We had a delicious, authentic Thai meal. We both had a soup and a main course. It was deliciously spicy. That was more than enough for us. And it was also very affordable. The service was very friendly. If we lived nearby, we would definitely come back. Highly recommended!!

Delicious Thai Cuisine, a bit pricey but very good.

As a couple we had a very delicious meal. I had one with two pepperoni marked, which is (for us Europeans) quite spicy. I liked it very much. My wife had a meal without „spicy-warning“ and enjoyed it as well. Thank you! 😊

Once again fantastic food taken away. No matter which dish you order, make sure to get a bowl of satay sauce!

Without a reservation, we were lucky to get in, as it was almost full to begin with. Service was a bit slow, even though we were almost alone in the place after a short while. The food, however, was very good, with good quality and quantity. Chicken, vegetables & cashew nuts, and pork & vegetables were spicy (it really was!!).

Had another delicious meal here last week. Everything is right here; the delicious food, the excellent service and the nice atmosphere! Definitely recommended!

Food tastes authentic. Little gem here in town. Very tasty, good menu. A small downside is that the kitchen noises make a good conversation more difficult. I will definitely come back here!

Service is understaffed for a Saturday evening, but makes up for a lot with friendliness and commitment. Food is delicious and good price/performance. Fresh ingredients prepared just right. Dessert menu and execution are a bit poor, but that is not exactly what Thai cuisine is known for. Unfortunately not in the area for us, but would definitely go back.

They were able to accommodate a large party with short notice. We all had a great meal and would highly recommend them for dinner. Authentic food, nice spice level

We've been coming here for years. The food is truly traditional Thai with fresh ingredients. The Thai salad with steak is delicious. Service always friendly. One of the better Thai restaurants in North Holland!

Food was very good although a bit on the pricey side. Service was very nice, but a bit slow (I had to take the menu cards myself after sitting there for more than 5 minutes). We had to wait quite long for a stir fry although the place was not even half full. Overall, a good experience!

Khunchai is one of the best Thai restaurants I have been to! Everything we ordered was delicious and prepared fresh in the open kitchen. Absolutely recommend this hidden gem!

Despite confirmation, the pick-up order had not gone through and we therefore had to wait forty minutes. We were not offered a drink or anything, not even a 'sorry'. Missed opportunity and last time. Shame!

Ended up here by chance after a day at the beach, while looking for a Thai restaurant nearby, this one came up with good reviews. Deliciously authentic Thai, deliciously spicy and more than enough. Only the tomato pieces in the soup could be a little smaller, otherwise delicious. Service friendly and helpful. Definitely recommended!

What a drama. Never had such tasteless Thai food before. Apparently there were no herbs and/or other flavorings present in the kitchen. Maybe we're in a bad position when I read all those rave reviews. You will not see our group of 6 people in this restaurant again and to anyone who asks my opinion, I will tell them to choose a good Thai restaurant and certainly not Kunchai. Ambience very mediocre, service without any enthusiasm, food poor.

Authentic Thai food? You don't have to go to Thailand for it. Go to Khunchai in Alkmaar, one of the best Thai kitchens in the Netherlands, I am convinced. Everything fresh and made on the spot. The chef(s) do not compromise; is a specific ingredient not available? Then the dish will not be served that day. Purely because they go for quality. Atmosphere: 9. Staff: 9. Additional proof that this restaurant is top notch: these visitors will not readily admit it, but fellow chefs from the region are regular guests here. Then it must be good! How lucky we are in Alkmaar to have a top restaurant like Khunchai!

Restaurant Khunchai is a great small Thai restaurant. From the outside it is easy to walk by it. However once inside it has a great atmosphere. It's small but tastefully decorated with plants and hints of Thai culture. They have an open kitchen where you can see the cooks do their thing. The food itself was wonderfull, we had the Tomkha kai soup, which was delicious and for the main course my wife had Moe Kratiem Prikthai (Pork tenderloin with garlic, white pepper, spring onions, onions and different Thai sauces) which was very rich in taste. I myself went for Keng Massaman (Beef with cashew nuts, potato, red onions, coconut milk and Thai brown curry). It was very good, creamy and rich in taste. I thoroughly enjoyed it. All in all I can highly recommend Khunchai. But don't forget to make a reservation, it is small and popular.

The food was excellent, although a number of dishes on the menu cannot be ordered, including the mix of starters. Can be ordered separately, very strange because it is 5x more expensive. A steamed sea bream and sometimes fresh spring rolls are not served. They are very busy with orders, so the elaborate dishes are probably not served. Staff not as friendly as in Thailand. We will try again based on the response to our review. Check whether the mix of starters can be ordered for 2 people. And whether the service is a bit friendlier. Everyone deserves a second chance.

We had dinner here on June 18, during our stay in Egmond aan Zee. In one word FANTASTIC. Delicious Phad Thai and Beef with lots of fresh garlic. We love Thai food and try to eat it in every place we stay. In our opinion, Khunchai is one of the best! ... a gem in Alkmaar

This is the best Thai restaurant in Alkmaar. Their Thai green curry is simply one of the best I have ever tasted! Food is cooked fresh and flavour is amazing. Prices are reasonable for what you get. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
