Very tasty food, lots of choice and friendly service!

After reading the very good reviews was a little bit disappointed, l have eaten a lot of Asian food and I'm afraid to say definitely not in the top ten, rendang was very salty, staff were very nice

We ordered a salmon poke bowl and a tofu poke bowl. Really fresh and very tasty without overwhelming or clashing flavours but I thought it was unfair that the salmon version had a very generous portion of tender fish pieces, but the tofu bowl only had four cubes of tofu. I would love to give 5 stars as the dish itself was excellent but the disparity in portion size was obvious. Vegetarians get hungry and would like a proper serve of protein too. That said, I would go back as it was delicious, but I would mention this before ordering the same dish again. Visited in high summer. Sat inside as the outdoor area was full but appreciated the air conditioning and the background music being subtle. Lovely and attentive staff who spoke multiple languages which makes it easy for tourists, appreciated the location not being in the noisy thick of things but still in the Altstadt area.

Our waitress was amazing. She made sure we got exactly what we wanted and was very friendly. The food was also very yummy. They had airco inside which was also welcomed. Great experience.

We walked over to Koco Bistro on a whim yesterday. The menu looked fantastic and we thought, "We have to try this." Luckily, there was still a table available. The menu has many options to choose from. For starters, we had various street food bites to share, and for the main course, we chose the Bento Box, which was also meant to be shared. This is a 7-course surprise menu. It was all delicious, and we were truly surprised. For dessert, we ordered three. The pandan pancakes with coconut and syrup were very tasty, as were the lemongrass crème brûlée and the chocolate lava cake. We were served by two incredibly friendly ladies. Thank you for the lovely evening and the great service. We will be back. 💪🎉

Good food. Unfortunately, the place was understaffed when we dined here, which made the experience less pleasant. It started when Estella shouted at us from the terrace and told us not to enter. After waiting a minute or two, we were finally allowed to take a seat, where we then had to wait another 25 minutes just to order a drink, which took away from the overall experience. The food, however, was worth the wait, and the ambience of the restaurant had some nice Indonesian vibes. Also the drinks where authentic and I cAn recommend this place for anyone who enjoys Asian food. The odd thing was the display of "Limburgse vlaaien." I'm not sure why anyone would order those at an Indonesian-themed restaurant.

We visited on 17 July for dinner as a group of eight (two families), and everything was well managed. The service was organised —our waitress was welcoming, warm, and attentive throughout the evening. The food presentation, quality, and menu variety is appealing for Asian food lovers. We also loved the ambience: a mid‑sized, beautifully maintained restaurant right in the heart of the shopping street. A perfect spot for a relaxed yet refined dining experience. Highly recommended!

Loved this little gem in Valkenburg. The Thai red fish curry and their homemade sambal are delicious! Also tried their coconut amd noodle drink, was so refreshing in the heat. They also had airco inside, but we sat outside to soak in the vibe. A pity we couldn't reserve as they only accept walkins, but we always got a seat. So it wasn't a problem in the end. I wish I had bought a jar of their sambal now.

What incredibly delicious food! Fresh calamari rings as a starter and the Bento box. Super friendly service! This was our third time visiting the restaurant. Now during happy hour... between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM, various drinks were extra cheap. I wasn't paying close attention myself and ordered Chardonnay instead of the house Pinot Grigio. Afterwards, it turned out to be €8.00 per glass. In my opinion, this is really asking too much. If you want to charge this much, it should be served in a nicer glass... the high price is completely out of proportion to the tasty dishes and the happy hour prices.

I felt like I was completely in Indonesia! What delicious food! The rendang is so good; I haven't eaten better anywhere in the world. The other dishes with the Nasi Campur, including the cucumber ketioen, the sajour lodeh, and the satay, were also very tasty! In short, highly recommended and definitely worth returning to.

We had a delicious meal tonight at Koco Bistro in Valkenburg. We had the Bento Box, and it was incredibly tasty, varied, and so generous that we couldn't finish it all. The restaurant had initially placed the leftover dishes neatly in a large bowl, with the different components still separated. Because we wanted to take the food home in our cooler, we asked if it could be packed into smaller containers. This was done kindly, but as a result, the different dishes ended up being a bit mixed together. This is certainly not a complaint, but perhaps it would be a good idea to pack the different components of a Bento Box separately as much as possible when taking it away. After all, the flavors were all delicious. Friendly service, cozy atmosphere, and delicious food. We enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back!

