Great food and value. Had the roti kip. Been coming there over 20 years. Always consistent quality. Also clean bathrooms.

Food is so so. The place is crowded for dinner. I ordered beef with black bean sauce and it is ok not that bad but it could be better. The seats and tables also very small spaces due to sharing tables and lots of people coming in and out

Speaking as an Asian American, this was one of the best takes on char siu/siu yook rice plates that we’ve ever had, with a Surinamese/Chinese spin added on it. We also order an additional bowl of moksi sauce to pour onto our rice plate which added an additional level of flavor. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection and the staff was especially welcoming to everyone. The saoto soup was also great and hearty for days when your throat is yearning for something healthier. Go here ASAP!!!

Stop charging for tips/tips! The meals are mediocre to good. The only annoying thing is that the waitresses ask you if you need to add a tip when paying. That must come from me and not be suggested by you. Serving meals is part of the work for which you are paid. This is not America where waitresses make $2 an hour and therefore rely on tips. You earn a normal salary and only if I am very satisfied with your extra service, the ambiance or the food can I determine whether a tip is appropriate. You also immediately show in your behavior if no tip is given. Train your staff that tipping depends on how they provide extra service to their customers. It is not a given.

They have suddenly become a bit more expensive. Higher rent? Even the drinks like marcuja and ginger are priced up. Furthermore, very tasty and excellent

Last Saturday I became so immensely ill that I actually should have gone to the hospital, my fever was higher than the temperature of the food that I had to have sent back afterwards... Food is always of top quality. Especially for these prices. We come here regularly. Only the service could sometimes be a bit friendlier. After all, the customer remains king.

The food was terrible, dry and tasteless. The chicken was dry and had more bones than meat. The noodles were not seasoned at all and sandy. The staff also leaves a lot to be desired. We almost had to chase the waitresses and wait before taking our order. And the icing on the cake when paying when we just wanted to go very far from this restaurant the waitress asks us for a tip very sharply after a first no she tells us that we have to enter the amount on the machine then after a second no we gave up to get away from this nightmare as quickly as possible.

Abundant and well-priced food in the city center

One of my favorite places to eat in Amsterdam. Ever since I was younger I have loved coming here for a tasty plate of Surinamese food and/or takeaway. Simply delicious!

Very bad service. I was in shock …

Staff are incredibly friendly and hospitable. You don't have to wait too long for a seat in the restaurant. The chicken curry sandwich had a good taste, but I thought it was a pity that it was a tough sandwich. The black pudding has been kept warm for a very long time. You could really taste that. I also had a lot of trouble with several flies. After fifteen minutes my stomach was gurgling and I had severe diarrhea. Maybe this is personal, but for me this is not necessary again. The toilet doors in the men's toilet were sprayed with graffiti. Well kick. Overall: I wouldn't eat there again.

We came to the help desc and asked if we could just sit and drink for a while(it was 4 pm) and she agreed but when it came time to order we were pressured to order some food and we were told to get out if we didn't eat. So we asked if we could just stay 2 more minutes to wait on a friend who had gone out to take a call but the lady took our menus et almost our luggage and told us to go. I assume this is not always the case in the restaurant but this was really not necessary. Bad.

Was another world class meal, simple but tasty. A bit much, a chicken satay and a noodles with roasted chicken 🐔.

The service in the restaurant is simply arrogant and antisocial. When it comes to the take-away part, the reverse is nice and normal. Quantity, quality, service and price are excellent. Good job, keep it up👍.

Ok food and fair prices, but if I could give zero stars for the service, I definitely would. The staff is extremely unprepared to deal with customers. We were still eating at the restaurant, and they simply wanted to kick us out of the table. In the end, they even demanded a tip for their (terrible) service.

