KRUL Restaurant & Bar in Wijk 03 Aalten Kern

I was pleasantly surprised this time. Sometimes they have things that aren't on the regular menu but are offered; this time it was a bavette. It was delicious and really well prepared. So tender you could practically suck it down a rabbit hole, so to speak. I'm quite picky about food, but this was truly fantastic! And the staff kept a close eye on everything and were very friendly. A big thumbs up for the kitchen and the staff! The food is delicious, and the dishes look beautiful. I definitely recommend trying it!

I highly recommend this restaurant! Good food and a pleasant atmosphere. We're spending a few days in Aalten with our family during our Christmas holidays, and we chose this restaurant. We also checked if there were enough options for vegetarians, and they were excellent. We ordered some extra vegetables and salad alongside our main courses. Oh yes, the decor is lovely, the service is very friendly, and there's no cheesy Christmas atmosphere 😉

Krul is a great place to sit. The atmosphere is pleasant. The fish wasn't good, and we politely pointed this out. Unfortunately, there was little to no response.

We had a delicious lunch; we ordered a midday snack. Delicious, thickly sliced ​​dark brown bread with a croquette, a ham and cheese fried egg, and a small soup. The tomato soup was unfortunately lukewarm, but this was immediately resolved upon request by the very friendly staff. Cozy atmosphere and decor, definitely recommended!

The food is delicious, but the menu has been the same for years. The only variation is the soup and sandwich of the day. In that respect, lunch is boring and offers little in the way of surprises, but unfortunately, the selection in Aalten during the week is quite limited.

After having a delicious lunch earlier in the week, we decided to have dinner at Krul as well. It was delicious from start to finish! The atmosphere is warm, the service friendly, and the food delicious!

Nicely decorated restaurant. The steak cubes with teriyaki sauce were way too salty. The staff kept asking if we'd like another drink. Friendly, though.

We had coffee and delicious apple pie here in the morning. And because the service was so friendly, we immediately made a reservation for dinner. That was a good choice too: delicious pumpkin soup, a tasty black halibut fillet, and a superb, beautifully presented cheesecake. So we ate here the second night as well. We give the restaurant a thumbs-up, and kind regards from the teacher 🙃

My girlfriend and I had a lovely lunch. The atmosphere was great, and so was the service. It was busy, but you couldn't tell from the service...it's simply fantastic.

There was a good restaurant with good food. We had two waiters who helped us. One of them seemed unwilling to work. That was a minor blemish on what was otherwise a successful evening.

Together with a neighbor we enjoyed delicious food, hospitality and friendly staff.

A great spot for lunch, the food was delicious. They have a small kitchen, but what they served was delicious. The food inside was delicious too.

First time eating here. Simple conclusion: we'll definitely be back. Cozy, welcoming, attentive staff, and delicious food. The terrace and interior were pleasantly crowded. Apparently, we weren't the only ones who thought so.

We came to celebrate my mother's 84th birthday, and we'd had good experiences with this restaurant before. This time, the hospitality at Restaurant Krul was truly subpar. Despite having a reservation, we were placed at a table with an unhygienic and unappetizingly large hole in the wall. The unrealistic alternative was to sit five people at a small table. The rump steak was well-done instead of medium rare, and it took 30 minutes for a new one to be made. There you are, waiting while others are eating. One failed meal can and may happen, but try to engage your guests, not ignore them. Tip: bring empty glasses when you bring new ones. Don't let guests order at the bar after a long wait. The team at Restaurant Krul needs to learn that it's all about the overall restaurant experience. In short, it's a shame.

We had a delicious meal and drank the homemade iced tea. There was the occasional annoying wasp, but that was resolved with a little table manners.

They used to have a fantastic steak with black garlic sauce, but unfortunately, it's been replaced by a lower-quality steak with garlic gravy. The delicious crispy fries have also been replaced by cheap regular fries. It's a shame to lower the quality with a new menu, because that's precisely what we came for.

A cozy setting in the center of Aalten. The menu isn't extensive, but additional dishes are also offered at the table. They offer meat, fish, and vegetarian options. Fresh and tender. A pleasant atmosphere with friendly staff. Highly recommended for a delicious and cozy meal in the Achterhoek region!

I had a delicious brook trout, very tasty. Everything else was fine. One downside regarding the cocktail... a pornstar martini with a dried-out piece of passion fruit and without a small glass of cava/prosecco... that's not a pornstar martini. Seems like a pretty easy fix, right?

