We had a wonderful evening. The owner immediately offered suggestions for a menu and drinks. Later, the whole table was filled with delicious treats. We finished off with a shot on the house. Delicious.

Ordered online tonight. The person who answered didn't speak Dutch. So I ordered numbers 1 and 30 in English. The man said number 30 wasn't there. I double-checked and told him it was tabbouleh. When I got home, it turned out only number 1 was in the bag. No tabbouleh, but I paid €21, which is a strange price because it should have been €23.99. Next time we'll order from somewhere else.

The owner was very pushy, trying to make us order more than we wanted. It made us feel very uncomfortable.

Unfortunately, we didn't have a chance to properly study the menu. The owner probably forced a set menu on us, which we then ordered. The food was tasty, but the portions were tiny. If you'd like to drink a dry wine there, you should probably skip it... The value for money isn't right, and it's not nice to be taken by surprise like that.

We've been completely blown away again. 😀. We got through a social deal, 30 euros for a 5-course dinner for two. A super friendly man offered us all sorts of things in between: bread with spread, a cup of coffee, and baklava. We know you have to pay a lot for all that, so the total comes out higher. We knew that. The total bill was almost 70 euros, which was no problem for us. It's something to keep in mind.

Scammers. The waitress was pushy about the orders. She Lied about the Proeverij menu. She said it was for 3 people but she could discount it for 2 people and would have to pay 15 euro instead of price stated in menu. In the end she charged 30 euro claiming that it was price for per person. No where in the menu did it clarify. And 8 euros for a small cube of baklava??? I would avoid this place.

The BabaGanoush was really good, the rest was mediocre at best. Don't expect to get what you ordered, and things that are presented as complimentary will be charged for heavily when the bill comes. I ordered the vegan Biryani and was served cheese... The menu is deliberately confusing. And we all knew about the scam with the water bottles at the table but didn't mind, I mean how bad could it be? Well let me tell you, 9€ per bottle... You will get better falafel at any hole in the wall, this place is a waste of your time and hard earned money. If you want to get a feel of how any complaints are handled, just read the passive (not always so passive) aggressive answers from the owner. Avoid.

Just had dinner at La Mezza. Delicious. We opted for a set menu so we could all try new flavors, and it was a success. At the owner's recommendation, we went for the set menu and also had a Lebanese beer. Perfect. We'll definitely be back.

La Mezza is without a doubt one of the best dining experiences you can have in Groningen. The atmosphere is warm/inviting and the service is exceptional.. you really feel welcome from the moment you walk in. The food is truly fantastic. Everything is fresh, perfectly seasoned and bursting with flavour. Whether you want to dine extensively or just want to have a nice and easy meal, this is the place to be. Absolutely recommended for anyone who loves delicious food and hospitality!

2 for the food. Furthermore, this is just a scam. If the waiter says something is 'on the house', you will see that item later on the receipt. We ended up paying double what we expected to pay and got very small portions. Because we liked the food, we thought we would come back again. But we didn't.

We were advised to take the tasting, but wanted a vegetarian option. Despite the tasty food, we were slightly disappointed that this was our vegetarian tasting. We have knowledge of Lebanese cuisine and this could have been better. We paid €42 for two people for this tasting. In addition, the service kept walking away and was very fresh in the restaurant.

Picked up, order was not ready at agreed time, potatoes burned, so-called fresh smoothie came straight from a pack, really expensive for what you get. Wrap itself is fine. The restaurant itself looks attractive.

Wij reserveerden rechtstreeks bij het restaurant ipv de social deal te boeken nadat we van een vriend gehoord hadden dat de eigenaar hen had verteld dan 8 ipv 7 tapas kon bieden voor hetzelfde geld. De eigenaar heeft een vlotte babbel en praat je op een handige en slinkse manier van alles aan waarbij hij doet alsof het van het huis is ‘willen jullie dit van mij?’ ‘Zal ik even wat op tafel zetten’? ‘Dan geef ik jullie dit gerechtje ook nog met korting erbij.’ Uiteindelijk werden alles aan de tafel razendsnel opgenoemd en op een rekenmachine ingetikt en kwam er een torenhoge rekening uit. Wij voelden ons echt opgelicht. Hier komen wij niet meer terug.

