Great food prices in central Amsterdam. Fast service.

Great location for train travelers, and delicious food at a good price. The food arrived quickly, and the service was very friendly. The crowd is diverse, which is also nice.

Very unfriendly attitude upon arrival. They wanted to place me next to the restroom entrance. I really wanted to, but the lady immediately looked angry. When I ordered, the lady came to me... "Yes?" she asked, half-snarling. During the meal, there was nothing but Chinese shouting between the waitstaff. Rude to customers, but they didn't seem to care. The food was mediocre. Small portion of rice. The rest seemed reheated. I also noticed all the new staff compared to last year. No tip was given. She could keep the mint she had ready!

I first visited it in '96 and it's still the same; you can eat well at a reasonable price for places like this.

The food was really bad. It only tasted good with Maggi seasoning (there wasn't even soy sauce). The atmosphere is okay, but I wouldn't eat there again.

Kam yin is one of the most delicious, well-known Chinese restaurants in Amsterdam.

The restaurant is spacious and looks clean. You're not sitting too close to other guests and have plenty of privacy between tables, which is very pleasant. The menu is very extensive and includes plenty of vegetarian options. There are plenty of staff milling around, so you're served quickly. The food was on the table within five minutes, which is of course very quick and convenient when you're in a hurry, although I wasn't entirely sure if that's a positive sign of freshness. I had the vegetarian option; it was fine, but not exceptional. The portions are very generous, though. The restrooms are also clean and tidy. My only complaint was that our plates were cleared away quite quickly, which made me feel a bit rushed. I would have preferred to stay a bit longer and relax afterward. I'd read reviews beforehand that said the waitress would add a tip to the bill, but that wasn't the case for us. All in all, a pleasant experience with many positives, especially regarding the space, selection, and hygiene, with some minor areas for improvement regarding the speed of service.

The food arrived unexpectedly, just two minutes after ordering. It was an unappetizing sight: the food was cold, the duck was like rubber, the noodles tasted of nothing, and the sauce smelled like sweat. I really can't recommend it; I'll never go back. The service, however, was friendly.

Don’t ever go here! we came over from uk and strolled past thought it looked a chill chinese the food came out less than 5 minutes after we ordered. food was obviously microwaved and been cooked for days. veg was sad. for 2 of us it cost 75€, they could clearly see we hadn’t eaten and didn’t care was happy charging us full price.

The food was just okay, lukewarm, with bones in the meat and barely seasoned. However, despite the restaurant being full, it was served within 5 minutes. The service was friendly and quick, but lacked warmth. Large portions at comparatively low prices for the area.

I'd like to sincerely thank the lady who set aside a calendar for me on Saturday, December 27th, which I was able to pick up on Monday, December 29th. I'm going to enjoy it again in the coming year. Along with the food, which I'll happily take home with me whenever I'm in the area. EXCELLENT!!!

Very busy!! Expect a wait to be seated. Reservations are accepted. The food is fresh and the portions are truly ample. Lots of tables, so lots of people, and lots of noise. It made me hyper. We'll definitely go back to around 5:30, when it was incredibly busy.

Since when is it normal in the Netherlands to beg for a tip? Tipping is not normal and not compulsory in the Netherlands. Very annoying behavior, first time I have seen this at a Dutch restaurant. Food is good but it depends on what you get

👎🏼👎🏼 Food was average, dry noodles, FORCED to tip!! Our bill went from 40€ to 45€ the lady didn’t let us even touch the machine to tap on “no tip”. Would not recommend 👎🏼👎🏼

I went there on September 9th when my ATM card malfunctioned at ABN AMRO. They were very difficult, and I had to leave my driver's license behind and was treated appallingly. I spoke to her again today, on month 12th, and she can't remember. I told her she treated me appallingly and rudely in September, but she doesn't remember. Unfortunately, I don't believe her, because during dinner she kept looking at me.

Very fast, very efficient, everything runs like clockwork – despite the huge crowds. Fair prices for delicious food. Not far from the train station. These prices are charged despite the very central location. This is only possible if throughput and efficiency are prioritized. Since the quality is also excellent, thumbs up!

The food was good but the people working there are not nice

Was here for launch and dinner, and the meals were really good and not expensive as agaist similar restaurants around the area. The ambience is okay and the staff are polite, and the food preparation/delivery is swift.

