Surprisingly tasty. Sometimes you know a place has great fries, sometimes you’re not so sure. At La Fresh, I wasn’t sure but they really managed to surprise me. I ordered a normal sized portion of fries with mayonnaise. The portion was excellent in size. The fries themselves were really good. Very crispy on the outside, while soft on the inside. They were salty which I personally like. The price of the fries was very affordable, especially compared to what they charge at some places in Amsterdam. The sauce was a bit on the pricey side but it was a good portion and delivered in a separate container. The staff is very friendly and there are lot’s of seats inside. Definitely worth a visit.

I've often passed by, but this is the first time I've stepped inside. This is what a snack bar used to be like in my (43-year-old) memory, without being dated, by the way. Just enjoyed some Korean Loaded Fries with a pistachio milkshake. Truly delicious and exceeded all expectations!

Went there on September 1, 2025...was lured in by the menu option "fries and stew"...seriously??? The best ever!!!! And a snack bar owner with a great sense of humor. We'll definitely be back.

Loaded Fries Indonesia are my absolute favorite loaded fries - from anywhere. Aside from that the employees are very friendly and the service is fast even when it’s super busy - which is often! It was impressive how well they handled how busy it was on October 3rd last year. :)

La Fresh,....prominently located in the Haarlemmerstraat in Leiden, is certainly more than the standard snack bar. The fries are freshly cut and you can taste that. Some of the sauces are prepared in their own kitchen, with the homemade peanut sauce definitely worth mentioning. Friendly staff and the owner really has an eye for customers and a chat. Works at least as hard. More than enough seats inside....and if you are lucky you can sit outside on a tiny terrace and "people watch"...

The London ones were divine and could have used more pickles.

Don't take fries stew there is no piece of meat in it. And it is ready-made mess not edible. You pay a lot for it and it is not tasty.

2025.5.31 I ordered a soft serve ice cream for 1.5€ The smooth and rich soft serve ice cream was exactly the same as the one I had in Japan, which brought back memories. The size was just right and the price was reasonable. The soft serve ice cream was a little runny from the start and melted quickly, dripping down the side of the cone, so be careful when giving it to small children. The staff were friendly and helpful with a smile. Credit cards are accepted.

The most expensive fries I've ever eaten in a dull shopping mall! 10.50 for 2 fries with. Uhhh at Bram's you get twice as much for less and tastier.

This weekend we went to eat with my daughter, freshly made fries and the sauce that I was allowed to taste by the owner was great. Mayo with a bit of mustard in.. The Belgians. Btw we keep our fingers crossed for the daughter in Leuven 🤞

Good fries, sauces, and drinks at a reasonable price, considering it's located downtown. There are plenty of different seating options, as the interior extends quite far back. Since it was cold, windy, and rainy outside during our visit, we were glad that there were so many nice seats in the back. It wasn't cold at all there. The staff was friendly. There are many sauces to choose from, listed on a board at the ordering counter. We really enjoyed the Joppie sauce. This restaurant also offers a good selection of loaded fries, but we didn't try it.

Was continuously addressed in English even though this employee could speak Dutch. Then I asked for a strawberry milkshake and the employee repeated "strawberry milkshake". Then I got vanilla anyway. Refused to give a new one and kept insisting that my white colored milkshake is strawberry flavour. Ridiculous and extremely rude. You really can't deal with customers like that.

Had dinner here last night, what incredibly sweet staff, service-oriented, super friendly upon arrival, while eating and leaving and fries/croquettes, super fresh and prepared with care, compliments!

It is a nice place to stop and eat and snack, you can sit in a warm and clean place. We ordered 2 loaded fries, and my boyfriend orden the Korean and he liked it, I ordered the Italian and didn't like the truffle mayo didn't taste good quality and the mixed flavor with the cheese, truffle mayo and fries was a bit sweet, so I ate only the fries.

Despite the extremely tasty peanut sauce, we miss the old guard behind the counter. The people around us had to wait more than fifteen minutes for their fries today, they even wanted to have an older couple pick up fries that had been on the counter for more than fifteen minutes. Totally uninspired staff, absent, impersonal; We miss everything that was here a few years ago, friendly and nice men who had a chat. We always stopped by when we were in Leiden, but this afternoon we saw everything that this place never was...a shame!!!

The food is okay, but especially the decor makes it cozy. There is nothing wrong with the service, just the difference between an electronic detector or someone who brings you food. That deserves a star, right?

Just really good fries! Choice of different mayos Meatball in gravy really tasty. Not too dry, but nice and tender/smooth.

The best fry shop I've been to in the Netherlands so far. The food was incredible, our party got the Indonesian and Korean loaded fries and everything in them tasted so good and fresh. The fries are cut fresh and super crispy, you can really tell the difference between here and the other cafeterias that use frozen poor quality fries. Plus the atmosphere is really cozy and there's tons of seating, AND the owner came through to ask us how our food was, and was so happy to hear we liked it that he brought us free homemade oliebollen. Can't recommend enough!

Excellent chip shop in the center, where you can order different "sizes" of cones of fries. Then delivered in a standard.....handy! Tasty, but pricey and the sauces are limited. Furthermore, a great "snack" for a day in the city.

Burger was ok, fries very good. The employee was super patient and did a spontaneous sauce tasting with me when I was unsure which sauce I wanted to use. Definite recommendation.

We waited about 30 minutes with my infant and after this time, they told us ‘sorry we forget your orders’. We just ordered patat, not a complex menu. If you go there, remind you and your orders in every 2 minutes.

When I'm in Leiden, I always eat here. Everything is tasty. Today a portion of chicken satay with delicious peanut sauce. The price of € 9.50 for a portion of satay could be a bit less in my opinion.

Delicious fries, cut in-house and fried just right. They have so many different sauces that it is always difficult to choose. And then I'm not even talking about the tasty snacks to go with the fries! I've been coming here since they opened many years ago and have been a big fan and loyal visitor ever since!

Some good quality fries in the city center of Leiden. I wouldnt say they are among the best I ever had but this place does offer many different sauces and loaded fries, which differentiates it from many other frietshops in the area. The staff was also very friendly and the portions were fair.

Small, unpretentious chip shop where we tasted all types of fast food such as snacks, burgers... fair prices and generous portions, you will also have a wide choice of sauces (all optional and with extra charge) The staff is very professional and welcoming, you will delight young and old alike with a cone or something else if you feel like it.

Average chips, with an abundant selection of overpriced mayonnaise. Although mayonnaise is a hallmark of the Dutch cuisine, it doesn't really add to the experience by having a dozen different ones. You can only pick one, and most snackbars have only one or two good ones. Half of the typical Dutch snackbar items are not on the menu here, which is too bad. The pricing is pretty high for a snackbar. It seems that the aim is to reel in tourists that are shopping at the Haarlemmerstraat by looking a little fancy and then charging them top price. Without any reference you'd think you're in a good place. Many cheaper places around town, with much tastier chips and a better selection of snacks available around town. Lately the restaurant has been having problems with plumbing and rodents as well. The owner has been blaming residents around the establishment for this. No idea what's the truth in this, but I am slightly concerned with the overall hygiene and food safety nonetheless.

Has been coming here since I moved 3 years ago to the area consistently the best chippie of the Leiden region.

I ordered xl fries with peanut sauce to take away. We had to wait 15/20 minutes for this while there were 4 staff members present. We had been given a timer that did not go off... at one point we were asked what exactly we had ordered and whether we wanted to take it with us... And was it worth the wait? No, very few fries seemed like a normal portion and for 7.75 a lot of money for little, the taste was not much special either.
