moksi, bbr tastes like white beans in tomato sauce. Fried banana was greasy and tasteless. Never again!

Ordered rice with brown beans, moksi meti, and fried banana. The moksi had little flavor, and the brown beans were more like tomato sauce with beans! I threw it away; it was disgusting! The fried banana was a mouthful of oil; I threw that away too. It is scandalous that they dare to sell their food like this. People, don't go here; it is inedible and a waste of money.

Chinese-Surinamese eatery where you need patience! The food is tasty, it tastes good! But be patient!

The nasi moksi was the first meal I had at central station when I emigrated to this country in 1987. I loved it and got addicted to it. Then they opened another restaurant in Zuidoost where I used to live and I could not get enough. My kids were raised with this dish and just like me, keep going there for a delicious meal. I had brown beans with rice and moksimeti, and Telo, everything was stale and I think from the day before; in any case, it wasn't what I'm used to from Chinese Suriname. This is a real letdown and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. And it didn't even last an hour before our stomachs were upset. Yuck, gross.

Ordered a shrimp sandwich. And it was just a long bean sandwich with cocktail shrimp, the kind you always have on the side with a rice dish. I often eat Surinamese sandwiches, but I had never experienced anything like this before. I asked if I could have a new sandwich with BIG shrimp, because that’s just what belongs on a shrimp sandwich. She said no... you just have to pay for the other one. In the end, she came to show me the big shrimp and said that they don't belong on the sandwich. The service was really bad, and they can't even make a shrimp sandwich. Dotty restaurant. I am a real Surinamese cuisine lover, but this place is truly the worst I have ever had.

I ordered nasi moksi and telo yesterday. The telo was still cold, and the man at the counter was also grumpy and unfriendly.

The food was nothing great, plus I asked fried rice and I got white rice so that was bad start, but the service, is easily the worse place I have ever enter in Amsterdam, which doesn't mean there aren't probably even worse places to eat in this big city, but this place has the most rude and unwelcoming workers I have ever encounter in a long time, never going back there ever again, the food is not worth it, and those people's long faces don't deserve one cent from anybody.

Okay for a quick bite, not expensive. Not very inspiring to sit there.

Kam Yin Southeast. I ask for a large tjau min... He says 11.90. We are in Amsterdam Southeast. They don't even charge prices like that in the millionaire's village of Amstelveen. It gets even worse: when I open the container at home, there is literally only tjau min inside, no vegetables. Then 11.90 is just too shameful to ask: it shouldn't cost 11.90 even with vegetables. This is called Robbery by Daylight. At Kam Yin, they probably want to retire at 50 if you dare to ask that.

I got nasi moksi meti today. The food wasn't good; the chicken sausage was sour, the chicken was charred, the pork wasn't tasty either, and the rice was hard. This is terrible because normally it's always delicious. Different cook?

I was a regular customer at Kam Yin in Port until one day we found hair in our food. The service is terrible, but the food was good until that day. We told the waitress, and the lady at the register was very rude and discourteous, thinking we were going to leave without paying the bill because there was hair in our food. So now I don't recommend this place and I won't be going back.

The food is really poorly presented. It's difficult to make yourself understood, even in English or Dutch... you just have to point to the pictures on their menu, which isn't clear at all! Unfortunately, I won't be coming back here.

Very rude employee at the checkout. After a communication misunderstanding, he very unfairly asked if I spoke Dutch. Rude and not customer-friendly. The sandwich was decent. There are better Asian grocery stores in Amsterdam.

After so many years, we visited Kam Yin again, and how we missed it all this time. The service was good and the food was heavenly, and so much so that we took the leftovers home. Containers and a bag do cost money, but the food is well worth it. There were three of us: 2 adults and a 9-year-old. We had 2x satay (2x4 skewers) as a starter and prawn crackers. For the main course, we had Surinamese bami with moksi meti + a container of satay sauce, and the other person had chicken fillet in black bean sauce (what a huge portion, you could easily share it between two people 😳), and our son had saoto soup. For drinks, we had 2x Fernándes and water. Everything, including 3 containers and a bag, was €62.70... definitely worth repeating.

