Koco Bistro in Wijk 00: Valkenburg

We came here for dinner because of all the good reviews. And we didn't regret it for a moment. Super friendly service, cozy decor, extensive menu, delicious dishes, and the cocktail was sublime. We had the curry croquettes as an appetizer and then the surprise box with seven different dishes. All highly recommended. Unfortunately, we couldn't finish everything.

We ate here for the first time because we were craving Asian food. Reservations aren't accepted on Fridays and Saturdays, but there was plenty of room this time, though it quickly filled up later. The service was quick and friendly, and the menu is extensive enough with plenty of tasty sharing options. We had gyoza, karage, and the salmon teriyaki. The portions were generous, everything tasted great, and it was beautifully presented. This is definitely recommended, and we'd love to come back again next time.

Definitely recommended in Valkenburg. We ordered the Bento box for two people. Perfect if you like a good mix and want to try a bit of everything. We were already fans, and the homemade iced tea was also delicious!

We had a delicious meal from a meat platter for two. It looked delicious and was definitely not expensive. Chicken, lamb, steak, or spare ribs. It was perfect. More than enough for the two of us.

High scores BUT very mediocre food. I find the price-quality ratio severely lacking. Cashew chicken with 6 cashews. A LOT of soy sauce, so very salty. The noodles are mostly thick noodles without any noodles. The salad is a pile of lettuce and carrots with one slice of tomato on a serving plate with paper underneath. I ordered extra prawn crackers and never received them. Incomprehensible tourist information and TripAdvisor recommendations, as far as I'm concerned. Friendly service. They can't help it either that the chef (apparently) produces street food = nothing particularly tasty!

Disappointed, the reviews promised so much more. Food appeared to be pre-prepared and warmed up to serve. Green curry was nigh on inedible. Starters were adequate, nothing special. The Philippine Pork was fairly good. Coconut rice was a travesty, why not just call it what it is, slightly stodgy white rice. Also if you are only going to fill the Ginger tea glass halfway be prepared to refill it with hot water when asked, the meal cost 149 euros, providing a glass of hot water is not going to bankrupt you!

The food was truly amazing. We were very surprised. It was delicious. We just found the service really annoying. They were standing three meters away, chatting at length about personal matters. Literally intelligible. Way too loud. They were trying really hard to be friendly, and they were. They completely forgot to take pictures. How stupid. The food was truly fantastic.

We unexpectedly ended up here, and it turned out to be a lovely, pleasant little place. The friendly service, in particular, makes this 5-star restaurant worth it. The food was fine—not the best Asian food I've ever had, but certainly not the worst either. Simply good. What was nice: some surprising drinks and dishes on the menu. I found the small tables and tiered stands on which the food is served less practical; they look nice, but are actually too small and impractical if you order a lot and want to share. I also found the tables very cramped. All in all: simply excellent and definitely worth a try if you're in Valkenburg.

This is by far the worst Indonesian food and drink I ever had in Netherlands, also in my life. Don't get me wrong, I'm an Indonesian woman who live in Netherlands for 8 years and already went to many Indonesian and Asian restaurants. I went to this bistro 3 years ago, and the food and drink was delicious, including the sambal. I even bought 2 jars of the sambal to take home. It was that delicious. So that's why when we have our vacation again in Valkenburg, I was very excited to go to this bistro. Who knew that my expectations to have a delicious dinner was entirely crushed the moment I got my drink. I don't know if it's because I chose the wrong food and drink. I chose es cendol (my must have drink in any Indonesian bistro/restaurant) and mie goreng tek-tek. The es cendol tastes so weird, far from the taste of es cendol that I know (both in NL and Indonesia). It's so weird that I can only take a few sips from its 0.5 l portion. I chose Mie Tek-tek because it's claimed as one of the authentic food. So i have a high expectation to taste a real Indonesian mie goreng. And boy, how i was wrong. The mie/noodles is very hard, it's even harder than al dente spaghetti. It's taste is dominated by sesame oil (which we don't use in our authentic goreng), very sweet and salty and other weird taste that I couldn't even explain. Finally I can only eat the topping: chicken crispy. It was good. Unfortunately I can only eat two forks of the mie goreng. So no more Koco Bistro for me, helaas.

We had a truly wonderful meal here last Saturday! The food was delicious, and the young waitress absolutely deserves a compliment; she's fantastic. Tip: definitely get a jar of homemade sambal, it's truly fantastic!