We asked for a table outside but were denied, even though there was plenty space available (because they did not want to split up a 4 seater). And shortly after we sat inside, the outside table was split up for another customer. Sad and ruined my mood!

The food is certainly good. Some dishes are delicious, but some are less so. However, the service was poor in our case. Because we wanted to sit inside, we went in, but we were disrespectfully directed back outside where we had to wait. It felt very inhospitable. I got the impression that they treat customers like cattle. There were some larger tables inside, but we were not allowed to sit there. We were given a tiny table on the (noisy) terrace, while those tables inside remained empty all evening. The round dish from the rijsttafel barely fit on the small table, meaning you had to eat from plates on the corner of the table. Unbelievable. The glasses were not properly clean either. Everything seems geared towards profit maximization. But we will most likely not be coming back.

Fantastic place and very friendly service. Where do you still find something like that these days? We chose the Bento Box (2 people) with all kinds of different dishes. Amazed by the true taste sensation. It was our second time and we will definitely come back again.

We ate Pad Thai and a Rijsttafel with chicken and noodles here. Both dishes were very tasty, top-notch Asian street food. The portions are generous, and you can simply take the leftovers home. Inside, it is small and cozily decorated with beautiful details.

We had a delicious meal here tonight. We had the Vietnamese spring rolls as a starter, and for the main course, we chose a Mixed Rice Table (meat/vegetarian) and a Chicken Rice Table. We shared some dishes; the flavors were delicious, and the food here is cooked with love. The service was friendly as well—what more could you ask for? Highly recommended!

In November, I went out for dinner with my girlfriend at Koco Bistro. We were received very hospitably. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and served nice and hot. The service was also excellent: neat, polite, and everything was taken care of down to the last detail. Highly recommended if you want to eat well and enjoyably. The owner knows exactly how to serve his customers. Truly top-notch. We will definitely be back.

Nice bistro in the center of Valkenburg with a predominantly Asian cuisine. We took a seat on the well-maintained terrace with nice heaters to ward off the cold. As a starter, we had the mixed street food platter, which, as the name suggests, was a mix of delicious Asian snacks! For the main course, we had the mixed meat platter, which consisted of steak, spare ribs, and various types of grilled satay. We found everything very tasty, and it was beautifully presented. We had a delicious Indonesian cendol drink to go with it! The service was handled by an English-speaking lady. She was friendly and courteous. The bill, including two glasses of wine and an ice cream dessert, came to about 95 euros, which I considered a fair price for what was offered! We will definitely come back again when we are in Valkenburg!

We had a delicious, authentic Indonesian rijsttafel. We come all the way from Amsterdam to eat there at least once a year.

We encountered a very unpleasant female waitress this afternoon. She seemed to be from the Eastern Bloc. The entire terrace was empty and we politely asked if we could sit next to each other. That was not allowed. She was very unpleasant and dominant. We left.

We were visiting during the holiday season and the staff was friendly but completely out of order to a table. A couple arrived and took a table before the start of their holiday parade. They both ordered drinks, but when a server came to collect their food order only the man wanted food. The server yelled loudly, 'you must order food. you weren't told that, you should've been told. you have to order food' The woman was clearly embarassed as she hadn't been told, and no one had told US as a table when we sat down. A different server came after a couple of minutes and took their orders, the woman tried to order a side dish of rice. This time, the server told her that wasn't enough, she had to order a 1st course. The woman asked why the rules about what they could order were being changed each time they came to the table and the server explained that a group had been in several weeks prior and had ordered coffee and desserts so the whole staff got in trouble. I frankly don't see the problem, they were guests ordering items on an otherwise empty table. The woman then asked what was considered a 1st course, because even though she wasn't hungry, she understands they have made up rules. The manner in which they treated this woman was awful. First, they were ordering items. They had both ordered drinks when all of a sudden ordering food was required. Then it was required to order a 1st course. On and on. I was in complete shock seeing this. Our table was never advised of any of this so the reason that they were so cruel is unclear. Truthfully, we haven't been back since and I don't image we will return. To respond to the owner's reponse. Perhaps you didn't read the full review. 'Nevertheless, it turned out that the guests in question had only ordered two drinks and indicated that they did not wish to order dinner.' It was a couple that had Both ordered drinks. The man ordered his food and then woman the said she didn't want food, at which point the server raised their voice and 'communicated' food was mandatory. Only then were they told they had to order food. 'As explicitly stated, ordering and sharing only a side dish is not considered ordering dinner and therefore does not meet the stated requirements.' Again, our table was not told we had to order food when we arrived. So, it was not 'clearly communicated in advance' to at least two tables. Our table was right next to them, I know what I saw and heard. I understand if you have established guidelines, the issue is the manner in which the situation was handled, and continues to be handled.

