Wilhelminatoren Valkenburg in Wijk 00: Valkenburg

Apparently, the tower collapsed this winter. So there's nothing left of the tower.

I have been in that tower a few years ago, 2009 or 2007

It's a shame this tower collapsed completely. Bad news for both the owners and the municipality of Valkenburg... That could have ended very differently. Let's hope this building is rebuilt soon in its original style.

The Wilhelmina Tower is a bit of nostalgia for me. My parents used to take us there often, and now that we were near Valkenburg, I couldn't resist taking my own family up to the tower, taking the cable car up, having a bite to eat on the mountain, and then doing some tobogganing! You can also climb the tower, and for the adrenaline junkies, you can abseil down it; how cool!

The tower is located in the marl caves I think.

Service is poor, you have to take it yourself, and even then, the staff don't always know what they're doing. There are items on the limited menu that they apparently haven't had for weeks. The atmosphere is poor, with little decoration or ambiance. The appetizer from the amuse-bouche tour was not tasty. The breadsticks were so hard as if they had been open for days; normally, you can't really fault that. It's a beautiful location where you could make something nice, but the effort was clearly spared.

Great place for a bite to eat and a drink. It's a busy place and not very atmospheric.

Extremely noisy atmosphere. You have to get everything yourself. I wouldn't call this a restaurant, more like a cafeteria or lunch garden; you have to do everything yourself there.

Restaurant was zeer matig. Tafels waren nog vies, stond overal nog kopjes van andere mensen. We bestelde een bittergarnituur en wat te drinken. Bittergarnituur was aangebrand…

It's a pity that the tower itself is not accessible during the week.

Accessed 10 Nov 2024. Just had a drink. Self service. Get your own drink. But staff are friendly. It's a pity that I came all the way up only to find - after a long search where you can climb the Wilhelmina Tower - that it is closed. For safety reasons because the wiring for the Christmas lights comes together at the top of the tower and it is then impossible for people to look around and enjoy the view. The friendly self-service staff told me this. So I fully understand that. Perhaps one can indicate this at the bottom of the cable car? And also perhaps at the Valkenburg (tourism) office? So if you want to climb this tower from early November to early January, it is best to choose a different period. Everything else is open in the WE: cable car, toboggan run, ... So climbing the tower is definitely on my agenda again on my next visit to Valkenburg.

Hier geluncht. Heerlijke en uitgebreide kaart. Vriendelijke bediening en een mooie zaak. Tevens een mooi uitzicht. Terras zal in de zomer ideaal zijn met uitkijk over Vaals.

Sorry, but the price comparison of food and drinks is incredible, the view is beautiful, but that's where it ends. Staff seems to share the same opinion

Nice to do. With cable car, tickets for which you can buy at the entrance. Very handy. There is a lot to do above at Wilhelminatoren. Tobogganing and abseiling from the Wilhelmina Tower. Tubing and adventure mini golf. You can also do something indoors downstairs. We had something to eat at the Wilhelminatoren and then went back down. Photos in the cable car are taken downstairs and can be purchased upon return.

I ordered a pudding crumb pie with tea. It is self-service here and that gives it a bit less atmosphere. Lots of place to sit outside. In addition to eating in the tower, you can go tobogganing, play mini golf, zip-line from the Wilhelmina tower and go down with a band for the kids. You can go up by cable car, but it can also be reached by car.

You can only get there by cable car. Footpath is closed. So to have a drink there, you first have to buy a ticket and stand in the long line to go up.

Beautiful place, but sitting very quietly is not possible due to the loud music and the chairs that make noise when sliding: maybe put caps underneath?

A restaurant under the tower with tables overlooking the Valkenburg skyline. Tasty food, but very long wait to be served.

Nice terrace with a view. Pulled pork sandwiches were perfect! Unfortunately the tower was not accessible.

Great views and the ski lift up is wonderful. Plenty for children to do. Could have had a few more drink / food stalls.