I know Kam Yin is a simple concept... Pay for food and leave... But today the waitress was in an extra hurry, so she made a mistake twice. Very unpleasant too... That's the atmosphere and decor...but then again, such a waitress... We took: A baka bana with peanut sauce A saoto soup Large shrimps with salt and pepper, with bare fried rice. And a nasi with "roasted" chicken... Where do I start.... The large shrimps are quite a pricey dish for an eatery like Kam Yin and so I expected a lot from them.. But as they say, expectation breeds disappointment... The shrimp did not taste fresh... Hard and chewy... on the other hand, the gigantic pile of vegetables that you get without asking for it tasted fresh... But if I wanted vegetables...then I would have ordered a vegetable dish... The bare nasi...is really bare... Rice with some spices...nothing more... The roasted chicken...is simply deep fried. The baka bana is served lukewarm and with that peanut sauce... No, you should really be ashamed of that as a Surinamese-Chinese restaurant. That looked like just peanut sauce from a container at the supermarket and then flavored with maggi... Too bad... It remains a nice place in the middle of the city... And it's still affordable... But I don't have to go there again for another 20 years.

Pretty nice Surinamese/Chinese restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam. Hence the crowd, and it took us sometimes to be seated at the table. Food was really tasty, the fried rice with roasted ducks was highly recommended. Ask for their household sambal to pair with almost anything

The dishes were super good, despite some negative comments! On the other hand, the customer experience is really mediocre, the reception non-existent. In addition, we are encouraged to leave a tip, which we did not do! Due to this poor customer service! I ordered Nasi rice and got beans and meat which wasn’t what I ordered. I called them once I got home and they told me I should I have checked my order, when you expect that they will get your order right. showed no sign of sympathy or accountability towards it. I have been coming to this Kam Yin location for years and with great pleasure. There is also a location in Amsterdam South East, but I don't think it is very good. But this one in the center of Amsterdam is always a success. The staff is friendly and there is plenty of seating since the last renovation a few years ago. The food is fresh and tastes good. We thoroughly enjoyed it and the price is also very affordable. Thank you and see you next time.

Worst experience of my life. The dishes were disgusting and inedible: dry rice and noodles without an ounce of sauce, no vegetables in the noodles apart from pieces of cooked salad (?), pieces of cucumbers cut up probably two days ago to decorate the plates. The chicken was so fatty I felt like I was traveling to the USA. The service was equally laborious. The waitress kept walking while we talked to her as if she was in the middle of juice even though she had 4 tables. She no longer spoke to us when we kindly refused to give her a tip. This is the first time I've left food on my plate at a restaurant, I come out feeling like vomiting. Run away.

Went for dinner today and was very disappointed by the service. The food was okay. Ordered some starters and some main courses. First got the main courses and after asking 4 times we still got the starters. And when paying, the lady with the card machine had the nerve to ask if she could get some tip. Normally I don't mind tipping, but if the service is so bad and you ask for a tip, you're really not going to get it.

We (couple, 44 years old) were in Amsterdam over the weekend and wanted to go out for a quick meal in the evening. We weren't sure whether we would get something spontaneously that evening - without a reservation. The store spoke to us and we just went in, got the space without any problems, the food came quickly, we were super satisfied.

The food was very bad. The meat was completely dry, the sauce was tasteless and watery, and didn't resemble anything like sauce. The noodles were floating in a puddle of water in the plastic container and also had no taste.

Good food. The pace is very cramped. The chairs are kept back to back. No one can move without touching the chair behind.

Bad service.. sighing and impatience. Very rude and food is lots of soy sauce. I should have read the reviews before coming. The staff who wore a glasses need to be train. She is unhappy when I said the name of the meal instead of the number.. Asian refrain coming. It's soya sauce with noodle.

Nice ambience. Unfortunately the food was totally bland. The vegetables were served with a slimy neutral sauce. The meat was full of tendons and bones - very dry and tough. Unfortunately our taste was not met here.

Recently had dinner there with 2 other people. It was quite busy there, so we were given a long table. When a group of about 7 people arrived, an ATM machine was immediately shoved under our noses to pay. We had barely finished eating and drinking. Later, an employee picked up my can of beer and started shaking it back and forth to see if it was empty yet! This is incredibly rude!

I am pleasantly surprised! Haven't been in years and the kitchen has certainly improved. I had a delicious meal there and even took extra home with me. I will definitely come and eat and take away again very soon.

