I may not be a Michelin Star Critic, but I'm proud 8* Google Guide with 4.500.000 views!!! In all my life I have never seen a such Obnoxious, Rude, Unpolite Waitress!!! You could tell that only one of us was Flemish, so the old waitress was very annoyed because we asked for a menu in ANY other Language!!! So she stopped and after a looking time she came back to continue with our order. FORBIDDEN to take open drinks to the tables. So we got a frozen water and we asked for natural. She grumble, moan, gesture and never came back. So I stood up went across the restaurant and asked to an old Gentleman: ¿Do you speak English, can I talk to the Manager? I'm the Manager myself This young lady CAN'T have nothing cold, can you please be kind to help me? The Waitress came running "aaahhh nnnooooo" So I made a gesture to ordered she SHUT UP The Manager was very polite and friendly!!! Even so, when she carry the retangular dishes she throw them to the table. What a lack of professionalism Sometimes 1 Person can RUIN a Business. WHAT A SHAME

What was this even? I came to eat, not to a live "waitress underwear" show. Could the waiters please put on a belt? I've seen more boxers than dishes on the menu today. Ordering was also quick... well, quick. Smacking gum with my mouth open and answers like, "Uh... I don't know 🤷‍♂️." Top-notch knowledge of the menu, truly impressive. As a customer, I don't expect a Michelin-starred experience, but a little professionalism would go a long way. Less smacking, less underwear, more knowledge of what you're selling. Conclusion: I had a good laugh, but the food? Well. Once is enough. 😅

Avoid, terrible service, disappointing food. A glorified chip shop, but everyone's fries were bad. The frikandel was severely overcooked, and the schnitzel was disappointing. But the service was unacceptable: drinks were served too slowly, food was forgotten, no cutlery, and it was unfriendly.

The elderly man at the entrance treats people very badly, especially those with babies. The waiters, however, are great.

Avoid this tourist trap! At the door some sort of a bouncer tells you that you can pay cash only (what might the reason be???) and then you’re told to squeeze at the smallest table possible. You kind of have to be grateful that the grumpy waitress even allows you to order something. Fries tasteless, toilets not clean, toilet paper was replaced by someone from the kitchen (!) who was wearing something full of stains. Horrible experience!

We waited in line, and we were denied entry simply because someone in our group was finishing a small portion of take away fries. The staff spoke to us in an extremely rude manner. Truly disappointing and unworthy of Dutch hospitality standards.

Absolutely avoid this place. Unpleasant welcome and mandatory cash payment (no cards), hello taxman! Unfriendly and arrogant waitress. The food was barely edible: overcooked chicken and fish, and the remoulade sauce was disgusting. A disastrous experience.

What a fantastic place! My colleague and I worked here, and every time we visited, all our appointments were meticulously fulfilled. They were also so hospitable that we even got something to eat afterward – how great is that? 😋 And the chicken… wow, truly fantastic and delicious! If you love good chicken and a warm atmosphere, you really can't miss Kippenbar Vesting Grill. Definitely worth a visit!

Came here for dinner as part of a team event, and it was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had. The chicken was extremely salty—borderline inedible. When we politely informed the waiter, he spoke to the owner. Instead of addressing the issue professionally, the owner came to our table and started shouting, arrogantly claiming that “this is how we make our chicken for the last 40 years.” What shocked us most was not just the refusal to accept feedback, but his complete unwillingness to even taste the dish himself. Zero accountability. Zero professionalism. The way the owner behaved toward both customers and his own staff was rude, dismissive, and embarrassing. If this is how feedback is handled, then the problem is clearly not the chicken—it’s the attitude. Running a restaurant for 40 years does not automatically teach customer service. Unfortunately, this owner seems to have learned nothing about respect, hospitality, or basic manners in all that time. Never coming back, and I strongly advise others to think twice before dining here.

A very disappointing and disrespectful experience. The food was simply inedible. Both the whole and half chickens were extremely salty—so salty that it was physically impossible to eat them. This had nothing to do with taste, but with a complete lack of balance and care in the preparation. When we politely raised this issue with the staff, however, we were treated in a truly shocking way. Instead of understanding, apologies, or an attempt at a solution, we received an extremely rude response. They literally said that "it's been made this way for years" and that the problem was ours. This message was also delivered in a disrespectful and derogatory tone, something you absolutely shouldn't expect as a paying customer. No effort was made to take the problem seriously. We weren't offered a new chicken, even though the original dish was simply inedible. The excessive salt made it impossible to continue eating, but this was completely ignored. What makes this experience especially disgusting is the way people are treated. A restaurant or bar should take responsibility, take feedback seriously, and treat customers with respect—even (or especially) when there's a complaint. There was no trace of professionalism, customer friendliness, or empathy here. As a customer, I expected significantly better. Not just in terms of food, but especially in terms of attitude and service. This experience was deeply disappointing and definitely not worth a visit.