We went up with the chair lift, where we had something to drink and a croquette sandwich. Drinks came quickly, but we had to wait 25 minutes for the sandwich. If I hadn't asked, we wouldn't have had him yet.

Tower was not open due to the Christmas lights, no communication provided downstairs or on the website. Toilets were not so clean. Christmas market and fairytale forest were also not open. Toboggan run was open, but the site said it was closed.

Duur en eten /drinken heel matig. Warme chocolademelk is niet warm en de slagroom is erg klonterig. Qua locatie prachtig natuurlijk maar de prijs en kwaliteit zijn beneden pijl

Für die Fahrt rauf 5,50Euro. Oben angekommen 4 Weihnsmarktstände. Essen ??? Eine Frikandel mit Ketschab aus der Tüte. Getränke OK. Wir wahren enttäuscht Aussicht über die Stadt war schön. Das war alles.

Ήταν Σάββατο πρωί και αποφασίσαμε να πάμε στο Wilhelminatoren Valkenburg,καθώς είχαμε ακούσει πολλά γι’αυτό.Είχε πολύ κρύο(συνιστώ να το επισκεφθείτε το καλοκαίρι)!Κόψαμε εισιτήρια και μπήκαμε στο τελεφερίκ, το οποίο δεν έκανε πολύ μεγάλη διαδρομή.Μόλις κατεβήκαμε επισκεφθήκαμε την καφετέρια,από την οποία μπορείς να δεις όλο το Valkenburg.Το προσωπικό της ήταν πολύ ευγενικό,ενώ τα γλυκίσματα της ήταν πολύ νόστιμα(και σε πολύ καλές τιμές)!Γενικά ήταν πολύ ωραία!❤️❤️❤️

Ik vond het daar alles behalve gezellig en het kleine hapje dat we hebben gegeten was ook niet je van het. De chocomel met slagroom was ok.

Kerstmarkt was dicht, de uitkijktoren was dicht eigenlijk deed alleen de kabelbaan en midgetgolf het. Erg jammer had graag meer willen zien en willen rodelen

Het heeft de naam restaurant, maar cafetaria is meer gepast. Er is geen bediening, je moet je eten bestellen en afhalen bij de bar. De kaart is feitelijk die van een snackbar. Het eten wordt ook geserveerd in wegwerp bakjes. Het eten zelf is voor een cafetaria van prima kwaliteit, maar restaurantwaardig zou ik het niet noemen. De prijs kwaliteit verhouding is goed. Van buiten ziet het pand er mooi uit, van binnen stelt het niet veel vol. Vooral zo vol mogelijk gezet met tafeltjes en weinig sfeer. Er is een (overdekt) terras aanwezig waar je mooi uitzicht over de valei hebt. Samengevat, ik zou er niet speciaal naar toe rijden, maar als je trekt hebt kun je er wat eten voor een redelijke prijs.

Met de kabelbaan omhoog, dan gelijk even een kopje koffie halen. En warme chocolademelk met slagroom, deze werd echter met poeder bereid dat je zelf moest roeren, hier betaal de volle mep voor en het is echt NIET TE DRINKEN!!! Chocolademelk hier GÉÉN aanrader. Ook al zegt het personeel dat het beter is….. het is slecht!!!

Kabelbaantje naar boven, voor de jeugd tokkelen, sleeën. Prachtig uitzicht over Valkenburg. Redelijke horeca met gemiddeld prijsniveau. Wandelend naar beneden (kan ook met de kabelbaan). Pad is soms lastig. Leuke attractie al met al.

Beperkte openingstijden (die ook nog eens niet in Google getoond worden). We zijn er buiten openinstijden geweest, maar je kunt nergens normaal staan doordat er geen uitzichtplateau is (uitgezonderd het terras). Uitzicht wordt belemmert door de kabelbaan. Alles oogt verouderd en er lijkt weinig innovatie in te zitten. En sowieso niet invalidevriendelijk

The cable car experience was very good and the views from the restaurant very nice. Ordered a veggie burger which was enjoyable but a little on the pricey side. When you order at the bar the staff give you an electronic timer which will flash when the order is ready to collect.

