Warung Mini Ceintuurbaan in Oude Pijp

I bumped into influencer Daan van der Lecq while cycling, and I asked him for a good restaurant. He recommended that I go to Warung Mini. What a golden tip! On his recommendation, I ordered the Ramses Special, and it was truly delicious! The chicken satay, the tender meat, and the rice are a fantastic combination. No unnecessary frills, just really good and authentic food with friendly service.

Always good!! Delicious saoto soup, but the other options like the roti are also highly recommended!

Ordered noodles with chicken satay, but… where is the satay sauce?! 😅 The satay sauce seems to be worth its weight in gold here: with the chicken satay, we only received one small scoop. And when you order extra satay sauce and pay for it, you get a tiny container as well 😕 Really a shame, because the sauce is actually delicious! Just provide a good amount. After all, satay sauce belongs with chicken satay — and especially when a customer orders this chicken satay dish, you should expect to actually get something. Very disappointing and is sloppy customer service.

I ordered food via thuisbezorgd.nl. After a while, it indicated that the order had been delivered, but this was not the case. I drove to the store to report that the order had not been delivered, and that I had called the store 9 times with no one answering. I also asked what we could do about it, or if anything could be done to find a solution. We were then told that they could do nothing about it, that it was not their problem for me to contact Thuisbezorgd, and we were basically kicked out of the store. I will certainly not order from here again in the future.

If you want to get robbed of your money, this is the place to be. Ordered food, the app indicated it was delivered (it certainly wasn't), tried calling the restaurant and no one answered. Went there myself and told I have to resolve this through Thuisbezorgd because they can't do anything about it... sorry, but surely a delivery person clicks on delivered? Anyway. I got nicely scammed on this beautiful Sunday and will certainly never order anything from here again.

The font in this restaurant. He is a first class rude man. I have never seen a restaurant in the Netherlands that treats people so badly. I think if he is in charge of the restaurant for a few more days. People will stop eating in the restaurant. Another thing is that he looks at girls so badly, I really have no words to say.

You don't come here for the atmosphere or perfect service, although the service is actually just fine. But you come for the food. DELICIOUS 😋 There are 2 Warung Minis close to each other; we were on Van Wou Street, but both Warungs, including the one on Ceintuurbaan, are TOP-NOTCH! 👌🏽

The food is super fake. Saoto soup doesn't even taste like saoto, but just like bouillon. Tjauwmin doesn't have the real tjauwmin taste either. Furthermore, you can't even eat in peace there; it looks like a children's playground.

Today was the first time we ordered takeout, following success stories on YouTube. Authentic flavors and generous portions. The saoto soup was delicious, though in our opinion a little too salty. Otherwise, the dawet and baka bana were exquisite. Even the satay was very tasty!

Delicious Surinamese Javanese food (Aksi ome fu spam a njang)

Huge serves of Surinamese cuisine at really reasonable prices. If you get a meat dish with rice, you could easily split it between two people.

I had to fight to get my refund for a dish I cancelled within a minute, unbelievable!!!! No people from Surinam working their anymore????! What happened? Some businesses need to be managed by individuals with the right mindset and professionalism in hospitality. Clearly that is not the case here. The place is not managed by the original crew but franchised to some hard working people, that clearly do not understand hospitality. The true Surinam atmosphere is gone, a shadow of what this place used to be.

Flavor of food disappointing after trying far better Suriname restaurants in Rotterdam. Then the system where you have to place your order online. The person who brought our food was unfriendly and forgot our request to bring extra plates to share dishes. Ambiance super noisy with screaming kids. Never to be repeated!

Order May 1, 2026 After having lived in Berlin for 4 1/2 years, where they don't have this, it feels like coming home again. Beef nasi. Tasted good, meat nice and tender. In my opinion, the nasi could have been a bit spicier, but that is purely personal. Vegetarian roti. Nice large portion that was eaten in one go. Tasted good. Highly recommended.

Just picked up a couple of roti rolls: a chicken curry bara and a chicken leg roti. Ate the chicken curry sandwich right away in the shop, which wasn't bad. The roti rolls were well-filled and flavorful. I got tasty sambal with them, and everything was well-seasoned. The chicken leg roti was tasty, and the flatbread was nice and soft. The only thing I noticed was that it was dark inside the shop; otherwise, it looked neat.

Delicious food! Friendly staff and good atmosphere. It's a shame there isn't a place in Oud West, otherwise it would be weekly Surinamese food.