Such a bad service experience we had. Look at the quality of the chicken so dry that you can’t even eat. Plus noticed the difference in behaviour of the staff with us being a tourist and other customers coming in who were from Amsterdam itself. Worst experience in food and behaviour both 👎👎👎

I went to this restaurant with a friend, we were well received, the meal was very good for a first time in Amsterdam, if you want to eat a Surinamese dish I recommend it.

Lovely Chinese restaurant. They are open till late. The food was delicious, fresh and a good portion. The sweet and sour soup was not what I expected (it’s not hot and sour). Great for lunch or dinner.

I’m amazed by how many menu choices they have. From chicken, to beef, to pork, to seafood, then vegetarian. Only vegan is missing. The food came really fast, that’s good. They’re served hot as well. But the marination of the meat as well as the seasoning is not as good as expected. Portion is very good, had to take away some stuff. Hope to see improvement soon, as they have a lot of potential to be even better!

Absolutely love this place. If you are hungry and you're around centruml, Kam Yin is perfect. Convenient location, extremely fast, consistent food and calm environment. You can also eat very cheap here if you want to save a bit, eat well and enjoy a relaxing meal. Plus: They are dog friendly so you can eat if you have your dog with you! 🙏

“Terrible experience. I used to really like this restaurant, but after yesterday’s experience I’m never going back. In the end, I’d rather pay more at another restaurant and receive better treatment. The waitress was very rude; we had just finished eating and she started clearing the table, brought us the bill with the card reader, and my friend hadn’t even finished her drink. The place is always full, and they rush you so you’ll leave quickly. They were pressuring us to pay and leave, and I didn’t even have time to look at the bill. On top of that, the waitress asked for a tip and added 10 euros herself, saying it was normal. After such awful service, she still wanted a 10% tip.”

Absolutely avoid! The noodles and rice were unseasoned and definitely pre-packaged and reheated. We left practically without eating as they were inedible.

It only closed at 11 PM and we arrived at 10 PM. They forced us to order, pressured us to eat, and we couldn't even choose dessert. When we left, there were still 30 minutes until the restaurant closed, but they were already turning off the lights. If the opening hours are incorrect, they should be updated.

Awful experience, poor customer service, below average chinese food not worth the price, no restaurant manager on site, poor communication skills. If you want all of this whole package, then your are in the right place. 1. The worst of the worst at bill payment. When asked if to put a tip, I said no (see below why), but the waitress still put a tip on the payment terminal. I didn't notice this as payment terminal displayed the price with no tip after the waitress did this. After tapping my card (i.e. payment done) the terminal then magically showed the price with a tip. I asked different staff to speak to a manager about this dodgy trick, answer was "manager not here", and i've been ignored. No effort to refund the tip, just a "this is an administration fee" message. 2. Busy restaurant , ok but it doesn't mean rushed and cold service by staff. Especially when paying 30 Euro per person. 3. Surinam Menu? it is a regular Chinese Menu (*) Service really deserved a "0" but google doesn't offer this option.

As a huge fan of Chinese food, this was delicious. Excellent value for money. It's a no-nonsense restaurant with quick and efficient service. A real treat without any fuss!

Just ordered a moksi meti special (with white rice) And a moksi meti special (with noodles) I got two servings of white rice. When I called, the guy acted like it was our fault, and I had to wait an hour and a half for the noodles 😒😒

Incredible food! We tried dishes 63 and 61, and both were absolutely delicious (63 and 61 - highly recommend checking those out!). The portions were generous and the flavors were fantastic.

Ordered fried rice and pork and it was very dry and came out incredibly quick which is usually not a good sign. The food was not hot and had zero flavour. Staff were nice until they see you don’t tip which is odd considering nowhere else forces you to tip…instead of getting upset with customers not tipping you should pay your staff more. I would not go here again. Plenty other better places.

Very unpleasant experience, unwelcoming staff, as well as bad smell inside of the restaurant. As soon as waitress knew that our order will be pretty small, she said that we can’t stay there, won’t take our order and we’re expected to leave - with zero sense of hospitality.

A cheap Chinese restaurant, but you can tell that to some extent. The noodles themselves were delicious and hot with (roughly chopped) vegetables. The meat, however, was questionable. The chicken had about as many bones as meat, and the pork had a strong flavor of its own, which you have to like.

I am here somewhat regularly. The food has always been as aspected. The menu is reasonable big and offers a good variety of options. For the price, especially in the middle of Amsterdam, the food is quite good. Despite it central location you can eat here cheap and good. My favourite is their orange chicken. I often op for this fresh option.

