2025 Update: Boycott this place! Published reports state that the owners were fined almost €25,000 for labor violations, including workers earning as little as €2.50 per hour. 2024 review: The ambiance is trashy and the kitchen staff is unprofessional. Loud italian rap music made conversations difficult. Got worse when the kitchen staff started singing throughout the restaurant. One chef who was walking back and forth in the restaurant, sang at the top of his lungs, acted like he "owns" the place. So rude, obnoxious and disrespectful to the guests. While the pizzas were delicious, the overall dining experience was tainted by the constant distraction of entitled behavior. The server's explanation that "the kitchen is Italian" as an excuse for the unprofessional behavior is offensive to all Italians and their culture. Such behavior is unacceptable in any restaurant setting, regardless of cultural background. Service staff was also tired of the kitchen’s nonsense. Left a tip even though the experience was bad, but as someone who worked in a hospitality in the past, felt sorry for the guys. We won't be returning or placing any orders. The pizzas were soggy in the middle, and considering the delivery process, they would likely become even more so. There are many other places in Amsterdam with great Neapolitan pizzas and with a pleasant dining atmosphere. Locals will be avoiding.

I have been to both location. One nearby Rembrandtplein and the other one in De pijp. Food : 1 star . Why? Both times the pizzas (Margherita) we ordered had the consistency of a chewing gum. Service: 1 star. Why?They were so big that they were hanging over the edge of the plates. Not very hygienic. I told that to the waiter who replied in a sarcastic and unprofessional way : ‘well, you want them smaller??’ Atmosphere: 1 star. Why? The location in De pijp had Neapolitan music blasted and I could not even hear what my friend was saying, we had to shout at each other. Pretty disappointing.

Boycott this place. Anyone who visits this establishment is sponsoring modern slavery. According to the newspaper Het Parool, the owners, brothers Amedeo (37) and Emanuele (34) Aterrano, exploit their staff. A Nigerian asylum seeker earned €2.50 per hour and had to work 70 to 80 hours per week. Don't do business as you're in Italy; it won't work here long. Rich sons of your daddy, only your money is helping you; you'll close this fake pizzeria, God willing. The pizza is obviously cardboard; I strongly advise against it. It tarnishes the reputation of Naples. The dishwasher was paid 2 euros as if he were in Naples (and not even that). Learn to do business... the management of the business seems amateurish, and therefore the whole experience is disappointing. Just keep the name. And that's it. And it shows.

A disaster. We found three hairs in our food, couldn't eat it, and they wouldn't acknowledge it. The service from the waiters was terrible.

An absolute disaster. The service was awful, and we found several hairs in the pizza. The staff’s excuse was laughable: “the pizza maker is bald.” As if that explained anything. Discovering multiple hairs halfway through the meal made it even more disgusting. If the staff can’t handle a basic complaint with respect, the entire place is failing at the most elementary level.

There were hairs in two of the pizzas we ordered and they refused even to make a discount.

Horrible experience with La Pizzeria Da Michele Amsterdam. They sent me the wrong items, everything arrived cold, and the food was completely inedible. When I contacted them by email, they refused any responsibility and told me to deal with Uber Eats instead. Uber then gave me a ridiculous refund of just €1.86 for an entire ruined order. Between the restaurant passing the blame and Uber’s useless support, this was one of the worst delivery experiences I’ve had. Avoid this place unless you enjoy paying for the wrong, cold food and getting nothing back.

My new best-pizza in Amsterdam. Must try appetizers are foccacia and burrata. The rest is also moutwashing. Pizza! the dough! How thin it is made. Be aware that they are big. The pizzas are delicious. But otherwise, it's a terrible place. Loud music, and after repeatedly asking to turn it down, nothing happened. They even turned it up. Also, the service from some of the staff was mediocre. I'd say takeout pizza: yes. Sitting in the restaurant: no.

We received a friendly welcome. We were able to choose our own seat inside. Ordering was easy. The music wasn't atmospheric, it was fast, and not our taste. The squid rings were well-fried and tender. The fried zuccini was too greasy. The pizza was hanging over the edge of the plate on the table. Drinks were forgotten. Apologies were made. The dough tasted excellent, the toppings were nothing special. Checkout was slow due to the attention given to a group of friends visiting. It was surprising that at checkout, we were asked if we could increase the amount, finger already poised to type it in.

