Yvette's Kitchen in Bijlmer Centrum (D,F,H)

Absolutely no respect for customers. You stand there at the counter, and the woman in the kitchen acts like you don't exist, while the other worker is just eating in the kitchen where my food is being made. That's unacceptable, especially not in front of customers. She also throws a lot of pepper in your arepa even though you didn't ask for it, so the arepa went straight in the trash. 😒 You pay €22 for two half-cooked, poorly made arepas and two small quesillos. First time there, never again. A real waste of money, man. The food is just like their service.... TOTALLY BAD!

The food is usually good, but this time I was unpleasantly surprised and gave the customer service a one-star rating. I ordered two arepas and then received two johnnycakes. You'd think that could happen, so I politely pointed it out, and the answer I received was, "I thought you said two johnnycakes." Okay, that's okay, so I asked how much I had to pay extra for the two arepas. The lady told me, "I can't take the johnnycakes back now, so you have to pay for that arepa again." I couldn't believe my ears, because I placed the correct order, but due to a mistake on their part, I had to pay twice. Since you should never argue with someone preparing your food, I left it as is and paid again. In the end, the arepa wasn't cooked properly, and the dough was still there. I wouldn't order food from here again anytime soon, as now I have to hope the food is good or not. Unfortunately for me!

The food is great, but service need some work. The business times seems to mean very little. Multiple times I’ve visited this restaurant and the kitchen was already closed more than one hour before closing time. Instead of a friendly explanation customers were just ignored by staff member.

I walked up to order and someone had just left. It turned out that the lady in question had just gone on a break for a minute and therefore could no longer take an order. Now I waited until the break was over and I wanted to order what I wanted and was simply told no, we don't have a chopbox because my boss hadn't been there.

We were able to pick up delicious food and received fantastic service from Yvette herself

The Johnny cakes are delicious. The service is terrible, even off-putting. I went twice, but I felt like I was doing something wrong.

I came here on a friends suggestion. It was amazing and I was surprised when I saw it only had 35 reviews. Great value for money, quality of the food was great. The chicken Johnny cake was amazing (quite salty and heavy from the oil, but brilliant comfort food) and I split the Oxtail and bean rice with a friend, it was very tender and rich along with some great plantain, on par with restaurant standard. I suggest you copy my order since I will definitely be ordering it again when I’m back. I’ve never had Caribbean food before but this gave me a glimpse into it that I fully intend on revisiting.

I ordered the JohnnyCake Bakijou and Cheese! It was extremely delicious and it felt like I was having a meal at home. Give them a visit and see for yourself how awesome their JohnnyCakes are. I feel like Yvette is hugging my stomach😂👌🏾

After waiting 20 minutes in a line of two customers in front of me, it was finally my turn. The waiting time for 4 Johnny cakes (plain) would take about 20 minutes. After waiting 50 minutes I got my order. Once I got home it was 3 Johnny cake cheese and 1 tuna cheese. A waste of my money and especially my time. And I don't eat cheese. And certainly not those cheap slices that are thrown on top. Waste waste waste.. by the way not the first time but the last!!!

When in Amsterdam you may be tempted to stay in the city centre to eat, but make sure you take the Metro out to Bijlmer principally to get some of the delicious Johnny Cakes from Ms. Yvette, a specialty of the Caribbean which has a wonderful home at this foodie destination.

Had some great Dominican food here, Johnny cakes for lunch and Antillean style cakes. Everything made me nostalgic for back home on St Maarten.

Heerlijk eten en aardige dames die daar werken. Leuk om Yvette op Vice te kunnen zien! Toen ik dat vertelde aan haar zag ik een hele lach verschijnen. Zeker aan te raden om heen te gaan

De bestelling ging prima alleen was het best snel koud en was er weinig kaas in mijn Johnny cake en was het niet lekker gesmolten, vervolgens tijdens het eten kijk ik even naar mijn Johnny cake en zie ik vervolgens iets blauws. Ik kon de locatie van de Amsterdamse poort niet vinden maar het gaat onder dezelfde naam/ zelfde bedrijf. Jullie werknemers mogen wat minder nonchalant werken! Ik eet bijna een stuk plastic lijkt het wel.

Was the wait because it is busy or because service is slow? I'd expect a wait if the place is small, busy and manned by one person. Perhaps, a hungry lunch crowd gathers rather quickly. Just asking. One's impatience isn't a reason to rate the place lowly.

Nice and authentic Caribbean food

Ik heb helaas geen bestelling kunnen ophalen. Maar dit bleek door de storm te komen. Heb netjes mijn geld terug gekregen.

Op zich niets aan te merken betreft de Johnny cakes met hete kip,maar de duur (van het bereiden van het product) en prijs van deze cakes:pff... Ik steun graag black-owned businesses hoor,maar zorg ervoor dat alles klopt: hygiëne, klantvriendelijkheid,omgeving,mensen die er voor je werken, prijs-kwaliteitverhouding.

Amazing Johnny cake, missed this so much since our trip to Aruba. Tasted like being back in San Nicolas 🥰

Controleer je bestelling voordat je vertrekt want er ontbreken altijd wel producten. Er wordt gebruik gemaakt van nr's passen bij je bestelling en nog klopt het niet

Gisteren daar met een collega geweest, ik twijfelde omdat ik een lastige eter ben, of dit wel wat voor mij was. Omdat ik gekleed was in uniform voelde ik mij ook nog enigszins ongemakkelijk. Yvette voelde dat aan en bood ons aan te proeven. Kregen vervolgens een johnny cake hete kip. En het bijbehorende verhaal van de johnny ( journey) cake HEEEERLIJK. Drinken en nog een broodje met ham en kaas gekocht. Hier ga ik zeker terug komen, al was het maar om de gastvrije en vriendelijke Yvette. Bedankt Yvette.