I'm 54, Belgian, and unfortunately, I didn't grow up with Indonesian cuisine, but I do love it. That's why I often drive across the border to experience Indonesian cuisine. I can honestly say that Koco Bistro is the absolute best I've ever tasted. Honest, rich, and phenomenally flavorful dishes that demonstrate authentic craftsmanship. Where cooking becomes art! You can taste the passion, love, and time the chefs put into these dishes in every bite. Exceptionally friendly service. Exceptionally good prices. A wonderful menu. ABSOLUTELY recommended!! Fantastic little gem in Valkenburg offering delicious Indo/Asian food dishes. Just off the beaten path, which made it perfect for us as we prefer a quieter atmosphere. I had the Sate Babi and hubby had the Sate Ayam, both delicious, with generous portions. Staff was wonderful and attentive. Highly recommend when visiting Valkenburg.

We were seated without a reservation. There's an extensive menu with plenty of choices. After much deliberation and a lot of patience from the staff, we enjoyed a delicious meal. We never had to wait long for our food. The quantity was definitely sufficient. And the staff was super friendly. The starter and main course were excellent. The dessert, in my opinion, wasn't typically Asian (lava cake, ice cream, crème brûlée, etc.), but it was absolutely delicious.

Really delicious food! We had the Rendang and the Nasi Campur rice table. Above all, the Rendang really stands out. That doesn't change the fact that everything was really tasty and the service excellent. We were too late to make a reservation but we had to wait in front of the door. A table was prepared and that was more than worth the wait. If we come back to Valkenburg, we will come back here too!

Happy hoor from 17 to 18h, table reserved at 17h we were there a bit earlier and ordered a few minutes before 17h. We still had to pay the full price, while we got everything served after 17h. We feel cheated, no advertising for this business.

We left with a hangover. The food was good, but we had made a reservation for happy hour and because we ordered just before 5pm we still had to pay the full price. We felt cheated.

Weekend Valkenburg! We saw at Koco Bistro Asian streetfood like soto mie ayam, cendol etc, but also beef rendang and satay! In the end my wife took a small soto mie ayam and I took a large, because I love Soto Ayam and also 2 Chang beers and 1 cendol. Cendol was decorated with a lemon slice? and an orange fruit?. Lemon slice put away and taste of cendol was not bad. Soto mie ayam did not taste like soto ayam, looked more like soto Betawi with pieces of tomato, noodles, lettuce, 3 or 4 bean sprouts, red onion rings, chicken and a boiled egg. It did not only taste like turmeric (yellow carrot), but also like some dominant herb (Indian). Instead of red onion rings (has a strong dominant taste) there should be fried onions! Bean sprouts can be counted (3 or four), thin noodles are not soehoen (a type of rice noodle), separately on a wooden tray coriander leaves, slices of red peppers and ketjap? Soto ayam should have celery and leek, but no coriander leaves (smelly and strong tasting)! All in all, I'm glad I only ordered this one and didn't order satay and beef rendang! If you sell Asian street food such as Vietnamese, Indonesian soups, etc., try to get as close to the taste as possible and use as many original ingredients as possible, but not coriander leaves instead of celery, which tastes completely different! Red onion rings taste very different from fried onions! In the meantime, I also indicated to the service staff about the taste and composition of cendol and soto mie ayam, because I, born in Indonesia, was used to something different!

Mijn vriend en ik houden enorm van Aziatisch eten, en hadden ons dan ook erg verheugd op het eten bij Koco Bistro. Ik denk dat de naam het al zegt, maar gezien het een bistro is en er ook gerechten als spareribs, hamburgers en hachee op de kaart staan (het laatste onder de noemer rendang, maar het was alles behalve rendang), moet je niet verwachten dat je hier authentiek Vietnamees/indisch/thais eten geserveerd krijgt. Er staat overal op de kaart authentiek maar dat was het oprecht niet. We hebben samen drie weken door Indonesië gereisd en ik denk als je het daar zou serveren, de locals je uitlachen. De “saté Ayam” waren gewoon kipstokjes met normale satesaus erover. Zeker geen Indische satesaus. De garnalen in mijn “pad Thai” (wat letterlijk rijstnoedels waren met ketjap manis erover en een paar stukjes tofu) waren volgens mij ook niet goed. Ze smaakten enorm vissig, en alles behalve vers. Ik heb ze dan ook laten liggen. Toch zonde want je moest er wel 7 euro extra voor betalen voor drie garnalen. Al met al een dikke domper, en veel te veel geld voor moeten betalen. Ik zou dit absoluut niet adviseren en snap niet dat deze tent zo hoog kan scoren op Tripadvisor.

