My colleagues and I enjoyed the delicious sandwiches again, which were also delivered right on time!

Best iced latte I had, perfectly foamy. And the sweets that I tried were amazing. The staff is super nice and friendly.

Today I finally visited Kwekkeboom, as I had been looking forward to it for a long time. But what a disappointment this turned out to be! We arrived at 4:15 PM for pastries and a drink. We had barely sat down when one of the ladies came to tell us that they were taking our last round and asked if we wanted to order anything else. We hadn't even touched our pastries and tea yet. At 4:20 PM, another employee came to ask us if we wanted to use the toilet, as she was going to clean it and use would no longer be possible afterwards. Before 4:30 PM, yet another employee started placing all the chairs on the tables and mopping the floor while we and three other customers were still eating. We were really being stared at, even though the place is open until 5:00 PM. Another 5 minutes later, a father wanted to take his little daughter (about 4 years old?) to the toilet. Unfortunately, we were able to enjoy the lecture the little girl received about not being allowed to use the one toilet because it was already clean. The pastry is tasty, but the staff made it clear that we needed to leave as soon as possible. This makes the experience so unpleasant that it ruins the taste. This was the first and last time for me. I would rather get a tompoes at Hema to enjoy comfortably on the couch at home. It is a real shame, but if I had read the reviews earlier, I would have been prepared for the unpleasant staff.

Kwekkeboom used to be an excellent bakery. For years, I bought pastries and sausage rolls there every Saturday, and to me, they were among the best you could get. Unfortunately, the quality has deteriorated significantly these days. The pastries have become very greasy and barely have any flavor left. The whipped cream, too, tastes mainly of fat and lacks the creamy, rich flavor you would expect from quality pastries. The sausage rolls are now made with Black Angus beef, but honestly, they might as well have been described as crispy paper filled with tasteless cardboard. Whereas they used to be full of flavor, they are now dry, bland, and a huge disappointment. Furthermore, I now find the prices far too high for what you get. It is a shame to see how Kwekkeboom, where I enjoyed going for years, has declined so much. After being a loyal customer for many years, I have decided not to return here anymore. A huge disappointment.

I arrived at Kwekkeboom on April 22 at 16:50. I couldn't order a drink anymore, even though they close at 17:45... (they probably want to go home quickly)

I went to Kwekkeboom to pick up desserts and pointed out what I wanted to order. Next, the employee asked how many pieces I wanted in total. I indicated that I didn't know yet and wanted to think about it briefly. Her response was: "Just call me when you know," after which she simply walked away. Fortunately, an older employee heard this and helped me immediately. This was not the first time I witnessed unfriendly behavior from the same employee. On a previous occasion, she also failed to assist another customer properly. As far as I am concerned, customer friendliness and staff guidance really need to be looked into more closely, because this creates a very bad impression.

On April 4th, we were at the Oostpoort and wanted to have a cup of coffee with a sausage roll at Kwekkeboom. Upon arrival, we immediately found a table and waited for the waiter who was walking around. After 10 minutes, still no one to take our order. We walked over to the waiter, who said he would come by soon. After taking our order, everyone who came after us was served properly, while we still hadn't received anything after half an hour. When I spoke to the waiter about this, he had forgotten about us and was indignant that we didn't want to be served any further, so we left the establishment. Very poor service and waitstaff. Never again. What is the Kwekkeboom like before?

I come here regularly because I live nearby, but I've noticed that the quality has really declined and prices have gone up significantly. I'm not crazy about the pastries and cakes; they are also usually frozen or have been. I just bought a bone-dry chocolate cake. This is going straight into the trash, and this was the last time at Kwekkeboom for me.

My number one place for whipped cream pastries. I haven't tried the others yet, but I will. Very nice place...it makes me very happy. It's a shame there isn't a branch in North Brabant, though.

A classic! I'd go there just for the apple pie. The staff is also super friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back.

