Snackbar Hendo Hoge Rijndijk in Roodenburgerdistrict

Great story: this establishment has been around for over 60 years and, as a resident of Leiden and Leiderdorp, offers a lot of dining pleasure and quality. This snack bar is a fine example of iconic establishments in Leiden, such as the military dump station Labryere and the Burcht restaurant and city park.

Crispy fries, quick service, generous portion of sauce

The food is tasty, the meatballs are tender and the fries are well-salted, soft and crunchy, which really touches me, but the chicken tenders were very salty and smelled like curry because there were way too many spices on them. It is still tasty though.

Wow. This used to be a good snack bar 20 years ago. The fries tasted like they had been fried six times. Hard as a brick and very greasy. The croquette was fried too long or at too high a temperature. The filling was still boiling hot even after I had eaten half of the fries. The table on the side was dirty and could use a fresh coat of paint. I would sum it up as faded glory.

Good fries and snacks, fast service and friendly staff

Lovely owner that prepare your food really fast. You can either take a sit inside or take away. The croquettes were really good and the portion of french fridge quiet big. Nice place for a quick lunch.

Croquette was big but mediocre in quality, fries a huge portion but bad with burnt pieces. Frikadel was then normal, to be expected, quality, It was Monday and many snack bars are closed then, so choice limited, that's how I ended up there. Next time Hendo Marnixstraat or oven fries from the supermarket, I'll leave these for what they are.

Great snack bar, they work hard to get your order ready on time, it's always complete, and if anything is ever wrong, they're always happy to compensate. It has a neat appearance, and the staff is very friendly. There's a wide selection on the menu. Highly recommended.

I was told by a local that this place (together with their other shop) has the best French fries of Leiden and I can only confirm that assertion. I can't even remember when I've had better fries than these here in Holland. The price is similar to other snack bars but their portions are much bigger. Highly recommended!

€5.85 for a cheeseburger is quite expensive. It was good by the way. But it is a shame that you can't take off a napkin.

Very friendly staff. Generous portion of fries with a Tsunami of onions (at my request) Euro 3.70 for a bowl of fries that tasted delicious. My first visit and certainly not the last. Parking is available in front of the door on the Hoge Rijndijk.

Mijn patatje hete kip was gluten vrij. Ze dachten mee en gingen speciaal alles bekijken waar geen gluten in zat. Pinda saus was gluten. Was erg fijn 😊

Heerlijke patat en snel je eten

Ik heb in Leiden gestudeerd, in Bona in 1993, dus ik heb die herinnerin dat de frietjes waren de lekkerste! Alles zo lekker, de pindasaus en de kroketen. Ik ben nooit meer terug naar deze plaats, het is jammer om te lezen dat de qualiteit niet meer goed is maar in ieder geval het was een heel mooi verrassing om nog steeds deze snack bar te vinden in google maps. Goede herinnerinen. Groetjes! ik zou terug gaan allen om te proberen de frietjes nog een ker :)

Solid snackbar, with great fries and crispy snacks. Always seems to be clean. Efficient service, although sometimes try to do things too fast, and then any non-standard details of an order get lost. More and better vegetarian options than average.

Broodjes in overvloed tartaar gezond speklap je kan het zo gek niet verzinnen uitstekend en niet duur. Je kan hier natuurlijk ook iets uit de frituur nemen genoeg keus. Gezellig leuke eigenaar

Helaas niet meer wat het geweest is. Ooit een mooie Leidsche snackbar en 1 van de 7. Maar nu overgenomen en de glorie is weg. Voelt een beetje tweedehands. Maar ze verkopen er nog wel friet daarom 2 sterren...

Beetje rommelig geworden vieze prijsborden rommelig en ruikt het vet zurige vetlucht binnen. Kroket smaakt oud en muf.goede schoonmaakbeurt en opknapbeurt nodig.

De kwaliteit is niet zoals we gewend zijn van een tijd geleden. Er zaten drie verschillende soorten gebakken raspatat in onze bestelling. Thuis aangekomen ontbraken de vlammetjes bij onze bestelling.

Had zin in patat pindasaus. Kreeg prima patat in ruime hoeveelheid.

Ik vind het wel lekkere patat. Een dame en een heer werken daar. Ze doen het wel goed vind ik ondanks de hectiek en de drukte.