My family and I were in the beautiful town of Valkenburg and couldn't resist the delicious aroma of chicken wafting from the window of this restaurant. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and the staff was friendly. The service was polite, and the food was served quickly. Everything was delicious, especially the grilled chicken, which is the restaurant's signature dish. We will definitely be back.

My brother and his wife had been there and told us this restaurant was very good and the food was delicious. We've now been there twice, and it was delicious and inexpensive, with good service. We were very happy and enjoyed our meal with my wife, in a wonderful Christmas atmosphere. We'll definitely be back next year.

The staff was very friendly, we only had to wait a short time for a table, and the food arrived super fast. The first bite was fantastic: beautifully cooked chicken with tons of flavor, delicious mushroom sauce, and crispy fries. Great value and extremely delicious. The interior is also super cozy. Every year we visit the Christmas market and finish with a meal at the chicken bar. They're always delicious, and the sauerkraut is also wonderful.

In a country where potatoes are a must, I've never eaten such horrible fries. Chicken dry and without taste. Service? Bill was 67 euros, we paid cash (only cash for some strange reason, now I understand why) with 100 euros, and she gave us 30 euros in change without even asking if we wanted to leave a tip. Guys, terrible. Clear trap, and I fell for it. Avoid.

Hello, We went to this restaurant with our family. It's amazing. We loved the food. The staff was great. There was a very kind gentleman with white hair who greeted us. The atmosphere was calm. Top-notch restaurant.

In a word, fantastic. The staff were very hospitable. We looked at the menu outside and were greeted warmly almost immediately and welcomed in. A table was arranged for us immediately, and we were able to order straight away. The half chicken was excellent. With fries, salad, applesauce, and peas with carrots, it felt like you were dining at your own grandmother's. It truly gives you a wonderful feeling. If we're ever in Valkenburg again, we'll definitely be back.

During my visit to Vestiging Grill in Valkenburg, I was pleasantly surprised by both the food and the atmosphere. I chose the half chicken with fries, lettuce, and mayonnaise, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The rotisserie chicken had a beautiful golden brown color and was wonderfully juicy and crispy. The fries were perfectly cooked, the lettuce was nice and fresh, and the mayonnaise completed the meal. The space itself is neat, cozy, and inviting, creating a warm feeling from the moment you enter. The restaurant was also festively decorated for the holidays, which made the experience extra special. The staff was friendly, attentive, and regularly asked if everything was to my liking. The service was also prompt, which is always pleasant. Moreover, the price-quality ratio is excellent: I ate more than enough and felt I got my money's worth. In short, Vestiging Grill is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys good food and a cozy atmosphere!

After 20 years of frequenting Valkenburg, I finally gave this place a try. You'll find much better places here with good food and excellent service. Absolutely subpar, don't go!

Delicious chicken and chicken schnitzel with good accompaniment

It was inedible; the chickens hanging at the front of the grill were the lure. The chicken satay was scooped straight out of the bucket, bone-dry and tough! And the service was grumpy and chaotic. So the reviews don't lie. Luckily, I ate elsewhere afterward to make up for it.

It's a shame the old owner is still around; it doesn't exactly improve the atmosphere. The food was delicious, with excellent chicken and fries. Also a very reasonable price. The terms were very kind.

We stumbled upon this restaurant thanks to the juicy, rotating chickens displayed in the window and the truly cozy atmosphere. Naturally, we opted for the half chickens with sides, and I must say, I've rarely eaten such a fantastic, juicy, crispy, and perfectly seasoned chicken. The fries and the sauce were also wonderful. It was outstanding, and I can hardly imagine where the negative reviews come from. I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant!

Wow... The golden chickens are already glistening at you from the impressive grill of "Vesting Grill" in the heart of Valkenburg. In charming, secluded booths for 4 to 6 people, you can feast at absolutely affordable prices. We're talking, for example, a perfectly grilled half chicken, chicken satay, steak, or schnitzel with fries—well-prepared, butter-tender meat, all under €15. The super friendly waitress is attentive to her customers. Highly recommended.

The food was good , the taste was nice , server was very friendly , unlike oher reviews that say there was screaming in the kitchen this was not the case? Seems like they made some changes for the better. If these accusations are even real or realistic. The chicken was cooked to perfection. Juicy with tons of taste, I highly recommend the mushroom sauce!

We were really looking forward to this "chicken restaurant," but alas. After checking the order twice, the wrong thing was delivered. I think the chicken satay was cooked tenderloin, but that's better than my son's schnitzel. It was still so raw it almost flew off the plate. "Would you like something else?" No, never mind... You'd think we'd get an apology, but no. I did get the bill for a €4 portion of fries, because, well, my son had eaten four... uhm... never again!