I ordered a beautiful strawberry cake and a few other cakes for a special birthday. Part of the order was initially delayed, and when it finally arrived, it turned out the bakery had forgotten the strawberry cake. So I had to rush off and find something else.

Everything is so old-fashioned delicious. Sweet and savory. Excellent.

We grew up with Kwekkeboom's sausage rolls, and it felt like a great loss when the iconic location on Reguliersbreestraat closed. Fortunately, you can still find the most delicious pastries and sausage rolls here in East.

A beautiful artisan bakery with excellent products and ditto service. I've been coming to Kwekkeboom for years, and they never disappoint. Now, they're a real asset to the shopping center in Oostpoort. The artisanal products are top-quality. I'd almost say: "Once you go Kwekkeboom, you never go back."

We bought a Christmas loaf, and those clever people didn't even put almond paste in it. What idiots, scammers. I'm extremely dissatisfied with this service. I find it abnormal that you just sell this to people. It's not normal, those idiots. Come on, pay attention, that's what you're paid for. Thank you for this ruined Christmas. My Christmas breakfast was completely ruined by you. Thank you. Update: You ruined something that only happens once a year. I'm very disappointed, and so is my whole family. I find it unacceptable because these things aren't cheap, and when you spend that much money, you expect something. It's not like I can fix it now and then think my review isn't normal. That service is unacceptable.

Delicious pastries and friendly staff. Update: Unfortunately, our second visit was a completely different experience. The staff was very unfriendly. The waitress made it clear that she would rather be anywhere else than here. An older lady placed a ‘reserved’ sign on our table without saying anything just as we had finished eating, and subsequently came to clean the same table multiple times, a clear signal that we were no longer welcome. It is a shame, because our first experience was actually positive.

Today I got some tasty sausage rolls, a croquette sandwich, and a small cake. However, when I asked if I could eat it here after paying, I received an indignant answer. NO, that is not possible because those are different rates. That really hit me strangely... what a lousy place with answers like that.

Today, Thursday, October 9, 2025, about 7 minutes before 9:00 AM, I walked in to buy two sausage rolls, and immediately an employee, the "old" woman, started shouting in a nasty way that they open at 9:00 AM, and I was already standing at the checkout and the sausage rolls were already warm. It was very unpleasant to be treated so meanly to a customer. It seems there is always something wrong with this place; first the hygiene, where employees just touch everything with their hands, and now another nasty woman of around 60 working there. This is the last time for me; I will go to the other competition. It has become a rotten shop since they moved to the square in the Oostpoort. I hope people read this and are warned. Too disgusting for words, yuck!

What a shame about this experience. I was looking forward to a visit to Kwekkeboom, but was really disappointed by the staff. There was absolutely no friendliness. In a store where service is so important, you expect at least a bit of customer friendliness. It really drags down the whole experience, which is a pity. No second time for me. What a waste, I hope this is addressed and that things change!!

We were excited! We went there for breakfast, the cakes are very, very delicious and not expensive! They also have oatmilk for cappuccino and a very clean toilet. The staff is very nice and can speak english very well. I wish I could have eaten more of their cakes!

Yesterday my husband got a tompouce and two other pastries. I have to say, it wasn't tasty; the strawberry shell had a hard crust. It's a shame, that's not how it's supposed to be.

I grew up with Kwekkeboom pastries and have certainly been coming here for years (at the old location), always very satisfied. However, I notice that lately I am only getting dry carrot cake that is perhaps 1-2 days old. I chose a different pastry than carrot cake this time to avoid disappointment again, but there was still a hair in my pastry from yesterday... it wasn't tasty anymore after that, what a bummer...

An incredibly friendly gentleman with a cool earring helped us. He was super sweet to our kids, we came with a large group and will definitely be back because of his great service, delicious food, and beautiful restaurant. Highly recommended, also for families with kids.