De thrill om van de toren af te glijden. Wie kan dat weerstaan. Voor 10 euro pp kun je het zelf meemaken.

It was okay. They didn't do anything about drunk groups of men harassing tourists while getting served more alcohol. Felt like an unsafe space at times.

Dit is geen restaurant maar een cafetaria. Met vlaai natuurlijk. De boel is oud, echt iets van vroeger. Maar net zoals de pier in Scheveningen moet je er een keer naartoe. De meeste reviews betrekken de rodelbaan en stoeltjeslift in hun ervaring en dat is niet zo eerlijk. Deze review gaat immers over het "restaurant". Vette hap is prima. Maar tafels werden slecht afgeruimd door de gasten en vervolgens ook slecht schoongemaakt door personeel.

Wilhemina was niet aanwezig. Was niet speciaal. Uitzicht was ook niet spectaculair. Toren zelf was wel mooi maar lijkt wat vervallen en slecht onderhouden. Beetje jammer van dit soor history. Niks gegeten bij het restaurant zelf.

Was toch beetje tegenvaller wel leuk met kinderen, uitzicht wel erg mooi

Ik denk als dit restaurant niet op deze lokatie zou liggen geen enkel bestaansrecht heeft. Zelf bestellen en afhalen aan de balie binnen, zelf je tafel afruimen en als je pech hebt ook de zooi van je voorgangers die dit niet nodig vonden. Gezien het gegeven dat er GEEN bediening is zijn de prijzen allerhande. Een Frits voor €3,- mag wel gebracht worden denk ik zo. Al met al wel een mooi uitzicht.

Muy bien para entrar en calor tomando una taza de vino caliente(3€). Es muy grande, con muchas mesas.

Lekker wat gegeten en gedronken, leuk personeel daar

Het tochtje met de kabelbaan naar boven was leuk. De ingang dan de uitkijktoren is in het restaurant. Het restaurant zelf is super oubollig met een zelfbedieningsbuffet. personen niet echt gastvrij. En behoorlijk aan de prijs. De toren is wel leuk om te beklimmen maar een extra leuning bij het laatste stuk van de trap is geen overbodige luxe! Verder was het laatste stukje echt glad vanwege de sneeuw die was gevallen. Erg gevaarlijk. Mooi uitzicht.

Helaas tijdens ons bezoek gesloten. De uitzicht was goed, maar op een zonnige voorjaarsdag hadden wij deze toren in geopende toestand verwacht.

Top locatie, kan druk zijn! Van tevoren reserveren dus

Leuk zitten. Slappe automaat koffie.

Simpel koffie, vlaai afhalen. Geen bediening aan tafel.

Wat een heerlijk plekje. Veel mogelijk heden voor in de zon of in de schaduw te zitten. makkelijk te komen via de kabelbaan. Keuze is beperkt, dus lekker overzichtelijk.

Lekker gegeten bij het Wilhelmina restaurant in Valkenburg. Mooi uitzicht op het dorpje van Valkenburg. Een paar dingen vielen mij wel tegen, een is sowieso de prijs, niet normaal een portie frietjes voor 5,00😦 ook vonden wij de tafels klein van formaat. En ten derde ging de deur van de wc super hard dicht, SUPER VERVELEND. Gelukkig ondanks al deze minpunten heb ik wel lekker gegeten.

Veel dingen te doen rondom Wilhelmina toren. Stoeltjeslift (leuk), rodelbaan (leuk), tokkelbaan vanaf de toren (niet gedaan maar lijkt leuk). Mooi plekje om een drankje te doen. Restaurant zelf is niet erg bijzonder, meeste is gewoon snackbar eten. Wel een goed idee om even te bezoeken bij een weekend Valkenburg.