The food was very good, the service was good, but unfortunately, there was only one seat available on the covered terrace. Because of the curtained door, it was very, very cold there. On the other side, a gas fireplace was grilling right next to our table. Unfortunately, there was no space inside. The restaurant doesn't take reservations but turns away guests without them. Strange.

We were 4 adults went here for dinner. We ordered the Fried noodle, fried rice, nasi campur and nasi ayam. The food presentation was great but the taste was mediocre. For the price we paid - between 18-25 per portion, I felt it was not worth it. The food was very sweet and so basic. Like the chicken wings and karagee in my plate tasted like something I could get frozen and cooked in airfryer.. 😂 however, the people were really nice and friendly.. :)

We stumbled upon this place by chance, craving Asian food. We were very pleased: good, efficient service, an enthusiastic hostess, and excellent food.

One day after visiting the cave, my family and I were walking down the street. The kids wanted to use the restroom, so we decided to politely ask the waitress at the cafe. Unfortunately, the reaction was abrupt and unfriendly: we were immediately told that the restroom was **for customers only**. I understand that - a rule is a rule. But then it got weird. When my husband explained that we just **wanted to come in, order coffee with dessert, and the kids hot chocolate**, we were told something like: *“You can come in only if you order food”* - and simply waved it away. At the same time, there were many guests in the hall who were calmly sitting with a glass of wine or a cup of coffee and enjoying the atmosphere. So the logical question arises: **what's the difference?** We also wanted to sit down, order drinks and desserts, and spend time in your establishment. If a cafe has special rules - for example, a minimum check or a mandatory order of a full meal - **it should be honestly written at the entrance**. Then people will immediately understand whether this format suits them. Because now it seems as if the rules depend not on the institution's policy, but on the mood of the staff. It's a pity, because it is the atmosphere and respect for guests that form the desire to return. In our case, the desire, unfortunately, did not appear.

Last December 6th, I asked if we could use the restroom. We were immediately snapped at in English with: "No, you're not allowed to do that." Not even when I asked if we could have something to eat and drink. It's not possible to eat and drink in order to use the restroom. I had to restrain myself because I was with my wife and children. It's a shame the employee's response wasn't accurate.

We happened to walk past here and decided to have something to eat. We received a very enthusiastic and friendly welcome and were shown to a table. We sat in the conservatory because it was closed and the heaters were on, making it a lovely temperature (we were there in December). We received excellent service from the hostess, who was enthusiastic and friendly; she also makes delicious cocktails. We also had the surprise shared platter, which was a delightful surprise, followed by a delicious dessert. All in all, definitely recommended.

The spontaneous visit to the restaurant turned out to be a thoroughly successful evening.

A truly fantastic restaurant! After some disappointments at other establishments, they were immediately open to our needs. We really wanted to make a reservation, but unfortunately, that wasn't possible—the friendly staff explained that this often causes hassle. Despite this, they noticed how much we enjoyed our visit and visibly appreciated it. We had quite a few questions and comments, but the staff were incredibly kind to us. They were open to everything and really went above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant evening. It was a bit chilly on the terrace, so we recommended wearing something warmer, but they were even happy to help: we got extra blankets and they closed more shutters to make it more comfortable. The food was delicious and definitely worth a try! Don't forget the cocktails and the homemade iced tea—truly fantastic! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and are extremely grateful for the effort and hospitality. Highly recommended!

There’s something for everyone! One tip though is not to rely on the specials on the website, was a bit disappointed when I couldn’t find what I wanted on the actual menu haha (or maybe update this? 😀) .Nevertheless, the vibe made it all worth it. We loved our waitress!!!

