Amazing food in the museum. I will back. Should try onion soup 🫶🏻

The dishes are specially chosen based on Van Goghs life. We really enjoyed the Onion Soup or Crocque Madame. It was so delicious. I love that they had many vegetarian options as well. Best Museum Lunch experience for me. The App to order could be improved the payment steps are confusing and not visible for the user, but to order at the counter was also no issue.

After visiting the Van Gogh Museum, I had lunch at La Tambourin. It is the self-service restaurant. Despite some low reviews, I give it a chance and I was pleasantly surprised! I had zucchini soup and fish, and both were delicious. The atmosphere was nice for a break, though a bit pricey. It is a good spot for lunch if you're visiting the museum!

...I'd like to say more, but I first waited 7 minutes at the entrance and then sat down at a table... and now I've been sitting here for over 20 minutes: I wasn't given a menu or even greeted. Employees are skillfully ignoring me... Well, I just want a coffee and then I'm leaving. I have to say, I only order it because my blood pressure requires it, otherwise, not even that. In the meantime, I watched as others were escorted to tables, or a gentleman sitting at the table next to me was given a menu, a drink, and a bowl of soup before I was even spoken to. After almost 25 minutes, an employee asked me if everything was okay; I said no; I ordered a coffee and discovered that they served it in glasses instead of cups 👀 we're talking about a bistro that sells caviar for almost €50... Well, my table wasn't cleaned, but the €4 glass of coffee came quickly, but I'd rather go to Starbucks for the taste... for the price... Sorry, but that's my honest experience, January 2025

4.20 for a cup of bad sour coffee. The slice of cake was good, but also cost 5.50 euros.

Everything at the museum was excellent except the main restaurant. I was appalled to learn that the food is prepared in the morning and not made fresh to order. No changes were possible, and I was even refused a slice of ‘normal’ cheese for my vegan burger - on a separate plate - for “health and safety’ reasons. Frankly this was patronising and embarrassing. We walked out, saving our money for freshly made food rather than this overpriced pre-prepared offering. Such a shame this as this was a real let down to a great museum.

Honey cake and milk are the perfect combination!! You absolutely must try the honey cake. The French fries were also delicious. It's a great place to grab a snack and take a break.

I can't speak to the quality of the food as we spend twenty five minutes here and were never served. We waited in line for fifteen minutes while the staff, apparently busy, worked around us. Several empty tables were apparent. We watched as those who had arrived before us were seated (as one should) and then we were ushered to a dirty table. We waited an additional ten minutes for any useful interaction with staff. Wait staff walked by and smiled at us, but no effort was made to wipe our table, take our order, present us with menus, or otherwise take note of our existence. We checked with each other to be sure we hadn't turned invisible. Then we left. Life is too short to pointlessly sit at a table being ignored. From the other recent reviews, I assume our experience was atypical. I hope others receive service better than we did. I'm told the food is good, but then again, how would I know? I can only assume the proximity to a museum with a large volume of surrealist art has caused some sort of spillover. Perhaps a name change (The Kafka Kafe?) is in order.

Tables not cleared. Six oven-baked bitterballs for €6.00, outrageous quality and expensive. Coffee and a piece of cake for two were over €24.00, absolutely not worthy of "Van Gogh"!

It is self-service. You get very small portions and it's ridiculously expensive for what you get. A small soup cost €8 and if you want bread with it you pay €0.65.

Tasteless & overpriced. Do not recommend

Very expensive and far too little taste. The quinoa salad is a large pile of dry arugula, which completely dominates all other ingredients in terms of taste. I didn't taste the stray quinoa and avocado, but I almost broke my teeth on the roasted, yet tasteless chickpeas. Dry bite, impossible to get rid of. My complaint was responded to with: "This is how we make the salad, but you can get extra dressing." Next time, bring lunch from home.

I hope this is the right restaurant that i am rating. I mean the one inside the museum near the exit. Vegan food tasted well. But during payment they made a fault, that we randomly noticed. So we wanted the money back. The team was not trained for this situation and neither we got the money. We had to give our personal data and bank account and hopefully it works to get the money back.

Food was very little and very expensive. The wine and tap water also exorbitantly expensive. Small glass of wine €8. Will never eat here again!

