Kantonees Restaurant Oriental Delight in Wijk 41 Emmen-Centrum Oost

The restaurant was very quiet during our visit. The service was very polite, attentive, and competent. The food was almost authentic, and the price-performance ratio was good. If we are ever in Emmen again, we would gladly return.

We had a delicious meal tonight at Oriental Delight! After spending a day at Wildlands, we were craving Chinese food. We enjoyed it very much. The welcome was super friendly; just pick a table. The ambiance was great. Not that cliché Chinese background music, but something more modern. This, combined with a beautiful interior, made the picture complete. Drinks arrived quickly, and there was plenty of choice on the menu. I chose No. 49, Tee-pan beef tenderloin. Deliciously tender meat and vegetables seasoned to perfection. My wife chose No. 28, something with chicken in a nest. Everything was edible. The small bowl of nasi was delicious, and we finished it all. We had a nice chat with the staff while paying the bill. In short, we thoroughly enjoyed this final dinner of an already successful day.

There were two of us sitting next to the takeaway area; not a nice spot. The staff were running back and forth, and the phone was ringing constantly. We ordered an Indonesian rijsttafel for two people: canned green beans, satay sauce completely tasteless, small bowls of pineapple, pickles? The babi pangang was decent. The chicken was dry. The rendang was full of greasy bits. A generous amount of tasteless food. A huge disappointment.

First Chinese restaurant we tried out in Emmen. Portions are smaller than what we are used to from Roelofarendsveen, but very tasty! Good Foe Yong Hai, Babi Pangang, noodles, rice, and the Szechuan beef tenderloin is highly recommended.

If you can't rely on your company, the service makes up for a lot :). Super nice people work there, lots of humor. The food was good too and the wine was tasty. However, there are few vegetarian options, especially these days.

We dined today to celebrate our late mother's birthday. Within the family, this restaurant was and is loved and revered. Upon arrival, the table was also set with a place setting for the deceased, which was a particularly lovely, sweet, and beautiful gesture. We chose to pick it up ourselves, but found the gesture very heartwarming. Our hostess was skilled, passionate, and she seamlessly sensed the situations at the table, making her sometimes part of our table and sometimes invisible. That is craftsmanship in being a hostess. Additionally, she knew how to tell beautiful anecdotes and stories, which enhanced our experience. Although I never ate the 'Emperor's Dinner' from childhood memories and always shivered at the thought, I went all out today. The kitchen distinguishes itself through exceptional mastery of flavors, preparation, and combinations. The courses followed one another as if naturally and were accompanied by a lovely bottle of white wine. Would I use the same tableware for the presentation of these dishes and wines? No, not really. But once a bite of this restaurant's passion and expertise has been taken, that is long forgotten. Next time, I will take guests along to experience this same thing. Hats off. J.G. Groote

We always came here because it was one of the better Chinese restaurants, but unfortunately, this time is definitely the last. The Kui Lu Kai came out of the microwave; no tasty, crispy chicken meatballs at all, but a soft, dry mush with dried-out pieces of chicken in it. The Tjap Tjoi was a complete disaster because it was just bean sprouts, so if you want vegetarian, you definitely shouldn't choose this dish here. It's really a shame.

Good food, nice service, worth repeating

One of the worst Asian restaurants I've ever been to. The flavors were truly awful. The "noodles" were clearly not noodles but just pasta, the meat was dry, and the peanut sauce was absolutely incompatible with the meat. This has little to do with an Asian restaurant—a complete rip-off, and quite expensive too.

We had such a delicious meal that when we're back in the Netherlands, we'll definitely eat here again! Friendly service. Food was delivered quickly. Highly recommended! 👍👍👍

A friendly welcome. We hadn't booked, so it was still quiet. Later, it got busy. I ordered a Chinese rice table for two. Everything looked good and was fresh. I found it a bit too salty. The babi pangang was a bit dry. The chicken curry wasn't too spicy, but tasted good. Tja tjoy with lots of vegetables was crunchy. The foe yong hai was somewhat tender, not dry. The shrimp were fresh and tender. The satay was chicken meat and cooked through, with a mild sauce. The fridge lo kai was crispy. The tomato soup was filled with chicken pieces and flavorful. The nasi was standard fare, nothing special, and not bad either. A good meal for €55.00.

Not good, not bad. Everything was a bit worn out. The staff was friendly. The atmosphere was dull.