Until now, I've been a loyal and satisfied customer, especially a fan of your delicious nut cake, which I buy regularly—often as a gift for friends. Unfortunately, my last visit was a huge disappointment. I simply asked for a cardboard box—something I've received before—so the cake would look nicer when I give it away. A woman with light brown hair, around 45-55 years old, spoke to me in a particularly unfriendly manner, as if I wanted to use the box for homemade cakes (!), and gave me an unwarranted scolding in front of other customers. Completely inappropriate behavior. Moreover, this time there was no expiration date on the cake, which is usually the case. She assured me it was from that day, but after such an experience, I wonder if that's true. I'm especially disappointed because the rest of the team has always been incredibly friendly and helpful. Such an attitude really damages your image—which is a shame, because your products are of good quality. I hope you take this feedback seriously: as a customer, you expect not only good products, but also respectful and professional customer contact.

Terribly poor service. The staff looks at you when you walk in but doesn't ask if you'd like to order anything. They have a very unsympathetic look and little chemistry between the staff.

Bought a frozen cake today. I've never eaten such a disgusting cake in my life! Tastes old and greasy! I'll never buy it again; it's definitely not worth €14.50! Yuck!

Really bad service. We wanted a piece of cake. After cueing at the cash register, we were told (not very nicely) to seat and someone would come. Nobody came for quite some time. We went back in asking and they said to wait because busy. Only 1/3 of the tables were taken, it was quite empty. Nice cakes but clearly unable to manage people

Lovely store and tearoom! A very welcoming aesthetic and personnel, I’ve enjoyed my stay tremendously and the cookie that I had was amazing! The store has a wide variety of treats, confectionery and fresh breads. I sat in the Tea room section for a while. The staff is very friendly and patient. This place had a great atmosphere and it was very relaxing to sit here and enjoy my tea and snack. An absolute treat! I would highly recommend this place and will definitely come back soon!

I have never experienced such bad and even hostile service. I am a regular customer because the pastries taste delicious, but I am afraid of the staff every time I visit! I go there with my 7-year-old daughter and even she is afraid of them. First, they make you wait 25 minutes before taking your order, and if you dare to try to order earlier, they treat you like a second-class citizen and say they will come back later to take your order. Usually, while we sit outside and wait, we see other customers just give up and leave before they can even order. It often happens that the pastries we saw in the display case are already sold out by the time we can order, even though there were plenty when we arrived. Once I was in a rush, so I went inside and bought something for takeaway, but if you ask for a fork or spoon, you get SHOT OUT because they don't give you one. The waitress serving the outdoor tables is particularly rude to everyone who comes her way, and I have never seen her smile or be nice (and I go there every other day). I really don't understand why the owners still haven't taken measures to resolve this problem after so many bad reviews. Because this is actually such a lovely family business and the products are really good. It is a real shame that the experience is ruined by such rude service.

Yesterday was a day in Amsterdam, and we stopped by the new Kwekkeboom for a cup of coffee and a treat. The waitresses kept walking past our table. After 10 minutes, my son went to the counter to ask: "They will come to you eventually." It took a while again, and we were ignored. We left. Young, inexperienced staff who want to keep costs down, but charge top dollar for a Tompoes.

Today, I had a very unpleasant experience at Kwekkeboom with my 2-year-old daughter. We bought two croissants and sat down at a table that had not yet been cleared, just like several other tables. A waitress came over to us and indicated that we should have ordered the croissants from her. I apologized and stated that I was unaware of this, but that I now understand for next time. I also told her that my little daughter would finish her croissant within five minutes. She then indicated that the prices are different when you eat on-site, which I understand due to extra service charges. I considered ordering drinks, but to my surprise, we were literally told that we were not allowed to stay and had to leave. This felt incredibly unfriendly to customers. Given this experience, we will place our monthly office cake orders elsewhere from now on.