Spectacular food. Had the moksi Meti groente which was absolutely perfect.

Tasty and good prices. Had nasi with satay and just barely managed to finish it! The potato in the roti was a bit on the hard side though.

While I'd been satisfied before, my last order was very disappointing. The bakabana were extremely greasy. The texture was tough and rubbery, more like a piece of elastic than a crispy fried banana. Because I'm not used to this, I called to complain. Unfortunately, it wasn't taken seriously. I only got, "Sorry, better luck next time." That felt very dismissive and not customer-focused. Too bad, but no more Warung Mini for me.

We've been coming here for years, but the last time we were there, something about the food changed. My girlfriend's roti was watery and bland. The chicken satay was dry, and the yellow Madam Jeannet pepper bottle wasn't spicy at all. The other bottle I got wasn't spicy either. I think they watered it down a bit. It's a shame, because we used to love coming here.

Arrived for dinner at 7:40 PM on Friday evening. We were told that eating inside wasn't allowed. We've been going there for 25 years. This is ridiculous. We've now gone to Roopram's on Van Wou. Never again to Warung Mini.

I've had better food here. The Saoto soup was rather bland and tasteless, as was the cod at the Telo. I used to eat here often, always delicious. This was my last time. The people are nice, though.

Definitely recommended! Always tastes fresh! And I love the flavor. Feels like I'm back home 🙂

A regular customer used to come here for a portion of satay. They've literally reduced the portions from 4 pieces of chicken to 3 on a stick, and the price has stayed the same. Very disappointing.

I'm very angry that I ordered nasi with chicken, and it wasn't chicken... what the hell is this madness? Never order from here again, the food was immediately thrown in the trash... They're fooling people with other kinds of meat. I know what chicken is and how, and what I got wasn't chicken... scandalous. Check your meat before you eat and order.

Delicious food and friendly service

The food quality has really deteriorated; everything is reheated, not fresh, and served cold! Saoto soup tastes like nothing! Bakabanq reheated in the microwave feels like a rubber band! It's a shame, and the grandpa behind the counter could be a bit friendlier.

I eat my saoto soup here almost every month. I don't live in Amsterdam myself, so I eat here every month when I visit my girlfriend. I highly recommend eating here!!! Their soup is delicious, and there are many other dishes too! Generous portions that really fill you up! The place to go and eat Surinamese food! Very delicious and tasty! Absolutely a must!

Especially telo bakkeljauw is delicious!

Had been recommended to try the Rames. I went for mine with fried rice and it was absolutely top draw, easily the best meal Iv ever had in Amsterdam. The taste and texture of the food was excellent, with each item complimenting the meal as a whole. Loved the old dude manning the counter 🙌

Arrived 30 minutes before closing for a proper cooked meal and ended up having the best dining experience in my 25 years of visiting Amsterdam. Huge thanks to food blogger James Dimitri for his Amsterdam guide. This spot has easily made my list as one of the most incredible culinary experiences. The food was unique, unlike any cuisine I’ve tried before, and the service was outstanding. Can’t wait to be back.

Ordered through Thuisbezorgd. The email said the food had been delivered, but nothing had been received. Warung Mini simply decided not to answer the phone even though they were open. Disgraceful.

Unfriendly. We received the wrong dish and were blamed, with no apology or solution. After dinner, we were even ignored during the chat because our table was already being cleaned for the next customer.

We arrived at Warung mini on Monday at 12:05 to pick up a few dishes. We thought the shop opens at 12:00 and it will still be quiet. Many tables were occupied or reserved and the line stretched from the counter to the exit. That is a good sign, but be careful that it does not become a success. If you are eating there, I can imagine that the continuous stream of people past your table is unpleasant.

I hadn't been here for a while but I was always helped well, I thought I'd go back because a clumsy event was waiting for me, I was asked twice what my order was. And it took and took, people who had ordered long after me left the store well before me. A lady who had ordered 5 minutes before me had already finished eating by the time I had not received my order yet! When I asked why it was taking so long, was it a system? Well, the only one who seemed to have problems with that was me. When my order finally arrived, a dawet I had ordered and paid for was forgotten, which I had wanted to drink there but had not received either. And when I asked about the dawet, they wanted to give me the lukewarm one, which I refused. I got a new one, when I asked for a free drink because of waiting almost 35 minutes, I did not get it. That man was cuddly rude, but not the owner. Other Warung Mini's are much nicer and sympathize with the customer, so I will not be going to this one for the time being. So I took a detour. And I was also way too late for my appointment!!