I'd pre-ordered a pickup for Boxing Day. I arrived at the restaurant at the agreed-upon time, and the food was already ready. After a 10-minute drive, I discovered the food was anything but warm. It tasted fine, but it had clearly been sitting out for a while before I picked it up. It's a shame, because the food wasn't warm, which detracted from the flavor. Tip: purchase a warming cabinet or something similar to keep the food warm.

I rarely post, but "Terrible!" I walked in with my family. The white Dutch people were giving me a warm welcome, but we weren't at all. "Are you coming for takeout?" We told them we wanted to eat here, and they gave us a seat in the far corner of the restaurant. They acted like we couldn't afford it, like second-rate customers! We paid for two sodas and left. I felt completely uncomfortable!

What a disappointment, I drove there specifically because of the highest reviews in the region. It didn't look good; really, it didn't. The team paid minimal attention (because it was busy with takeout orders on a Sunday evening), the duck appetizer was decent; the orange sauce was very sweet, but the duck supposedly still had to be caught (which took ages!). The teppan arrived after another 45 minutes (not fun when you're dining alone, despite my kind request to speed things up a bit) and that was a disgrace. No tenderloin, just some tenderized, insignificant beef, some vegetables, mushrooms, and canned corn, and a completely tasteless, insipid sauce with flavor enhancers. My request for the Sichuan sambal was ignored. Despite my reaction, the waitress pretended to be completely clueless. All in all: not very hospitable, the food mediocre and certainly not authentic, and overall, seriously overrated. I really expected more. A shame, a missed opportunity.

Back to Emmen after a long time. Sorry, it's a bit out of the way. My parents used to eat here regularly. We were always enthusiastic, and even more so after this visit. This restaurant is top-notch, the best Chinese restaurant in the Netherlands.

We've eaten here several times, always a lovely, cozy atmosphere, and a great hostess. Even with a large group, everything went perfectly. We'll definitely be back.

I ordered noodles and nasi rames. Well, if this were nasi rames, I'd eat my shoe. I just got the same rice as with the other dishes. All the meat was dry and inedible. I don't write reviews often, but this was just not good.

This is probably the best Chinese restaurant in the area, every year whilst in the area we always make this lovely place a must, the place is lovely along with great staff and an amazing menu of which we always find extremely tasty and very generous portions all at very reasonable prices, for sure we’ll be back again

First time, good introduction; good food; nice staff, extensive menu. We didn't like Da-Xin with the new owner (and the same chefs according to Mrs. Ping) that much anymore. We will definitely come back!

We were here with a larger group and it was relatively busy. Perhaps because of this we had to wait relatively long, both for ordering and for the drinks and food to be brought. The portions were unfortunately too small for me, which is a shame because the taste is good. Payment was unfortunately also difficult because it is not possible individually and we were not prepared for this. I don't think I will eat here again anytime soon, given that there are more similar restaurants in Emmen.

Today I picked up food for the first time, the ambiance is cozy, nice restaurant at first glance, friendly ladies I spoke to, seems to me a nice restaurant to eat with the whole family. This fine Chinese Cantonese Restaurant gets a big 10 from us ‼️ Everything was tip top and fantastically seasoned. We wanted to eat with 4 adults and 4 children, and after some drinks and prawn crackers we waited another 1.5 hours for our food. Every time it was said, it's coming. We left and we still paid €90. Only a small apology, nothing else was communicated.

This afternoon I got a babi pangang combo with my daughter, it was my first time there. Babi meat was nice and crispy and the chicken satay is highly recommended, noodles are also great, number 107 was the dish and that is highly recommended, it was just completely tasty and really super tasty. It's been a long time since I ate such a good Chinese meal. Also nice and helpful service, it was actually pork satay, but because our daughter indicated something we were allowed to change it to chicken. Really great, thank you.

Had a nice meal here before Christmas, Chinese rice table for 2. More than enough for 2 days and very good quality. Friendly people and received a beautiful calendar.

December 2024: had dinner here on a Friday evening without a reservation. We arrived quite early and were the first. Opted for a menu from the chef for 36.50. These are 2 starters and a main course. The starter consisted of 4 tasty small snacks. Then a soup with chicken. This could use a little more flavor. When our main course was brought, the waiter came with 2 bowls of vegetables/meat and 2 bowls of rice/nasi. We thought that was it, but then 3 more bowls of vegetables/meat arrived. All different dishes. It was more than enough for a reasonable price. 2024: Walked in on a Wednesday evening without making a reservation. Several tables occupied. Quick help and friendly service. Food was delivered quickly. We had siew ab (roasted Peking duck) with white rice. Duck was delicious but a bit unimaginative and vegetableless. Lay on a bed of bean sprouts. As a sauce, choose from sweet-sour or oyster sauce. Can recommend the oyster sauce. I think 23.50 for the duck, white rice and sauce is a bit pricey. Quantity was sufficient. Very neat and clean interior.

