L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele in Oude Pijp

I arrived to the place and was immediately seated. There’s a bunch of pizzas to choose from, but the one that caught my eye was the Diavola. I asked the staff member if it’s good and he confirmed that it’s his favorite pizza so I went with that. The pizza arrived really quickly and I was pleasantly shocked to see that the pizza is so big it hangs off of the sides of the plate. The spiciness on the pizza mainly comes from the chili olive oil that’s on the pizza. The pizza is pretty thin so don’t expect to be able to eat it with your hands. The atmosphere was pleasant although I would’ve preferred if music was more Italian classic-based and if they chose a different spot for where they leave the plates after they clean up a table (not in plain sight) All in all, awesome pizza. Thanks to the shift manager for the recommendation.

The pizza is good, but they don't offer a prosciutto pizza option, and adding toppings is extremely expensive.

Great pizza but could be better. I wouldn’t say there was anything wrong with the pizza, just that it could be better. It is impossible to pick up and it’s very floppy in the middle and because it’s bigger than the plate it’s very hard to cut. We shared our pizza as we’d seen people say how big they were and I’m glad we did. We also tried the truffle fries with Parmesan. They were okay for fries, not amazing but they did the job. I would recommend coming here but know there are probably better places.

Beautiful and Very clean place started some where in 1900 and a family running pizza bussiness.founded by the father of present owner.Very tastiest pizza with natural ingridients are the most famous at this place.Reasonable rates which can be affordable by any one.

The pizza itself was tasty, but very thin and partly burnt. I've had better pizzas, but also much worse.

Tasted four different pizzas, and each one was a delightful experience. The portions were generous, and the waiter was incredibly friendly and attentive. The tiramisu was particularly exceptional, and the overall presentation of the food was visually appealing.

How can you let the toilet so dirty ? Hygiene is not the strength of the staff, what a lack of training in all aspect not only toilet. Oh also, they "don't have tap water" so customers have to order a bottle of mineral water, but they don't bring you mineral water, they charge it to you and bring tap water in their dirty greasy and sticky refilled bottle of tap water. Come on it's 21st century, if you want to charge for tap water that's unpleasant but fine if it's on the menu, but why lying on such thing. I hope they do wash their hands sometimes (with mineral water obviously).

I've been to other Pizzerias by Michele before. They're always exceptional. But this last time the pizza was, at best, "passable." The dough was somewhat raw inside and rubbery.

Pizzas were burned and not tasty, snacks were basic snacks. Not that tasty. Really basic food.

The team was very friendly, it was Koningsdag and luckily we still managed to find spot there. The menu is really nice and varied, will come back to taste pizza. Meanwhile, tiramisu was fantastic and the portion was huge, but it’s very light dessert, so we finished it very quickly

Yesterday I celebrated my birthday at this restaurant and, unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. From the beginning there were issues: I had made a reservation for 10 people by phone and was assured everything was ready, but when we arrived the table wasn’t prepared and had to be arranged on the spot. (In the end we were 9) During dinner, we ordered tap water, which we were charged for. The waiter tell us this so we accepted it. However, what was truly unacceptable came afterward: at the end, they brought out a dessert with candles, clearly presented as a birthday gesture. At no point were we informed that it would have a cost, so it was naturally understood as a courtesy from the restaurant. To our surprise, that dessert was included on the bill. I want to make it clear that I did not order that dessert. If I had known it would be charged, I would have refused it immediately. I find this practice very non-transparent and completely inappropriate. Despite this, I paid the full bill (€283.34) and left more than a 10% tip, because I respect the work in the hospitality industry (I worked in it for many years) and I didn’t want to create a scene in front of my guests or ruin the moment. But that doesn’t change my opinion: charging for something that was not requested and presented as a “gift” is unacceptable. I’ve been living in Amsterdam for three years and have been a regular customer, both at the restaurant and ordering delivery (always the Diavola pizza). That’s precisely why this experience is even more disappointing. You can’t treat a loyal customer’s trust this way. I will not be coming back. Terrible service.