When you think of Kwekkeboom, you think of quality, and that has been the case for years… 👏.. the cheese croissant is too delicious and well-filled 👍

We have enjoyed visiting the bakery for years. Unfortunately, at the new location, the staff on the café side are truly customer-unfriendly. A series of mistakes (from making us wait fifteen minutes to dirty crockery, unfriendly treatment, and products not being in stock). Instead of an apology, the lady came to lecture me. I still can't believe it. We have lost a loyal customer because of this. I hope you get things sorted out soon; otherwise, the shop looks good.

Quaint and pleasant little place

Unfortunately, it is no longer what it used to be. Expensive for nothing. The name no longer stands for what it stood for. Many cakes, etc., come from the freezer, where they go back in unsold to be resold in the following days. Displayed cookies, etc., are only tasty on the day they are delivered; afterwards, they lie drying out on the shelf for days, and you end up buying a pig in a poke. Sausage rolls are extremely greasy and lie drying out under the lamp. Certain products do not always taste the same, which is supposedly due to interns or apprentice bakers. In short: go back to basics!

I was getting oliebollen today, and my friend asked, "Are they made today?" It was a perfectly normal question. But the girl who helped us told us three times that she thought it was a stupid question, which was very rude and definitely not customer-friendly. I've been coming here for years, but not anymore.

Ordered a simple tosti ham/cheese. It took ages and was partly burned. The girl on duty useless and not fit to work here.

Placed a simple order, had to wait a while for my order to be made. Then didn't receive my full order while customers that came after me received their order which included what I ordered. Left empty-handed

I am very satisfied with my regular visits to this pastry shop. The staff is extremely friendly, and the quality of their products is excellent. An additional advantage is that they do not use gelatin, which is essential for me when buying tompouces. For me, Kwekkeboom is the only place where I can find this delicacy without gelatin. Although I always thought that whipped cream cake was overrated, Kwekkeboom pleasantly surprised me with the deliciousness of their variant. The pistachio grandeurs, Sacher cake, nut cookies covered in chocolate and croissants are all excellent. The pastries are fresh and delicious, and the staff is always friendly and helpful.

Excellent cafe with a wide range of Dutch cakes and pastries. You can even order from the range in the shop next door. Top service and tips for a stimulating afternoon. PS: The TOMPOUCE was simply great!

it has so many names, kroket, croquet, croquette, this is the original where it comes from, of indonesian “kroket”. crispy on the outside, soft and tasty on the inside. certainly does not disappoint. will come back here if we have the opportunity to visit Amsterdam again. pray and wish 🤞✌️🫰 RECOMMENDED

Freshly baked bread every day, hot snacks such as croissants, sausages, ham/cheese sandwiches... delicious.

I regularly come and buy pastries and chocolate in a box and it is always more than delicious. I used to spend a lot of time on the terrace, which was fun and there was always a lot to see on that busy corner.

Almost Happy New Year 2024!!! Despite living in the Netherlands for quite a while now, i still find it a most interesting cultural phenomenon to see the locals queuing up almost everywhere in the Netherlands apparently to buy oliebollen and appelbeignets and eating them at home on the last day and evening of the year. This is quite a popular patisserie and cafe and the queue here on every New Year's Eve is really long. We come here sometimes to buy their really quite delicious cheese snacks and of course on every New Year's Eve for the really quite excellent oliebollen and appelbeignets. Friendly, kind, helpful and professional staff members. For me personally, the prices here are quite OK for Amsterdam. To each and everyone of you, a very Happy New Year 2024!!!🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂

Whipped cream cake for 10/11 people from 24.80 where the whipped cream is whipped so stiff that it tastes more like butter than light whipped cream. Unfortunately, your quality is no longer what we are used to and the service when you call to report it is poor. But like the lady on the phone said, if I don't like it I should just buy the cake somewhere else, I will follow her advice and throw the rest of the cake in the trash where it belongs!!

Delicious pastries and nice place for a cup of coffee. The filled cookie and whipped cream omelette is highly recommended. Service good but a bit messy.