A guarantee. After trying it in Naples, Antica Pizzeria da Michele is confirmed as a top choice in Amsterdam as well. Of course, the prices are different, but the quality and quantity are identical. Our passion for pizza was amply rewarded. The atmosphere and staff (100% Italian) are fantastic!

The pizzas were excellent and the staff was very friendly! BUT it was 10 degrees and windy, and we were not allowed to close the front door… another table, including ours, was very cold, the pizzas got cold quickly, and the smell of marijuana from the terrace of the place next door came in… Unfortunately, it ruined the experience. I hope the owner will agree to keep the door closed in winter for future customers.

Real Neapolitan pizza – and believe me when I say it, because I was born in San Giorgio a Cremano, the hometown of the iconic Neapolitan actor and film director Massimo Troisi. Antonio, the pizzaiolo, transports you straight to Napoli with his delicious pizza and warm, welcoming smile.

I was passing through Amsterdam and stopped at this pizzeria. I thought I'd find the usual chain/company pretending to be an Italian restaurant, but instead, Antonio the pizza chef cooked the pizza to perfection! I absolutely recommend this pizzeria. It's definitely the best pizza in Amsterdam!

Good service, but average pizza. And by average I don’t mean size the pizza is actually quite big and offers good value for money, with a generous amount of filling. However, the quality is where it falls short. The dough is thin, which I like, but it lacks the crunch and rich, bread-like aroma you get in better places. Ours turned out a bit mushy. They do offer a variety of spritz-based drinks at a fair price. I enjoyed my Limoncello Spritz. All in all, it’s decent value for money and the service is notably good which is rare in Amsterdam so I’d recommend it. Just maybe not if you’re Italian.

I ordered through uber eats and choose the pick up option. The app said it was ready but when I got here they said I should wait. I waited 20 minutes. Update: it’s been now 28 minutes.

We were absolutely delighted when we saw that da Michele's kitchen was still open shortly after 10 p.m. last night. We were simply impressed by this restaurant. It's rare to find such friendly staff, and the food was incredibly good. I eat pizza so often, and this pizza is actually the best pizza I've ever had. And if you can say that about a Margherita, then you know what kind of quality da Michele offers. The same goes for the bruschetta and the tiramisu. After the meal, I thanked the chef for this culinary experience. My partner and I will remember the food and service for a long time and we will definitely be back. Thank you very much again 🫶

Decent spot for lunch which was recommended by a local. We enjoyed the Diavola pizza and the burrata and with the focaccia to start. The pizza was MUCH larger than we expected, so be mindful of how much you order. I read some mixed reviews here, but we enjoyed it and didn’t smell anything from the coffee shop next door.

I had bigger expectations for that pizza to be honest and the only reason I’m giving you 2 stars is the cute waiter the have in the terrace . . The meatball were like cat food 😅

Very good good but the service is a mess when I went to pay my bill was about 37eu u tried to pay with 100eu they didn’t have change then I paid with 50, and the waiter only Give me 10eu back because they didn’t have change , so they charge me 3euros more for my was not fare

We war three people, we ordered each one a pizza a few drinks and dessert. The pizzas were absolutely good, but the dough was not done, maybe it stayed to less in the oven. The pizzas themselves are huge, and the ingredients are fresh, which is a big point. The tiramisu was really good! I would advice to visit the pizzeria absolutely!