A bit pricey, considering they're pizzas, and based on the Neapolitan style where they cost between €4 and €6. A Margherita for €15 and the special for €25 seems a bit steep. They are very good, that's true. And don't order the Limoncello, €6 a shot... Absolutely outrageous.

The food is good. But i swear they must take pleasure in watching us use the provided knives that aren't sharp to cut their pizza. A spoon would cut as effectively as these knives Food was good though

Soggy overpriced pizza. We had the original in Naples and were very disappointed. The pan side of the crust was very soggy and difficult to cut. The texture was unappetizing. However, the sauce and cheese were very good.

I live in the neighborhood and I’ve been here before, so this was really disappointing. Service was honestly a mess. I asked for a pizza cutter and never got one. Everything came late, and by the time the pizzas arrived they were already cold. On top of that, the plates were smaller than the pizzas, which just made everything more annoying to deal with. The knife didn’t even cut properly, and when the pizza cutter finally came (after like 15 minutes, when the pizzas were already cold), it still didn’t work well. Overall, really frustrating experience. Definitely not what I expected, especially since I had a better experience here before.

This restaurant is terrible. The chef used the bathroom and didn't wash his hands, so we didn't finish our food. Disgusting restaurant! The chef didn't wash his hands after using the bathroom and went to knead the pizza dough. Don't go there!

Eating well in Amsterdam is a real challenge for an Italian! My wife and I, along with a couple of friends, went there twice. The waiter was excellent, as was the pizza chef...the pizzas were delicious and tasty, and the cannoli and tiramisu to finish! 🍻

Location is convenient and easy to spot, staff is friendly, we liked one of the pizza Siciliaan a lot however the Truffle mushrooms was presented so well but our taste buds could not accommodate, number of starters were very limited and only two veg bread options so wish they had one or two more items, else you just rely on ordering these gigantic pizza. Pizzas are wood fired and baked to perfection.

Reccomendation from hotel reception, Top notch, my friend argued it was the best pizza he's had. I think top 5 but most of the others were eaten in Italy. Will go again next time I'm in Netherlands.

Stumbled upon this restaurant and super happy we did! Food was incredible and authentic, caught it at a quiet time but could’ve happily stayed for hours with friends. Our waiter (Luca) was so attentive & helpful, but not needy. He was super quick to take our order, the perfect amount of time between order & food arrival for you to know it’s is freshly cooked. We asked for the chefs name (Carlo) & was told he is new & eager to please. Both helped create a lovely meal for me and my partner so hope they get the recognition they deserve. We unfortunately did not have any cash for a tip so here’s a reminder before you visit!

2025 Update: Boycott this place! Published reports state that the owners were fined almost €25,000 for labor violations, including workers earning as little as €2.50 per hour. 2024 review: The ambiance is trashy and the kitchen staff is unprofessional. Loud italian rap music made conversations difficult. Got worse when the kitchen staff started singing throughout the restaurant. One chef who was walking back and forth in the restaurant, sang at the top of his lungs, acted like he "owns" the place. So rude, obnoxious and disrespectful to the guests. While the pizzas were delicious, the overall dining experience was tainted by the constant distraction of entitled behavior. The server's explanation that "the kitchen is Italian" as an excuse for the unprofessional behavior is offensive to all Italians and their culture. Such behavior is unacceptable in any restaurant setting, regardless of cultural background. Service staff was also tired of the kitchen’s nonsense. Left a tip even though the experience was bad, but as someone who worked in a hospitality in the past, felt sorry for the guys. We won't be returning or placing any orders. The pizzas were soggy in the middle, and considering the delivery process, they would likely become even more so. There are many other places in Amsterdam with great Neapolitan pizzas and with a pleasant dining atmosphere. Locals will be avoiding.