Poor communication and service. Ordered a cake online last week asking if it was possible to make a baby figure on the cake, for example, from chocolate. On their own initiative they make a small molded marzipan baby figure, for which an additional “10 euros” is charged upon collection. Something other than what you asked for, without discussing this with the customer and then the customer is robbed with an extra “10 euros”. When expressing dissatisfaction and surprise about this, both in the store and by telephone at the head office, the customer is not offered a solution to accommodate the customer. The gentleman on the phone indicates that they have 'at least' made something for the cake and that this is "service". Service is something completely different, dear employee. It is not a service if the customer has to pay an extra '10 euros' for it. Again '10 euros' for a 'little baby figure'! Plenty of other artisan bakeries in Amsterdam where communication, honesty and customer satisfaction come first.

It's a shame that you can't eat a sandwich during the week.

Al jaren een tevreden klant. Bij Kwekkeboom Oost . Heerlijke koffie en gebak. Personeel is altijd vriendelijk. En zelfs de krant ontbreekt niet bij de koffie tafel. Mooi ook om te zien dat deze onderneminings fam deze zaken al decennia,s lang in stand weten te houden!!!!

Vrij prijzig. Lang gewacht op onze lunch. Wel een gezellige plek om te zitten.

Top kroket, lekker rustig binnen.

Een hamkaas croissant, pain au chocolat en een appelkanjer gehaald. Héérlijk! Vooral waard om een blokje voor om te gaan zijn de chocolade gember sticks. Behoorlijk aan de prijs (8,25) maar dat zijn ze echt waard. Ieder chocolaatje is weer een traktatie en gelukkig zitten er een hoop in het doosje!

Goede koffie en lekker gebak. Tosti's zijn ook prima.

Bekend adres voor Amterdammers. Bediening was nogal chaotisch deze dag ivm inwerken nieuw personeel. Saucijzenbroodje van black angus viel eerlijk gezegd, en jammer genoeg, wat tegen vanwege papperige vulling.

Bediening oke.1 medewerkster was heel erg aanwezig en overdreven in haar contakt met de klanten.Andere medewerkster mocht alleen maar de mindere klusjes doen.Vandaar 2 sterren.

Ik heb nu hier nu 3 keer geluncht. Het is niet uitzonderlijk lekker maar gewoon prima.

A slice of chocolate cake was delicious. The taste of chocolate was nice and smooth. The bakery part is quite small. But you can sit and enjoy in the patisserie part (next to the bakery). I will try rest of the cakes definitely.

Aardig personeel. Lekkere kroketjes en n prima uitsmijter. Leuk plekje, we zaten lekker bij t raam.

Vorige week 7 oktober bij Kwekkeboom zitten lunchen samen met mijn vrouw. vroeger was dit altijd top! Hoe het nu is, ga ik nooit meer terug. Ik had 2 broodjes kroket en mijn vrouw een uitsmijter kaas, beiden gekozen voor bruin brood. De kroketten waren prima, echter het brood was op, ik kon wel een paar kleine broodjes krijgen of pistoletjes. Mijn vrouw had nog wel 2 bruine boterhammen welke erg droog waren (volgens mij was het gewoon oud brood). Wanneer je dan twee broodjes krijgt met daarop een rondje (ongeveer 10cm) ei. Dusdanig dat de helft van het broodje leeg is, en je hebt dan zulk droog brood zonder boter o.i.d. dan komt dat erg zuinig over, buiten dat het niet te eten is. Tot slot bestellen wij nog 2 tompoucen, om mee te nemen, welke normaal altijd heerlijk zijn. Deze smaakten ook droog en oud. Ik heb respect voor het feit dat alles duurder wordt, maar op deze manier bezuinigen!!!!! Ons zal je daar niet meer zien. Ter controle voor Kwekkeboom: Ik heb op 7 oktober om 14.20 uur een pinbetaling gedaan van 33,00 euro.