The food was delicious; I ordered Surinamese noodles with chicken and pork. The service was TERRIBLE, the worst I've ever been treated in Amsterdam. From the moment I arrived, they were condescending. I asked for a glass of water in English because I know it should be free, and they brought me a bottle and told me I had to pay for it. The guy at the next table explained that I wanted tap water, and the waitress told him to be quiet and repeated that I had to pay for a measly little bottle of water. Awful service; they need a course in manners. It's a shame because the food is very good.

On the recommendation of many, I ordered a Moksi Meti for takeout. Large bowl of rice, a piece of chicken chopped into pieces with the bone still in (bone splinters everywhere), dried-out pork belly, and 2 pieces of sausage. No vegetables, no sauce, dry rice, and little flavor. I really don't understand where the positive reviews are coming from...

Staff terribly rude and unfriendly. I ordered a long bean shrimp sandwich. First I received a sandwich with ONLY SHRIMP, then I sent it back for long beans and received ONLY LONG BEANS. I tried to bring it up, but the old woman just completely ignored me. The tables were not clean either.

Got beef roti, unbelievable, what a disgrace. There wasn't a single bit of curry masala in it. It looked like some kind of soup. Tasted like nothing. I think it's a real shame, and the staff, especially that man, was really antisocial and grumpy.

I only know Kam Yin from Warmoestraat. The food used to be good. Now it's awful! I ordered the beef roti. Yuck, yuck!!! I haven't had such a disgusting, disgusting roti in years. I was craving it so badly. There was no masala in it, it only tasted like a nasty soy gravy. The beef tasted like it had been thoroughly washed with nasty bits of fat still on it. Undercooked, soggy vegetables were in it. It tasted like a bowl of soup, so much sauce and so disgusting. There was even a bit of lemongrass in it. Who makes roti like that? Those roti plates weren't real ones, but more like from a Moroccan shop. To those who say the food is good: you're not used to anything!

Very friendly staff. Solid quality food. The soups are recommended: corn soup, dumplings, saoto, and Peking soup. 👌

21 years of faithfully serving the best Surinamese Chinese. I've tried several in Rotterdam, The Hague, etc., but Kam Yin remains unbeatable for me!

We ordered take out on our way back to Centraal Station, I got noodles with salt cod and greens with shrimp. Served in a takeout carton, the portion was deceptively big and cost €12.40. The noodles were really tasty, not at all greasy and the salt cod was some of the best I've ever tried! Great little place for fast service!

When the 3 of us came to eat, all 3 got food poisoning, I'm not doing that again.

We have eaten here often and it always tastes great, today we had the Sze Chuan steak € 17.70 and the Sze Chuan chicken fillet for € 16.30, you get large portions and super fresh.

***UPDATE*** Just to give them another shot, I’ve returned last week. And honestly this time reminded me of the past: crispy and juicy pieces of meat. I’m happy to see they’re back, hopefully they can keep it up. ————————— This was our go to restaurant for a quick bite for 15+ years. On our last visit, the quality of the food had significantly declined. It lacked the freshness and care it once had. Perhaps there's a new owner or chef? Whatever the reason, it's no longer the same place. Sadly, we won't be back.

Got the wrong food for the second time, and the worst part is I can't seem to get them. It's not a problem with TB either. I'm looking for the vegetables and shrimp. Spent a total of 20 euros for the second time. I know it's just takeout. The glorious Kamyin combo with Thuisbezorgd is over. Little Chinatown is definitely not a bad choice.

We liked it so much that we ate there more than once; some of the best Chinese food I've ever had.

Unfortunately, I received extremely unfriendly service! The employee initially made me wait for at least five minutes and wandered around the kitchen. Finally, he came over without greeting me and just looked at me like, "What do you want?" I asked what was in a snack, and he said, "Nothing." In other words, get out of here! I then left without buying anything because I felt so awful. And I'm not going to leave it at that.

Food is ok but the service is mediocre, language is not a barrier of politeness.

Surinamese & Chinese fusion. This is a beloved local spot for working every day Amsterdammers. No frills. No tourist bs. No American style smiling customer service. You come, your order, you eat the food, you laugh & smile with your friends about how good it is and you leave. You can’t grow up in this neighborhood without coming to this spot. People come for the food & the familiarity. We got roti, chicken satay, noodles with chicken and prawns. Also - they have all the spicy peppers & sauces you need on the table. If you’re an influencer or a tourist looking for something fancy just stay away and leave this to the locals.