Took food on the way home without success. We ordered roti chicken fillet but when we got home it was chicken with skin and bone. Chicken and gravy were tasteless. Hot chicken sandwich with pickles and pepper was not spicy. The fried banana with satay sauce came without satay sauce. Of course I paid for what I ordered but did not receive it. The fact that things went wrong for us a few times should have been a warning to leave.

Whether taking away eating in or getting delivered, the food is always great and consistently tasty every time. I find myself every now and then picking something from the menu I wouldn't normally order and Kami Yin never disappoints.

Ratio price, quality, location - 5 stars. In the given location, large portions for a reasonable price. Don't expect an oriental atmosphere, but a dining room. I'm not an expert on oriental food, but I liked it. The server didn't want to split the bill.

Very bad service! I ordered food there and it was automatically given as take-away, but I wanted to eat the soup there and take the rest with me, so I thought I wouldn't be difficult and just eat the soup out of the container. I sat at a table there and it was very quiet, but I was simply sent away because I was not allowed to eat from the bowl?? But they hadn't even put it in a bowl. Very bad service from the women there, came there often and often brought colleagues, but never again. What poor service people can do, yuck! And the food is no longer as tasty as it used to be!!

As an Asian this is pretty decent food travelling around Europe. No frills asian. Don't expect service. Just a good cheap meal and large portions. Recommend trying to surinaam noodles (similar to hokkien) and their roast/mixed pork with rice.

Delicious food for little money

After a full day Amsterdam with our travelling friend we wanted her ton taste Surinamese Chinese food. The food came pretty fast. The chicken was somewhat dry. The pork was moist and tasty. The food has a lot os MSG (Ajinamoto). The bakabana tasted old and the Pindasaus (peanut saus) was not authentic Surinamese. When we wanted to pay the lady asked if we wanted to tip. We answered “no”. Her attitude changed and she was very rude. We wanted to split the bill and she made so many tjoeries (mouth gestures when one is agitated) The atmosphere is not there. Find another Surinamese Chinese Restaurant in Amsterdam.

I recently went there for dinner, wanted to order more for home, but the waitress said that we had to stand in line at the cash register. While at that moment we were eating there at the table. Stuffed rolls were very poorly made and really not tasty. Thought it was really bad service. Never experienced anything like this

The food at Kam Yin was delicious. You can go here for delicious Surinamese dishes. The Surinamese brown nasi with moksi meti was delicious. The service was good, you don't have to wait long for the food. What topped it off for me was the jar of sliced ​​Surinamese pepper that you get with it (not obvious). Worth repeating!

Heated dish tasteless bad experience

Food has gone downhill. Not tasty anymore. On my plate of moksi lay a meager pile of meat. Gravy had no taste. Vegetables are hard to find. As well as the noodles with shrimps. Too bad. Loved coming there. This was a few months ago. I recently thought I would give it another try with 4 children. Once there, we were guided to a seat, but a friendly employee arranged for us to sit elsewhere where there was more space. When we arrive at that spacious seating area, a rude employee is waiting for us to start ranting in public. After which I initially spoke to her normally and told her that her colleague was sending us there. After which this pig of a woman snarled that that colleague was not the boss and spoke to us very rudely in front of other guests. Mind you, the children we had with us didn't make a sound during this employee's tirade! (Children's age 13,9,3 and 1 1/2) Mr. Kamyin, hire normal Dutch-speaking people with norms and values. We didn't come back because of the food. More for convenience! After this rant we decided never to go back. We went to eat elsewhere with 4 hungry kids! NEVER AGAIN KAMYIN!!!!

We ate delicious dish no. 49 (Surinamese noodles with pork). A plate full for an affordable price. When we arrive in Adam, we eat at Kam Yin. It can be busy, but everything goes super fast there and you never have to wait long for a table. Highly recommended

I recently had a disappointing experience at Kam Yin downtown. I ordered a bara and a tilo, but the bara didn't look great. Since I was hungry, I decided to continue. Unfortunately, the service started bad right away. The bara was served without sauce, and when I politely asked for sauce, I received an inappropriate response from the waitress. She walked away with a dirty look on her face, as if I asked something strange. When she returned, I was given pepper sauce, even though I had specifically asked for ketchup or chili sauce. Then she came back annoyed with ketjap... Yes, ketjap for a bara! When I asked again about ketchup or chili sauce, I was told that they had no sauce to go with the bara. This whole experience felt very uncomfortable and I feel like I was discriminated against in this restaurant. I will never eat here again and would like to warn others about the poor service and attitude of the staff. Kam Yin is an absolute no-go for me.