Ordered a Sauto on Saturday and it was as if there was a whole jar of salt in it. Not to eat. Had a portion of masala chicken on the bone and was almost only fillet

Fantastic little place, packed on a cold Monday late evening with delivery drivers coming in and out - a great sign. I didn’t eat all day to make room to try different things and had their apparently famous Saoto soup, beef rendang with nasi goreng on the side, and a roti. Had the portions been less generous I might have had room left to try Bakkeljauw - salted cod with cassava fries - will be next time together with something else from the extensive menu. Very kind staff and quick service too, totally recommended

Small Surinamese eatery. The service can be experienced as surly, but if you act normal, they will be too. I think the service is excellent. The atmosphere is pleasant. It is and remains a small eatery. I think the food is delicious. As far as I have experienced fresh ingredients and well prepared. There are always customers, I'm not the only one who likes to come there or pick up something. We usually go for the vegetarian roti, barra, baka bana and lemper.

I've been getting my food here for 20 years and it's still a favorite!

Neat tent, clean, the roti and noodles were not bad either, but a bit underseasoned.

I regularly order Roti Lamb Curry or Bara Bakkeljauw and Spring Roll Chicken. Everything was very tasty, still nice and warm. The Bara Bakkeljauw is full of fish. Enjoy every time. I would like to keep it that way. I have recommended Warung Mini to family and friends and they are also very satisfied..😋😋😋

Normally a baked cod sandwich with pepper and sour is super tasty, but today (January 7) I bought 2 sandwiches with sooo much salt. I drank almost 2 liters of water at night. 😒😒 Really a shame.

I had dinner there with my girlfriend yesterday. It looks quite clean, but hygiene is hard to find. What struck us is that gloves are used. An old grumpy gentleman did everything with his gloves, so bringing food to the customers, etc. With the same gloves he was also cleaning the toilets... taking dirty paper from the toilet room, etc. Then bringing food to the customers again with his gloves over the food. We have continuously followed that gentleman's actions. Of course we left our food behind. I felt very dirty afterwards. Bah! You don't do that!? I am very hygienic. It was probably just me. Please take this with you.

Twice while I was picking up something, I stood there for a while to see how things are going here. Behind the counter is a grumpy older man who shouts and rages at the customers. The food is tasty, but make sure you get the correct amount back. Ordering is recommended.

Outstanding food! My first time trying Surinamese food, and the perfect place for it. They speak English and Dutch, very fast service, and reasonable prices. Generous portions as well. They do a steady service in takeaway but dine in is good as well. No complaints at all!

Very friendly place, perfect to taste delicious Surinamese food at very affordable prices. The team was very pleasant, I had a great time!

My Surinamese colleague took me to try the Saoto Soup from this shop. He mentioned that this is the best one in town so I gave it a try. I cannot compare to with other places because here is the only place I’ve tried so far. I can only say that I’m satisfied with this dish. The soup broth is really good and it’s even better when you add their chilli sauce in it. I want to make sure that it’s not one time good so I just tried again recently and of course, it’s still very good for me. I finished all the soup in the bowl. The price is also quite cheap. Next time, I will bring my friends to try it here!

But hey, that's not why you go to an eatery. You come there to have a quick bite to eat or to take away. If you appreciate table service and table linen, you should go elsewhere. For a quick bite that is much better than average, this is the place for you.

Had roti yesterday. Still sick of it.

First of all, the dark-skinned Hindu man is so rude! Just sits there shouting in the shop and doesn't know how to deal with customers and staff. If you ask him about what kind of vegetable you also get a certain tone. Food is so nasty everything is literally reheated. Nasi was so old and swollen wet rice grains and the satay sauce was old and had a bad taste.

If you can't be customer friendly, you shouldn't work! I can't even start a decent conversation with Mr. It was a wrong order, luckily they are much better and friendlier at Van WO! I would say, learn from your colleagues.

Just discovered this place. It is bloody fantastic! Excellent quality authentic Indonesian menu. The massala chicken curry bara is to die for. A few tables to dine in. And excellent for take out. Highly recommend it!

Scandalous service! Arrived just after 8:00 PM to have some saoto soup and was told it was take-away only. While this is not indicated anywhere and it clearly states that they are open until 9:00 PM. Deeply disappointed in this restaurant, let's go to a restaurant that deserves it! We will never come here again!

Simply the best authentic Surinamese toco in Amsterdam. I'm addicted to their frita, and everything else is great food.