Dit restaurant verdient het niet om Op de eerste plek te staan van Valkenburg. Dit is het schoolvoorbeeld van Indonesisch eten op z’n Nederlands. Ik at als voorgerecht de saté Ajman. Lees een kip state. Prima maar dat leek echt niet op een saté ajam. Ook had ik de prawn tempura.. lees een gefrituurde garnaal met chili saus. Als hoofdgerecht had ik de beef rendang. Dit smaakte letterlijk naar gesudderde runnederstoof van mijn oma. Echt hilarisch dat ze dit rendang durven te noemen. Tip > Met een bakje sambal kreeg ik het nog wel weg. Door de naam van het restaurant komen ze er mee weg. Maar mocht je echt lekker Indonesisch willen eten en de authentieke keuken willen ervaren. Ga hier dan niet naar toe!

Koco heeft de vele positieve reviews waargemaakt. Smakelijke en smaakvol opgediende gerechten. Ook door de Engelssprekende bediening voelde je je zowaar een beetje in Azië. Het dessertgebak was niet bijzonder, maar dat moet je eigenlijk ook niet bestellen in een Asian streetfood zaak. Goede decafé. De rekening viel mee. Parkeren kan op het Walramplein (gratis vanaf 20 uur).

Geweldig avondje gehad bij KOCO BISTRO, fantastisch eten vriendelijk bediening en zo lekker gegeten! Een echte aanrader. Dank jullie wel voor een geweldige dinner voor mijn en ons vrienden.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Very tasty food and excellent service. We had not made a reservation, but despite the crowds, a spot was found for us! Food bid very friendly and service very fast. The food was delicious, and although it was a lot, we did our best to scrape the shared Meat platter clean!

We were able to reserve a few hours in advance for 2 people, which was very nice. We had spring rolls and naan bread beforehand, which were delicious. Then the beef rendang, curry and dumplings, nasi rice table with satay for two people. Delicious flavors and excellent food. In the beginning we sat very close to the kitchen/bar at a table that had been hidden away, but that was then neatly resolved by the staff.

Delicious food, you have a wide choice of different Asian cuisines and you can taste that everything is freshly prepared. Very nice service and a great atmosphere! We will definitely come back when we are in Valkenburg again :-)

What a shame about the service! Disappointing. Food, atmosphere looks tasty and fun, service is not trained and grumpy. I waited 45 minutes for the food and when my first drink is finished, I really want a second one on a hot day. We really cherished calling them to serve us. Shame!

You can always wake me up 4 some Indo food. And i definitely didn't get disappointed at all . For a drink took a #Cendol and for a #Starter some great #SateKambing. As a main a lot to choose indonesian vietnames and thaifood but at the end went for some #indonesian #rendang it was amazing Service was also good I kindah like it definitely go back again in the few days I'm over here ☺️

Thanks Claudia Had the Bento Box, the street food platter and a clam and fig and clam salad. All really good food. Just the fig and clam salad was not worth it. Recommend.

Heel vaak worden restaurants waarin meerdere Aziatische keukens samenkomen een soort fusion stamppot. Dit restaurant slaagt erin om authentieke smaken te serveren, of het nu Thais, Indonesisch of Indiaas is. Bijna alles wordt zelfgemaakt, met de juiste verse ingrediënten. En dat proef je al bij binnenkomst, als je kroepoek met de eigengemaakte sambal krijgt - daar zit veel liefde in. Zo’n potje met veel liefde kan je ook kopen en mee naar huis nemen.

Very often, restaurants that bring together several Asian cuisines become a kind of fusion stew. This restaurant manages to serve authentic flavors, be it Thai, Indonesian or Indian. Almost everything is homemade, with the right fresh ingredients. And you can taste that as soon as you enter, when you get prawn crackers with the homemade sambal - there's a lot of love in it. You can also buy such a jar with lots of love and take it home with you.

No wonder that this has the Trip Advisor rating that it has, my wife and I have just eaten here and it was definitely the best meal that we have had in our week in Valkenburg. Service was excellent and food first class. Keep up the good work.

Before the "renovation" (no idea what has been renovated), we had an excellent meal with 4 people from delicious recipes. Today the starters were again surprising, but the main course was very disappointing. Ordered a dish with salmon that I think came straight from the Aldi freezer section. Watery mess. Unfortunately this was the last time. It would be nice to be able to pay €100.