The best service i’ve ever seen in Amsterdam

Best food in Amsterdam thus far. The vegan burgers were great as was everything else, order the apple pie if you’re struggling to decide you won’t be sorry. Great service - kind and helpful

The restaurant is overpriced, even for Dutch standards. However, I cannot deny that it has a lovely view and a nice atmosphere. The cocktails were expensive but they were good.

Wundervolle Umgebung mit Hochgenüssen...

Zeer duidelijke menukaart en veel allergenen vrije opties, bediening zeer gast gericht. Caesar salade was heerlijk en bij een espresso kwam een glaasje water. Top!

Ondanks schattig beklede stoeltjes en zeer vriendelijk personeel, zou ik hier niet snel meer plaatsnemen. 4 euro voor een frisdrank vind ik echt te veel. De kaart biedt weinig opties voor een betaalbare snelle hap en de locatie nodigt niet uit voor een gezellige lunch.

Lots of gluten-free options, allergens are described for all meals, not the typical choices, friendly service, great atmosphere! Slightly pricey though, still great!

Kleine gerechten, lekker klaargemaakt. Goede prijs / kwaliteit verhouding. Proper. Vriendelijke bediening.

Doordeweekse dag. Er is hier geen zwarte koffie. ???? En geen normale broodjes. Er staat een bordje voor dieet wensen, maar ze kunnen niet een broodje maken zonder kaas bv. ??? Wat heb je dan aan een bordje met dieet wensen. Als je niet tegen kaas kan. Èn ja ik weet het als je personeel hebt heel fijn, maar als je 81 bent en wil vragen of er kaas tussen zit en je geen Nederlands sprekende hulp krijgt is dat wel een dingetje.

A nice, even if slightly overpriced, café. A sandwich and a drink cost 12.10 €/USD (£10.40) altogether. There’s free wi-fi from the museum, but no power outlets. Plenty of seats are available.

It's open, on the zeroth floor of the van gogh museum. Food looks beautiful and the combinations are innovative. However the Tom Yum soup was bitter, the bruschetta was not toasted and the toppings cold. Gazpacho soup was decent. Didn't get deserts, but they also looked great. Smoothies were diluted.

Really nice for a lunch or a coffee and cake break! 😊 We ate green gazpacho and Niçoise salad, both were executed chef-level.

After seeing the museum my friend and I stopped in for coffee while we waited for our friends. The head chef came out and chatted with us for a while and gave us some complimentary snacks. Great experience.

Ich war überrascht, in einem Museumsrestaurant solch ein qualitativ hochwertiges Essen zu finden. Frisches, Gesundes, Leichtes, nicht die übliche Snack-Schnitzel-Küche, die man sonst oft bekommt. Top!

Not your typical museum fare! Great food and wonderful atmosphere. Chef is personable and friendly; great service. After reluctantly heading over to the café for lunch, our group was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the cozy ambiance. Chef went above and beyond to provide great service. It's clear that the Van Gogh Museum is focused on customer experience, as beauty permeates the entire space: from the breathtaking paintings on the walls to the well-crafted dishes at the restaurant. Well done!

Ristorante gourmet del museo Van Gogh

Es una alternativa para comer algo no muy formal después de la visita al museo. Es un café tipo bufet donde pagas por lo que cojas de los diferentes mostradores según el tipo de comida que ofrezcan ese día. La comida sencilla pero bien elaborada y con muy buena pinta. Sin embargo no es nada barato comer aquí.

Buen servicio, variedad en alimentación y grata atención por parte del personal. Aunque es caro.

Wil je lekker én rustig én goedkoop een goede hap dan is het restaurant van het Van Gogh een aanrader. Omdat het Van Gogh tot 19.00u open is kun je hier voor een snelle hap goed terecht. Met een museumjaarkaart loop je naar binnen, roltrap af andere roltrap op, rechts af, en je bent in Le Tambourin. Eet smakelijk.

This is a wonderful restaurant, a true treat in the museum! They have a wide selection of all kinds of dishes and the seating area is beautiful.

Ottimo per pausa pranzo e visita al museo.

Endroit agréable. Bonne cuisine. Accueil très chaleureux, sympathique et en Français par un des cuisiniers francophone. Musique française également. Bref un excellent moment. Je recommande cette pause déjeuner lors de la visite de ce superbe musée :)

El servicio es malo, la comida es cara. Nada del otro mundo.