Unfortunately, we had two bad experiences in a row. We also reported this via email, but received no response. No more Krul for us for a while. Lunch with steak cubes on a sandwich; very tough! Otherwise, it was tasty. Dinner: steak. The meat was so tough it was impossible to chew. Part of it ended up in a napkin, and the rest went uneaten. It's a real shame for such an expensive piece of meat. We reported it to the staff. We received a free drink. The rest of the food is also rather meager. Only fries. No raw vegetable salad or warm vegetables with the main course; these could all be ordered separately. That makes a main course with side dishes quite pricey! There were only three desserts on the menu. But we were done with Krul. We paid and left feeling bad.

You can sit on the terrace here, it's lovely and busy and cozy. We had a wonderful lunch here.

After asking the young man twice for the menu, I picked it up myself. The waitresses were friendly. Two cone-shaped bags of fries for the three of us—it's not even a meal!!! The chicken thigh skewers tasted good, but I left the terrace €87 poorer and still hungry.

Voor de lunch neergestreken op het ruime terras van Restaurant & Bar Krul in Aalten. Gelegen in het historische centrum van dit Gelderse stadje, op de Markt, met leuk uitzicht op enkele mooie oude panden en vooral de schitterende, zeer oude kerk. Uitgebreide lunchkaart. Redelijke prijzen. Vriendelijke bediening. Naast drankjes besteld een "aangekleed" broodje hamburger en brood met kaaskroketten. Alles komt goed verzorgd op tafel en smaakt ons best. Prettige zaak, ook binnen veel ruimte en heel aardig ingericht.

Had a delicious Krulburger. The service was good and attentive. It's a shame I don't live nearby, otherwise I would definitely come here more often.

Good food, not over the top, but definitely worth returning. Super-friendly, flexible, and understanding service. Beautifully decorated restaurant, with a lovely large and spacious terrace. Restrooms are easily accessible (ground floor) and clean.

The food was delicious...one star less, though. The special; bavette, which I ultimately chose...nothing wrong with, but there was no price listed on the written notice. I saw it on the receipt afterward and was shocked. Second point: no raw vegetables (except for two tiny corn cobs and a bit of pumpkin puree), salad, and a normal portion of vegetables with the main course. All of this had to be ordered separately at €3.50 per portion. (!) That makes a main course with side dishes quite pricey. Other than that, the atmosphere and experience were excellent, the service was friendly, and the wasps on the terrace were annoying ;-)

Everything is great, 1 small downside, smoking is allowed on the terrace Not tasty for those who are eating next to it and not desirable for people with lung problems. It's not much trouble to smoke next to the terrace

The atmosphere and ambiance on the terrace of Krul was very nice. And the food very tasty. But what was really the best was the service of waiter Bas; very spontaneous and passionate and with attention and an eye for everything that can be desired on a terrace. Really a pleasure to experience hospitality in this high standard. Thanks for a great evening! We will definitely come back again!

Had a lovely dinner. Despite the fact that it was busy, the food arrived on time. The food was excellent, we felt like we were being pampered. It was a new menu with something for everyone. We were regularly asked if everything was to our liking. All in all, we had a lovely evening and went home satisfied.

Once again we had an excellent meal and drinks and the service was very attentive and cheerful.

The dishes are prepared with care, beautifully presented and full of flavor. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the service is smooth without feeling rushed. The decor is modern but cozy, which contributes to the pleasant atmosphere. KRUL is also an excellent choice for drinks, with a nice selection of wines, cocktails and beers. In short, an absolute must for those looking for a tasteful and relaxing evening out in Aalten!

Enjoy a casual meal out We had a wonderful meal at Krul again! This time with a child, who enjoyed the parsnip-apple soup and a sandwich in the high chair. And we like the fish, the recommended duck breast, the lamb fillet and the steak, ending with coffee. Nice sweet service, good atmosphere. There are toys available for the kids.

Wat hebben we weer heerlijk gegeten bij Krul! Deze keer met kindje erbij, die in de kinderstoel heeft genoten van de pastinaak-appel soep en een broodje. De vis was heerlijk, de eendenborst aan te bevelen evenals de lamfilet en de biefstuk met als afsluiting het koffiemoment. Aardige bediening, goede sfeer. Voor de kids zijn er speelgoedjes aanwezig.

De ambiance straalt warmte en gezelligheid uit. De serveersters erg klantvriendelijk en mocht je iets te pittig vinden(dat gaf de serveerster aan, dat het wat pittig kan zijn) kun je het aangeven dat je niet van pittig houd, dan houden ze daar rekening mee. Goede wijn en vooral het eten, nu een hamburger, was zoooo heerlijk!! Al met al wel 5 ⭐️waard voor ons!

Nice restaurant to sit! Food is quite pricey for the quantity... Lunch is really good in terms of quantity and price-quality ratio. And not to forget, very tasty! Just having a drink at Krul is also nice all year round! The staff is actually always friendly and helpful. Wonderful restaurant!