We came here to eat because of all the good reviews. And we didn't regret it for a moment. Super friendly service, cozy decor, extensive menu, delicious dishes, and the cocktail was sublime. We had the curry croquettes as an appetizer and then the surprise box with seven different dishes. All highly recommended. Unfortunately, we couldn't finish everything.

We ate here for the first time because we were craving Asian food. Reservations aren't accepted on Fridays and Saturdays, but there was plenty of room this time, though it quickly filled up later. The service was quick and friendly, and the menu is extensive enough with plenty of tasty sharing options. We had gyoza, karage, and the salmon teriyaki. The portions were generous, everything tasted great, and it was beautifully presented. This is definitely recommended, and we'd love to come back again next time.

We had a delicious meal from a meat platter for two. It looked delicious and was definitely not expensive. Chicken, lamb, steak, or spare ribs. It was perfect. More than enough for the two of us.

High scores BUT very mediocre food. I find the price-quality ratio severely lacking. Cashew chicken with 6 cashews. A LOT of soy sauce, so very salty. The noodles are mostly thick noodles without any noodles. The salad is a pile of lettuce and carrots with one slice of tomato on a serving plate with paper underneath. I ordered extra prawn crackers and never received them. Incomprehensible tourist information and TripAdvisor recommendations, as far as I'm concerned. Friendly service. They can't help it either that the chef (apparently) produces street food = nothing particularly tasty!

Disappointed, the reviews promised so much more. Food appeared to be pre-prepared and warmed up to serve. Green curry was nigh on inedible. Starters were adequate, nothing special. The Philippine Pork was fairly good. Coconut rice was a travesty, why not just call it what it is, slightly stodgy white rice. Also if you are only going to fill the Ginger tea glass halfway be prepared to refill it with hot water when asked, the meal cost 149 euros, providing a glass of hot water is not going to bankrupt you!

The food was truly amazing. We were very surprised. It was delicious. We just found the service really annoying. They were standing three meters away, chatting at length about personal matters. Literally intelligible. Way too loud. They were trying really hard to be friendly, and they were. They completely forgot to take pictures. How stupid. The food was truly fantastic.

I found the small tables and tiered stands on which the food is served less practical; they look nice, but are actually too small and impractical if you order a lot and want to share. This is by far the worst Indonesian food and drink I ever had in Netherlands, also in my life. Don't get me wrong, I'm an Indonesian woman who live in Netherlands for 8 years and already went to many Indonesian and Asian restaurants. I went to this bistro 3 years ago, and the food and drink was delicious, including the sambal. I even bought 2 jars of the sambal to take home. It was that delicious. So that's why when we have our vacation again in Valkenburg, I was very excited to go to this bistro. Who knew that my expectations to have a delicious dinner was entirely crushed the moment I got my drink. I don't know if it's because I chose the wrong food and drink. I chose es cendol (my must have drink in any Indonesian bistro/restaurant) and mie goreng tek-tek. The es cendol tastes so weird, far from the taste of es cendol that I know (both in NL and Indonesia). It's so weird that I can only take a few sips from its 0.5 l portion. I chose Mie Tek-tek because it's claimed as one of the authentic food. So i have a high expectation to taste a real Indonesian mie goreng. And boy, how i was wrong. The mie/noodles is very hard, it's even harder than al dente spaghetti. It's taste is dominated by sesame oil (which we don't use in our authentic goreng), very sweet and salty and other weird taste that I couldn't even explain. Finally I can only eat the topping: chicken crispy. It was good. Unfortunately I can only eat two forks of the mie goreng. So no more Koco Bistro for me, helaas.

I'm 54, Belgian, and unfortunately, I didn't grow up with Indonesian cuisine, but I do love it. That's why I often drive across the border to experience Indonesian cuisine. I can honestly say that Koco Bistro is the absolute best I've ever tasted. Honest, rich, and phenomenally flavorful dishes that demonstrate authentic craftsmanship. Where cooking becomes art! You can taste the passion, love, and time the chefs put into these dishes in every bite. Exceptionally friendly service. Exceptionally good prices. A wonderful menu. ABSOLUTELY recommended!! Fantastic little gem in Valkenburg offering delicious Indo/Asian food dishes. Just off the beaten path, which made it perfect for us as we prefer a quieter atmosphere. I had the Sate Babi and hubby had the Sate Ayam, both delicious, with generous portions. Staff was wonderful and attentive. Highly recommend when visiting Valkenburg.