Poor hygiene: received prawn crackers with remnants of curry sauce, probably from another table. For two mini amounts of red wine we were charged €9 and for a doggy bag we also had to pay €0.50. Disappointing experience, typical behavior of the country.

Lovely restaurant and also takeaway. Setting was very pleasant, staff friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. We had one of the four choices of a Rijstaffel, ((Cantonese) , which is starters, 5 smaller mains with choice of fried rice , steam rice or noodles and desert. We did get warm in the seating area by the window so a good job we could take our layers off. Plenty of locals dining plus people collecting their meals. The takeaway was totally separate to diners which was good.

Fast and great service on the phone. Think along and listen carefully. Good quality food and generous portions. Delicious, definitely worth repeating.

Excellent food and, above all, very nice service! The ladies behind the counter are always up for a nice chat about anything and everything. Makes waiting significantly more pleasant :-) The food itself is fine, but otherwise nothing special. No reason to complain, but also not exceptionally different from other takeaway restaurants. All in all, highly recommended if you live in the region or are visiting the area.

This is THE Chinese Restaurant for me. Friendly staff and excellent food. You feel at home here.

65 euros lighter, 5 minutes drive home and already cold. Dry meat and not what we ordered. Never go to this Chinese again, but drive back to our trusted address on Erica.

Restaurant has a good atmosphere. The food was disappointing. Taste was otherwise ok, but there was very little meat in my tie pan oriental. There were only two shrimp in it. As a starter I had the pangsit goring, which should have a nice piece of pork in the middle. There was nothing else in this at all. Not a piece to be seen. When I asked about it I was told that there is little meat in it anyway. We sat next to a windowsill with a large Chinese vase, the vase contained large artificial flowers. Very atmospheric, but the artificial flowers were covered in cobwebs, not really fresh and pleasant.

Food was not as good as usual. Normally always good but now very moist rice that was like shit in the bowl.

Oriental Delight is een 'ouderwets' restaurant. Geen wok en veel persoonlijke aandacht. Diner romantica voor 2 personen gegeten. Voorgerecht met salade, loempia, garnaal en tja sieuw; soep met ossenhaas; Kantonese nasi, ossenhaas met lenteuitjes, tiepan varkenshaas en kip. Zag er heel mooi uit en smaakte heel erg goed. Nagerecht was keuze uit koffie thee of ijs. We hebben heel erg lekker gegeten en komen zeker hier weer.

Lekker een Teakpan gegeten. Was meer dan voldoende. Zeer vriendelijk personeel. Voor herhaling vatbaar.

Gewoon een Chinees restaurant. Niet slecht en niet bijzonder goed maar beter dan gemiddeld. Ik ben vooral de Thaise keuken gewend en dat is toch wel van een veel betere kwaliteit. Voor een Chinees restaurant dus goed genoeg maar zeker niets speciaals. Gerechten zijn OK maar geen uitschieters. Je kan het slechter treffen.

The restaurant is nice and clean, the food was really nice, portions are good, service is ok.

Er is daar altijd super schoon en netjes. Vriendelijk personeel en denken ook mee als je vragen hebt. Eten is daar altijd lekker en goed bereid. 1 verbeter punt zou kunnen zijn daar er ook mensen zijn die daar graag eten vandaan willen, maar niet in staat zijn om het te halen. Kijken of er toch een mogelijkheid zou zijn om te kunnen bezorgen. Daarnaast zou het ook uniek zijn: enige Chinees restaurant in Emmen en omgeving die dat dan doet. Commercieel ook een sterk punt naast klant vriendelijkheid.

Heerlijk gegeten met 11 personen. Het restaurant was nog best gevuld en dat op een dinsdag avond. Eten en drinken kwam snel en de ober was ook grappig. Zeker aan te raden en we komen graag nog een keer.

Zeer vriendelijk ontvangen. Het eten was hemels. Zeker het proberen waard.

Goede en vriendelijke bediening. Mooie menu kaart en lekker eten. Niet slecht dus een echte aanrader.
