What an entrance. From the forest, I walked practically to the beginning of the enormous driveway leading to the castle. Look closely at the gnome doors. They are there, but unfortunately, no one was home that day. I sat comfortably at the coach house for a delicious snack. Generous portions, and your dog is welcome outside on the terrace. You can also rent a cottage at the castle...on the grounds. I never knew that was possible. I will definitely be coming back here more often.

On a sweltering day, we arrived at the Koetshuis after a walk. We felt like having a drink and a sandwich in the garden behind the Koetshuis. The first disappointment was that the garden was inaccessible because there were too few customers. So we sat down on the terrace in front of the Koetshuis, where everything is tiled and the heat radiated at you from all sides. We ordered a sandwich. Fortunately, this was still possible because the kitchen closed at 4:00 PM and it was still before 4:00 PM (according to the website, closing time is 5:00 PM). A few minutes later, the waitress came to inform us that the kitchen had already been cleared and was therefore closed; that was the chefs' decision. A second disappointment and a sign of a lack of professionalism.

Beautiful, quiet location for hospitality businesses

Always friendly hostesses! A lovely place to sit too! It’s a shame the quality is declining rapidly… The pastries we used to come back for specifically are no longer handmade (and frozen?) Today’s tomato soup was truly tasteless and the accompanying focaccia was bone dry. The salads promised on the menu aren't on it anymore either From now on, we’ll be skipping walking followed by lunch or coffee and cake at Slangenburg…

The high tea at the Koetshuis (Coach House) at Slangenburg Castle was delicious! We started with a delicious cup of soup. Then we were treated to a platter of various savory snacks, including salmon wraps, ham flatbread, and cheese and carpaccio sandwiches. Finally, we were treated to a platter of sweet treats, such as macarons, mousse, and pastries. Everything was fresh and carefully prepared. The peaceful, historic setting and the friendly service made it a perfect afternoon.

The most delicious cheesecake ever

A wonderfully warm welcome. We arrived quite drenched with two dogs with muddy paws. We thought we'd sit outside under the umbrella because of the rain, but were warmly invited inside with the dogs. The food was delicious: (plain, fresh) brown bread with beef croquettes and a cream cheese sandwich without too much fuss. This is the only location along the Pieterpad route we've visited twice. The next time, we started with coffee and a delicious cheesecake/hazelnut tart. Again, very friendly service.

Pleasant food with pleasant service. The view on a sunny day is really nice. I had a simple lunch (flatbread with goats cheese and cranberries), it tasted good. Prefect spot for simple food with a view (on a sunny day).

We had reserved a high tea for more than 20 people. The communication in advance was very pleasant. Dietary requirements were also very well taken into account. On the day itself everything was very well organised: the service was good and the food was delicious. It was a busy day and we didn't notice anything, compliments to the entire team! We will definitely come back again.

Walking on Slangenburg? Then a cup of coffee or tea at the Koetshuis is a great place to rest. Many hikers think so. It is difficult to find a seat. There is a good chance that you will have to keep walking. Shame!

A nice and neat place to settle down for a walk with my son. Friendly and hospitable. The lemonade was very tasty. The castle doesn't open for another two weeks, so we have to go back again. .

Coffee and pastries were fine. Cappuccino, on the other hand, was disappointing. You get a large mug but there is less than half in it, which was also lukewarm and the foam layer was missing. A miss!

We came with the e-bikes from Emmerich. The castle is very beautiful. Unfortunately the associated restaurant was closed even though it said it was open on the internet.

Verder lezen is geen straf. Helaas is het gehele complex failliet en gesloten. Heerlijk om hier even van een versnapering te genieten na een lange (of korte) wandeling. Je even wanen als de graaf en gravin. Wel een flinke fooi geven natuurlijk aan het uiterst vriendelijke en zeer behulpzame personeel.

Lekker in de zon op het terras gezeten, met uitzicht op het kasteel. Heerlijke plek voor even een stukje rust na een fietstocht, of wandeling. Of gewoon als doel voor een uitje. De bediening is correct en vriendelijk. Toplocatie!!

Helaas brouwt de nabijgelegen abdij geen bier. Maar wel een lokaal blond biertje uit de fles.

Leuke plek aan de binnenplaats van het ‘kasteel’. We hebben we niets gebruikt, alleen dankbaar gebruik gemaakt van de mooie toiletten. We vinden het er binnen en buiten gezellig uit zien.

Leuke, aardige bediening, ik werd van eerder bezoek herkend. Lekkere koffie met lekkers erbij, wat snel na bestelt te hebben al gebracht werd.

Schönes uriges Wasserschloss in ruhiger Lage. Leckeren Kaffe u Kuchen nach langen Spaziergängen. Nicht weit von deutscher Grenze. Nahegelegener Ort Doetinchem lädt zum bummeln ein. Nicht so überlaufen wie Venlo o Roermond. Auf jeden Fall eine Reise wert.

Zeer aangenaam verpozen na een mooie wandeling. Buiten kun je bij mooi weer lekker in het zonnetje zitten. Attente bediening. Het is geen probleem om je hond(je) mee naar binnen te nemen bij slecht weer.

Nooit gegeten maar zit er vaak even op het terras na een wandeling of fietstochtje. Altijd gezellig en sfeervol! Fantastische omgeving.

Prachtig gelegen. Heerlijk wandelgebied. Horeca is ruim opgezet en goede koffie met bonbon erbij. Leuk prijspeil. Aanrader. Maar geef géén complimenten. Dat vinden ze niets. De kok kwam aanlopen met heel mooi en apart gemaakt gebak, met marsepein gevouwen er om heen, om in de koelvitrine te zetten. Was echt mooi gemaakt. Ik vraag aan hem en geef hem een compliment: "Wat heeft u daar voor lekkers gemaakt, meneer?". Hij zegt: "van alles". En loopt zonder iets te zeggen gewoon weg...😀. Dus taart werd het niet haha. Koffie was top.

Fantastisch daar waar ik vroeger tussen de oude troep gespeelt heb kun je nu gemoedelijk vertoeven...

Locatie was mooi, tafeltje op een oprit van grind is wat ongemakkelijk maar het eten was goed, zeker na een lange wandeling in de buurt.

Mooi gelegen restaurant maar management laat zich verrassen door plotselinge drukte waardoor het personeel het niet meer aan kan

Mooi restaurant. Duur. Personeel kan de grote toeloop niet aan. Lang wachten op een bestelling.

Door drukte werden er geen bestellingen meer aangenomen en werd de keuken vervroegd gesloten. Gelukkig scheen de zon en mochten we wel zitten. Pas na drie kwartier werd de tafel leeg geruimd en mochten we eindelijk een drankje bestellen (welke dan wel binnen een paar minuten geserveerd werd)