Let me start by saying that today my friend visited this place and as you can see he ordered something that looked like a mess. You cant even tell if its chicken or fish. It looks like somebody have stepped on that dish with their bare feet just like the streets of mumbai. As soon as he uploaded the picture, 5 girls unfollowed him on instagram. One of his cousins transferred him some money. Even his dad decided to come back home after 18 years. I dont know what to say honestly, Sid haven’t been the same since then. And the worst part is thqt they had the gut to charge him for this My condolences goes too Sid and his family, get well soon budy!

The staff was agitated and spoke unclearly. Furthermore, the "Surinamese" nasi was far from Surinamese. It tasted like brown rice without any seasoning, making it incredibly dry. For a moment, it felt like I was eating Chinese white rice. Quite hard and not tasty. I had to search incredibly hard for the chicken in the nasi, but I absolutely could NOT find it. I was already home when I unpacked my food; otherwise, I would have sent it back. I advise everyone against eating anything Surinamese here. If you mess up your nasi like that, I don't need to know about your other dishes. Although, I can't judge their "Chinese" dishes, which they perhaps specialize in more. I didn't find it a pleasant experience and I especially miss the money I spent on it, especially in these times of crisis. It's no small feat, nephew.

You go here for delicious Surinamese food. Right before a concert, for example. Not to use the restroom. It's downright filthy when it's busy. Don't peek in the kitchen. Rob Geus doesn't give it many stickers, which doesn't make him happy. The food. Delicious. Surinamese noodles. Moksi. Pork belly. Surinamese sausage. And of course, wash it down with Fernández red or green. Next time again. But I'll go to the restroom at home.

Ate here while visiting Ziggo. I've never experienced such unsympathetic, even rude, service. That older lady with glasses should be sent home. She almost threw the "November" plate in front of us. I always said "Thank you!", all the other diners at the time were outraged. 🤨 All the other ladies were friendlier. The food was good. My roti was lukewarm and cold in the middle. I had to have it reheated. First time, last time.

Today I thought I'd treat myself to a portion of tjaumin... but unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. The tjaumin was unusually brown and tasteless, the chicken was dry, and the fa shong tasted a bit rancid. Next time, I'll just cook it myself and save my money!

They forgot certain things on our dish, we've been here several times and told the waitress. Then we got charged extra at the end. Pointed it out at the bill and the comment was ''We should'v told her earlier'' and its ''no money issue for you''

Ate here this evening after walking over from our accommodation (Hotel Levell). The walk was about 15 minutes so not long at all! The food was fresh, delicious and quick. There are a wide variety of different options on the menu that are reasonably priced. Would recommend this place to tourists! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Unfortunately, it's not what it used to be. Unfriendly staff. The hot chicken isn't what it used to be. Unfortunately, it's not what it used to be.

I went to Kam Ying today. I thought long ago, I'm going to get a portion. Once inside, it was quite busy, people waiting for their orders. Okay, I'm standing in line. The Chinese man behind the counter acted as if someone from his family had died. Not interested at all, or anything. The woman asked for me, "Do you have any other toppings for the sandwiches?" Then no answer for 20 seconds, then I started pointing, this and that. "Once I'd seen that," I said loudly. "I'm not buying anything here because the politeness is gone. It's all about the money, nothing more. I'll never go to this place again." Then I went to the competitor where they take your order much more enthusiastically. So, Kam Ying, work on your presentation and enthusiasm.

Never reachable by phone. Unfortunately, I've already forgotten something in my order twice, and I can't reach them.

Look, I understand why you give each other a 3.9, but of course that makes no sense at all. That is because of your image of service. If people don't smile at you, you get grumpy. That is not necessary at all, because that is just how it goes. The food is great, more than good. If you just smile and praise everything incredibly, everyone will just smile too. So from me, and I should know, because I have been all over Asia and Suriname, this place gets a big 5 on everything!

I got a portion of nasi with chicken, nasi was really inedible. It is dry and really dark brown, a lot of ketjap? It tastes salty and no other flavor. Not recommended!!