Just had a delicious meal here, spontaneous idea. Friendly service, the food was delicious and delicious to eat with your hands. Nice layout and a nice warm terrace. Immediately bring 2 jars of homemade sambal. The only thing that could possibly change is a little more spicy. (My tastes.). Top tent

A nice spot in the heart of Valkenburg. We received a friendly welcome and were helped promptly. The croquettes & fried avocado in the starter were very tasty and highly recommended, I thought the fried scampi and chicken drumsticks were more filling but certainly not bad either. When our starter was finished, we were asked if we could switch immediately to the main course or if we would rather wait a while. I thought it was great that this was asked! We decided to give up our starter for a while and after a good 10-15 minutes our main courses arrived, which we thought was perfect timing. Our main courses were certainly good. No more and no less. Well-prepared portions & good use of seasoning. We decided to end this pleasant evening after the main course. Prices were good and so were the food and drinks. Very friendly and correct staff.

My wife and I had an absolutely amazing meal here. The food was incredible and authentic. I did not expect to find amazing Thai/Indonesian fusion in Valkanburg Netherlands but we did. The chicken satay is incredible, the short ribs are awesome, the tandoori chicken wings are delicious. Everything was homemade. The owner was cooking, and waiting tables and spent some time speaking with us about his restaurant background and his passion for cooking. As the night went on he turned on karaoke and the remaining dinner guests turned into an after hours karaoke party. Absolutely incredible experience. I sincerely hope I can come back here someday.

Al diverse keren hier voorbij gekomen. Koco Bistro in Valkenburg. Voor ons het favoriete Indonesisch restaurant. Hier weten ze precies hoe het hoort. Het begint al bij binnenkomst. In één woord: super ! Supervriendelijk team wat hier aan het werk is. Ook het eten was perfect, vanaf het voorgerecht enorm genoten van wat er hier geserveerd werd. Eten werd netjes opgediend en was erg smaakvol, wat tegenwoordig helaas ook niet overal het geval is. De soto ayam, de saté, kip cashew, gado gado, cendol, alles maar dan ook echt alles klopte. We verheugen ons nu al op het volgende bezoekje. 👍🏻

Passed by here several times. Koco Bistro in Valkenburg. Our favorite Indonesian restaurant. Here they know exactly how it should be done. It starts upon arrival. In one word: great! Super friendly team working here. The food was also perfect, from the starter I really enjoyed what was served here. Food was neatly served and very tasty, which is unfortunately not the case everywhere these days. The soto ayam, the satay, cashew chicken, cendol, everything was delicious. We are already looking forward to the next visit. 👍🏻

Chose this restaurant based on google reviews when on the road passing through and it didn’t disappoint. Food was good and service was very friendly. The only complaint I have is that every time the doors opens, and that’s very frequently, an ice cold wind blows through the restaurant. I understand, it’s January 18, it’s cold, but at least hang something like a thick curtain ! Thanks

Wat een geweldige ervaring bij Koco Bistro! Vanaf het moment dat we binnenkwamen, voelden we ons meer dan welkom. Het personeel is ontzettend vriendelijk en attent, waardoor je je echt thuis voelt. En dan het eten... wow! Elk gerecht was een smaaksensatie, perfect bereid en prachtig gepresenteerd. Het is duidelijk dat hier met passie en liefde wordt gekookt. Van voorgerecht tot dessert, alles was om van te genieten. We komen hier zeker nog een keer terug. Koco Bistro is absoluut een aanrader voor iedereen die houdt van heerlijk eten en een fijne, gastvrije sfeer. 5 sterren meer dan verdiend!

Wij waren gisteravond voor de eerste keer hier gaan eten en werden bij binnenkomst door de eigenaar heel hartelijk en warm welkom geheten. De gasten krijgen van de eigenaar de nodige aandacht en de bediening is perfect. En de kwaliteit en verscheidenheid aan gerechten was boven verwachting!!! Alles smaakte echt naar meer, maar de porties zijn te groot!!

I had dinner here last Sunday. My experience is that the staff is super friendly and helpful. We didn't have much time because we had to catch the train. The staff then came up with the idea that we could get the meal straight away in a take-away container. The food tasted delicious. The atmosphere was also good. We definitely plan to come back and eat here again.

We were pleasantly surprised to be able to sit down (9 of us) just to have a drink at 4:30 p.m. Indeed, the French that we are are not in the habit of eating so early in the evening... A word of advice: please take care when preparing an Irish Cofee to respect the separation of liquids. A second tip: please serve it with a straw!