Good pizza, as other reviews mention it goes beyond the plate and the flavor is absolutely amazing. The crust was thinner than I personally like, and that’s coming from someone who usually prefers thin crust, but the taste really made up for it. The pizza was super tasty, full of flavor, and honestly one of the best I’ve had in a while. The service is not outstanding but it does the job. From time to time you can smell weed coming from the coffeeshop right next door. Personally, I didn’t mind, but it could be an issue for other customers

The quintessential definition of Neapolitan pizza seems to be increasingly becoming a shadow of what it once was three years ago, when it opened. - The pizzas are amazing, they're on the plate (one of Michele's specialties, let's say), but it's unacceptable that the tables aren't cleaned between each customer, and even if you ask, you're frowned upon. - The pizza with raw chili and salami chopped like this—I've never seen a diavola like this! I don't know if it's to save money, but it's absolutely not noticeable in the flavor of the diavola! - I have some spicy oil, it seems like there was only one for the whole restaurant?!? We're at this level. I hope you can improve soon and get back to being the same as before ❤️

Great misunderstanding. I chose the Truffle pizza, which according to the menu was a as a winner of some food completion. The pizza (due to addition of Truffles as I thought) was more expensive (25Eur) than the rest of the menu. What I received was a huge piece of pastry of indefinite shape and the size of the whole table with ordinary mushrooms cooked on top of it and a lot of something which colour and structure resembled a thick layer of mud if not something worse (!). Not even a smell of a Truffle. Everything either bad looking or disgusting . The only comforting aspect of that place was a the service: a very nice and gentle girl, who made this experience a bit better to digest.

Pizza’s were absolutely delicious. Our experience was deprecated by constant smell of weed inside. We were also offered “free” water for which we were later asked to pay.

Located in De Pijp, just past Sharphatipark, it essentially recreates the typical atmosphere of a Neapolitan pizzeria, with Neapolitan waiters and pizza chefs and a bit of a rowdy atmosphere. It plays Italian music from the '70s and '90s, the kind that's popular beyond our borders, with choirs and a truly pleasant atmosphere, which in my opinion is a match for the locals. The pizza is delicious, and it couldn't be otherwise. It's a branch, if you can call it that, of the same place in Naples. Naturally, I was brought there by a true Neapolitan who lives in Amsterdam!

Originally thought I'd get a pizza. They have an Aubergine (Eggplant) starter that is amazing--ended up getting greedy (no room left for pizza) and opted for the Tiramisu, which was equally, a 5 star option.

Unfortunately, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. I placed my order three times with three different waiters—yet after waiting nearly an hour, it turned out no one had actually submitted it. The staff seemed disorganized and made me feel uncomfortable, as if they weren’t used to or respectful toward people from different backgrounds. Really disappointing.

We visited 2 weeks ago with 3 people. Pizza was amazing, it was like original recipie as in Napoli but I would expect the service would be better. In the end of the lunch, one of the waiters brought a water but we said we didin’t order. Than he left it for a free water and we said Ok. Than other waiter took our water without saying anything. When I asked him what he was doing. He said it was a missunderstanding, and asked me if I want this bottle with additional cost. It was very rude and kind of a behaviour shadowing my lunch and joy. It was not acceptable and really sad while the chef was doing the best pizza in Amsterdam.

Coworker told me she had the best pizza ever here. I made her take me there to judge for myself. She didn't tell any lies. This was in fact the best pizza I ever had. The eggplant pizza was amazing, large, full of taste and simply out of this world. The service was wonderful, fast and friendly. The music and ambiance very nice. We were dancing and singing at the table while eating the pizza. I'm soooooo coming back soon.

We opted for the award-winning pizza, but it tasted more like mushroom and cheese pita than pizza. The staff were indifferent, telling us to sit near the door when there were plenty of seats available. If I hadn't eaten pizza in Italy, I would have liked it, but it was average.

We ordered the salad, a classic margarita pizza, and an Ortolana pie. The salad (arugula, tomatoes, olives, and parm) was light and fresh. The pizzas were incredible! They came out hot and overflowing off of the serving dishes. The dough was chewy, flavorful, and very thin. Would recommend this place for a satisfying lunch after exploring Amsterdam all afternoon!

Honestly, the taste instantly transported me back to Naples. It was exactly like the original pizza from L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele that same authenticity, that same simplicity done perfectly. This was more than just a lunch it was a full experience. From the food to the atmosphere to the service, everything was in harmony. We left feeling happy, full, and already planning our next visit. If you’re looking for real Neapolitan pizza in Amsterdam, with the same soul and flavor as the original in Naples, this place is a must.
