Yesterday we had delicious - perhaps the tastiest - tapas ever at La Tranca in Maastricht. No fancy bells and whistles, just good snacks. Everything was just right: a small & atmospheric place, great music, a friendly owner and ditto barmaid. Then we also had 2/3 of the staff, because then only the dishwasher was left. Great: the 3 of them served the guests at a fast pace. Everything we were served was perfectly seasoned, starting with the La Tranca special, but also the boquerones, the pan con ternera, chipirones & albondigas. The price including enough wines: just under 100 euros and that's fine! In short: highly recommended!

De krukken waren vreselijk om te zitten. De sfeer was geweldig. De eerste ronde bestelden we stokbrood met aioli en gamaba's uit de oven. Al snel kwamen met een mandje met Aioli, ik dacht dat is als service van het huis. Dat bleek toch al een van de bestellingen te zijn. Een heel klein stokbroodje met overduidelijk een bakje Aioli uit een bakje. Dat voor ruim 5 euro. De gamaba's waren lekker. Bij de volgende de ronde bestelden we beide beef met pepersaus. De Beef was gewoon gaar. Toen zagen we de kok met een pot van de knor peper roomsaus weglopen waren we klaar met eten. 8,25 per persoon. Daarvoor kan ik Knor ook in de winkel kopen. Elke euro vinden we op die manier te veel

Toevallig hier op uitgekomen op weg van het Vrijthof. Onverwacht lekker met supervriendelijke bediening. Knus met toepasselijke muziek, de zon in je glas en Spanje op je bord. Wat kan een mens meer verlangen op een kille vrijdag de dertiende!

Klein, knus gezellig Spaans restaurantje, lekkere tapas en vlees/vis gerechtjes, lekkere sfeer en heerlijke muziek, hartelijke bediening en goede service, lekkere Mahou biertjes. Voor een vrijdagmiddag borrel even inlopen een echte aanrader, 's avonds beter reserveren, want druk. Prima prijs-kwaliteit verhouding.

2 onervaren maar wel aardige meisjes, spraken alleen engels en Spaans, in de bediening; de hoge tafel met de te lage krukken zitten totaal niet comfortabel. Tafeltje aan het raam kwam vrij en wij vroegen of we daar konden zitten. Dat was wel gereserveerd maar volgens de bediening kon het wel. Wij zijn daar gaan zitten en toen kwam de kok = eigenaar op hoge poten aanlopen dat dit totaal niet de bedoeling was. Dat hadden de meisjes van de bediening nooit mogen doen, die tafel was gereserveerd en wij moeten direct terug naar de hoge (ongemakkelijke) tafel en toen kwam de afsluitende zin van de eigenaar: EN DAAR IS GEEN DISCUSSIE OVER MOGELIJK!. Nou, hoe onbeschoft naar je gasten kun je zijn?? Wel, lees het nog maar een keer en dan mag je het zeggen. De wijnen zijn prima, het eten goed maar wel te zout. Ga me heeeeeel hard bedenken of ik daar nog een keer naar toe ga. Zelfs de andere gasten keken met grote verbazing naar deze houding van de eigenaar. Nee, gastvrijheid vul je toch heel anders in.

Because the restaurant is so small it’s a very cozy place, I would definitely recommend this to my friends and family. The service was nice and the food didn’t take that long.

I ate here for the first time last week with a friend. I work in a tapas bar in Maastricht and have been to Spain before. The food is top notch and is very reminiscent of authentic tapas. Furthermore, it is a very small, but cozy place. Staff was very friendly, cheerful and enthusiastic. Definitely recommended! Because it is a small place and therefore has few tables, I recommend making a reservation to avoid disappointment.

Having tried most, if not all, tapas places in Maastricht, I find this one to be the best. The food is fresh and rich in flavour, giving you cravings to try more things from the menu. Selection of drinks is small, but the wine is good (good for the Spanish wine). A point that could be improved- Sangrias could be homemade rather than pre-made. Overall, a highly recommended small cozy place with great tapas. On a side note, the reservations process is uncomfortable: you book on the website for available dates but the reservation is up for confirmation by the place and takes time….also often declined. When calling - the friendliness and customer-orientation depends on who picks up the phone: young lady that works there does not seem to be interested in clients nor is a good example of hospitality, both in person or over the phone.

Na een leuke offsite wilden we de dag nog even afsluiten met een gezellig etentje. De avond begon prima en het eten viel niet tegen. De bediening liet echter veel steken vallen en om onze tafel wat ruimte te geven voor het eten toch maar de glazen op het (lege) tafeltje naast ons gezet. Toen er eindelijk een serveerster kwam kregen we hier commentaar op…. We dachten het haar uitgelegd te hebben om zo de avond verder voort te kunnen zetten. Echter stond een paar minuten later de eigenaar aan onze tafel om ons uit te maken voor alles wat “niet fris is”. De rekening maar gepakt en met lege maag en dure rekening richting Mac Donalds gegaan. Ik snap dat je voor je mensen mag opkomen maar vergeet de klant niet…

Annuleren je reservering minder dan een dag van tevoren zonder enige reden op te geven. Gelukkig genoeg keuze in Maastricht om wel goed te kunnen eten. Zijn kennelijk niet erg capabel in plannen, en voorspelt dus weinig goeds voor het eten...

We were staying in a little hotel round the corner and were lucky enough to stumble across this fabulous little place. It has a very authentic Spanish feel and the staff are very friendly. You order the food via a QR code on the table and it’s booked fresh and brought swiftly to the table. Everything was delicious and extremely reasonably priced. The gambas pilpil and mushrooms in cream/ garlic were incredible. We ordered 5 plates between 2 and it was more than enough! The aperol spritz and wine were also very reasonable. If I go to Maastricht again I will definitely eat there. There aren’t many tables so you might need to book.

Despite the hustle and bustle of the André Rieu concerts around the corner, we had a delicious and affordable meal here. It's unbelievable what tasty snacks come out of that small kitchen! Highly recommended, just away from the hustle and bustle of the Vrijthof.

My husband and I try not to bother people with the fact we don't know the language very well so we tried to make out what we could from the native menu. The server saw us struggling and she sought out an English menu without us asking. I thought that was very considerate. Service was great. The food was amazing. I never had tapas before so I am very impressed. Potatoes and the ham were fantastic. Would definitely go again next time I'm here.

Called twice at 13:30 on Easter Sunday to make a reservation (on Google Maps it said opening hours 13:00 onwards) and got no response so we went to the restaurant in person just to find out that they were fully booked for two weeks to come.
