We ate at La Paella again last Friday, and it was fantastic once again. The wide selection of tapas is all super fresh and delicious. After the tapas, we ordered a paella dish and mussels, as usual. Owner Roberto gave us some drinks on the house (after having served complimentary dishes and offered us digestives on previous visits). A very nice place, great atmosphere, and fantastic—and funny—service. Highly recommended!!!

Accessible and cozy restaurant with delicious paella!

I had the Paella Especial, it was very good, not crowded, with background jazz and Spanish music. A great place in Amsterdam. Paella always takes time to prepare, whether in Barcelona or Amsterdam, that's normal; here, it takes about 25 minutes to prepare, enough time to enjoy a bowl of soup, for example.

Second time here, first for my birthday with family, and now with my girlfriend. We received a friendly welcome and were shown to a table. We were given the menu, made our choice, and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The friendly and cheerful service was excellent; we'll definitely be back.

Yesterday I had dinner with friends. I ordered a veal schnitzel, but it was far too tough and also very thin. The dessert, a banana split with whipped cream, was also disappointing. The whipped cream clearly came from a can, and I suspect it was the cheapest kind. If I hadn't been with friends, I would have returned the schnitzel and left. It is an INSULT to Spanish food. We ordered some bravas, the potatoes were overcooked and oily, the sauce was nothing special, the Russian salad had to be from the supermarket because I don't believe a cook is capable of making that, thank goodness the beer doesn't change the flavor because it was the only good thing, the staff was good and attentive.

The paella tastes good, however, the plate used by husband was quickly removed from our table and we asked for another clean plate later. Found that they charged us 3 Euros for the requested clean plate❗️

I can’t vouch for the entire menu, but the paella is first rate! They also have a full Tapas menu that looks very authentic. I just stumbled across his place because I’m staying nearby and didn’t want to eat pizza or pasta. It’s a small informal place very close to the center. Strongly recommended!

Authentic paella. Absolutely stunning! My dad’s Spanish friend used to make us a paella that was 10 out of 10 and I’ve never had anything as tasty since. This place makes the perfect paella and really is the real deal. Just perfect!

Amazing tapas and paella in the heart of Amsterdam.

We started with melon con jamón, a plate with four slices of melon and delicious, savory ham. This was followed by a gazpacho that captivated with its subtle, distinct flavors. The paella marinera was perfect, every bite a delight. And then, for dessert, lemon sorbet arrived, conjuring up an explosion of flavor with every spoonful – delicious! I found the house red wine interesting, but a bit heavy after a while. The sangria, on the other hand, had a lovely, light, summery flavor. Simply delicious Spanish cuisine. Tired of eating sausage and mashed potatoes... welcome to Spain. Paella and fedua were excellent. Kept warm on a stove at the end of the table, the server served the first portion on your plate. To tide us over, as it was a bit long, we were brought bread and garlic cream. The decor is retro and it's noisy, but we had a really good meal with friendly service.

my mom and her friend were craving paella and this restaurant was literally right in front of us. you can smell the delicious aroma just coming towards the door. we just ordered the seafood paella and the paella valenciana. so so good omg. it was so worth the wait. the paella was absolutely phenomenal, probably the best i’ve ever had. it was so good we went here twice, once on our first and the second on our last night in amsterdam. the staff are very friendly and welcoming. totally recommend!

I came to that place specifically because I saw paella🥘 on the menu. I love paella, and this place's dish is large and delicious, just like it was in Spain. Even better, they have sangria, which is another great offering! The staff is very polite and friendly. Definitely recommend!

What a bad experience I had the last time I went. The service was very poor. The waitress, a very arrogant and pedantic blonde girl, took orders and answered questions. She was very rude to the customer, not at all professional. The food, my paella, was very bad, dry and tasteless. The other food ordered was also not delicious at all, as expected. The kitchen was very poorly organized. They brought out all the appetizers separately, and the food was cold. Aside from one of my best restaurants, I will never return.

What a disappointment, today I took my mother to dinner at her favorite restaurant in Amsterdam, for more than 10 years enjoying delicious authentic Spanish food, the waitress was a girl with short blonde hair, not at all friendly or pre-professional. The food is cold and the flavor is clearly nafa to see. The sarsuela is super spicy and the paella is very very dry. not a pleasant night. I don't recommend it.

Delicious calamari and prawns for a good price.