What a discovery! Last Saturday I had dinner at La Mezza, and I can honestly say that this was one of the best restaurant experiences in Groningen. From the moment we walked in, we were taken into consideration - we asked for a quiet spot, and that was arranged without any difficulty. The service was warm, genuinely friendly and truly hospitable. The food was delicious. Everything was beautifully presented and packed with flavour. Especially nice: there is plenty of choice for vegetarians, which makes it a perfect place to have dinner with my vegetarian girlfriend. The atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed, stylish and cozy - you immediately feel at ease here. I liked it so much that I'm coming back next Tuesday. Can't wait to try more of the menu. As far as I'm concerned, La Mezza is a keeper!

Delicious dinner tonight! Had an extensive tapas menu with all kinds of delicious dishes from the Lebanese cuisine. The service was also very good. The owner regularly came to ask if everything was to your liking and gave a nice explanation of the dishes. Lebanese cuisine was still somewhat unknown to us, but we were able to get to know this fantastic, tasty cuisine here. Atmosphere was good, food was good and the service was also very pleasant. All in all highly recommended! Until next time 😁

Helaas, de kwaliteit van de mezze viel enorm tegen, zeker afgezet tegen de prijs. Geen oljven, ui of knoflook in de salades, de knoflooksaus was weinig subtiel, de humus leek van de Hanos, de dolmas waren ronduit saai.

2.5 hours of delicious food. Friendly but also a bit rushed. Mezze with attention and care. Decoration beautiful and stylish. A bit cold inside (end of November, freezing outside). Highly recommended!

I noticed that this restaurant was empty most of the time, even though it looked nice on the outside(remember this), so I decided to give it a chance. It was horrible!!! The waitress made us sit right at the front on the window, even though the restaurant was empty(to make it look more attractive and full on the outside). It's one of those places where you get presented with an "outdated menu" (nothing on that menu has the actual prices), waitress makes you order as many things as possible (by any means, even making you look cheap), you get lied to the face about prices and you get a nice surprise when you receive the bill. The waitress was drunk or under some sort of influence. Food was okay, but nothing special. We paid the average tourist trap price, or 90 euros for a 2 person combo meal and one portion of fries, nothing else. I won't dive into each item coming with this option, however serving sizes were really small. When we asked the waitress about the situation she just down plaid her mistake, blamed it on her bad English and then made the situation seem awkward by asking us if we can pay..(If this is not prejudice I don't know what is) Anyways, don't come here, it is not worth it, there are way better choices in Groningen!

Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant took a negative turn after an initially warm welcome. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff seems friendly initially, but they quickly become overbearing and intrusive. Our waitress answered questions about pricing in English before we ordered, yet when the final bill was almost double the expected amount, she suddenly seemed to have difficulty with English and claimed communication issues. Rather than calmly addressing a potential error, she made us uncomfortable by questioning whether we could afford the bill. Ultimately, we paid the total amount, but it left a bad impression. On a positive note, the food was generally delicious and well-presented. Given that it’s a Lebanese restaurant known for fresh, vibrant flavors, it was a shame the falafel tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for days. This missed the mark on what we hoped would be an authentic experience.

Never again! This is the worst restaurant in Groningen. You will get charged much more than what is listed on the menu. The owner is disrespectful to both customers and workers. Don't waste your time or money there. Unfortunately, there is no option to rate it less than one star.