Little to nothing to complain about. I've been going there since I was old enough for the falconer. Even though a wall has been added over the years and you can no longer admire the rotiserie from the seating area, it still feels old and familiar. There's plenty of game on offer for everyone. The half chicken looks a bit small compared to the old days, the portion of fries has shrunk a bit. The mayo is a bit too little, and the applesauce is generous. However, as a big eater, I had just enough with one whole chicken, one salad, one mayo, and one applesauce. As far as I'm concerned, it's old and familiar, and top-notch because of its simplicity.

Nice authentic chicken grill restaurant. Reasonable prices and a delicious chicken menu. My husband knew it from a long time ago; the hospitality hasn't changed a bit. Extremely friendly staff, who go above and beyond for you. Extra applesauce? It was arranged. Service with a broad smile. The chicken was deliciously grilled and not dry at all. The half chicken was delicious, it's just a shame there weren't any vegetables with the rice or fries, and you had to have the sauce separately with the rice, otherwise you wouldn't have any sauce with the white rice. And the sauce isn't very generous; you only get a tiny little jar of mayonnaise. The service, however, is excellent.

A cozy restaurant with reasonable prices. We were served by two new staff members, who, despite taking an incorrect order, were very friendly and helpful. The owner was also very sweet. We had a delicious meal here for a good price, and the two of us paid no more than 40 euros, including food.

Unfortunately I have to confirm what other reviews say. The lady running the place does not seem to grasp the concept of awkwardness. She is constantly shouting at the staff, making the whole experience very very awkward and unpleasant. The food was ok and the price was right. I want to say this to the young girl who is working there currently (Lunch shift, 13 July 2025) and served us today: you can leave, its ok, that place is what is known as a toxic work environment, and luckily it is not the norm. Just find something else.

We always stay in an apartment and every year we get 2 half chickens with fries. Nice to eat "at home" with some salad and apple sauce. Delicious chickens, nice crispy skin and tender meat. We can't wait to go on holiday again.

You enter at 19:30, welcome but then they come at 19:45 with the bill your food is just on the table. After paying by card you can't order anything anymore. But you can stay seated the staff goes home the cook (fry chef) stays a while, we left the place. Dry chicken and half baked fries. What an unbelievably bad restaurant never again

Één woord is eigenlijk meer dan genoeg; Vreselijk! Hieronder de toelichting; Gegrilde haantjes, zijn gisteren (of mischien wel eergisteren) gegrild. Droog als hout en taai als rubber. Mijn partner vraagt om een bitter lemon, krijgt ze een Spa rood.. Ik denk verkeerd getapt gaf het meisje van de bediening aan, komt ze twee tellen later terug, met het zelfde glas Spa rood, maar nu met een schijfje citroen,tja dan wordt de Spa rood inderdaad vanzelf wel bitter. Tijdens het bestellen vroegen we ook om een salade, wordt bij het serveren van de haantjes vergeten..Uiteindelijk krijgen we alsnog de salade ;Lees een bruin gevlekte stuk krop ijsbergsla met een sausje er overheen.. Eerste en laat keer. Beste mensen, zonde om hier uw tijd en geld te verspillen! Genoeg andere tentjes waar ze de klant wel bedienen zoals het zou moeten.

The waiter was very friendly and spoke German. We were warmly welcomed. In these "bays" you are well separated with glass, the tables seem a bit narrow, but you still sit comfortably there. I liked the Frikandel Spezial and I like the fries crispy. We cannot recommend the schnitzel with hunter sauce. The fried schnitzel itself was ok. Considering it's a snack bar, the prices were a bit high. Mayo and ketchup cost extra and for my taste too much for such a small bowl. It's fine for a visit and a little peckish in the evening, but unfortunately not for a great restaurant on vacation.

Reçu sur le pas de la porte grossièrement. Comme ils ne prennent pas les reservations, on doit attendre qu'une table se libère. Et.. Une table de deux personnes venait de se libérer. Je me présente et je me fais refouler car ils voulaient serrer les places et y mettre 4 personnes. Le réceptionniste m'a quasi engueulé quand j'ai voulu pénétrer dans l'établissement ! Plus jamais !

Heerlijk gegeten. Beslist een aanrader als je in Valkenburg bent. Nergens zo/n lekkere hanen als in de Vesting Grill. Ook gedurende de Kerstmarkt hebben ze tijd voor je. En ik vind het prima als je wordt opgewacht om je naar de tafel te begeleiden. Dit gebeurt tegenwoordig in heel veel zaken.

What a bad choice this restaurant is. At first glance it seems interesting, a chicken grill is of course something that attracts attention. Once inside, the service is not really friendly, there is no atmosphere, it is an old mess and dirty. Children were just sitting at the table, so we stayed. The food was also a real disappointment. The chicken was cold, and the steak was very tough, never had anything so bad. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