Worst Asian restaurant of my life and yet I've had quite a few. My girlfriend had her dish in literally 2 minutes (basically it was already ready) and less in 30 minutes, my chicken was not cooked, the satay sauce super thick and charred, the waitresses unpleasant. I asked for a coke, they gave it to me without a glass just with the can, it's a detail but hey after paying 20 bucks I expect to eat more cleanly than when I pay for my kebab at 5e 50 .And the waitresses force your hand for a drink. And I didn't taste my girlfriend's dish which also seemed disgusting.

Not recommended... Noodles were far dry, even though I even mentioned which sauce I wanted. Little meat and that too consisted of 50% bones. After three bites, leave the plates standing. It was cleared away without asking (why would it be? They know what they're offering). When paying with a card, the waitress nervously tapped a button on the display and mumbled something to herself. But we didn't understand it even after asking (she probably wanted to know how much "tip" we were giving... Of course we didn't even begin to consider that). I am deeply disappointed in my recent experience at kam yin. We ordered food and to my surprise the staff randomly placed all the dishes in front of the children. This was extremely concerning as my children are allergic to certain foods. No one bothered to ask who ordered what. Luckily I was just in time to prevent my children from eating the pork, which they are allergic to. When I confronted the waitress about this, her response was shockingly indifferent. She said, “Yes, it's busy, you know what you ordered.” Then she spoke to her in another language and the atmosphere became grim. This attitude was not only incredibly rude, but also dangerous given the situation. It was clear she didn't want to listen to my explanation of how risky her mistake was. The person who took our order also refused to listen to feedback and showed a disinterested attitude. After these incidents we received a clear negative attitude from the staff and there was no more friendliness. All this made me no longer feel like eating there. In the end I decided to take my food with me because the atmosphere had become so unpleasant. I can't help but be deeply disappointed in the way we were treated. I expected much more from kam yin and hope that they are serious about improving their customer service, especially when it comes to the safety and health of their guests.

Horribly mean woman pressuring us to order fast. Fyaed our our son. Sweeping under ours while we ate. Not worth the money.

The food was bland. The duck was dry and not prepared correctly. I had the duck soup and my friends also had duck with rice and noodles. We did not like it.

The fried rice with chicken tasted like it had been made a week ago and it must have been microwaved. My guess is that the chicken has been dead for at least three years, extremely dry and almost grey in colour. The dish wasn’t served with vegetables either, so it was bland to say the least. Other dishes were not quite as bad but still uninspired and fine at best. If you have to eat here, don’t take the fried rice, you will regret it…

It was recommended to us by a tourist guide and the biggest point to highlight is its price, cheap compared to the rest of the city. A wide variety of dishes and open at any time. Highly recommended if you are Spanish or from a country where they don't eat at 12. The treatment was also great.

Really enjoyed the food, big servings and was quickly prepared. Would gladly recommend and go back here again. It has a take away section, quick seating section ( for a short stay) and a more formal tabled section for larger groups or a lengthy meal in comfort. The restaurant was constantly busy which is due to its popularity and good food . Well worth a meal here if looking for Asian food .

Unfortunately our food wasn't good. Vegetables didn't taste good, and unfortunately the brown sauce on top didn't save the day either. Just the presentation of the vegetables (see the picture). I also wanted to pay separately (there were three of us) and we should calculate the amounts ourselves. The service lady was unfriendly.

What a dreadful experience here. Dry and hard chicken. No flavor, in fact it was the first time I would say I considered using salt on a Chinese meal! Unfortunately the staff care less. I ate some of my food, but just couldn't get it down with the hard chicken that was difficult to chew.