I recently visited this restaurant and my experience was extremely disappointing. The owner presented a pleasant facade towards customers, but his behavior towards employees was terrible and inappropriate. The portions were tiny, and the pricing was misleading. What was advertised as a main menu for two people for €22 turned out to be a ridiculously expensive offering. A mini plate of hummus, a mini portion of mayonnaise, half raw falafel, a small salad plate and two tiny bites of Mannish for a total of €60. As a regular visitor to Arabic restaurants I can say that the quality and quantity here were unacceptable. The food was tasteless and disappointing. The way the owner treated his employees was inappropriate and disrespectful. His friendliness just seemed fake and dishonest. Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Without a doubt my favorite restaurant in Groningen. The food is delicious. I have now tried a large part of the menu and there is not a single dish that I would not like to eat again. The atmosphere is also incredibly welcoming and the owner/manager clearly puts a lot of effort into making guests feel welcome. Have had nothing but positive experiences at La Mezza and look forward to eating here again in the future.

Good place suitable for families

While I had made a reservation, it was not known...staff only spoke English... We tried it but not our thing...meat very dry...

It was so-so. Staff friendly and it is no problem to adjust things, which is very nice. We came for the social deal of 13.95 pp, the portion is on the small side, but fine for that price. Wouldn't pay the full price for it, recommend ordering the snacks separately, you get a better price-quality ratio. Falafel is nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the hummus is also my favorite. The meat (both köfte and chicken) was unfortunately dry, I pointed it out, but the owner said that was the way it should be and nothing further was done about it. However, I expect tender meat in a restaurant, so that was a disappointment. €1 was deducted from the tea as compensation, which was nice. Other than that it's fine, nice lights and decoration. Service somewhat inexperienced. Owner likes to have a chat.

Got a tapas dinner at La Mezza via social deal. The vouchers were 13.95 euros per person. I bought for 3 people. One person lost weight so we thought the two of us could eat this just fine. Nothing could be further from the truth. We had said in advance that we had paid vouchers for 3 people and were 2 people. Everything was put on the table without us asking or ordering anything and at the end of the evening we had to pay another 59.60 euros (in addition to the 41.85 euros in vouchers we had already paid!). Everything was served without consultation. In short, a tapas dinner of 51 euros per person. We were willing to pay a little more but honestly felt quite ripped off. In short, do not order Social deal vouchers from this restaurant, it will ultimately cost you much more than a normal tapas restaurant. Not recommended!

Wat een fantastisch eten en een zeer attente gastheer/eigenaar. De ambiance is heel gemoedelijk en er is veel mogelijk. Ik kan het heel erg waarderen als er pro actief suggesties voor het eten of de drankjes worden gedaan. Ik ga zeker weer hier eten!

We took a starter and tapas menu and were then convinced to finish with a small piece of baklava. The food was delicious and the jovial service was much appreciated! Geweldig sfeer en een lekkere tafel vol eten voor een prima prijs. De bediening is aardig en helpt je graag, vooral met het aanbieden van de heerlijke baklawa.

Via socialdeal op een goedkope actie gereageerd voor tapas stijl hoofdgerechten voor 14e. Laten we met het positieve beginnen: het eten was heel erg lekker, en daar zou ik ook zeker voor terugkomen. Als vegetariër ook veel opties. Dan het negatieve: de ober/eigenaar cornerde ons zowat om er 2 voorgerechten bij te bestellen op zo'n veel te gladde verkopersmanier, hetzelfde geld voor het toetje. Je voelt je bezwaard/cheap als je er niet in meegaat. Ik snap dat dit misschien de enige manier is om toch wat te verdienen aan die social deals, maar creëert toch niet helemaal een lekkere sfeer.

Goed en lekker eten. met voorafje genoeg voor 2 personen, is weer even wat anders. Alleen het tafelbestek mag wel wat schoner. De bediening spreekt alleen Engels. en mag klantgerichter.

Geboekt via social deal. Nette prijs, bijkomende drankjes zijn erg aan de prijs. Vooral eigen gefabriceerde drankje is erg duur, heb je niet door als je bestelt. Maar verder prima tent.