I have been to both location. One nearby Rembrandtplein and the other one in De pijp. Food : 1 star . Why? Both times the pizzas (Margherita) we ordered had the consistency of a chewing gum. Service: 1 star. Why?They were so big that they were hanging over the edge of the plates. Not very hygienic. I told that to the waiter who replied in a sarcastic and unprofessional way : ‘well, you want them smaller??’ Atmosphere: 1 star. Why? The location in De pijp had Neapolitan music blasted and I could not even hear what my friend was saying, we had to shout at each other. Pretty disappointing.

Don't do business as you're in Italy; it won't work here long. Rich sons of your daddy, only your money is helping you; you'll close this fake pizzeria, God willing. The pizza is obviously cardboard; I strongly advise against it. It tarnishes the reputation of Naples. The dishwasher was paid 2 euros as if he were in Naples (and not even that). Learn to do business... the management of the business seems amateurish, and therefore the whole experience is disappointing. Just keep the name. And that's it. And it shows.

Boycott this place. Anyone who visits this establishment is sponsoring modern slavery. According to the newspaper Het Parool, the owners, brothers Amedeo (37) and Emanuele (34) Aterrano, exploit their staff. A Nigerian asylum seeker earned €2.50 per hour and had to work 70 to 80 hours per week. There were hairs in two of the pizzas we ordered and they refused even to make a discount.

A disaster. We found three hairs in our food, couldn't eat it, and they wouldn't acknowledge it. The service from the waiters was terrible.

An absolute disaster. The service was awful, and we found several hairs in the pizza. The staff’s excuse was laughable: “the pizza maker is bald.” As if that explained anything. Discovering multiple hairs halfway through the meal made it even more disgusting. If the staff can’t handle a basic complaint with respect, the entire place is failing at the most elementary level.

Horrible experience with La Pizzeria Da Michele Amsterdam. They sent me the wrong items, everything arrived cold, and the food was completely inedible. When I contacted them by email, they refused any responsibility and told me to deal with Uber Eats instead. Uber then gave me a ridiculous refund of just €1.86 for an entire ruined order. Between the restaurant passing the blame and Uber’s useless support, this was one of the worst delivery experiences I’ve had. Avoid this place unless you enjoy paying for the wrong, cold food and getting nothing back.

My new best-pizza in Amsterdam. Must try appetizers are foccacia and burrata. The rest is also moutwashing. Pizza! the dough! How thin it is made. Be aware that they are big. Not easy to eat 1 per person. Service could be better though. I was not able to order my second wine for 15 mins and then gave up. Look at the tables, eye contact…

The pizzas are delicious. But otherwise, it's a terrible place. Loud music, and after repeatedly asking to turn it down, nothing happened. They even turned it up. Also, the service from some of the staff was mediocre. I'd say takeout pizza: yes. Sitting in the restaurant: no.

We received a friendly welcome. We were able to choose our own seat inside. Ordering was easy. The music wasn't atmospheric, it was fast, and not our taste. The squid rings were well-fried and tender. The fried zuccini was too greasy. The pizza was hanging over the edge of the plate on the table. Drinks were forgotten. Apologies were made. The dough tasted excellent, the toppings were nothing special. Checkout was slow due to the attention given to a group of friends visiting. It was surprising that at checkout, we were asked if we could increase the amount, finger already poised to type it in.

A guarantee. After trying it in Naples, Antica Pizzeria da Michele is confirmed as a top choice in Amsterdam as well. Of course, the prices are different, but the quality and quantity are identical. Our passion for pizza was amply rewarded. The atmosphere and staff (100% Italian) are fantastic!

The pizzas were excellent and the staff was very friendly! BUT it was 10 degrees and windy, and we were not allowed to close the front door… another table, including ours, was very cold, the pizzas got cold quickly, and the smell of marijuana from the terrace of the place next door came in… Unfortunately, it ruined the experience. I hope the owner will agree to keep the door closed in winter for future customers.

I was passing through Amsterdam and stopped at this pizzeria. I thought I'd find the usual chain/company pretending to be an Italian restaurant, but instead, Antonio the pizza chef cooked the pizza to perfection! I absolutely recommend this pizzeria. It's definitely the best pizza in Amsterdam!