They speak in Spanish, the attention is good, but the food does not reach the level of the Spanish, the delay in being served a paella (which they are supposed to have a large ready inside and heat in portions) is very long... as if they were just making it, so it takes a while, if you are hungry, you know you are going to wait! Apart from that, the paella is very greasy, the shrimp came undercooked, it was unfortunate, I couldn't eat it (they didn't clean it either, you could see all the dirt that the shrimp brings) I also ordered a cream of mushroom soup and it was literally an easy-to-prepare sachet cream that they sell in the supermarket and that you can prepare at home. And I also tried the Spanish tortilla and I almost thought it was an omelet because it was so thin and lacking in flavor…. In the end Food score 2 out of 10 And number 2 is for the decoration. Well….. we walked out in about 2 minutes didn’t have a meal there because it was quite clear from the start we were not wanted. It was empty inside with two other people so pretty much says it all. Clearly don’t like English speaking people and tourists, rude long dark hair women, customer service was actually dreadful. We were going to eat there and have lots of different tapas and plates because we love Spanish food and fancied something different that night. I’m glad we didn’t stay. We asked for tap water to start but said we had to order other drinks but we didn’t want any other drinks yet as we were thirsty and haven’t had any issues in other restaurants in Amsterdam so we left. Wouldn’t recommend if you’re a tourist avoid…

We were four people and they gave us a tapa of 3 meatballs, with that I say it all. The service was uncomfortable, the waiter had a higher grade Colombian cold. Bad food, tiny quantities, high prices. Let's not talk about the disgusting smell of the entire place, constant unhealthy feeling. The burger said it was Angus and I would say it was Angus because it was the sole of a Converse, REGRETTABLE, an attack on public health.

Typically Spanish place as soon as you enter and see how the waiters speak you realize that "you are" in Spain hehe. The food was good but prices were excessive in my opinion. €18 garlic chicken even if it was the menu that shows the prices marked lower prices.

Service was amazing, waitress made us feel at home and attentive to our needs. Food was amazing, one of the best paella's ever had. The calamari was gorgeous. We had the cheese tapas and it was interesting and we got to taste some Spanish cheeses. Also had garlic prawns and they were divine. When we visit Amsterdam again, we will deffo be back thank you for a great meal.

They seem as Spanish restaurant but no understandable a menu. You can see the tapas only related with Spanish tasting but not understandable content of menu for order! And also when you asked to staff they explain you can read on the menu :). No suggestion for your Amsterdam visit

Terrible service The food was fine. We ordered two paella but we found the texture of the rice quite mushy. It was quite disturbing that there were MANY small pieces of mussel shells in one of our paella. One got stuck in my teeth and frankly, it was quite dangerous. Can't imagine what'd happen if a piece of shell cuts through my mouth or throat. However, our biggest issue with the restaurant is the attitude of the waitress (black-haired waitress with a brown head band and a bun). We spoke English with the waitresses because we do not know any Spanish. When she came with our food, she told us the dish name in Spanish so of course, we were perplexed. We asked her nicely if she can speak English but she kept repeating the dish name in Spanish. When we asked for further clarification, she VISIBLY scowled at us, then aggressively flipped a menu to the right page to point at the dish. She continued to scoop our dish with the same scowling face. She was smiling at the other tables but when she served us, she looked so pissed and done with us. Really bad experience. DO NOT recommend.

Had dinner on weekend with a friend, ordered garlic potatoes, shrimp in some pineapple coleslaw, fried anchovies and sardines, fried calamari - the anchovies and sardines were definitely not fresh, the shrimp pineapple coleslaw tasted weird while the calamari were oily & soggy - definitely the worst spanish restaurant ever visited - we left, almost all the dishes uneaten

Melissa was super kind and offered us excellent service. We had paella, a tortilla española, and sangria. It was all delicious, well-portioned, and well-timed. An easy walk from the Art'otel with a relaxed and warm atmosphere.

Honestly…. I have a very hard time leaving bad reviews but this was just disheartening. And for the price it is, you get MUCH better food in other places in Amsterdam…. I wonder if they have been paying people to leave reviews because this is one of the worst places in Amsterdam I have seen. Let’s start with the 11€ starters where we ordered bacon and dates and they gave us 3 DATES. Couldn’t even get 2 each in our mouth. We ordered pork steak and paella and after waiting for 1 hour, the paella came lukewarm (and didn’t taste like ANYTHING, which is wild for a restaurant named La Paella) and they got the pork order wrong (sending the plate back took, as u can imagine, another 15 minutes by the time the fries were even colder and staler than how they already came). I don’t know how this is possible to get so wrong because the restaurant was almost empty. Takes a special level of incompetence. Furthermore, we did not say anything except at the end when the waitress came to take the plates and asked how the food was - we respectfully and kindly shared the feedback and instead of taking it gracefully, they did NOT apologize for anything and then suggested we were not telling the truth (young waitress with ponytail and black hair was rude) about the paella not being hot. Definitely recommend the place if you have 80€ to throw out of the window. From a southern european person, save your money GO ELSEWHERE. And as someone who works in costumer service, DO BETTER; train your waitresses and employees to do better because they could’ve saved the terrible food experience with some hospitality but only made matters worse. 0 hospitality and accountability. Go microwave some frozen paella from the grocery store (Albert heijn’s is more flavourful than what I just ate) and you’ll have the same food in half the time and a quarter of the price 🙃.

Very bad experience, we ordered 2 paellas and they brought one large dish. When paying, they put 4 paellas on the bill, practically €100!!! They made us pay 80 in the end, due to their mistake we had to pay handsomely. Frozen fish, savory dish.

I hope that there has been a big problem in the kitchen today. After waiting 2 hours for the delivery to arrive, the portions were really small, the food was old ( the chiken was not testing good ) I'm really sorry and disappointed considering it all. At least the flan was good.