The taste and portion sizes were definitely a success, and the service was just as supe nice. However, it is not a fully vegetarian or vegan friendly restaurant. Even though the menu is quite extensive, the vegetarian section is very limited. For example, there is only one noodle option available for vegetarians, and it is made with rice noodles. Moreover, the noodle had very few vegetables. Meanwhile, there are several different choices if you want noodles with pork or chicken. Overall, everything was great.

Expensive! Rude! Dirty I ordered noodles, a portion of vegetable rolls, and shrimp. After 30 seconds of ordering, I asked to cancel the shrimp, but no way, okay. The noodles arrived (acceptable). 2 portions of rolls (including one I hadn't ordered, which tasted horrible). The waitresses pretended not to understand. After 10 minutes, the shrimp arrived. I ate 3 of them and noticed there was a fried hair from the chef. The waitress shouted that it was a pig's hair, but I didn't order the pork, but the shrimp. And even if I had ordered the pork, I wouldn't pay for the hair. She charged me for everything and more. Don't go there, it's a tourist place.

Authentic portion of Nasi Moksi meti. Nothing more, nothing less. This time I opted for the basic portion with meat on top instead of the larger portion of meat on the side. I was there on the day of Sail Amsterdam 2025. It was quite busy, and understandably, the service wasn't as prompt. The food was delicious.

The service was generally quite friendly. It's just not so polite that when some of your table orders chicken roti, it's served without the roti. "Oops, it's gone" is nice to hear when ordering, not when it's brought to you with a bowl of rice and you have to ask yourself where the roti is. No solution was offered. Furthermore, part of the order was missing. The food at the table tasted generally bland and microwave-safe, with parts of the dish simply sitting somewhere between cold and lukewarm. It's a funny joke to even ask if you want to leave a tip. It used to be here, but apparently it's either faded or remembered through rose-colored glasses. The food is "cheap," but that's about it.

I've never eaten so badly. Duck with rice and sauce. You had to hunt for the meat; it consisted mostly of bone fragments and tendons. One sauce for everything tasted more like roast gravy and was very watery. There weren't really any vegetables, and what was on it was disgusting. I think the vegetable garnish was reused several times, or at least that's what it looked like. There was Maggi seasoning on every table! I'll read Google reviews before I go anywhere in the future.

The food here is delicious. Surinamese Bami is highly recommended. The service is a bit impersonal. It's a diner, so you won't stay long. The diner lacks any atmosphere.

Really bad experience, never recommend! We two were here with bags and other stuff during travel, giving us a table for 2 while many other couple were given a table for 4, the restaurant wasn't occupied at all. When I asked can we get a 4 seat like others, they are so rude. They purposely asking tips which we were never asked during the entire travel in the Europe (Germany, Lexumberg, Netherlands), and was implying US gives lots of tips. We were giving them 5% and suddenly we saw a long face and turn back to us. It is such a bad experience and ruin our day in Amsterdam, they treat people by your skin color.

I always carefully read restaurant reviews before going. This restaurant said the food was good. That was my reason for visiting with children. However, upon entering, the staff member wasn't moving fast enough. She immediately made this clear. She had no patience for anything. When the food was brought, the request for one empty plate was too much for her, which she sighed. To top it all off, none of the food tasted like Surinamese-Chinese food. It was like sandwiches or Tjauwmin.

The food here is incredible, and the prices are quite affordable compared to all the other restaurants in central Amsterdam! Highly recommended.

Terrible, DO NOT EAT HERE. My husband was so ill with food poisoning after eating at Kam Yin, it ruined our holiday in Amsterdam. He was vomiting and had diarrhea for 24 hours, then felt so weak to do anything. We were in a hurry to find somewhere to eat, the restaurant looked busy and was reasonably priced for the area, I now wished I had looked at previous reviews as other people had said that they were also ill.

My food wasn't tasty. The chicken had more bones than meat. The food was dry. It's heading towards mass production. Mobile phone charging costs €1 per 30 minutes. 🤣🤣 hmm, no thanks.

I can say that 15 years ago, the food here was delicious. This is the second time I've been, and the rice is rotten. One time, it was soup. It's pricey for the little you get, and the food quality is poor. Beef tenderloin in oyster sauce for €20 with four small pieces of meat packed with vegetables. What a rip-off, never again.

Busy restaurant, the service was excellent, as was the food. I did order a special drink, but received apple juice, but this didn't spoil the fun. The main highlight was the variety in the menu, there was plenty to choose from, and in my opinion everything was fresh when it arrived.
